Hogiau Ifanc yn creu argraff / Young boys impress

Datgelodd Osian Roberts fod dau o chwaraewyr ifanc y clwb wediu cynnwys yng ngharfan Cymdeithas Arfordir y Gogledd i chwarae yn erbyn tm y Gogledd Ddwyrain nos Iau yn Airbus. Er mae ond dau sydd wediu dewis y tro yma mae Roberts yn obeithiol am weld dau neu dri arall yn derbyn y cyfle a chreu argraff dros y misoedd nesaf. Y tro yma dewiswyd Mark Cook y blaenwyr ifanc sydd yn cael ei adnabod yn lleol fel Scows maen raddol yn gwthioi hyn ir tm cyntaf ar l creu argraff wrth chwarae ir ail dm.
Dywedodd Roberts fod Cook wedi ymateb yn dda oi gyflwyno ir Uwch Gynghrair ac mae yn sicr yn un at y dyfodol. Roedd ei berfformiadau ar Y Traeth yn erbyn Rhyl a ffwrdd yn TNS yn dangos fod ganddor talent i ddatblygun bellach. Mae Scows yn gryf yn yr awyr, yn ymdrechun galed ac yn ddewr. Mae ei dechneg yn gwellan gyflym gan ddysgu wrth flaenwyr eraill yn y clwb Jason (Sadler), Carl (Owen) a Les (Davies) Mae Roberts wedii blesion fawr gydag agwedd Cook ai awydd i lwyddo. Mae ganddor awydd i wella ac mae hynnyn bwysig. Mae ei gyflymder yn gwella wrth iddo weithio ar ei ffitrwydd ond rhaid iddo ddal ati.
Y dewis arall ydy Iestyn Woollway. Mae Woolway yn gyflym, sgilgar ac croesir bl yn dda ac hefyd yn sgorio goliau. Gweithiodd Roberts gydar chwaraewr llynedd yn y Coleg ac maen edmygu ei dalent.
Bu Iestyn yn anlwcus hyd yma i beidio cael fwy o gyfleoedd ond maen rhaid dod ac o i fewn ar yr amser iawn. Maen ymarfer gydar tm cyntaf bob wythnos ac maen datblygun dda. Fe ddaw ei gyfle a pan y daw rwyn siwr y bydd yn ei gymryd.

Osian Roberts revealed that two of Ports young standouts have been selected to play for the North Wales Coast FA against their North East counterparts on Thursday night at Airbus UK. Although only two have been selected this time, Roberts is hopeful that 2 or 3 others will get a chance to impress over the next few months. Selected this time around is young striker Mark Cooke known locally as Scouse who has steadily been breaking into the first team after impressing with the Reserves.
Roberts said that Cooke had responded well to his baptism in the Welsh Premier thus far, and has high hopes for him. His performances, especially at home against Rhyl, and away versus TNS demonstrate he can progress further. Scouse is strong in the air, very willing and brave, and his technique is improving rapidly. He is learning quickly off our other three strikers Json (Sadler), Carl ( Owen) and Les ( Davies).
Roberts is more than pleased with Cookes attitude and eagerness to do well. Hes got this inner drive to improve, and thats important. His times are coming down on the fitness work as well, but he still needs to work hard.
The other selection is young striker / midfielder Iestyn Woollway. Woollway is quick, skilful, is a very good crosser of the ball and can score goals. Roberts worked with the youngster last year at his College and is a big admirer of his talents.
Iestyn has been a bit unlucky not to get more opportunities so far this season, but its been difficult bringing him in at the right times. He trains with the first team every week and is coming along nicely. I think his chance will come though, and when it does Ill be very surprised if he doesnt take it.

Wythnos grt i Port! / Great week for Port

TNS 2 - 1 Porthmadog (www.welsh-premier.com)Roedd y cyd Rheolwr Osian Roberts yn hael ei ganmoliaeth ir garfan yn dilyn eu buddugoliaeth anhygoel yn erbyn y Seintiau Newydd. Pwysleisiodd mai llwyddiant CARFAN oedd hwn gan ei fod o a Viv Williams wedi gwneud pump o newidiadau ir tm a ymddangosodd yn y fuddugoliaeth dda dros Dinas Bangor ar Y Traeth ddydd Sadwrn.
Eglurodd Roberts fod gan y cyd rheolwyr ddilema dros y dyddiau nesaf i ddewis y garfan ar tm i gychwyn ar gyfer y gm ar Y Traeth ddydd Sadwrn cur pen iw groesawu!
Roedd Roberts wedii blesio r canlyniad yn TNS gan ddweud ei fod yn sicr yn galondid ar l colli adref yn y gynghrair yn ddiweddar.
Er hynny dydy o ddim yn gwneud yn iawn am y golled yn y gynghrair, gm y teimlais ein bod yn anlwcus iawn i orffen dim i ddangos am ein hymdrechion. Ond y tro yma gwnaethom baratoi ychydig yn wahanol o ran tactegau ac ar l i Viv a minnau benderfynu ar gynllun ymatebodd yr hogiaun wych
Pan ofynnwyd iddo wneud sylw ar y ffaith fod TNS wedi cael gymaint or bl yn ystod y gm dywedodd Mae rhai timau yn cadwr bl tra fo eraill yn sicrhaur canlyniad. Mae yna gelfyddyd i amddiffyn a gwnaeth y chwaraewyr yn wych heno. Mae o hefyd i wneud efor hyn syn digwydd pan for bl gynnoch chi rhaid ichi frifor gwrthwynebwyr.
Er hyn, roedd Roberts yn awyddus i bwysleisio mai gm dydd Sadwrn yw'r un bwysig gan fod pwyntiau cynghrair yn y fantol. O edrych ymlaen at ddydd Sadrwn roedd Roberts yn teimlo y byddai Bangor yn siwr o geisio talu'r pwyth yn l a dangos sut fath o dm ydynt go iawn.
"Rwy'n disgwyl gm llawer anoddach dydd Sadwrn. Mae gan Bangor chwaraewyr o safon yn eu tm, a dydyn nhw ddim yn troi'n chwaraewyr sal dros nos. Rwyn disgwyl iddynt ymateb. Ond hon ydy'r gm sy'n cyfri i ni - 'da ni angen y pwyntiau."

Following the astounding 2-1 win at The New Saints, joint Manager Osian Roberts was full of praise for the Porthmadog squad of players. He emphasised SQUAD since he and Viv Williams made no less than 5 changes to the starting line-up from Saturdays fine home win against Gwynedd rivals Bangor City.
Roberts explained that the joint Managers have the dilemma over the next few days of selecting the squad and starting line-up for the home match on Saturday a welcome dilemma at that!
Commenting on the TNS victory, Roberts was pleased with the outcome, which makes up somewhat for the home League defeat Port suffered recently.
It doesnt make up for the League defeat, however I felt we were extremely unlucky not to get anything out of that match. This time we approached it slightly differently tactically, Viv and I decided on a game plan, and the players were fantastic.
When drawn on the fact TNS had the majority of the ball Roberts responded that some teams keep the ball, other teams keep up the result. Defending is an art, and our players did it impeccably tonight. Its also to do with what you do with the ball when youve got it youve got to hurt the opposition.
However, Roberts was keen to stress that this Saturdays match is the most important, because its League points at stake. He also felt that Bangor will be like a wounded animal on Saturday, looking to strike back, retain their pride, and show what theyre truly made of.
I expect a far tougher game this saturday. Bangor have got quality players in their side, and they dont become bad players overnight. I expect a reaction from them. But this is the one that matters to us as well, we need the points.

Many have asked how the draw will be made for the semi-final of the League Cup. This is what the rules tell us:-
Rule 13
The draw for the semi-finals will be open. The ties will be decided over 2 legs on a home and away basis, the first match to be played on the ground of the Club to be drawn first. In the event of the scores being level at the end of the second leg then away goals will count double. Extra time and penalties could decide the outcome if the scores remain tied. Semi finals scheduled originally for:
First leg: Tue/Wed 21/22 November 2006
Second leg: Tue/Wed 5/6 December 2006
Note that the Premier Cup tie against Llanelli is on November 21st, therefore it is likely that the Loosemore Cup tie will have to be re-arranged.

Datganiad ynglŷn gm Bangor / Statement on the Bangor game

BangorBydd gm trydedd rownd Cwpan Cymru Porthmadog a Dinas Bangor yn cychwyn am 12.30pm dydd Sadwrn yn hytrach nar amser arferol, sef 2.30pm.
Wrth gyhoeddir newyddion dywedodd Cadeirydd Port Phil Jones iddynt gymeryd y penderfyniad am ddau reswm. "Mae gm arall ddiddorol yn cael ei chwarae yn Ne Gwynedd dydd Sadwrn, sef Pwllheli o Gynghrair y Welsh Alliance yn erbyn pencampwyr presennol Uwch Gynghrair Prinicipality Cymru y Seintiau Newydd. O bosibl dyma gm bwysicaf Pwllheli ers degawdau a gan bod gan Porthmadog nifer o gefnogwyr ar Benrhyn Llyn yn ogystal ac Eifionydd gwnaethom ymdrech i beidio a mynd ar draws y gm honno sydd yn cychwyn yn hwyrach ymlaen yn y prynhawn.
Mae gm rygbi rhyngwladol Cymru yn erbyn Awstralia hefyd yn fyw ar y teledu yn ystod y prynhawn, ac felly penderfynwyd dod a gm Port a Bangor ymlaen i 12,30pm.
Dros y blynyddoedd chwaraewyd 15 o gemau rhwng Porthmadog a Bangor yng Nghwpan Cymru ond nid yw Port wedi ennill yr un ohonynt eto.

Porthmadog FCs high profile 3rd. round Welsh Cup tie against Gwynedd rivals Bangor City to be played at the Traeth this Saturday will be a 12.30pm kick off. Announcing this decision Port Chairman Phil Jones said there were two main reasons for the re-scheduled kick off, one being the fact that South Gwynedd will host another mouth watering tie on Saturday, Welsh Alliance side Pwllheli against current Principality Welsh Premier League Champions the New Saints. This is probably Pwllhelis biggest match in several decades and as Porthmadog do have a strong following along the Llyn Peninsula as well as Eifionydd we have made an effort not to clash with their tie which kicks off later on in the afternoon.
The Wales versus Australia rugby international is also live on television during the afternoon and, therefore, we have brought our kick off against Bangor back to 12,30pm.
Porthmadog have played Bangor 15 times in the Welsh Cup over the years but have never won a tie.

Gm Bangor i ddechrau am 12.30 / Bangor match to start at 12.30

BangorMae CPD Porthmadog wedi cadarnhau y bydd eu gm yn erbyn Bangor yng Nghwpan Cymru ar 4 Tachwedd yn dechrau am 12.30. Ar l cael trafodaethau efo Heddlu lleol a Chymdeithas Bl-droed Cymru mynegwyd pryderon ynglyn r posibilrwydd y byddai trafferthion oddi ar y cae yn effeithio ar y gm. Roedd Bangor yn gyndyn ir gm ddechrau yn ystod amser cinio gan ddweud y byddai hyn yn achosi problemau teithio i rai oi chwaraewyr syn byw yn ardal Manceinion, ond maent bellach wedi cytuno i ddechraur gm am 12.30.

Porthmadog FC have confirmed that the the kick-off time for their Welsh Cup tie against Bangor City on Saturday November 4th has been brought forward to 12.30. Having had discussions with the local police and the FAW concerns were expressed that the match might be affected by crowd trouble. As a result the game was brought forward to a lunch time kick-off which will reduce the time spectators will have to drink prior to the game. Bangor were reluctant to change the kick off time citing traveling problems from the Manchester area for some of their players, but they have now agreed to the 12.30 kick-off time.

McKenna'n disgwyl sialens / McKenna expects a challenge

Ken McKennaMae TNS, sydd ar hyn o bryd yn geffylau blaen y gynghrair, yn disgwyl gm anodd yn erbyn Port dydd Sadwrn. Sicrhaodd gl agoriadol Carl Owen ac ymdrech wych Les Davies gm gyfartal haeddiannol yn erbyn y tm proffesiynol ar y Traeth y tymor diwethaf. Dywedodd rheolwr TNS Ken McKenna, syn disgwyl sialens anodd arall Mae Porthmadog bod amser yn le anodd i ymweld , ac rydym wedi gorfod gweithion galed i gael unrhyw beth yno, ond dwi wedi bod yn hapus iawn efo sut mae pethaun mynd ar hyn o bryd a dwin siŵr y gwnaiff ein ymosodwyr sgorio yn helaeth y tymor yma.

Top of the table TNS are expecting a tough challenge from Port in Saturdays game. In last years match on the Traeth goals from Carl Owen and a fantastic Les Davies effort was enough to give Port a deserved draw against the full-time pros. Ken McKenna, who is expecting more of the same this year, said "Porthmadog is always a tough place to go for us, we've had to work hard for whatever we get there, but I've been pleased with the way things are going, there's a lot of goals in our forwards this season."

Bydd y chwaraewyr ifanc yn cael cyfle / Youngsters to get their chance

Osian RobertsMaer cydreolwr Osian Roberts wedi trefnu gm gyfeillgar ddiddorol ar gyfer tm Dan 21 Port yn erbyn tm Dan 21 Market Drayton o Sir Amwythig. Mae Roberts wedi trefnur gm yn dilyn ymweliad ir Clwb fel rhan oi waith o Asesu Hyfforddwyr ar eu cymhwysterau UEFA.
Nes i ymweld r Clwb ac, o ganlyniad, rydym wedi trefnur gm hon ac hefyd gemau in chwaraewyr ifan yn yr Academi. Dwin meddwl ei bod yn bwysig in chwaraewyr ifanc yn yr Ail Dm gael cyfle i chwarae yn erbyn chwaraewyr o safon uwch nar rhai syn chwarae yng Nghynghrair Gwynedd os ydynt yn mynd i godi ir Tm Cyntaf.
Nid yw dyddiad y gm wedi cael ei gadarnhau, ond bydd y Cydreolwyr yn trafod efo aelodaur pwyllgor yn fuan gan geisio cael lle ir gm rhwng gemau eraill pwysig yn y Cwpanau.
Pwysleisiodd Roberts bod yr Ail Dm yn hanfodol i lwyddiant y clwb yn y dyfodol. Yr unig ffordd y gallwn ni oroesi yn yr Uwch Gynghrair dros y blynyddoedd nesaf yw dyrchafu chwaraewyr tu mewn y clwb. Roedd 5 or chwaraewyr a chwaraeodd neithiwr yn erbyn Caernarfon wedi codi drwyr system, a bydd y cyflenwad hwnnw yn parhau. Mae Viv a mi wedin plesion fawr efo dau neu dri or chwaraewyr ifanc yn ystod yr ymarfer a byddant yn sicr o gael cyfle yn eithaf buan.

Joint Manager Osian Roberts has arranged a fascinating friendly for Ports Under 21 players against their counterparts from Shropshire side Market Drayton. Roberts has arranged the match following a visit to the Club as part of his work Assessing Coaches on their UEFA qualifications.
I recently visited the Club and as a result weve organised this match and also matches for our youngsters in the Academy. I think its important for our young players in the Reserves to get an opportunity to play more quality matches than they get in the Gwynedd League if they are to progress into the first team.
The date for the match is yet to be confirmed, but the Joint Managers will sit down with the committee members shortly and try and fit the midweek match around other important Cup matches.
Roberts emphasised that the Reserve side are vital to the future success of the Club. The only way we can survive over the next few years in the WPL is to promote from within. Last night at Caernarfon no less than 5 of the players involved had come through the system, and that supply cant run out. Viv and I have been quite impressed with two or three other young reserves in training and no doubt their chance will come sooner rather than later.

Yr Academi Dan 21 yn disgleirio / Academy Under 12 shine

Cafodd Academi Dan 12 Porthmadog ddechrau gwych gyda buddugoliaeth gartref yn erbyn Cei Connah ddydd Sul. Roedd safon y chwaraen dda, ac fe sgoriodd y ddau dm goliau gwych. Port oedd yr enillwyr haeddiannol yn y diwedd o 4 gl I 2, ond roedd yn rhaid iddynt weithion galed yn erbyn tm talentog a gweithgar y Nomadiaid. Llion Williams enillodd y gm efo dwy gl, yn dilyn goliau yn gynharach gan Robin Roberts a Cedri Owen.
Er ei fod yn falch bod yr hogiau wedi ennill y gm, roedd ganddo lawer mwy o ddiddordeb yn y ffordd roedd yr hogia wedi chwarae. Gan gofio mai hon oedd eu gm gyntaf ron in meddwl bod yr hogia yn wych. Nes i fwynhau edrych ar y gm. Mae canlyniadau yn rhoi hyder ir hogia y peth pwysig yw eu bod yn mwynhau ac yn datblygu.
Yn ystod y gm roedd y chwaraewyr yn gallu newid eu safleoedd a chwarae mewn safleoedd nad oeddynt wedi chwarae ynddynt or blaen. Mae clybiau rwyf wedi eu hymweld fel Ajax, Juventus a Valencia yn ceisio dysgur hogiau ifanc i chwarae mewn nifer o safleoedd pan maent yn ifanc, a dwin meddwl bod hwn yn syniad da. Maen siwr o helpur hogiau yn eu datblygiad wrth iddynt ddechrau dysgur gm.
Tm: Robbie Bridgewater, Josh Hughes, Liam Davies, John Owen, Leam Hughes, Chris Jones, Llion Williams, Robin Roberts, Cedri Owen

Porthmadog Academys Under 12 side got off to an excellent win at home against Connahs Quay Nomads on Sunday. The standard of play was good, and there were some excellent goals by both teams. Port eventually ran out worthy winners by 4 goals to 2, but were made to work very hard by a talented and hard working Nomads. Llion Williams proved to be the matchwinner with two goals, following earlier strikes by Robin Roberts and Cedri Owen.
Although pleased the boys had won the match, Director Osian Roberts was far more interested in the manner the boys played. Considering this was their first match I thought the boys were excellent. I really enjoyed watching the boys play. Results give confidence to the boys but at this stage its the enjoyment and development which Im looking at.
During the game all the players were able to change positions and play in positions they had never played in before. Clubs Ive visited such as Ajax, Juventus and Valencia all look to teach the young boys about several positions at a young age, and I think its a good idea. It can only help the boys in their development as they begin to learn the game.
Team: Robbie Bridgewater, Josh Hughes, Liam Davies, John Owen, Leam Hughes, Chris Jones, Llion Williams, Robin Roberts, Cedri Owen

Port yn methu arwyddo Jones / Port miss out on Jones

Aflwyddiannus oedd ymgais Porthmadog i arwyddo asgellwr ifanc Caernarfon Chris Jones. Ar l rhoi rhybudd 7-niwrnod o ddiddordeb, cysylltwyd efor chwaraewr ond mae bellach wedi penderfynu aros gydan cymdogion. Maer ffaith ei fod bellach wedi sgorio dwywaith yn erbyn Port, ac hefyd wedi ennill un cic or smotyn, yn dangos mai colled Port oedd y penderfyniad yma.
Dwedodd y cyd-reolwr Osian Robert Rwyf wedi siarad Chris amryw o weithiau ac o safbwynt pl-droed, roedd yn awyddus iawn i ymuno ni. Fe wnaethom gynnig telerau gwell nar rhai oedd o arno yng Nghaernarfon, ond fe gynigiodd Caernarfon delerau gwell fyth a oedd yn bell on cyrraedd ni. Yr arian oedd yn bwysig yn y pen draw; pob lwc iddo a dyna ddiwedd y mater.
Ategodd Viv Williams ei fod yn siomedig i beidio ag arwyddor chwaraewr ond fod rhaid symud ymlaen. Rwyn credu ei fod yn chwaraewr gwych. Er hyn mae Osh a minnau yn falch ein bod wedi sicrhau ein lle yn y rownd nesaf drwy ddod yn ail yn y Grŵp a gorffen uwchben y ddau dm arall o Wynedd, syn gamp fawr.
Sylwodd Williams hefyd ar eironi y sefyllfa bresennol. Ers i ni ddychwelyd i Uwch-gynghrair Cymru maen rhediadau Cwpan wedi bod yn siomedig tra fod ein safle yn y Gynghrair wedi bod yn well nar disgwyl. Y tymor hwn mae ein perfformiadau Cwpan wedi bod yn dda iawn tra fod angen gwellar perfformiadau yn y Gynghrair. Cofiwch, dydi ddim yn helpu ein bod ni wedi chwarae 8 gm darbi leol a 3 gm yn erbyn Rhyl yn ystod 3 mis cyntaf y tymor!

Chris JonesPorthmadogs approach for Caernarfons flying winger Chris Jones has proved unsuccessful. Following a 7-day notice of approach the player in question was contacted but he has now decided to stay with our near neighbours and rivals. The fact that he has since scored twice against Port and was awarded a penalty at the Traeth shows what Port missed out on.
Joint Manager Osian Roberts said I spoke to Chris several times and from a footballing viewpoint he was extremely eager to join us. We offered him a better deal than what he was on, but then Caernarfon came back with a counter offer which was well beyond our means. Money talked in the end, good luck to him, and that is the end of the matter for now.
Viv Williams also commented that although they were disappointed not to get their man, the show must go on. I think hes a smashing player. Nevertheless Osh and I are pleased to come out of the Group second placed, and above both Gwynedd rivals Bangor and Caernarfon, which is no mean feat.
Williams also commented on the irony of our current situation. Since weve been back in the WPL our Cup runs have been disappointing whilst our League form has been more than satisfactory. This year our Cup runs have been very good but our League form needs to improve. Mind you, playing 8 local derbies and 3 games against Rhyl in the first 3 months of the season doesnt help!

TNS i ffwrdd yn y rownd nesaf / TNS away in the next round

TNSY wobr am y fuddigoliaeth heno o 2-1 yn erbyn Caernarfon fydd gm oddi-cartref yn Llansanffraid erbyn y pencampwyr TNS! Bydd munud o dawelwch yn cael ei gynnal cyn pob gm yn Uwch Gynghrair Principality Cymru y Sadwrn hwn er mwyn cofio pedwardeg mlynedd ers trychineb Aberfan lle lladdwyd 144 o bobl 116 ohonynt yn blant pan lithrodd tomen lo wastraff ar y pentref yn Ne Cymru gan orchuddio rhan or ysgol gynradd. Dywedodd Ysgrifennydd Uwch Gynghrair Principality Cymru, John Deakin, er fod yr holl chwaraewyr syn chwarae dydd Sadwrn yn rhy ifanc i gofior drychineb, dwin siŵr y byddai pawb yn cytuno ei bod yn addas i gofior drychineb a gafodd effaith mor bellgyrhaeddol ar Gymru dros y pedwardeg mlynedd ddiwethaf.

There will be a minutes silence prior to all Principality Welsh Premier League games played on Saturday to commemorate the fortieth anniversary of the Aberfan disaster in which 144 people lost their lives, 116 of whom were children when a tip of coal waste slid on to the South Wales village, engulfing the local junior school. Any flags flown at Principality Welsh Premier grounds will be at half mast.
Principality Welsh Premier League Secretary John Deakin said, although almost all of those participating in Saturdays matches will be too young to remember the disaster, Im sure that everyone would agree it appropriate to remember a tragedy that has had a profound affect throughout Wales for the past forty years.

Webber yn arwyddo i Fangor / Webber signs for Bangor

Lee WebberMae wedi'i gadarnhau heddiw fod cyn-gapten Porthmadog, Lee Webber wedi arwyddo i'r gelynion lleol - Bangor. Oherwydd fod gan Webber gytundeb gyda Port, roedd rhaid i Fangor aros 28 diwrnod cyn ei arwyddo - mae hyn yn esbonio pam ei bod wedi cymryd mor hir cyn i'r trosglwyddiad gael ei gadarnhau.

It has been confirmed today that ex Port captain, Lee Webber, has signed for local rivals Bangor City. Since Webber was under contract with Port, Bangor had to wait 28 days before completing the signing - explaining why it has taken so long for the transfer to be confirmed.
