Rhagolwg: Derwyddon Cefn NEWI / Preview: NEWI Cefn Druids

Derwyddon Cefn DruidsGêm gwbl allweddol ydy’r un sydd yn aros Porthmadog nos Wener yn erbyn Derwyddon Cefn ar Blaskynaston. Mae gan Cefn 22 o bwyntiau, chwech yn fwy na Port. Daw’r gêm rhwng y ddau ar Y Traeth ag atgofion am berfformiad gwael yn colli o 2-1 ar ôl gwastraffu digon o feddiant gyda chiciau uchel er mwyn i Timmy Edwards a Wayne Phillips ymarfer eu sgiliau penio. Y tro diwethaf inni ymweld â Phlaskynaston, colli fu’r hanes gyda Mike Heverin yn sgorio hat tric i’r Derwyddon. A gair i gall: bydd Heverin yn y garfan ar gyfer ddydd Gwener. Ond dyna ddigon o hanes - mae chwaraewyr Port yn gwybod yn iawn fod angen y tri phwynt a fod ganddynt y gallu i sicrhau hyn. Bydd Paul Roberts ar gael ac mae angen iddo ddangos ei ddawn sgorio i fynd efo’r chwarae da a welwyd ganddo’n ddiweddar. Beth sydd angen rwan ydy buddugoliaeth,- nid perfformiad yn unig –buddugoliaeth o unrhyw fath. I’r gad. Yn dilyn y gêm hon, mae gemau yn erbyn Aberystwyth ar Y Traeth a wedyn taith i Gaersws. Bydd gêmau mis Chwefror yn gwbl allweddol i ddyfodol y clwb.

It is now crunch time for Porthmadog as they face Cefn Druids on Friday at Plaskynaston. Cefn have 22 points -6 more than Port. Neither side has good recent form to boast with Cefn showing only one win in their last five games at home while Port have won two of their last five away games. The fixture at the Traeth between the two clubs brings memories of a poor Port performance, wasting possession with high balls into the box giving Timmy Edwards and Wayne Phillips heading practice and going down by 2-1. The last visit to Plaskynaston saw Port on the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat with a hat trick for Mike Heverin. Just a word of warning,- Heverin has just come back into the Druids line-up. History however counts for little as Port know that they need three points and know that they have the ability to get them. Paul Roberts will be available again and he will need to continue his good current form and also find the net once again. What is needed is not just a good performance but a win –any kind of win. This game is followed by a home fixture against Aberystwyth and a visit to fellow strugglers Caersws. These three games are absolutely crucial to the survival effort.

Newid dyddiad y gêm yn erbyn Derwyddon Cefn / Change of date for Cefn Druids game

Dalier sylw! Mae’r gêm oddi cartref yn erbyn Derwyddon Cefn wedi’i newid i’r nos Wener (8 Chwefror) gyda’r gic gyntaf am 7.30 pm.
Mae hon yn gêm bwysig iawn i’r clwb. Byddai Viv a’r hogiau yn gwerthfawrogi eich cefnogaeth swnllyd ar y noson.

Supporters should note that the away fixture against Newi Cefn Druids has been switched to the Friday evening, February 8th with a 7.30 pm kick off.
This is a vital fixture for the club. Viv and the lads would appreciate your vociferous support on the night.

Ionawr yr Ail Dîm / Reserves Round-up: January

Ar ddiwedd y mis, mae’r ail dîm yn y bumed safle yng Nghynghrair Gwynedd, hyn yn dilyn buddugoliaeth o 3-0 yn Cemaes y clwb sydd ar waelod yr adran. Y sgorwyr oedd Mark Bridge, Richard Hughes ac unwaith yn rhagor Matthew Hughes. Gyda’r gêm yn erbyn Bontnewydd yn cael ei gohirio oherwydd y tywydd, yr unig gêm gynghrair arall yn ystod y mis oedd yr un a gollwyd yn Llangefni. Ar ôl bod ar y blaen o 2-1 ar yr hanner, sgoriodd Llangefni ddwywaith yn yr ail hanner i sicrhau’r tri phwynt. Llwyddwyd i gyrraedd ail rownd Cwpan y Llywydd gyda buddugoliaeth dda dros yr hen elyn Blaenau Ffestiniog o 3-1 diolch i hat tric gan Matthew Hughes. Yn yr ail rownd, bydd Porthmadog oddi cartref yng Nghaergybi. Matthew Hughes sy’n dal i arwain rhestr sgorwyr y Gynghrair gyda 19 gôl gynghrair a 4 gôl gwpan.

The reserves ended the month in 5th place in the Gwynedd League table following a 3-0 victory at bottom club, Cemaes. The goals were scored by Mark Bridge, Richard Hughes and inevitably Matthew Hughes. With the game at Bontnewydd falling foul of the weather, the month’s only other league encounter was the defeat at Llangefni. After leading 2-1 at half time, Port went on to concede two second half goals. The reserves reached the 2nd Round of the President’s Cup with a good win over their old rivals Blaenau Ffestiniog. Port ran out winners by 3-1 thanks to a Matthew Hughes hat-trick. Port have been drawn away at Holyhead in the 2nd Round. Matthew Hughes continues to head the Gwynedd league goal scorers’ list with 19 league and 4 cup goals.

FAWAtgoffir cefnogwyr fod gêm Rhyngwladol Gyfeillgar yn cael ei chwarae ar y Cae Ras yn Wrecsam nos Fercher nesaf, 6 Chwefror. Bydd tîm ifanc John Toshack gyda Craig Bellamy yn ôl yn y garfan yn croesawu Norwy. Bydd hefyd yn gyfle da i gefnogwyr y gogledd weld pêl droed rhyngwladol heb y daith hir i Gaerdydd. Gallai cefnogaeth dda hefyd arwain at ddod ag un o gêmau grŵp Cwpan y Byd i’r Cae Ras. Mae tocynnau ar gael o’r Cae Ras ar 01978 262129 ar agor rhwng 9.30am – 4.30pm. o ddydd Llun i ddydd Gwener. David Hughes wedi arwyddo / David Hughes signs for Port

David Hughes (welsh-premier.com)Gyda’r ffenest drosglwyddo ar fin cau, mae Porthmadog wedi cwblhau trosglwyddiad David Hughes asgellwr 25ain oed o glwb Airbus Brychdyn. Ymunodd David ag Airbus yn 2005 gan sgorio 7 gôl mewn 32(+2) gêm. Ar ôl chwarae’n rheolaidd am ddau dymor, ychydig o gêmau a chwaraeodd eleni 4(+5) oherwydd paratoadau ar gyfer arholiadau. Chwaraeodd hefyd i Brifysgol Coventry.
Deallwn fod arhosiad Richie Owen gyda’r clwb wedi bod yn un byr iawn ac mae bellach wedi dychwelyd i Glantraeth.

With the transfer window closing, Porthmadog have completed the signing of David Hughes a 25 year old winger from Airbus Broughton. He joined Airbus in 2005 scoring 7 goals in 32(+2) appearances in his first season. Having been a regular for two seasons, his appearances have been limited to 4(+5) this season mainly due to the need to prepare for examinations. He also previously played for Coventry University.
It appears that Richie Owen has cut short his return to Porthmadog, rejoining Cymru Alliance club Glantraeth.

Rhagolwg: Seintiau Newydd / Preview: The New Saints

TNSTasg gyda’r anoddaf ydy teithio i wynebu’r Seintiau Newydd . Pan fo eich clwb yn wirioneddol angen pwyntiau, mae’r dasg yn troi yn un o anobaith. Ond nid yw chwaraewyr Port na’u rheolwr Viv Williams yn rhai i wrthod sialens -fel mae Peter Nicholas rheolwr Llanelli yn gwybod yn iawn. Dyna’r math o ysbryd fydd ei angen ddydd Sadwrn. Heblaw am un cweir, mae Port bob amser wedi rhoi gêmau caled i’r pencampwyr fel y dangoswyd y tymor diwethaf wrth iddynt roi’r Seintiau allan o ddwy gystadleuaeth gwpan. Hyd yn oed yn y tymor trychinebus hwn, roedd angen gôl yn yr amser ychwanegol i’r Seintiau gipio’r tri phwynt ar Y Traeth. Dyna chi’r dadleuon dros feddwl y gall Port sicrhau rhywbeth allan o’r gêm hon –ond ar bapur does ganddyn nhw ddim siawns. Dyna lwc felly nad ar bapur bydd y gêm hon yn cael ei chwarae ond ar gae newydd, artiffisial y clwb o Groesoswallt – a dyna ichi reswm arall am geisio profi ein bod yn medru chwarae pêl droed a gwneud brwydr ohoni. Bydd Port heb Paul Roberts, sydd wedi bod yn chwarae mor dda yn ddiweddar, ar gyfer y gêm hon. Mae Marcus Orlik –sydd wedi sgorio ym mhob un o’r tair gêm ddiwethaf- yn debyg o symud i’r blaen mewn partneriaeth gyda Carl Owen. Mae’n siwr fydd TNS yn cynnwys yr ymosodwr newydd Kevin Townson, gynt o Rochdale.

Playing the New Saints on their own ground is never going to be any thing but the stiffest of challenges. When your club is desperate for points, it becomes even less of an attraction. However the Porthmadog players and manager Viv Williams are never ones to shirk a challenge as Peter Nicholas the Llanelli manager is well aware. That is the kind of spirit that will be needed on Saturday. Port, apart from one blip, have always risen to the challenge against the champions as they showed last season when they put the Saints out of two cup competitions. Even in this disastrous season, it took an injury time goal for the New Saints to pick up three points at the Traeth earlier in the season. That is the case for getting something from the game –but on paper there is no chance. Luckily this game will not be played on paper but on the Saints’ new and highly praised artificial surface in Oswestry –another good reason for proving that we can play football and make a game of it. Port will be without in form Paul Roberts for this rescheduled league encounter. Marcus Orlik –who has scored in each of the last three games-, will probably be switched to partner Carl Owen up front. TNS will probably include their new signing former Rochdale striker Kevin Townson.

Newyddion am drosglwyddiad / Transfer news

Matthew ParryMae Port wedi arwyddo golwr newydd. Y newydd ddyfodiad ydy Matthew Parry o Bwllheli, golwr 24 oed, sydd â Northwich Victoria o’r Conference a Bae Colwyn ymysg ei glybiau blaenorol. Ers i Joe Sagar ddychwelyd i Mossley, bu Port heb ail golwr a bydd Matthew yn cyflawni’r rôl hon.
Hefyd derbyniodd Port 7 niwrnod o rybudd gan Leek Town am eu chwaraewr ochr chwith, Richard Smart. Ond mae Richard wedi penderfynu aros gyda’r clwb ac mae’n awyddus i helpu yn y frwydr yn erbyn y cwymp. Mae Leek Town yn brwydro i gadw’u lle yn yr Unibond Premier.

Porthmadog have completed the signing of a new goalkeeper. The newcomer is Matthew Parry a 24 year old goalkeeper from Pwllheli who has Northwich Victoria in the Conference and Colwyn Bay of the Unibond amongst his previous clubs. Matthew has been brought in as cover for Richard Harvey –a much needed development since Joe Sagar left the club to return to Mossley.
The club has also received a 7 day notice of approach from Leek Town for the left sided midfielder Richard Smart. Richard has however decided to remain with Porthmadog to assist the club in the battle against relegation. Leek Town are also involved in a relegation battle in the Unibond Premier.

Ryan Davies – y diweddara’ / Ryan Davies latest

Ryan DaviesMae cefnogwyr wedi gweld Ryan yn cymryd rhan gynyddol yn y sesiynau cynhesu cyn gêmau ond erbyn hyn mae’r amddiffynnwr canol profiadol yn barod am y cam nesaf yn ei wellhad. Ddydd Sadwrn nesaf, mae yna obaith i weld Ryan yn cymryd rhan mewn gêm am y tro cyntaf ers iddo dderbyn anaf drwg yn erbyn Caernarfon ar Wyl y Banc. Mae Ryan yn gobeithio chwarae i’r ail dîm oddi cartref yn erbyn Y Gaerwen. Newyddion da yn wir.

Supporters will have noticed Ryan taking an increasing part in warm up sessions prior to games at the Traeth. Now the news comes that the experienced central defender is ready to take the next step in his rehabilitation. Next Saturday he hopes to take part in a match for the first time since he received a bad injury during the game against Caernarfon on August Bank holiday by turning out for the reserves when they visit Gaerwen on Saturday. This is really excellent news.

Penderfyniadau’r dyfarnwr yn rhyfeddu’r Rheolwr / Manager baffled by refereeing decisions.

Perfformiad y dyfarnwr, Kerry Morgan, sy’n dal i fod y prif bwnc trafod yn dilyn y gêm yn erbyn Y Trallwng ddydd Sadwrn. Nid yw Viv Williams y math o reolwr sydd yn edrych i daflu’r bai ar ddyfarnwyr pan fo’r canlyniadau yn mynd yn ei erbyn ond, ar ôl y gêm hon, cyfaddefodd “(Mae) rhai o’r penderfyniadau tu hwnt i fi.” Ond mewn ymdrech i edrych yn adeiladol ar y sefyllfa, roedd yn annog y Gynghrair i edrych eto ar y drefn asesu.
“Mae’n hen bryd i’r gynghrair ail edrych ar y drefn asesu a chytuno i gynnwys cyn chwaraewyr ochr yn ochr â’r cyn ddyfarnwyr a ddefnyddir ar hyn o bryd.”
“Dyna’r ffordd ymlaen oherwydd –fel mae’n sefyll ar hyn o bryd- pan mae pethau’n digwydd mewn gêm nid oes neb yn rhoi ystyriaeth i safbwynt y chwaraewyr.
“Yn dilyn y gêm arbennig hon –pan godwyd materion efo fo- roedd yr aseswr ond yn mynd ati i gyfiawnhau penderfyniadau’r dyfarnwr,” oedd sylw Viv.

Rheolwr y Trallwng - Tomi Morgan - yn ceisio dylanwadu ar benderfyniad y dyfarnwr.
Welshpool manager - Tomi Morgan - tries to influence the referee's decision.

The performance of match official Kerry Morgan continues to be the main talking point following Saturday’s home game against Welshpool Town. Viv Williams, not a manager to pin the blame on match officials when results go against him, remarked that “Some of the decisions were beyond me.” In an effort to make a constructive comment about the situation, he urged the WPL to look again at its assessment arrangements.
"It is about time the league looked at their assessment arrangements and agreed to involve ex-players alongside the ex-referees, who are used currently.
"That is the way forward, because - as things stand now - the players' viewpoint on various situations that can occur during a match is not taken into account.
"After this particular game, the assessor - when we raised certain issues with him - merely set out to justify the referee's decisions," he added.

Richard Hughes yn dychwelyd / Richard Hughes returns

Richard HughesMae’r chwaraewr profiadol ac amryddawn Richard Hughes yn dychwelyd i’r Traeth ar ôl cyfnod byr gyda Llangefni. Nid yw Boskin wedi cael llawer o gyfleoedd i ymddangos ers symud i’r clwb o Ynys Môn dros yr haf, gan ddechrau 4 gêm yn unig iddynt y tymor hwn. Mae disgwyl iddo ymddangos i’r ail dîm fory. Rydym yn deall fod dau chwaraewr arall yn y broses o arwyddo ar hyn o bryd.

Experienced utility player Richard Hughes is to return to the Traeth after a short spell at Llangefni Town. Boskin has only made a limited number of appearances since joining the Anglesey club over the summer, and has only started 4 matches this season. He is expected to appear for the reserves tomorrow. We understand that two other players are currently in the process of signing.

Rhagolwg: Port v Y Trallwng / Preview: Port v Welshpool

Trallwng / WelshpoolSiom oedd methu allan ar gêm ddydd Sadwrn gan ei bod y math o gêm a oedd yn cynnig cyfle i Port sicrhau buddugoliaeth o’r diwedd ar Y Traeth. Nid oedd y gohirio heb ei bendithion gan fod yn gyfle i chwaraewyr fel Carl Owen a John Gwynfor ddod dros eu anafiadau. Mae methu ennill mewn tair gêm yn erbyn timau yn hanner isaf y tabl yn golygu fod rhaid i Port godi pwyntiau yn erbyn rhai o geffylau blaen y gynghrair gan gychwyn efo’r Trallwng. Mae’n dasg anodd ond nid yn amhosib o gofio’r fuddugoliaeth dda ar Faesydre. Hefyd roedd yna fuddugoliaeth wych dros Llanelli a pherfformiadau da eraill yn erbyn rhai o dimau gorau’r gynghrair adref yn erbyn TNS ac ar Ffordd Ffarar yn erbyn Bangor. Rhaid sicrhau canlyniadau i gyd-fynd gyda pherfformiadau da gan dorri allan y camgymeriadau gwirion a chymryd y cyfleoedd ar yr adegau tyngedfennol. Nid yw’r Trallwng wedi bod ar eu gorau’n ddiweddar yn ennill ond un o’u chwe gêm ddiwethaf gan lithro i’r 7fed safle. Port sydd wedi ennill tair o’r bedair gêm gynghrair ddiwethaf ar Y Traeth, rhwng y ddau glwb, gyda’r llall yn gorffen yn gyfartal. Bydd Gerard McGuigan a Kyle Jacobs, dau o gyn chwaraewyr Port, yng ngharfan y gwrthwynebwyr ddydd Sadwrn.

It was disappointing to miss out on a game on Saturday especially one which possibly could have provided the club with the opportunity of notching up a home win. It has some benefit however, giving players like Carl Owen and John Gwynfor an extra week to get over injuries. The failure to win against three clubs in the bottom half of the table now means that Port have to take points from some of the league’s front runners, starting with Welshpool. It is a difficult task but by no means impossible bearing in mind the fact that Port defeated Welshpool on their own ground and that by a clear margin. There was also the away win over Llanelli and some other good performances against some of the league’s better clubs at home to TNS and away at Bangor. We now need results to match the performances and the silly mistakes must be cut out while chances at vital stages of the game must be taken. Welshpool have not been in the best of form recently winning only one of their last six games slipping to 7th place. Port have run out winners in three of the last four league matches played between the clubs at the Traeth with the other ending in a draw. In the Welshpool squad on Saturday will be two ex-Port players –Gerard McGuigan and Kyle Jacobs.

Newid i’r Ffenestr Drosglwyddo / Change to Transfer Window

FAWMae’r Gymdeithas Bêl Droed wedi ymateb i feirniadaeth eang o’u threfniadau ar gyfer y ffenestr drosglwyddo drwy gynnig un newid bychan. Yn ystod tymor 2007/08 roedd llawer o’r cynghreiriau yn agor a chau y ffenestr ar wahanol ddyddiadau. Roedd ffenestr y Cymru Alliance yn dal ar agor ar ôl i un Uwch Gynghrair Cymru (UGC) gau. Oherwydd hyn, roedd chwaraewyr yn medru trosglwyddo i’r Cymru Alliance i gael gwell siawns o chwarae gêmau’n rheolaidd ond nid oedd yn bosib i’r clybiau yn UGC arwyddo neb yn eu lle. Bwriad y cynllun newydd ydy sicrhau fwy o unoliaeth gan hefyd ganiatáu i glybiau sydd wedi ennill lle yng nghystadlaethau UEFA gofrestru chwaraewyr.
Y dyddiadau ar gyfer y ffenest yn 2008/09 fydd o ddydd Gwener 4 Gorffennaf tan ddydd Gwener 26 Medi a hefyd y cyfan o fis Ionawr. Bydd y drefn yma at y tymor nesaf yn berthnasol i bob cynghrair sy’n aelodau uniongyrchol o’r Gymdeithas Bêl Droed.
Mae’n annhebyg y bydd y newid hwn yn ddigon i fodloni y clybiau sy’n gweld y Ffenestr Drosglwyddo fel trefn sy’n addas i gynghreiriau mawr Ewrop fel Yr Eidal, Sbaen a Lloegr ac i glybiau cyfoethog gyda charfannau enfawr. Nid ydynt yn gweld hon yn drefn berthnasol i gynghrair lle mae mwyafrif llethol y clybiau yn rhan amser. Bydd y clybiau hyn yn dal i ofyn os ydy eu hachos wedi’i gyflwyno’n ddigon cryf o flaen UEFA.

Cymru AllianceThe FAW, faced with widespread criticism of their Transfer Window arrangements, has reacted by proposing a minor change. During the current season, leagues had differing windows with windows in feeder leagues, including the Cymru Alliance, remaining open after the closure of the WPL window. This had the potential effect of WPL fringe players transferring to the Cymru Alliance in search of more regular games. WPL clubs could not immediately replace these players. The new plan is aimed at creating uniformity and will also allow clubs that qualify for UEFA competitions to register players.
The dates proposed are from Friday 4 July to Friday 26 September and the whole of January 2009. This will apply to all directly affiliated leagues in Wales next season.
It is doubtful whether this change will satisfy clubs who see the Transfer Window as being best suited to major leagues in Italy, Spain and England and to wealthy clubs with massive squads and not to a league where clubs are largely part-time. These clubs will continue to ask whether their case has been voiced strongly enough with UEFA.

Cynghrair i Ail Dimau yn cael ei drafod / A reserve league being discussed

Mae naw o dimau Uwch Gynghrair Cymru (UGC) wedi dangos diddordeb mewn ymuno â Chynghrair i Ail Dimau’r Gogledd sef: Porthmadog, Caernarfon, Bangor, Llangefni, Cei Conna, Airbus Brychdyn, Y Trallwng, Y Drenewydd a TNS.
Y bwriad ar hyn o bryd ydy ffurfio cynghrair wedi’i rhannu i dair adran ddaearyddol: Gorllewin, Canol a Dwyrain.
Dyma’r clybiau a allai ffurfio adran y gorllewin: Porthmadog , Bangor, Caernarfon, Glan Conwy, Llandudno, Cyffordd Llandudno, Llanfairpwll, Llangefni, Llanrwst, Pwllheli a Chaergybi.
Mae’n ymddangos nad yw’r cynigion yma yn mynd i dderbyn sêl bendith y cynghreiriau rhanbarthol gyda gwefan swyddogol Cynghrair Clwyd yn datgan “ Mae Cymdeithas Arfordir y Gogledd, Cynghrair Clwyd, Cynghrair Caernarfon a’r Cylch a Chynghrair Ynys Môn i gyd yn gwrthwynebu, fel mater o egwyddor, ffurfio cynghrair i Ail Dimau yng Ngogledd Cymru.

A North Wales Reserve League is at the discussion stage and nine WPL clubs have expressed an interest in the proposal: Porthmadog, Caernarfon, Bangor, Llangefni, Connah’s Quay, Airbus Broughton, Welshpool, TNS and Newtown.
The initial intention is a league split into three divisions on geographical lines: Eastern, Central and Western.
The clubs who could form the Western Region are: Porthmadog FC, Bangor City, Caernarfon Town, Glan Conwy, Holyhead Hotspur, Llandudno, Llandudno Junction, Llanfairpwll, Llangefni Town, Llanrwst United, Pwllheli.
It appears that the new proposals have not met with the approval of the feeder leagues with the Clwyd League official website saying: "For the record the NWCFA, Gwynedd League, Clwyd League, Caernarfon Area, and Anglesey Ynys Môn Leagues have in principle objected to the formation of such league(s) in North Wales."

Fandaliaeth hurt ar Y Traeth / Senseless Vandalism at the Traeth

Phil JonesSiomwyd cadeirydd y clwb, Phil Jones, pan gyrhaeddodd y Traeth yn gynnar fore Sadwrn i weld arwyddion amlwg o fandaliaeth. Roedd ffenestri’r Cantîn wedi eu torri a llawer o ddifrod dibwrpas wedi’i achosi.
Treuliwyd llawer o amser ac ymdrech a gwariwyd arian mawr dros y misoedd a’r blynyddoedd diwethaf i uwchraddio’r cyfleusterau ar Y Traeth. Mae’r clwb newydd wedi bod yn destun balchder i’r swyddogion a’r cefnogwyr ac yn cynnig cyfleuster hwylus i’r gymdeithas leol.
“Ein bwriad ydy cydweithio gyda’r rhai sydd am godi arian, yn enwedig ar gyfer achosion da, yn y gobaith y medrwn eu cynorthwyo i gyflawni eu hamcanion. Mae gennym gyfleusterau cyfforddus i’w galluogi i wneud hyn,” meddai ysgrifennydd y clwb Gerallt Owen.
Mae’n siomedig felly i weld cyfleusterau da fel rhain yn cael eu fandaleiddio gan yr ychydig difeddwl. Yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf, gwelwyd gwelliannau sylweddol ar Y Traeth gyda’r goleuadau yn cael eu uwchraddio. Hefyd mae’r cae, sydd ymysg y goreuon o gaeau Uwch Gynghrair Cymru, wedi derbyn sylw pellach.
Byddai swyddogion y clwb yn gwerthfawrogi unrhyw wybodaeth a allai alluogi’r Heddlu ddod o hyd i’r fandaliaid yma, a byddai hyn yn help i leihau’r gwariant fydd angen ar gyfer trwsio ar Y Traeth.

Port Chairman, Phil Jones, was dismayed to be greeted with obvious signs of vandalism when he arrived at the Traeth early on Saturday morning. Windows had been broken in the Canteen and much pointless damage had been caused.
A great deal of time, effort and money has been spent over the past months and years upgrading the Traeth generally. The new clubhouse has been a source of pride to club officials and supporters alike with its stated aim of providing the wider locality with a valuable facility.
“We aim to work with local charities and fund raisers and hopefully help them with their aims. We have a comfortable facility which we believe can enhance their efforts.” said club secretary Gerallt Owen.
It is extremely disappointing when excellent facilities such as these are vandalised by a mindless few. The last years have seen major improvements at the ground with the upgrading of the floodlights and the provision of a playing surface which is amongst the best in the WPL.
Club Officials would appreciate any information which could enable the police to apprehend these individuals and so reduce the expenditure on repairs at the Traeth.

Jacobs yn gadael / Jacobs leaves Port

Kyle JacobsMae Kyle Jacobs yn gadael Porthmadog i ymuno â’r Trallwng. Bu cyn chwaraewr Mansfield a Macclesfield yn chwaraewr allweddol i’r clwb wrth iddynt barhau â’r frwydr i osgoi disgyn o’r Uwch Gynghrair. Sgoriodd gôl arbennig gyda ergyd o 30 llath yn erbyn Y Drenewydd bythefnos yn ôl a hefyd gôl yn y fuddugoliaeth dros Llangefni ar wyl San Steffan. Nid oedd ar gael am y gêm yn Hwlffordd ddydd Sadwrn diwethaf pan chwaraeodd Danny Hughes yn safle’r cefnwr de.

Kyle Jacobs is to leave Port and join Welshpool Town. The former Mansfield and Macclesfield defender has been in outstanding form for Porthmadog recently in their battle against relegation. He scored an outstanding goal against Newtown at the Traeth a fortnight ago with a 30 yard special and also scored in the victory at Llangefni on Boxing Day. He was not available for the away fixture at Haverfordwest when Danny Hughes played in the right back position.

Rhagolwg: Airbus Brychdyn / Preview: Airbus Broughton

Airbus Brychdyn/Broughton“Mae hon yn gêm eithriadol o bwysig gyda’r gêmau sy’n weddill yn prinhau,” ydy asesiad y rheolwr Viv Williams o’r dasg sydd yn aros eu dîm wrth i Airbus ymweld â’r Traeth ddydd Sadwrn. Dros y chwe gêm ddiwethaf, mae record y ddau glwb yn ddigon tebyg gyda’r ddau dîm yn ennill ddwywaith ond gyda clwb y Maes Awyr hefyd yn codi pwynt gwerthfawr oddi cartref. A dyna chi’r gwahaniaeth rhwng y ddau glwb eleni gyda Airbus yn ennill ond un gêm yn fwy na Porthmadog ond maent hefyd wedi dal allan i sicrhau chwe gêm gyfartal a felly codi pwyntiau sydd yn eu codi i’r 12fed safle yn y tabl. Dros y tymhorau diwethaf, Port oedd arbenigwyr y gynghrair ar sicrhau gêmau cyfartal ond eleni nid oes yr un o’u gêmau wedi gorffen yn gyfartal. Gwahaniaeth arall yn record y ddau glwb yw fod Port heb ennill yr un o’u deg gêm ar y Traeth tra fod yr ymwelwyr wedi sicrhau ond un buddugoliaeth oddi cartref.
Mae’n hen bryd torri ar y record adref’ wael hon. Meddai Viv, “Da ni’n cystadlu ac yn chwarae’n ddigon da ond mae’n hen bryd cael ychydig mwy o lwc.”
Chwaraewyr i gadw llygad arnynt: Paul Hallows a James McIntosh prif sgorwyr yr ymwelwyr a hefyd y chwaraewr rheolwr profiadol Gareth Owen. Port: Mark Thomas yn chwarae ei gêm gyntaf ar Y Traeth mewn crys Port a Mike Foster yn cychwyn gêm 350 yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Bydd hon hefyd yn gêm bwysig i Alan Bickerstaff yn erbyn ei hen glwb ac i Gareth Caughter yn dychwelyd i’r Traeth.

“It’s an absolutely crucial game: we’re running out of matches” is manager Viv Williams’s assessment of the task awaiting Porthmadog when Airbus visit the Traeth on Saturday. The form of the two sides over the last six games is similar; with both sides having gained two wins but with Airbus having picked up one more point thanks to a valuable away draw. And there lies the difference in the records of the two sides over the season with Airbus only notching one more victory than Port but having ground out valuable points from six drawn games. Port, the league’s draw specialists over the last two or three seasons, have yet to play a drawn game either home or away. Another notable difference between the two sides is that Port have yet to win a game at home in ten outings while Airbus have only won one game on their travels this term. There could be no better time to break the poor run at home than on Saturday and there is no obvious reason for these poor results for as Viv says “We’re competing and playing well enough but we need that little change of luck.”
Players to look out for: Paul Hallows and James McIntosh the leading scorers for the visitors and their experienced player-manager Gareth Owen. For Port: Mark Thomas making his home debut and Mike Foster in his 350th WPL game. It will also be an important game for Alan Bickerstaff against his old club and for Gareth Caughter returning to the Traeth.

Carreg Filltir arall i Mike / Mike reaches another milestone

Mike FosterGyda lwc, bydd cefnwr chwith Porthmadog, Mike Foster, yn cyrraedd carreg filltir arall yn ei yrfa lwyddiannus pêl droed os bydd yn cynrychioli’r clwb ar Y Traeth ddydd Sadwrn pan fydd Airbus Brychdyn yn ymweld. Dechreuodd Mike gêm 349 yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru (UGC) ddydd Sadwrn diwethaf yn Hwlffordd felly gobeithir ei weld yn dod yn un o ond naw o chwaraewyr sydd wedi cyrraedd y nôd o gychwyn 350 o gemau UGC yn eu gyrfa. Y chwaraewyr eraill sydd wedi cyrraedd y nôd hwn ydy Colin Reynolds (Caersws), Gary Lloyd (Llanelli), Andy Mulliner(Caersws), Tim Edwards (Derwyddon Cefn), Andrew Thomas (Caersws), Andrew Rickard (Afan Lido), Hugh Clarke (Y Drenewydd) ac Anthony Griffiths (Caersws). Mae Mike wedi chwarae 301 o’r gêmau yma dros Port a’r gweddill dros Aberystwyth a Bangor.

With luck, supporters of Porthmadog will see their left back, Mike Foster, achieve another milestone in his football career at the Traeth on Saturday when Airbus Broughton are the visitors. Mike started WPL game 349 last Saturday at Haverfordwest and is likely therefore to reach the landmark of becoming one of only nine players to start 350 WPL games since the commencement of the league. The others who have reached this target are Colin Reynolds (Caersws), Gary Lloyd (Llanelli), Andy Mulliner(Caersws), Tim Edwards (Cefn Druids), Andrew Thomas (Caersws), Andrew Rickard (Afan Lido), Hugh Clarke (Newtown) ac Anthony Griffiths (Caersws). Mike has played 301 of these games for Porthmadog with the others being played for Aberystwyth and Bangor.

Mark Thomas yn ymuno o Gaernarfon / Mark Thomas joins from Caernarfon

Mark Thomas (welsh-premier.com)Mewn ymdrech i gryfhau canol cae, mae Viv wedi arwyddo Mark Thomas o Gaernarfon. Bydd y chwaraewr cadarn a digyfaddawd hwn yn sicr o roi hwb i obeithion Port o osgoi’r gwymp ac yn helpu llenwi’r bwlch yn dilyn penderfyniad Warren Beattie i adael i Fleetwood Town. Mae Thomas, a ymunodd â Chaernarfon o Glantraeth y tymor diwethaf, wedi ymddangos 18 gwaith i’r clwb eleni. Mae Mark wedi ymddangos mewn cyfanswm o 53 o gemau yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru mewn cyfnodau gyda Bangor, Rheadr a Chemaes.

In an attempt to strengthen midfield, Viv has signed Mark Thomas from Caernarfon Town. This solid and uncompromising player will definitely provide a boost to Port’s hopes of avoiding the drop and will help to fill the gap left by Warren Beattie’s decision to depart to Fleetwood Town. Thomas, who joined Caernarfon from Glantraeth last season, has appeared 18 times for the club this year. Mark has appeared in a total of 53 Welsh Premier games in previous spells at Bangor, Rhayader and Cemaes Bay.

Rhagolwg: Hwlffordd v Port / Preview: Haverfordwest v Port

Hwlffordd / HaverfordwestGêm anodd sy’n wynebu Port wrth ymweld â Hwlffordd, tîm sydd wedi cael canlyniadau gwell yn ddiweddar gan gynnwys buddugoliaeth ddwbl dros Aberystwyth dros y gwyliau. Ond, mae yna resymau dros fod yn obeithiol a hynny er gwaethaf colli dwy gêm ar Y Traeth. Wrth i’r pwysau gynyddu gyda phob gêm, daw pethau heblaw am sgiliau a thactegau yn bwysicach. Mae’r garfan wedi ennill enw dros y tymhorau diwethaf am eu gallu i frwydro hyd yn oed pan fod eu cefnau yn erbyn y wal. Gyda mwyafrif y garfan wedi chwarae gyda’i gilydd dros nifer o dymhorau, bydd y parodrwydd i frwydro dros ei gilydd yn dod yn hynod o bwysig. Hefyd mae Port wedi sgorio 3 gôl y gêm, ar gyfartaledd, dros y bedair gêm ddiwethaf ond fel y nodwyd gan Viv, cyn y gêm yn erbyn Y Drenewydd, “Da ni wedi bod yn chwarae yn fwy ymosodol gan fod hyn wedi bod yn gweithio i ni ond mae’n ein gadael yn agored i wrth ymosodiadau,” –geiriau proffwydol. Prin fod Port wedi creu gymaint o gyfleoedd a wnaethant ddydd Sadwrn gyda pheli gwych yn cael eu chwarae tu ôl i’r amddiffyn ac yn cael eu gosod yn berffaith i anelu am y gôl. Os gaiff mwy o’r cyfleoedd yma eu derbyn, bydd dipyn o’r pwysau yn cael ei dynnu oddi ar yr amddiffyn. Trydydd rheswm am fod yn obeithiol ydy fod Port, er y canlyniadau gwael yn erbyn Hwlffordd ar Y Traeth, wedi dychwelyd o’u tri ymweliad diwethaf â chae Dolybont gyda phwynt bob tro.

Porthmadog face a difficult away fixture at Haverfordwest against a team who have shown improved form over recent weeks and who also gained a significant holiday double over Aberystwyth. There are however reasons for optimism for Porthmadog supporters despite two home defeats. As the pressure mounts with each game things other than skills and tactics must play their part. The squad has earned a reputation over the last few seasons for their fighting spirit and their ability to battle with their backs against the wall. Most of the squad have been together for several years and this bond will now be important. Porthmadog have scored an average of three goals a game over the last four games and, as Viv noted prior to the Newtown game, “We have been playing more offensively because it has been working for us but it does leave you open to counter attacks,” -words which proved all too prophetic. But Port have rarely created more chances than they did on Saturday with excellent through balls and great lay offs. It is up now to the forwards to take more of these chances and by doing so taking the pressure off the defence. A third reason for optimism is that Port, despite their poor home results against Haverfordwest, have returned from their last three visits to the Bridge Meadow with a point each time.

Newidiadau mawr i ddod i Uwch Gynghrair Cymru? / Major changes ahead for WPL?

Alun EvansMae cynnig chwyldroadol i adrefnu Uwch Gynghrair Cymru i’w drafod heddiw gan gynrychiolwyr Uwch Gynghrair Cymru (UGC). Cynigir y newidiadau mewn dogfen o’r enw ‘Cynllun Strategol Cymdeithas Pêl Droed Cymru 2007-2012.’ Bydd y ffaith mai Alun Evans, y cyn ysgrifennydd cyffredinol, ydy’r awdur yn rhoi fwy o gredinedd i’r ddogfen nac y mae’n arferol rhoi i’r math yma o gynigion. Er mae’n debyg y bydd y ddogfen yn cael ei gwrthod gan gynrychiolwyr y clybiau, mae gan y Gymdeithas Bêl droed bleidlais y cadeirydd a allai adael iddynt wthio’r cynigion drwyddo yn wyneb pob gwrthwynebiad. Pe byddai’r gymdeithas yn mynd ymlaen â’r adrefnu, bydd 5 o glybiau yn disgyn o UGC ar ddiwedd y tymor.
Isod gwelir rhai o’r newidiadau sy'n cael eu cynig:

A major bombshell has erupted on the Welsh Premier scene. A radical re-organisation of the league is to be discussed today by the WPL representatives. The changes are proposed in a 16-page report called ‘FAW Strategic Plan 2007-2012’. The fact that the report has been written by experienced former general secretary, Alun Evans, gives these proposals more credence than suggestions of this type usually receive. Though the report is likely to be rejected by the WPL clubs, the FAW hold a casting vote on the Welsh Premier board and can use it to get their own way. Should the report be accepted it means that 5 clubs will be relegated from the WPL at the end of the season.
Below are some of the proposed changes:

Uwch Gynghrair Cymru / Welsh PremierThe changes aim to give the 'big three' a route into Europe and see the Welsh Premier reduced in size from 18 to 16 members.
It would therefore end the European exile of the big three league clubs and they would be eligible to go for Champions League and Uefa Cup places in 2009 as a result of finishing in the top places in the table.
The report states a change in power at Uefa, where Michel Platini has taken over from Gerard Aigner as the main man, presents a favourable window of opportunity for the Big Three which "must be seized"
Evans’ report to the FAW states that while playing standards have improved, the public perception of the league is poor and its national status questioned by the absence of teams from Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham.
The FAW have been told that should the status quo remain, it will be "absolutely detrimental" to Welsh football and that the inclusion of the big three would enhance the league in terms of attendances, playing and refereeing standards, better stadia and results in Europe.

Y Chwaraewyr yn derbyn profion Echocardiogram / Players undergo Echocardiogram tests

EchocardiogramMae chwaraewyr y deunaw clwb sydd yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru y Principality, ac yn cynrychioli’r tîm cyntaf wedi bod yn cael profion Echocardiogram yn ystod y tymor. Cyflwynwyd y profion yn rhan o gynllun Trwyddedi Clybiau UEFA ac mae digwyddiadau yn yr Alban lle mae unigolyn fel capten Motherwell Phil O’Donnell, a oedd yn ymddangos yn gwbl ffit, yn marw yn arswydus o gyflym yn tanlinellu’r pwysigrwydd o wneud y profion.
Bu’r chwaraewyr yn cyfarfod rhwng Medi a Rhagfyr i gymryd y prawf sgrinio chardiac gan Gwmni External Health Vision Xi, cwmni sy’n defnyddio cardiolegwyr sydd ymysg y gorau ym Mhrydain.

All first team players in the eighteen Principality Welsh Premier League clubs have been undergoing Echocardiogram tests this season. These tests have been substantially subsidised, to the tune of almost £50,000, by the Football Association of Wales, in order to reduce the risk of having a tragic occurrence at any Welsh Premier ground. The tests have been introduced as part of the UEFA Club Licensing scheme. The tragic events in Scotland, where an apparently fit and healthy individual, like Motherwell captain Phil O’Donnell, can die with shocking speed emphasise the importance of carrying out these tests.
The players at the League's clubs have been meeting between September and December to undergo the 40 minute cardiac screening by External Company Health Vision Xi, who use some of the best and most highly respected Cardiologists in the UK.

Y Ffenest Drosglwyddo o safbwynt Viv / Transfer Window as Viv sees it

Viv WilliamsYn ei golofn yn y rhaglen ar gyfer ddydd Sadwrn, cafwyd rhai o feddyliau Viv Williams ynglyn â’r ffenest drosglwyddo sydd newydd agor.
“Mae’r ffenest drosglwyddo yn annog disgwyliadau uchel,” oedd ei sylw “ac mae’r bêl yn gyfan gwbl yng nghwrt y chwaraewyr. Mae’n anodd cael y chwaraewyr sydd eu hangen arnoch gan fod nifer wedi’u clymu ar gytundebau neu yn anfodlon teithio neu yn amharod i fod yn rhan o frwydr yn y gwaelodion.
“Mae llawer o gyfyngiadau sydd yn gwneud Ionawr yn gyfnod ddigon gwirion i fod yn ceisio arwyddo chwaraewyr. Nid yw’n gyfnod da i wneud busnes. Ond er hynny, byddwn yn sicr yn ceisio mewn pob ffordd i gryfhau’r garfan.”
Mae Viv yn bwriadu dod â dau chwaraewr arall i mewn yn fuan i ddilyn Richie Owen a chwaraeodd ddydd Sadwrn. Mae'n awgrymu y bydd un o’r rhain yn golwr, “Rhaid dod â golwr i mewn rhag ofn i Richard Harvey gael anaf. Mae’n holl bwysig gan fod safle’r golwr yn un arbenigol.”

Viv Williams in his ‘View from the Bench’ column in Saturday’s match programme gave his views on the recently opened transfer window.
“The transfer window is encouraging high expectations,” he commented “but it puts the ball very much in the players’ court. It is difficult to get the players you need, many are tied up on contract while others are unwilling to travel or just not ready to get involved in a relegation dog fight.
“There are many restrictions and the January transfer is more like the silly season and it’s not the best time to be doing business. But I can assure you that every avenue will be tried so that we can improve.
He aims to bring in another two players to follow Richie Owen who played against Newtown. One of these he suggests will be a goal keeper. “It is vital that we bring in cover for Richard Harvey in this specialist position.”

Mis Rhagfyr yr Ail Dîm / Reserves December Round-up

Yn dilyn eu rhediad da diweddar, cododd yr ail dîm i’r trydydd safle yn y tabl am gyfnod byr cyn disgyn yn ôl ar ôl colli ar Y Traeth o 3-1 yn erbyn Bermo y tîm sydd ar ben y tabl ar hyn o bryd. Ceri Roberts sgoriodd gôl hwyr i Port. Yng nghynt yn y mis, cafwyd dwy fuddugoliaeth dda gyda’r gyntaf yn erbyn Cemaes o 15-0 yn record i’r clwb a’r Gynghrair. Sgoriodd Matthew Hughes chwe gôl yn y gêm hon. Dilynwyd hyn gyda buddugoliaeth o 3-1 ffwrdd ym Modedern gyda Ceri Roberts yn sgorio dwy gôl a Matthew Hughes yn sgorio’r gôl arall. Roedd hon yn fuddugoliaeth bwysig yn erbyn tîm sydd wedi cryfhau yn ddiweddar ar ôl i dîm cyntaf y clwb dynnu allan o’r Welsh Alliance. Bu’n rhaid gohirio’r ddwy gêm arall yn ystod y mis oherwydd cyflwr y caeau sef yr un ar 4 Rhagfyr yn erbyn Bethel a’r gêm yn erbyn Y Bontnewydd ar 29 Rhagfyr.

Following a good recent run, the reserves rose briefly to third place in the table before slipping back again following a 3-1 home defeat against current league leaders Barmouth. Ceri Roberts scored a late consolation goal for Porthmadog. Earlier in the month they secured two good wins with the first against Cemaes being a record 15-0 winning margin with leading scorer Matthew Hughes scoring a double hat trick. They followed this with an important 3-1 away win at Bodedern a team which has strengthened considerably since their first team was withdrawn from the Welsh Alliance. The goals came from Matthew Hughes and two from Ceri Roberts. The other two games, against Bethel at the beginning of the month and Bontnewydd at the end, were postponed because of waterlogged pitches.

Rhagolwg: Port v Y Drenewydd / Preview: Port v Newtown

Ar y ddau achlysur, roedd y gêm tu hwnt i Port cyn i hanner awr o’r gêm fynd heibio. Ond mae’r datblygiad o dan Viv Williams ac Alan Bickerstaff yn glir i unrhyw un i’w weld a felly ni ddylem ddisgwyl 45 munud tebyg ddydd Sadwrn. Er hynny, mae’r cefnogwyr yn gofyn “Pam na allwn ennill adref?” Mae sawl damcaniaeth yn cael ei chynnig. Mae’r cae yn rhy llydan ac yn ei gwneud yn anodd i amddiffyn. Un arall -mae wyneb y cae yn rhy dda ac mae timau yn dod yna ac yn codi eu gêm. Os felly dylai’r cae hefyd siwtio’r tîm sydd yn chwarae arno yn rheolaidd! Na dim ond sicrhau un buddugoliaeth sydd angen a gwnaiff y gweddill ddilyn. Byddai’n dda cychwyn ddydd Sadwrn ond, er ei rhediad gwael diweddar, bydd Y Drenewydd am osgoi cael eu tynnu ymhellach i’r frwydr yn y gwaelodion. Nid yw’n ddoeth chwaith cymryd dim yn ganiataol pan fydd Marc Lloyd Williams ymysg y gwrthwynebwyr. Hefyd mae’r chwaraewr profiadol Justin Wickam wedi dychwelyd i’r clwb. Y Drenewydd enillodd y tro diwethaf ar Y Traeth ond, yn y chwech gêm diwethaf y tymor hwn, maent heb yr un fuddugoliaeth.

Porthmadog have two good reasons, apart from the obvious one of needing the points, for putting on a performance for their supporters on Saturday. First and foremost, they need to get the nightmare 45 minutes against Llangefni out of their systems and also they will not need reminding of a similar 45 minutes against Newtown at Latham Park early in the season. On both those occasions, the game was out of Porthmadog’s reach before the game had reached the half hour mark. The progress made under Viv Williams and his assistant Alan Bickerstaff is clear for all to see so we should not anticipate a repeat of Tuesday’s performance. But supporters are asking “Why can’t Port win at home?” A number of theories are doing the rounds. The pitch is too wide making it difficult to defend. The surface is too good so the opposition teams enjoy playing on the Traeth and so raise their game. But a good surface should surely also suit the home team who also play on it regularly. No it’s not a case of theories: more a case of get one home win under your belt and the rest will follow. Saturday would be a good time to start but Newtown, despite their poor recent run of form, will also be keen to pick up all important points as they are being dragged into the relegation battle. Nothing can be taken for granted against any team with Marc Lloyd Williams as its spearhead. The experienced Justin Wickam has also returned to the club. Newtown were winners last time out at the Traeth but their recent form shows that they are without a win in the last six outings.
