Newyddion am drosglwyddiadau / Transfer News

Warren BeattieMae’n ymddangos yn weddol sicr bellach fod Warren Beattie, a gafodd ei hyfforddiant yn academi Preston North End, wedi chwarae ei gêm olaf i Borthmadog. Mae’n debygol y bydd ei drosglwyddiad i glwb Fleetwood yn digwydd yn ystod yr wythnos hon. Rydym yn gwybod fod Warren wedi cael y teithio o’i gartref yn Preston yn dipyn o broblem. Chwaraeodd 15 o gemau cynghrair dros Port gan ddechrau gyda’r gêm yn erbyn Hwlffordd ar 9 Medi. Sgoriodd un gôl a daeth honno yn y gêm yn erbyn Caerfyrddin. Enillodd Warren edmygedd y cefnogwyr gyda’i berfformiadau cryf a chaled yng nghanol y cae ac, er y gwelwn ei golli, dymunwn yn dda iddo yn y dyfodol.
Chwaraewr arall sydd yn symud ydy Jason Sadler. Mae Jason yn dychwelyd i un o’i gyn glybiau sef Llangefni. Sgoriodd Jason yn gyson ar ddechrau ei gyfnod gyda Port ond y tymor hwn mae ei gyfleoedd wedi bod yn weddol brin. Mae’n gadael gyda’r gobaith o gael mwy o bêl droed tîm cyntaf a hynny fel blaenwr.
Er nad oes sôn pendant am chwaraewyr newydd yn symud i mewn, bellach mae Gareth Owen, amddiffynnwr canol o Glantraeth sydd wedi bod yn chwarae i’r ail dîm, ar gael i gemau UGC. Deellir hefyd fod y clwb â diddordeb mewn dod â Richie Owen yn ôl i’r Traeth o glwb Glantraeth. Credir hefyd bod Port wedi rhoi rhybudd 7 niwrnod ar chwaraewr canol cae sydd yn bresennol gyda chlwb yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru.

Jason SadlerIt now appears certain that Warren Beattie, the Preston North End Academy product, has played his last game for Porthmadog. His transfer to Fleetwood Town is likely to go through this week. It has been known that Warren has found the travelling from his Preston home a bit of an ordeal. He made 15 league appearances for Porthmadog making his debut on September 9th against Haverfordwest and scored once against Carmarthen. Warren has earned the admiration of supporters for his powerful ball winning performances in midfield and, though he will be badly missed by the club, we wish him well in the future.
Another player on the move is Jason Sadler who will be returning to Llangefni, one of his former clubs. Jason, after scoring freely when he first signed for Port, has not featured regularly this season and leaves hoping to get more first team football in a striking role with his new club.
Though there is no definite news regarding players moving in, Gareth Owen, the former Glantraeth central defender who has been playing for the reserves, will now be available for first team selection. Port have also shown interest in bringing in another Glantraeth player, Richie Owen The midfield player has of course previously played for Port in the WPL. It is also believed that Porthmadog have put a 7 days notice of approach for a midfielder who is currently playing in the WPL.

TNS v Port - newid dyddiad / TNS v Port – change of date

TNSMae’r gêm gynghrair, a oedd i fod i gael ei chwarae yng Nghroesoswallt ar nos Fawrth, 22 Ionawr, wedi’i hadrefnu ar gyfer ddydd Sadwrn, 2 Chwefror. Bydd hyn yn newyddion da i chwaraewyr a chefnogwyr gan na fyddai’r daith yn apelio llawer yng nghanol wythnos yr adeg hon o’r flwyddyn. Roedd y newid yn bosib’ gan fod 2 Chwefror yn ddyddiad ar gyfer Cwpan Cymru, cystadleuaeth lle nad oes diddordeb pellach ynddo gan yr un o’r ddau glwb.

The league fixture against TNS, that was to have been played at Oswestry on Tuesday evening, 22nd March, has been rearranged for Saturday, February 2nd. This will be good news for both players and supporters as a midweek journey at this time of year was not very appealing. The change was made possible by the fact that February 2nd is a Welsh Cup date and neither club has any further interest in that competition for this season.

Clayton Blackmore i chwarae yng Nghymru eto / Clayton Blackmore to return to WPL

Clayton BlackmoreMae cyn rheolwr Porthmadog, Clayton Blackmore, yn dychwelyd i chwarae yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Pan fydd y ffenestr drosglwyddo yn agor ar 1 Ionawr, disgwylir iddo ymuno â chlwb Castell Nedd, ei dref enedigol. Mae Castell Nedd wedi cael tymor cyntaf arbennig o dda yn UGC. Collodd Blackmore ei swydd ar y Traeth wrth i’r clwb gael dechrau trychinebus i dymor 2007-08 yn colli 10 o’u 12 gêm ac yn ennill ond unwaith.
Wrth iddo ymadael â’r Traeth, dywedodd Blackmore “Dwi ddim am orffen chwarae ar y fath nodyn. Ond dwi ddim chwaith am reoli clwb yn UGC eto.
“Efallai beth wnaf fydd ymarfer gydag Altrincham i fod yn ffit ar gyfer mis Ionawr a wedyn gweld pwy sy’n chwilio am chwaraewyr er mwyn gwthio ymlaen at ddiwedd y tymor.
“Efallai wna i chwarae i Gastell Nedd –roedd fy nhad yn chwarae iddyn nhw a byddai felly yn lle da i orffen.”

Former Porthmadog manager Clayton Blackmore is to return to the WPL as a player. When the January transfer window opens, he is to join his home town club, Neath Athletic, who have enjoyed an excellent first season in the WPL. Blackmore was relieved of the manager’s duties at Porthmadog after a disastrous start to the 2007-08 campaign with the club losing 10 of their 12 games played and managing only one win.
Following his dismissal from the Traeth, he remarked "I don't want to finish playing on that note But I'm not going to take another job as manager in the Welsh Premier.
“What I might do is go and train with Altrincham and get fit for January and then see who's looking for players for the last push to the end of the season.
"I might go and play for Neath - my old man used to play for them, so that would be a nice place to finish.”

Ffenestr Drosglwyddo yn Agor / Transfer Window Opens

Bydd y ffenestr drosglwyddo yn agor o ddydd Mawrth am y mis nesaf a gallwn ddisgwyl cryn dipyn o fynd a dod wrth i glybiau geisio cryfhau eu carfanau er mwyn osgoi mynd i lawr neu i wella’u cyfle o ennill y bencampwriaeth neu i sicrhau lle yn Ewrop. Mae’r ffenestr wedi bod yn fater dadleuol iawn ymysg y clybiau. Bu achos diweddar Caernarfon yn gorfod chwarae John Rowley yn y gôl am nad oeddynt yn medru arwyddo ail golwr yn dwyn dipyn o anfri ar y gynghrair. Sylw rheolwr Caernarfon, Steve O’Shaughnessy oedd, “Bydd rhaid gwneud rhywbeth ynglŷn â’r ffenestr drosglwyddo gan fod neb wedi elwa o’r rheol newydd.” Gallai Port hefyd fod wedi cael eu hunain yn yr un drafferth pe byddai Richard Harvey wedi’i frifo tu allan i adeg y ffenestr drosglwyddo. Cafodd Viv Williams y rheol hefyd yn broblem gan ddweud “ Mae’n waeth eto pan nad ydych wedi bod ynglŷn ag arwyddo’r garfan wreiddiol.”
Agwedd arall i’r broblem sydd yn poeni rheolwr Bangor, Neville Powell, gyda chwaraewyr di-gontract yn cael eu harwyddo gan glybiau yn Lloegr a chlybiau UGC yn methu arwyddo neb yn eu lle. Yr ateb yn ôl Powell ydy gwrthod caniatâd rhyngwladol i’r chwaraewyr yma er mwyn rhwystro symudiadau dros y ffin. “ Os bydd hyn y digwydd bydd yn well i bawb. Collodd Bangor Mark Smyth i Leigh RMI ac roedd dim modd ei rwystro.” Mae’r Gymdeithas yn anwybyddu’r broblem lle mae rhai o’r chwaraewyr gorau yn cael symud i Loegr a chwaraewyr ymylol yn symud i’r Cymru Alliance er mwyn chwarae’n rheolaidd. Mae’n amlwg fod yna angen i’r Gymdeithas weithredu.

The transfer window opens on Tuesday for the month of January and we can expect a number of comings and goings with teams strengthening squads with relegation worries in mind or to keep title hopes and hopes of European places alive. The window has been a matter of huge controversy amongst club officials and managers. Caernarfon’s recent plight where they have had to use outfield player John Rowley in goal turns the league, which the FAW call ‘our flagship competition’, into something of a farce. Caernarfon manager Steve O’Shaughnessy commented “We need to do something about the transfer window because I don’t think the new rule has benefited anybody.” Port could have found themselves in a similar situation to Caernarfon had Richard Harvey been injured outside the transfer window. Viv Williams found it a problem when he returned saying “It is even harder when you have to come in half way through and weren’t involved when the signings were made.”
Bangor manager Neville Powel has highlighted another side of the problem with non-contract players being signed by English clubs while at the same time clubs in the WPL are not able to replace them. Powell believes that the FAW should refuse international clearance to these cross border moves. “If that happens it will be a good thing for all of us. We lost Mark Smyth to Leigh RMI and there was nothing we could do to stop it.” The FAW seem to be ignoring the problem where top players can be lost to English clubs and fringe players, who want to play rather than sit on the bench, being tempted into the Cymru Alliance. Clearly there is room for action by the FAW.

Rhagolwg: Porthmadog v Llangefni / Preview: Porthmadog v Llangefni

LlangefniYn dilyn y fuddugoliaeth glir yn erbyn Llangefni ar Ffordd Talwrn ar Wyl Sant Steffan hawdd meddwl nad ydy’r ail ddarbi rhwng y ddau glwb yn ddim problem i Borthmadog. Ond mae’n werth cofio fod Llangefni, er yn anghyson, wedi sicrhau ambell ganlyniad da iawn. Mewn dwy o’u gêmau i ffwrdd yn ddiweddar, daeth y clwb o Fôn yn agos iawn i guro Caerfyrddin a dim ond gôl hwyr iawn a’u rhwystrodd rhag cipio tri phwynt ar Ffordd Ffarar yn erbyn Bangor sydd wedi bod ar rediad da yn ddiweddar. Bydd y rheolwr newydd Alex Kevan, a’i gynorthwy-ydd Phil Boersma, hefyd wedi cael ychydig o ddyddiau ychwanegol i ysbrydoli y clwb sydd erbyn hyn ar waelod y tabl. Deellir fod Paul Roberts, cyn chwaraewr Bae Colwyn, ymysg y chwaraewyr newydd i’w cynnwys yn y garfan Ond mae’r gêm yn gyfle pendant i Port ennill ar Y Traeth am y tro cyntaf y tymor hwn a dangos gymaint o welliant a welwyd yn ystod cyfres o gêmau oddi cartref yn ddiweddar. Gyda phum buddugoliaeth wedi dod mewn gêmau oddi cartref a 19 o goliau wedi’u sgorio, mae gobaith gwirioneddol erbyn hyn fod y clwb wedi troi’r gornel. Da yw gweld hefyd fod Paul Roberts a Carl Owen wedi bod yn taro cefn y rhwyd yn ddiweddar. Byddai’n dda gweld torf fawr ar y Traeth i ddathlu’r Flwyddyn Newydd.

Following their comfortable victory over Llangefni at Talwrn Road on Boxing Day supporters could be forgiven for assuming that the return derby game between the two clubs on New Year’s Day is a foregone conclusion. But it is well worth remembering that Llangefni, though inconsistent, have gained several excellent results. In two away matches recently the Anglesey club came close to defeating Carmarthen and only a very late goal at Farrar Road prevented them from defeating Bangor City, a club who have been in a good run of form recently. Alex Kevan the new manager, and his new assistant Phil Boersma, will also have had a few extra days to inspire the club who are now at the foot of the table. Amongst the new players Llangefni are reported to be hoping to include on Tuesday is Paul Roberts who has joined from Colwyn Bay. But the game is nevertheless an excellent opportunity for Porthmadog to record their first win of the season at the Traeth and show home supporters how far they have progressed during the recent series of away games. With five away wins and 19 goals being scored on the road there is now much evidence for believing that they have turned the corner. It is also good to see Paul Roberts and Carl Owen hitting the back of the net. The lads deserve a big crowd on New Year’s Day.

Gareth Parry yn agosáu at y 100 / Gareth Parry nears the 100

Gareth ParryMae’r chwaraewr dawnus canol cae, Gareth Parry, wedi chwarae 98 (+7) o weithiau i Borthmadog yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Felly dim ond iddo osgoi codi anaf yn erbyn Llangefni dylai gyrraedd y cant yn y gêm ar Y Traeth yn erbyn Y Drenewydd ar 5 Ionawr. Mae Gareth wedi chwarae 101 o weithiau i gyd yn UGC wrth hefyd gynnwys y tri ymddangosiad a wnaeth i Fangor.

Gareth Parry, Porthmadog’s talented midfielder, has, up to the present, started in 98 (+7) WPL games for the club. If he can avoid injury against Llangefni on Tuesday, he should reach his century in the game at the Traeth, against Newtown, on January 5th. All told, Gareth has already played 101 WPL games when his three starts for Bangor City are included.

Paul Roberts: Chwaraewr yr Wythnos / Paul Roberts: Player of the week

Paul RobertsEnwyd Paul Roberts yn ‘Chwaraewr yr Wythnos’ am yr wythnos ddiwethaf, gan wefan y welsh-premier. Roedd hyn yn dilyn y ddwy gôl a sgoriodd yn yr ail hanner yn erbyn Caernarfon ar ôl dod i’r cae fel eilydd. Helpodd y ddwy gôl sicrhau tri phwynt pwysig i Borthmadog gan godi’r clwb o waelod y gynghrair. Dyma’r ail dro i Paul gael ei enwi yn ‘Chwaraewr yr Wythnos’ gan iddo hefyd gael ei enwebi ar ôl sgorio dwy gôl arall i helpu Port sicrhau eu buddugoliaeth gyntaf o’r tymor yn erbyn Y Trallwng. Paul ydy prif sgoriwr Port gyda 12 gôl hyd yma – 8 mewn gêmau cynghrair, 3 Cwpan y cynghrair, 1 Cwpan Cenedlaethol.

Paul Roberts was named the welsh-premier website’s ‘Man of the Week’ for last week. This was on the back of the two second half goals he scored against Caernarfon after coming on as a substitute. These goals helped Porthmadog to gain a valuable three points from the game which lifted them off the bottom of the table. This is the second time Paul has been named ‘Man of the Week’ as he was previously named following another brace of goals which helped Port gain their first win of the season at Welshpool. Paul is Porthmadog’s leading scorer this season with 12 goals to date -8 league goals, 3 League Cup, 1 Premier Cup.

Rhagolwg: Llangefni v Porthmadog / Preview: Llangefni v Porthmadog

LlangefniGêm rhwng dau dîm sydd ag angen mawr am bwyntiau er mwyn ceisio sicrhau eu lle yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru fydd hi ar ddydd Gwyl San Steffan. Os ydy un gêm rhwng dau dîm yn y gwaelodion yn un am chwe pwynt, felly bydd 12 pwynt yn y fantol dros y gwyliau. Mae’n ddiddorol nodi fod Port wedi ennill pedair gêm eleni wrth deithio i ffwrdd yr un faint â enillwyd drwy’r tymor 2006-07. Hefyd maent wedi sgorio 15 gôl mewn gêmau i ffwrdd –dim ond Llanelli, TNS, Y Trallwng a’r Rhyl sydd wedi sgorio mwy ar eu teithiau. Gobeithio yn wir y gwnaiff hyn barhau wrth i Port deithio i Langefni ddydd Mercher. Ond rhaid cofio fod Llangefni wedi creu dipyn o enw am chwarae creadigol, ymosodol ac, fel y gwelwyd ddydd Sadwrn, â’r gallu i greu sioc yn erbyn timau o safon. Mae Caerfyrddin yn dîm cryf ac wedi perfformio’n dda eleni a felly mae dod mor agos i’w curo ar barc Waundew yn dipyn o gamp. Bydd yna awyrgylch gêm gwpan ddydd Mercher gyda’r ddau dîm yn barod i roi popeth i sicrhau’r pwyntiau.

Boxing Day sees the showdown between two clubs desperate for points to safeguard their WPL status. If one vital game can be classed as a six pointer then, over the holiday period, we have 12 pointers coming up. It is interesting to note Port’s away form with four wins on the road which equals our record throughout last season. On their travels, Port have also scored 15 goals which means that only Llanelli, TNS, Welshpool and Rhyl have scored more! Let’s hope this good away form continues on Wednesday. But Llangefni are a team who have earned themselves a reputation for good attacking football and, as they showed last Saturday, they are capable of pulling off surprises even against good quality opposition . Carmarthen are a more than useful side so coming so near to a victory at Richmond Park was quite an achievement. It will be a cup tie atmosphere on Wednesday with everything to play for.

Gêm Caernarfon ymlaen / Caernarfon game on

Yn dilyn archwiliad o'r cae bore 'ma, mae wedi ei gadarnhau y bydd y gêm heddiw yng Nghaernarfon yn gallu cael ei chwarae am 2:30pm. Roedd pryder y byddai'r rhew diweddar yn golygu gohirio'r gêm ond penderfynodd y dyfarnwr a archwiliodd y maes fod y tir yn addas i'r gêm gael ei chwarae. Bydd Viv Williams siwr o fod yn falch o glywed y newyddion gan mai hon yw'r gyntaf mewn cyfres o gemau hollbwysig i gael eu chwarae dros gyfnod y Nadolig.

Following a pitch inspection this morning, it has been confirmed that today's game at Caernarfon will take place at 2:30pm. It was feared that the recent frost might have made the pitch un-playable but the referee who inspected the ground today decided that there was nothing to stop the game from taking place. The news will surely please Viv Williams as this is the first in a series of all-important games to be played over the Christmas period.

Rhew yn bygwth gêm Caernarfon / Frost threatens Caernarfon game

Bydd archwiliad o gae Yr Ofal yn cael ei gynnal am 9:00 bore fory (dydd Sadwrn) er mwyn gweld os fydd posib chwarae'r gêm ddarbi rhwng y Cofis a Port. Mae'r tymheredd rhewllyd dros y bythefnos ddiwethaf wedi gadael y cae yn galed fel haearn. Bydd canlyniad yr archwiliad yn cael ei gyhoeddi yma pan ddaw'r wybodaeth yn ôl o'r Ofal.

An inspection of the Oval pitch will be conducted at 9:00 tomorrow morning (Saturday) to decide whether it will be playable for the derby match between the Cofis and Port. The big freeze over the past fortnight has left the pitch as hard as concrete. The outcome of the inspection will appear on this site as soon as we get the news from the Oval.

Rhagolwg: Caernarfon v Porthmadog / Preview: Caernarfon v Porthmadog

CaernarfonGyda’r angen am bwyntiau yn fawr, bydd Port yn ymweld â’r Oval ddydd Sadwrn. Dewis rhyfedd ydy y Sadwrn cyn y Nadolig am gêm sydd fel arfer yn denu torf dda. Daeth dros 400 i’r gêm gyfatebol ar Y Traeth a chwaraewyd ym mis Awst ar Lun y Banc. Pam felly dewis un o’r diwrnodau salaf, fel arfer, am gefnogaeth? Gan Mr Deakin mae’r ateb yn siwr. Colli tair o’u pum gêm ddiwethaf gwnaeth Caernarfon gan gynnwys un golled drom adref yn erbyn TNS. Un gêm a enillwyd a honno’n fuddugoliaeth dda o 4-2 oedd yr un yn erbyn Y Trallwng ar Maesydre. Yr hyn sy’n rhyfedd am record Caernarfon eleni yw mai ond pump o’u deunaw pwynt a enillwyd ar Yr Oval. Tra eu bod wedi ennill pump o’u gêmau i ffwrdd. Eu prif sgoriwr hyd yma ydy John Rowley ond nid yw Paul Addo wedi llwyddo i ganfod y rhwyd mor aml eleni fel y gwnaeth tuag at ddiwedd y tymor diwethaf. Ar y llaw arall, dal i chwilio am rywbeth ychwanegol i droi perfformiadau da yn bwyntiau mae Port. Unwaith eto ddydd Sadwrn, cafwyd perfformiad da ond ni lwyddwyd i droi pwysau yn goliau. Mae’r ddau dîm yma wedi cyfarfod pedair gwaith eleni gyda buddugoliaeth yr un ac un gêm yn gyfartal.

With points badly needed, Porthmadog take on local rivals Caernarfon on Saturday. The Saturday before Christmas is a notoriously bad date for bringing supporters out so is a very strange choice for this derby game which is usually well supported. The league game, played at the Traeth on August Bank Holiday Monday, drew a crowd in excess of 400 -so over to you Mr. Deakin. Caernarfon have lost three of their last five league games including a heavy home defeat at the hands of champions TNS. Their only win was a creditable one gaining a 4-2 win over Welshpool at Maesydre. The surprising thing about this season’s Cofi performances is that they have only picked up five of their 18 points on the Oval with only one victory. On the other hand, they have picked up five wins on their travels. Leading scorer this season is John Rowley while Paul Addo is still searching for the goal touch he had on first joining the Oval club. Port on the other hand are still looking for that extra something which turns good performances into points. Last Saturday again Port looked the better side but they failed to turn all the possession and territorial advantage into goals. The two sides have met three times this season with honours even –a win for each side and the other ending in a draw.

Diweddaraf am Ryan / Latest on Ryan

Ryan DaviesMae newyddion gwell am Ryan Davies, capten y clwb, a ddioddefodd anaf drwg i’w ffêr yn y gêm ar ddydd Llun y Banc yn erbyn Caernarfon ar Y Traeth yn ôl ym mis Awst. Erbyn hyn, deallwn fod Ryan wedi ail gychwyn ymarfer ysgafn ond, er hynny, nid oes disgwyl iddo fod yn barod i chwarae eto yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru tan Chwefror. Dymunwn yn dda iddo gan edrych ymlaen i’w weld yn ail gydio yn ei bartneriaeth llwyddiannus gyda’r capten presennol, Rhys Roberts yng nghanol yr amddiffyn.

The news is improving concerning club captain Ryan Davies. Ryan suffered a bad ankle injury in the game on August Bank Holiday Monday against Caernarfon Town at the Traeth. It is good to hear that he has now commenced light training but he is not, however expected to be fit enough to return to WPL action until February. We wish him well and look forward to see him resume his central defensive partnership with current skipper Rhys Roberts.

Record i’r Ail Dîm / Record Score for Reserves

Yn yr unig gêm yng Nghynghrair Gwynedd a chwaraewyd ddydd Sadwrn, torrodd yr Ail Dîm record sgorio’r clwb a hefyd y gynghrair pan gurwyd Cemaes ar Y Traeth o 15-0. Daeth wyth o’r goliau yn ystod yr hanner cyntaf. Y prif sgoriwr oedd Mathew Hughes yn sgorio chwech. Golyga hyn mai Mathew sydd ar ben rhestr sgorio’r gynghrair gyda 16 o goliau, ar y blaen i Meirion Pritchard (Llanystumdwy) a Craig Papirnyk (Bermo) y ddau wedi sgorio 13 o goliau. Mae’r fuddugoliaeth hon yn codi’r clwb i’r pedwerydd safle yn y tabl gyda 25 o bwyntiau. Hon oedd y bumed buddugoliaeth yn olynol yn y gynghrair.

In the only game played in the Gwynedd League on Saturday, the Reserves broke the club and also league scoring record when they defeated basement club Cemaes at the Traeth by 15-0. Eight goals came in the opening half. The main marksman was Mathew Hughes who scored a double hat trick. This now takes Matthew up to 16 league goals for the season making him the league’s leading scorer, ahead of Llanystumdwy’s Meirion Pritchard and Craig Papirnyk of Barmouth both on 13 league goals. This victory lifts Port to 4th spot in the table with 25 points. This was their fifth straight league win.

Hulse yn rhoi anogaeth i Port / Hulse gives Port encouragement

John Hulse (welsh-premier.com)Cafodd clwb Porthmadog dipyn o anogaeth o eiriau rheolwr sydd wedi ennill parch mawr iddo’i hun, sef John Hulse rheolwr profiadol Y Rhyl. Cyn y gêm, oedd i fod i gael ei chwarae rhwng y ddau glwb ddydd Sadwrn, dywedodd Hulse:
“Mae Porthmadog yn dîm llawer iawn gwell nag sydd yn cael ei awgrymu gan eu safle yn y tabl. Y peth olaf y dylem wneud yw credu mai dim ond dod ar y cae sydd angen i sicrhau buddugoliaeth.
“Dwi ddim yn credu y byddant yn aros ar y gwaelod yn hir gan eu bod yn dîm sydd yn cwffio dros ei gilydd a gyda’r gallu i orffen mewn safle llawer uwch yn y tabl. A peidiwch anghofio eu bod wedi curo Llanelli 2-1 ond ychydig wythnosau’n ôl.”

John Hulse the experienced and highly regarded manager of Rhyl FC gave more than a little encouragement to Porthmadog with his words prior to the postponed match between the two clubs on Saturday.
“Porthmadog are a far, far better side than their position suggests and the last thing we must do is to assume we’ve just got to turn up to win.
“I don’t believe they will stay bottom long because they are a side that fights for each other and are capable of attaining a far higher position in the table. And don’t forget that it’s only a few weeks back that they won 2-1 at Llanelli”

Gohirio gêm Rhyl / Rhyl game called off

Glaw! / Rain!Oherwydd y tywydd garw a'r glaw trwm drwy gydol yr wythnos, mae gêm oddi-cartref Porthmadog yn Rhyl heddiw wedi ei gohirio. Bydd Viv yn siŵr o weld y Sadwrn rhydd fel cyfle i baratoi y garfan at y 7 gêm holl bwysig sydd i ddod yn ystod mis nesaf. Mae'r gemau yn erbyn Castell Nedd, Caernarfon, y Drenewydd, Hwllffordd, Airbus a Llangefni ddwywaith i gyd yn rhai y dylai'r Port ennill pwyntiau. Da ni'n siŵr y gwnaiff potel o win Osian gadw tan y caiff gêm Rhyl ei haildrefnu!
Cofiwch hefyd fod y noson gyda Cajuns Denbo hefyd wedi'i gohirio heno.

Due to the stormy weather and the heavy rain which has fallen throughout the week, Porthmadog's away game at Rhyl today has been cancelled. Viv will see the blank Saturday as an opportunity to prepare the squad for the all important 7 games over the next month. The games against Neath, Caernarfon, Newtown, Haverfordwest, Airbus and Llangefni twice are all ones where Port would hope to win points. We're sure that Osian's bottle of wine will keep until the Rhyl game is re-arranged!
Remember also that today's evening with Cajuns Denbo has also been cancelled.

Bickerstaff yn creu argraff / Bickerstaff makes immediate impression

Alan BickerstaffWrth groesawu’r cymorth mae Alan Bickerstaff, yr hyfforddwr newydd, wedi’i roi iddo dywedodd Viv, “Yn syth mae wedi creu argraff ar y chwaraewyr a da o beth ydy cael ail lais yn yr ystafell newid. Mae gan Alan gefndir ardderchog yn y gêm a daeth â syniadau da efo fo, syniadau a fydd yn ein helpu dros weddill y tymor.”
Ar ôl ysgwyddo’r cyfrifoldeb ar ei ben ei hun ers iddo ddychwelyd i’r clwb eglurodd, “Mae bod yn rheolwr heb gymorth yn y gynghrair hon yn waith caled ac mae cael hyfforddwr dibynadwy yn holl bwysig –i rannu’r baich a chymryd at rai o’r dyletswyddau. Pan mae chwaraewyr yn clywed yr un llais drwy’r adeg, ni fyddant bob amser yn canolbwyntio.”

Viv Williams in welcoming the support the new coach had given him said “He has made an immediate impression with the players and it is good to have a second voice in the changing room. Alan has an excellent pedigree and has brought some good ideas with him which will only benefit us over the rest of the season.”
Having worked alone after taking charge of the team for the second time he added, “These days, it is hard work to be a sole manager in this league and a dependable assistant is vital –to share the burden and take on some of the work. Players can switch off sometimes if they hear the same voice.”

Rhagolwg: Y Rhyl / Preview: Rhyl FC

Belle VueO’r saith gêm gynghrair a chwaraewyd ers i Viv ddychwelyd, mae pump wedi gorffen ar union yr un sgôr sef 2-1. Yn wir, mae’r pedair gêm ddiwethaf – ennill dwy a cholli dwy- i gyd wedi gorffen yn 2-1. Mae hyn yn dangos mor gystadleuol mae’r hogiau wedi bod a gydag ond y mymryn lleiaf o lwc, gallem fod yn uwch yn y tabl. Nid oes llawer o lefydd anoddach i ymweld â hwy na’r Belle Vue. Y tymor diwethaf, cyfarfu’r ddau glwb ar bump achlysur! Llwyddodd Y Rhyl i gyflawni’r dwbl yn y ddwy gêm gynghrair gyda’r sgôr wrth gwrs yn 2-1!! Allan o’r pump gêm, dim ond yn ail gymal rownd cyn derfynol Cwpan y Gynghrair y llwyddodd Y Rhyl i sicrhau buddugoliaeth bendant. Gorffennodd dwy o’r gêmau eraill yng Nghwpan y Gynghrair yn gyfartal ddi-sgôr. Gyda’r ’run ymroddiad â ddangoswyd yn ddiweddar ac yr un chwarae trefnus, bydd yn bosib unwaith eto rhoi gêm galed i’r Rhyl –a chofiwch Llanelli!

Of the seven league games played since Viv returned to the club, five have produced the same score line -2-1. The last four games –two wins and two defeats- have all ended with the score at 2-1. This just goes to show how competitive the lads have been and also shows that, with a small slice of luck, we could be higher up the table. There could be few more difficult games awaiting us than a visit to the Belle Vue. Last season the two clubs played each other five times! Rhyl managed the double in league fixtures and the score line –yes 2-1 on both occasions. In fact, the only time Rhyl conclusively defeated us was in the second leg of the League Cup semi-final. Twice we managed goalless draws in the other League Cup clashes between the clubs. More of the fighting spirit and good organisation shown recently could once again see us give Rhyl a stern challenge -remember Llanelli!

Cajuns DenboThis Saturday (December 8th) the Cajuns Denbo will be appearing at the Porthmadog FC Clubhouse. Cajuns Denbo are a six piece band based in Bangor. The line-up comprises fiddle, accordion and guitar, backed by bass, and drums/triangle. They have established a huge name for themselves with their Cajun and Zydeco dance rhythms more usually associated with South West Louisiana. What makes them unique, however, is that Cajuns Denbo perform the majority of their material in their native Welsh language rather than Cajun French. Past gigs include Lorient Inter Celtic Festival, Sesiwn Fawr, Dun Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures, Pontardawe Festival, Gloucester Cajun Festival, Raamsdonksveer Cajun & Zydeco festival in the Netherlands, as well as numerous appearances on S4C T.V. Agoriad swyddogol yn llwyddiant / Official Opening a success

Hanner dydd, ddydd Sadwrn (1 Rhagfyr) agorwyd clwb cymdeithasol CPD Porthmadog yn swyddogol gan Dafydd Wigley, cyn AS ac AC Arfon. Wedi tynnu peint wrth y bar, aeth ymlaen i ddadorchuddio plac arbennig i gofnodi’r achlysur. Aeth Mr Wigley ymlaen i longyfarch y clwb am eu menter yn sefydlu’r clwb cymdeithasol i fod yn gyfleuster mawr i’r clwb pêl droed ac i’r gymuned ehangach. “Mae ganddo’r potensial, meddai, i fod yn ffynhonnell ariannol i’r clwb pêl droed i’r dyfodol gan hefyd fod yn lleoliad delfrydol i amrywiaeth o gyfarfodydd a digwyddiadau.”
Yn cynorthwyo Mr. Wigley, roedd Miss Porthmadog sef Nia Lloyd Jones ac ymysg eraill a ychwanegodd eu cyfarchion a’u dymuniadau da oedd AC Arfon, Alun Ffred Jones a chadeirydd presennol Cyngor Tref Porthmadog, Jean Edwards. Mae’r Cyngor Tref wedi bod yn hael eu cefnogaeth i’r clwb dros y blynyddoedd. Cadwyd yr holl gyfarfod yn ysgafn ei naws gan y digrifwr Dilwyn Morgan a gyflwynodd y siaradwyr. Ychwanegodd hefyd ei ddymuniad i weld y clwb newydd yn rhan rheolaidd o’r gylchdaith adloniant Cymraeg yn yr ardal. Dafydd Wigley + Grallt Owen   Alun Ffred Jones   Phil Jones, Miss Porthmadog + Dafydd Wigley

At midday on Saturday, December 1st the Porthmadog FC clubhouse was officially opened by Dafydd Wigley the former MP and AM for Arfon. After pulling a pint at the bar, he unveiled a plaque to commemorate the occasion and went on to congratulate the club for their enterprise in establishing such a valuable facility for both club and the wider community. “It has the potential,” he said, “to provide the club with an important income stream in the future and the community with an ideal venue for a variety of meetings and functions.”
Assisting Mr Wigley in the ceremony was Nia Lloyd Jones - this year's Miss Porthmadog. Others who added their congratulations and best wishes were Arfon AM Alun Ffred Jones and the current Chair of the Porthmadog Town Council, Jean Edwards. Dim Lwc / When your luck’s out

Danny HughesRoedd digwyddiad cyn i’r gêm yn erbyn Caerfyrddin gychwyn ddydd Sadwrn yn adlewyrchu y math o lwc mae Port wedi ei gael y tymor hwn. Tra yn cynhesu ar gyfer y gêm, bu Danny Hughes yn ddigon anffodus i droi ar ei ffêr a chafodd ei gynorthwyo o’r cae. Golygodd hyn fod rhaid i Port ddefnyddio un o’r chwaraewyr wrth gefn cyn i’r gêm gychwyn. John Gwynfor gymrodd le Danny.

An incident prior to the start of the game against Carmarthen town just about sums up the way things have gone this season. Whilst warming up before hand, Danny Hughes turned his ankle and had to be helped off. This meant that Port had to use a sub before the game had even started. John Gwynfor started the game in place of Danny.

Ac er y bydd rhai o’r cefnogwyr hyn yn amau hynny, bu gemau cofiadwy yng nghyfnod mwy diweddar hefyd. Yn wir, roedd yna berfformiad arbennig yn Llanelli bythefnos yn ôl! Rhagolwg: Caerfyrddin / Review: Carmarthen Town

Caerfyrddin / CarmarthenByddai cael buddugoliaeth yn erbyn Caerfyrddin ddydd Sadwrn, y gyntaf o’r tymor ar y Traeth mewn gêm gynghrair, yn ffordd dda iawn o ddathlu agoriad swyddogol y ‘clubhouse’. Ar ôl curo Llanelli mewn gêm ddramatig ar Stebonheath, roedd yn dda iawn cael buddugoliaeth arall ar y ffordd mewn gêm fara menyn ar Lannau Dyfrdwy. Rhaid dal ati i adeiladu ar y buddugoliaethau yma o hyn ymlaen ond ni fydd yn hawdd yn erbyn Caerfyrddin sydd yn y 5ed safle yn y tabl. Mae ein record ar Y Traeth yn erbyn Caerfyrddin yn un hynod o dda. Ers dychwelyd i UGC yn 2003, Port sydd wedi ennill y bedair gêm gynghrair ar Y Traeth rhwng y ddau glwb ac wedi sgorio 12 o goliau gyda Chaerfyrddin ond yn rhwydo ddwy waith. Ond nid ar record y gorffennol mae canlyniadau yn cael eu penderfynu ac mae’n bwysig sylwi fod pump o saith buddugoliaeth Caerfyrddin wedi dod mewn gemau i ffwrdd. Er fod y rheolwr wedi newid, gyda Deryn Brace bellach yn rheoli’r clwb, mae cnewyllyn y tîm yn dangos mai ychydig o newid a fu yn y garfan gyda chwaraewyr fel Danny Thomas, Sacha Walters, Nathan Cotterall a’r golwr profiadol Neil Thomas yn dal yn amlwg. Dau ychwanegiad ydy’r chwaraewyr ifanc o glwb Caerdydd sef Greg Coombes a Jamal Easter.

With the official opening of the clubhouse taking place on Saturday it would be an ideal time to celebrate and gain a first league win of the season at the Traeth. Having beaten Llanelli in a dramatic encounter on Stebonheath, it was good to win again on Deeside in a bread and butter game. We must now build on these victories but it will not be easy against 5th placed Carmarthen Town. Our record on the Traeth against Carmarthen, since returning to the WPL in 2003, has been excellent winning all four matches and scoring 12 times while Carmarthen have only found the net twice. However matches are not decided on past records and it is worth noting that five of Carmarthen’s seven league wins this season have been gained on the road. Though they have changed their manager, with Deryn Brace taking over, the squad remains largely the same with players like Danny Thomas, Sacha Walters, Nathan Cotterall, and the experienced keeper Neil Thomas. Two former Cardiff City youngsters Greg Coombes and Jamal Easter have been added to the squad.

Gwefan newydd / New Website

Y Clwb / The ClubhouseI gyd fynd ag agoriad swyddogol clubhouse newydd gwych CPD Porthmadog ddydd Sadwrn nesa, mae gwefan newydd ar-lein. Pwrpas y wefan yw sicrhau fod pobl ymhobman yn ymwybodol o’r hyn sydd ar gael gan fod hwn nid yn unig yn gyfleuster i’r clwb pêl droed ond hefyd i’r gymuned ehangach ac i unrhyw unigolion neu grwpiau sydd am ddefnyddio ystafell gyda’r gwasanaethau diweddaraf ar gyfer eu partïon, nosweithiau adloniant neu gyrsiau hyfforddiant. Crëwyd y wefan gan Martin Rookyard, cefnogwr ffyddlon o’r clwb sy’n dod o Fanceinion. Mae Martin, Maria a Simon yn aml i’w gweld ar Y Traeth ar ddiwrnod gêm ac yn helpu allan yn y cantîn. Mae’r wefan newydd yn gynhyrchiad proffesiynol iawn gyda nifer fawr o luniau da fydd yn dangos beth sydd ar gael yn y clwb a hefyd yn rhoi’r holl fanylion a’r wybodaeth ynglyn â sut i logi’r ystafell. Nid am y tro cyntaf, mae’r clwb yn ddyledus i deulu’r Rookyards am eu cefnogaeth arbennig. Cyfeiriad y wefan yw www.traeth-clubhouse.co.uk

To coincide with the official opening of Porthmadog FC’s splendid new clubhouse on Saturday a new website has been created. The purpose of the site is to ensure that people everywhere are aware of this excellent new facility which will not only provide the football club with a valuable asset but will also be available to the wider community and indeed to any individual or group who wish to take advantage on a function room with all the up to date services which you would require for an event. The site has been set up by dedicated Porthmadog FC supporter Martin Rookyard from Manchester. Martin, Maria and Simon are familiar figures at the Traeth and can often be found helping out in the canteen on match days. The new site is a very professional production with a selection of excellent photographs which will familiarise people with the facility and provide them with all the necessary details and information to make a booking. Not for the first time the club are indebted to the Rookyard family for their wonderful support. The site's address is www.traeth-clubhouse.co.uk

Osian Roberts i hyfforddi’r Rhyl / Osian Roberts to coach Rhyl

Osian RobertsMae cyn rheolwr Porthmadog Osian Roberts, a adawodd Y Traeth yn ystod yr haf, wedi synnu llawer wrth ail gysylltu ei hun â chlwb yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Mae wedi cytuno i gynorthwyo’r Rhyl fel ymgynghorydd hyfforddi. Mae’n debyg y bydd yn cynorthwyo John Hulse a Paul Rowlands pan fydd dyletswyddau ei swydd gyda’r Ymddiriedolaeth Bêl droed yn caniatáu.

Osian Roberts, the former Porthmadog manager, who left the Traeth in the summer has made a surprise reappearance on the Welsh Premier scene. He has taken up a position as coaching advisor to Rhyl FC. It appears he will assist John Hulse and Paul Rowlands as and when his current duties with the Football Trust allow.

Mis Tachwedd yr Ail Dîm / Reserves November round-up

Dwy gêm gynghrair a dwy gêm gwpan a wynebodd yr Ail Dîm yn ystod y mis. Cafwyd dwy fuddugoliaeth mewn gêmau cynghrair, y gyntaf i ffwrdd yn Llanfairfechan o 5-3 gyda Mathew Hughes yn sgorio hat tric a Carl Jones a Ceri Roberts yn ychwanegu’r lleill. Cafwyd naw gôl yn y gêm gynghrair arall adref yn erbyn Llangefni gyda Port yn sicrhau’r fuddugoliaeth o 5-4. Ymysg y sgorwyr oedd Danny Rylands a Matthew Hughes y ddau yn cael dwy gôl yr un. Curo oedd hanes Port yng Nghwpan John Smith o 5-1 dros Llanystumdwy, gyda Ceri Roberts y tro yma yn cael hat tric. Yr unig gêm i Port golli yn ystod y mis oedd yng Nghwpan Barritt yn erbyn Llanrwst. Bu gôl Aaron Jones yn ddigon i roi’r fuddugoliaeth i’r clwb o’r Welsh Alliance.

During the month the reserves played two league and two cup games. There were two league victories with the first coming at Llanfairfechan by 5-3 with Matthew Hughes scoring a hat trick and the others goals coming from Carl Jones and Ceri Roberts. There were nine goals in the other league game with Port gaining the victory by 5-4 with Danny Rylands and Matthew Hughes scoring two goals apiece. There was another win in the John Smith Cup with Llanystumdwy being beaten by 5-1. Ceri Roberts scored a hat trick for Port. The only defeat of the month came in the Barritt Cup at Llanrwst. A goal by Aaron Jones proved enough for the Welsh Alliance club to gain a narrow win.

Cynghrair efo Dwy Adran? / Two division Welsh Premier?

Uwch Gynghrair Cymru / Welsh Premier LeagueEr fod ei syniadau blaenorol am newid Uwch Gynghrair Cymru wedi’u gwrthod gan y clybiau, mae’r ysgrifennydd, John Deakin rwan yn rhoi cynigion newydd ymlaen am newid y drefn. Mae am i’r clybiau ystyried newid i gynghrair o ddwy adran. Yn flaenorol, mae’r clybiau wedi gwrthod y syniad o chwarae yn yr haf a hefyd y cynnig i ostwng y nifer o glybiau.
Dywed Mr Deakin fod Cynghrair Iwerddon wedi rhannu’n ddwy gyda 10 tîm yn yr Uwch Gynghrair a 12 o dimau yn yr Adran gyntaf ac o’r herwydd wedi gweld cynnydd o 20% yn eu torfeydd yn ystod y tymor diwethaf. “Mae eu prif gynghrair wedi gostwng o 12 clwb i 10 clwb er mwyn iddynt dargedu rhan sylweddol o’u hadnoddau at y clybiau gorau,” meddai Deakin.
Er ond yn syniad ar y funud, mae Mr Deakin yn ystyried gwneud cynnig er mwyn i byramid Cymru ddilyn yr un model.
“Dwi wir yn meddwl fod hwn yn rhywbeth i ni ystyried i gael dwy adran a hefyd cael ‘play-offs’ ar ddiwedd y tymor i benderfynu pwy sydd yn ennill dyrchafiad. Fy syniadau i ydynt ar y funud ond rhaid gosod pob opsiwn ar y bwrdd er mwyn gwella’r gynghrair."

John DeakinHaving had his previous ideas for changing the Welsh Premier League rejected by the clubs, Secretary John Deakin is now putting forward a new set of proposals for consideration. He hopes that the clubs will look more favourably on proposals for a two division league than they did on his suggestions for summer football or for reducing the number of clubs in the league.
Mr Deakin is said to have been impressed by the success of the WPL’s Irish counterpart which is split into a 10-team Premier Division and 12-team First Division and has enjoyed a 20% increase in attendances over the past season. He said: “Their Premier Division has been reduced to 10 teams from 12 in an effort to target the bulk of their resources at the top teams.”
Though just an idea at the moment, Mr. Deakin is considering a proposal whereby the Welsh pyramid would follow the same model.
“I honestly think that’s something worth considering for us – to have two divisions and have play-offs at the end of the season to decide promotion. It’s just my own thinking at the moment, but you’ve got to put all possible options on the table to improve the league.”
