CPD Ysgolion Cymru: Tarian Tom Yeoman chwaraewyd yn Porthmadog Ebrill 25 2009
Welsh Schools FA, Tom Yeomans Shield played at Porthmadog April 25, 2009

Enillwyr / Winners: Porthmadog Ail/ Runners-up: Sir Fflint/ Flintshire

Daeth yr wyth tm a enillodd eu lle yn rowndiau terfynol cystadleuaeth
genedlaethol Cymdeithas Bl-droed Ysgolion Cymru am Darian Tom Yeoman ir
Clwb Chwaraeon ym Mhorthmadog. Rhannwyd yr wyth i ddau grwp gydar ddau uchaf
yn y ddau grwp yn chwarae yn y rownd cynderfynol. Gwnaeth Porthmadog yn
arbennig o dda i gyrraedd y ffeinal a hynny o grwp anodd yn cynnwys Casnewydd,
Afan Nedd a Wrecsam. Cyrhaeddodd Sir Fflint y ffeinal o grwp yn cynnwys Sir
Benfro, Conwy ac Abertawe.

Mae cyrraedd y ffeinal, gan gystadlu gyda chymdeithasau mawr gyda phrofiad hir
yn y math yma o gystadleuaeth, yn haeddu clod mawr. Profodd y ffeinal yn
frwydr agos a brwdfrydig yn erbyn deiliaid y darian ond gyda run or ddau dm
yn gallu canfod y rhwyd 0-0 oedd hi ar y diwedd. Ond Porthmadog a hawliodd
Darian Tom Yeoman a chael eu coroni yn bencampwyr wrth weithredur rheol
cyfrif ciciau cornel pan maer ddau dm yn gyfartal ar goliau.

Ni allem fod wedi gofyn am fwy wrth y chwaraewyr oedd sylw David Nickless,
un o swyddogion ysgolion Sir Fflint wrth y Flintshire Chronicle wedir gm.
Wedi iddynt rhoi popeth roedd yn anodd colli yn y ffordd a wnaethant. Roedd
yna ddagrau a hwynebau hir ond gall y garfan fod yn falch ou hymdrechion y
tymor hwn.

Mae hyn yn dangos fod y gystadleuaeth hon yn un sydd yn cael ei thrin o
ddifrif. Llongyfarchiadau i chwaraewyr ifanc Porthmadog ar eu perfformiadau
yn y rowndiau terfynol ac iw hyfforddwr Evan Evans wrth iw garfan berfformio
mor rhagorol ar hyd y tymor.

Welsh Schools FA, Tom Yeomans Shield played at Porthmadog April 25, 2009

Winners: Porthmadog Runners-up: Flintshire

The eight qualifying teams, from all over Wales, met at Clwb Chwaraeon,
Porthmadog to compete in a national festival of primary school football for
the Welsh Schools Associations, Tom Yeoman Shield. The competing teams were
divided into two groups of four with the top two sides in each group playing
out semi-finals. Porthmadog youngsters did superbly well reaching the final
from a difficult group which also included Newport, Afan Nedd and Wrexham.
Flintshire reached the final from a group consisting of Pembrokeshire, Conwy
and Swansea.

To reach the final in competition with such large and well established
associations was a magnificent achievement. The final proved to be a
keenlycontested match against the Shield holders of the shield but with
neither side able to find the net it ended 0-0. The Porthmadog lads took the
trophy and were crowned champions on the corner count rule which states that
if the teams are level on aggregate, the one that earns the most corners is
declared the winner.

Flintshire schools official David Nickless told The Flintshire Chronicle
afterwards: We could not have asked any more from the players. They gave it
their all and to lose out in the way they did was hard for them to take. There
were a few tears and long faces after the final but all of the players in the
squad can be justly proud of their endeavours this season.

This shows how seriously this competition is taken. Congratulations to the
young players on their performances in the finals against such strong
opposition and to coach Evan Evans whose squad have produced such outstanding
form all season.
