24/01/11 Dim gêm nos Fercher / No game on Wednesday Ni fydd y gêm rhwng Port a Rhuthun yn cael ei chwarae nos Fercher (26 Ionawr) wedi’r cyfan. Pnawn Sadwrn cytunodd y ddau glwb i chwarae’r gêm wythnos hon ond mae’n debyg fod Rhuthun wedi ail feddwl yn ystod y daith adref a bellach ni fydd y gêm yn cael ei chwarae nos Fercher. Eisoes mae Gerallt wedi paratoi dwy rhaglen ar gyfer y gêm hon! The re-arranged League Cup-tie between Port and Ruthin Town will not now take place on Wednesday evening (26 January). A provisional arrangement had been reached between the two clubs but it now appears that Ruthin had a change of mind whilst travelling home from Porthmadog and the game will not now take place on Wednesday evening. Gerallt has already produced two match programmes for this fixture! 22/01/11 Gêm yn erbyn Rhuthun nos Fercher / Ruthin game on Wednesday Disgwylir i’r gêm yng Nghwpan y Gynghrair yn erbyn Rhuthun gael ei chwarae nos Fercher nesaf (26 Ionawr). Gohiriwyd y gêm, a oedd i’w chwarae ar y Traeth heddiw tua 2 pm wedi i’r dyfarnwr JB Roberts wneud arolwg hir a gofalus. Penderfynodd fod yna ormod o ddarnau wedi rhewi, yn arbennig y darn yng nghysgod y prif eisteddle, i adael i’r gêm fynd yn ei blaen. Cytunodd y ddau glwb i’r dyddiad newydd a chysylltwyd â swyddogion yr HGA. The postponed League Cup-tie against Ruthin Town is now expected to go ahead on Wednesday evening (26 January) at the Traeth. This afternoon’s game was eventually put off at 2.00 pm. after a very lengthy and careful inspection by the referee, J B Roberts. He decided that there were too many frozen stretches, especially in the shade of the main stand, to allow the game to go ahead. Both clubs have agreed to the new date and HGA officials have been consulted. 22/01/11 Ail archwiliad am 1 pm ar y Traeth / Second inspection at the Traeth at 1 pm Cafwyd archwiliad o’r cae yn ystod a bore ond mae rhannau o’r cae yn dal yn galed. Penderfyniad y dyfarnwr lleol J B Roberts ydy cynnal archwiliad pellach am 1 o’r gloch. Mae chwaraewyr Rhuthun yn bwriadu teithio i Borthmadog gan obeithio erbyn hynny bydd y gêm yn medru mynd yn ei blaen. An inspection of the Traeth has been made this morning by local referee J B Roberts and parts of the ground remain frozen. The referee has decided that a further inspection should be carried out after 1 pm. Ruthin Town players will travel to Porthmadog in the hope that the tie can be played this afternoon. 20/01/11 Rhagolwg: v Rhuthun / Preview: v Ruthin Town. Noddwr/Sponsor Meirion Evans ![]() Wrth iddynt geisio ddileu’r atgofion am y gêm yn Llandudno mewn tywydd difrifol ddydd Sadwrn bydd Port heb nifer o chwaraewyr profiadol. Byddant heb y capten Ryan Davies sydd, fel y blaenwr Marcus Orlik, wedi ei wahardd am un gêm ar ôl cyrraedd pum cerdyn melyn. Hefyd bydd Rhys Roberts a Darren Gowans ddim yn chwarae oherwydd fod y ddau eisoes wedi chwarae mewn cwpanau cynghrair dros glybiau eraill. Bydd angen partneriaeth newydd yng nghanol yr amddiffyn a bydd rhaid i Gareth Parry gloddio’n ddwfn i’r adnoddau sydd ganddo yn y garfan. Felly byddai taro golwg yn y spens am yr hen bâr o sgidiau pêl-droed yn syniad da! Tymor cymysg mae Rhuthun wedi’i gael, rhai buddugoliaeth da ac ambell golled ddrwg. Ei prif sgoriwr ydy Kevin Garland a rhwydodd deirgwaith yn Llangefni yn y rownd gyntaf ac roedd ymysg y goliau yn y gêm gyfartal 3-3 yn erbyn Penrhyn-Coch, tîm sydd bob amser yn wrthwynebwyr anodd. Ond er waethaf goliau Garland, Rhuthun ydy un o dri chlwb sydd wedi sgorio llai o goliau na Port. Y tro diwethaf i i’r ddau glwb gyfarfod oedd yn ôl yn Ionawr 2003 gyda Port yn ennill o 3-2 gyda Steve Pugh yn sgorio dwy a Lee Webber yn ychwanegu’r drydedd. Ruthin Town are the visitors to the Traeth on Saturday for a League Cup tie. Port reached this stage following a good win over Flint way back in September. Ruthin also gained a good away win at Llangefni in the 1st Round. It will be a depleted Port side who try wipe out the memory of last week’s heavy defeat in atrocious conditions at Llandudno. Port will be without their captain Ryan Davies, who like Marcus Orlik, will be serving a one match suspension after the totting up of yellow cards. Rhys Roberts and Darren Gowans are both cup-tied having previously played for Airbus and Llangefni respectively in League Cup competitions. Manager Gareth Parry will be looking for a new central defensive partnership and digging deep into the squad’s resources for this weekend. So a quick look for those old boots in the cupboard under the stairs might not go amiss! Ruthin have had a mixed season with some good wins and also suffering some heavy defeats. Their leading scorer Kevin Garland scored a hat trick at Llangefni in the last round and was among the goals last week again netting twice in the 3-3 draw against tough to beat Penrhyn-Coch. But despite Garland’s goals Ruthin are one of only three clubs to net fewer goals than Port. The last time the two clubs met in a competitive match was in January 2003 with Port winning by 3-2 with Steve Pugh scoring twice and Lee Webber adding the third. 18/01/11 Eisteddle newydd wedi’i gosod / New stand erected Ynghynt heddiw gosodwyd y ddau estyniad i’r eisteddle ar y pen Ynys Gron o’r cae. Felly bydd y cyfan mewn lle cyn y gêm ar y Traeth ddydd Sadwrn yn erbyn Rhuthun. Cost yr holl gynllun (eisteddleoedd tu ôl i'r gol, stiwdio teledu, goleuadau argyfwng, ac uwchraddio y llifoleuadau) yn dod i gyfanswm o £65,000. Bydd y swm a fuddsoddwyd ers 2004 i ddatblygu’r Traeth bellach yn dod i swm dros £300,000. Dros y cyfnod mae’r clwb wedi chwilio nifer o ffynonellau ariannol, ac wedi derbyn cefnogaeth gan nifer o fudiadau sydd â chyfrifoldeb am ddosbarthu arian grantiau. Ymysg y rhain mae: Cwmni Gwella Meysydd Cymru, Galluogi Gwynedd, cronfa ar gyfer ardaloedd gwledig a sefydlwyd gan y Cynulliad, Mantell Gwynedd a Chist Gwynedd, cronfa a sefydlwyd gan Gyngor Gwynedd. Cafwyd rhodd ariannol at y project gan Gwmni First Hydro o Danygrisiau a Llanberis. Cyfrannodd y cefnogwyr £2,500 drwy gronfa a sefydlwyd gan y clwb, a’r clwb ei hun yn buddsoddi £12,000. Mae’r uchod wedi golygu gwaith mawr yn chwilio am yr arian angenrheidiol ynghyd a llenwi ffurflenni yn gosod achos y clwb i dderbyn y grantiau. Mae’r swyddogion yn haeddu ein diolch. (Diolch hefyd i Dafydd Wyn am y cefndir ariannol) Earlier today work was carried out on the extension to the stand at the Quarry End. The two additional sections are now in place ahead of Saturday’s home game against Ruthin Town. The entire project (stands behind the goal, TV studio, emergency lighting and upgrading the floodlights) cost a total of £65.000. This latest development brings the total investment in ground improvements since 2004 to a sum in excess of £300,000. The club has sought and received the backing of numerous grant distributing organisations during the development period. These include: Welsh Ground Improvements Ltd., Enabling Gwynedd, a fund for rural areas established by the Welsh Assembly, Mantell Gwynedd and Cist Gwynedd, a fund set up by Gwynedd Council. Donations to assist with the project were received from the First Hydro Company of Tanygrisiau and Llanberis. Supporters, via a fund set up by the club, contributed in the region of £2,500 and the club itself invested in excess of £12,000. All of the above has entailed a tremendous amount of work sourcing the necessary funds together with the form filling making the club’s case to receive grant aid. Club officials deserve our thanks. (Our thanks also to Dafydd Wyn for the financial background) 14/01/11 Ein cydymdeimlad â Campbell / Our condolences to Campbell Gyda thristwch derbyniwyd y newyddion y bore yma fod ein is-reolwr, Campbell Harrison, wedi colli ei fam ar ôl salwch hir. Mae pawb sydd yn gysylltiedig â’r clwb yn estyn eu cydymdeimlad llwyraf a mwyaf didwyll a Campbell a’r teulu yn eu colled fawr. Mae Campbell yn ein meddyliau yn ystod y cyfnod trist yma. We were saddened to receive the news this morning of the passing of the mother of our assistant manager Campbell Harrison after a long illness. All at the club extend their deepest and most sincere sympathy to Campbell and his family in their sad loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with Campbell at this sad time. 13/01/11 Rhagolwg:v Llandudno / Preview: v Llandudno ![]() Yn eironig hefyd Iwan Williams sgoriodd un o goliau Port, ond ddydd Sadwrn gwisgo crys Llandudno fydd Iwan wedi iddo sgorio yn ei gêm gyntaf, gan roi tri phwynt i’w glwb newydd yn erbyn y Fflint. Mae’r fuddugoliaeth honno yn ei codi i’r 4ydd safle, 5 pwynt ar y blaen i Port sydd wedi chwarae dwy gêm yn llai. Wedi colli’r ddwy gêm yn erbyn y ddau dîm gorau yn yr adran bydd Port yn awyddus i ddychwelyd at y math o chwarae a ddaeth â rhediad diguro o 7 gêm iddynt cyn hynny. Mae’n werth cofio pe byddai Port wedi rhwydo yn ystod y cyfnod o bwyso yn yr ail hanner ddydd Sadwrn, pan ddaeth Gareth Jones Evans (ddwywaith) a Paul Roberts o fewn trwch blewyn i sgorio. medrau’r canlyniad wedi bod yn wahanol er waethaf perfformiad Gary O’Toole. Ar y funud olaf gohiriwyd gêm Llandudno yn erbyn y Rhyl yng Nghwpan yr Arfordir yr wythnos hon.. Dywed ei gwefan “Gohiriwyd gêm nos Fawrth yn y Cwpan Her oherwydd anafiadau a salwch ...” A gaiff hyn effaith ar y dewis at ddydd Sadwrn? Rhaid aros i weld! Port visit Maesdu on Saturday for the return HGA fixture with Llandudno Town. When the two teams last met back in August two Lee Thomas penalties and a 30 yard Adie Hoyle strike 4 minutes from time gave Llandudno 3 points in a game which Port had dominated for the first hour before player-manager Gareth Parry left the field injured. That too was the last league appearance for Gareth and we now await news of his possible return. Ironically Iwan Williams was on the score sheet for Port on that day but on Saturday will be lining up for Llandudno fresh from a debut goal which gave his new club 3 points against Flint. That win puts Llandudno up to 4th place and they have opened up a 5 point gap over Port. Port have, however, played two fewer games. After two defeats against the league’s top two Port will look to bounce back and regain the form, which before those games, produced a 7 game unbeaten run. Both Port and Llandudno have found goals difficult to come by as their record in comparison with the top three clubs shows. It is worth recalling that, despite Gary O’Toole’s super performance, had Port found the net during the period of pressure after the interval when Gareth Jones Evans (twice) and Paul Roberts were both very unlucky not to score. we could have had a different result. This week, Llandudno’s Coast Challenge Cup match against Rhyl was postponed at the last minute and on their on their website they report, “Tuesday night's away game in the Challenge Cup has been postponed due to injury and illness problems ...” Will this effect Saturday’s line-up? We shall wait and see! 12/01/11 Canlyniadau’r tywydd oer ar y Traeth / Aftermath to the cold spell felt at the Traeth ![]() The extremely low temperatures have taken their toll at the Traeth. In addition to the delay to the extension of the stand at the Quarry End there have been other problems at the ground related to the weather. Gerallt Owen reports that as many as 15 pipe bursts have been repaired to date. One of these, in the home dressing room, is described as serious with part of the ceiling coming down. Though it is reported that all 15 bursts have been repaired, further remedial work will be needed during the coming weeks. 11/01/11 Rhestr gemau wedi’i adrefnu / Rearranged fixture list published ![]() Ym mis Chwefror bydd y gemau yn erbyn Rhydymwyn ar 5 Chwefror ac yn erbyn y Trallwng ar 19 Chwefror yn aros yr un fath. Ond ar 12 Chwefror bydd Port yn ymweld â Cei Conna ac yn gorffen y mis gyda gêm adref yn erbyn Bwcle. Hyn yn golygu fod tair o’r pedair gêm yn Chwefror ar y Traeth. Wrth edrych ar y rhestr gemau, sydd bellach ar y wefan ac wedi’i olygu, fe welwch fod Port oddi cartref tair gwaith yn olynol ym mis Ebrill. Bydd yna chwe gêm yn Ebrill gyda’r tymor yn gorffen ar y Traeth yn erbyn Caersws. Many concerned followers will be pleased to see that the HGA fixtures have now been rearranged up to the end of the season, which will close on 30 April. The games at home against Rhydymwyn on 5 February and against Welshpool on 19 February remain unchanged but on 12 February Port will now visit league leaders Connah’s Quay. The last game of the month will be at home when the visitors to the Traeth will be Buckley Town on 26 February. This means that three of the four games in February will be at home. A look at the fixture list -which has now been updated on this site-, will show that there are three consecutive away games in April. Altogether there will be six games played in April with the season ending with a home game against Caersws. 11/01/11 Gwaith ar yr eisteddle i symud ymlaen / Work on stand extension to be completed Mae’r clwb yn edrych i symud ymlaen gyda’r cynllun i ddatblygu pen Ynys Gron o’r cae. Rhwystrwyd y gwaith rhag cael ei gwblhau yn ystod y mis diwethaf gan y tywydd drwg iawn a gafwyd dros nifer o wythnosau gyda 6 modfedd o eira a’r tymheredd yn disgyn i -8C. Fel y datgelwyd eisoes y bwriad ydy ychwanegu dau o ddarnau ychwanegol i’r Eisteddle ar pen Ynys Gron o’r Traeth. Os bydd y tywydd yn caniatáu bydd y gwaith yn cael ei gwblhau yn ystod mis Ionawr. Port are now looking to move ahead with the planned development of the Quarry End of the ground. The work has been held up by the extremely bad weather of the past several weeks with 6 inches of snow and temperatures as low as -8C.. As has been previously reported it was the plan to add two further sections with the work due for completion last month. Weather permitting the work the work will now be completed during January. 09/01/11 Clwb yn ysgrifennu at y Gynghrair / Club writes to league on fixtures ![]() Ond mae’r clwb yn dweud ymhellach yn y rhaglen, “Wrth fynd i’r wasg ni dderbyniwyd unrhyw esboniad o’r hyn mae (Chas Rowlands) yn ystyried gwneud. Mae’n amlwg bydd y tymor yn cael ei ymestyn tu hwnt i’r dyddiad gorffen gwreiddiol o’r 2 Ebrill. Mae’r diffyg gemau canol wythnos ar ddechrau’r tymor yn golygu fod ychydig iawn o le i adrefnu rwan.” “Er waethaf hyn, medd y clwb, mae adrefnu y gemau y llwyr yn orymateb, ac y byddai’n fwy synhwyrol i ffitio’r gemau a adrefnir o gwmpas y rhaglen gemau bresennol.” Ofni’r meddai’r erthygl bydd, “Swyddogion y gynghrair yn defnyddio’r problemau yn rheswm arall dros gyhoeddi’r rhestr gemau’n fisol, y dull mae’r swyddogion yn ffafrio, rhagor na’r rhestr tymor cyfan mae’r clybiau yn dymuno.” Mynegi, mae’r clwb, ofnau llawer, fod yr ail lefel ym mhêl-droed yn mynd i ddychwelyd i’r dull mis wrth fis amaturaidd. The club has written to the League fixtures Secretary, Chas Rowlands concerning the HGA’s approach to tackling the fixture backlog. This comes on the back of the League’s surprise decision, already reported on this website, to remove all fixtures beyond January from the list of fixtures on their official website. “Raising the spectre,” says Saturday’s match programme “that all the fixtures for the rest of the season will be totally revamped.” In their letter to the fixture secretary the club has urged him not to do this as it will cause confusion for spectators, possible problems for match sponsors and create possible clashes with events already booked at the Clubhouse. The club however state in the programme that, “At the time of going to press we have received no clarification as to what he (Chas Rowlands) is considering. It is clear that the season will be extended beyond its current 2 April finish. However the lack of early midweek fixtures has meant very little wiggle room for fixture rearrangement.” “However a complete revamp,” says the club, “is an over reaction, it would make much more sense to fit the rearranged games in around the already published fixtures.” The match programme article fears that, “League officials will portray these problems as another reason to publish monthly fixtures, their preferred option, rather than season long fixtures which the clubs wanted.” The club is expressing a fear of many that the second tier of Welsh football will see a return to the amateurish month by month fixture list. 09/01/11 Iwan yn sgorio i Landudno / Iwan scores for Llandudno ![]() Iwan Williams, who recently left the Traeth, scored a vital goal for his new club, Llandudno Town, on Saturday. Iwan’s goal, scored after 23 minutes, was the only goal of the game and the victory over Flint gave Llandudno three valuable points. The downside of Iwan’s success is that it opens a five point gap over Port. Llandudno will be Port’s next opponents at Maesdu on Saturday. 09/01/11 Un enillydd yn tote mis Rhagfyr / One winner in December Tote Tote Misol Y rhifau lwcus yn Tote Misol Clwb Cymdeithasol CPD Porthmadog ym mis Rhagfyr oedd 15 a 35. All prize winners have been notified and prizes claimed. 06/01/11 Rhagolwg Cei Conna / Preview: v Connah’s Quay. Noddwyr/Sponsors Hafod Wen Harlech ![]() Ond yn ddiweddar mae Cei Conna wedi cael y siom o golli ei prif sgoriwr Mike Hayes sydd wedi symud i’r Bala. Mae Hayes wedi sgorio 18 o goliau ym mhob cystadleuaeth y tymor hwn. Ond dydd Llun daeth Gary O’Toole i’r adwy gan sgorio ddwywaith yn y fuddugoliaeth dros Cegidfa. Nid yw’n ddelfrydol i chwarae timau gorau’r gynghrair yn dilyn cyfnod mor hir heb gemau cystadleuol. Ond mae’n siwr bydd ychydig o’r gwe pry cop wedi chwythu i ffwrdd ar ôl ymweld a ‘Sunny Rhyl’. Gyda Ryan Davies a’i bartner amddiffynnol Rhys Roberts yn gadarn yn y cefn, a tu ôl iddynt Richard Harvey yn edrych yn ddiogel iawn, mae sylfaen gryf yn y cefn. Yng nghanol y cae cafodd y chwaraewr ifanc Gareth Jones Evans gêm gyntaf addawol iawn a chwaraewr ifanc arall Jamie McDaid yn cael cyfnod da yn yr ail hanner. Gobeithiwn felly am lwyddiant o flaen gôl y gwrthwynebwyr ddydd Sadwrn! Having failed to press home the extra man advantage against 2nd place club Rhyl last Monday, Port will be looking to bounce back against current HGA leaders Connah’s Quay at the Traeth on Saturday. The Nomads have won 11 of their 13 games and are yet to share the spoils in a league match. They are a free scoring side finding the net 45 times in their 13 league games, in contrast to Port’s return of 18 goals in 12 games. This reticence in front of goal was once more in evidence at the Belle Vue. Connah’s Quay have however suffered a serious recent set back losing their prolific striker Mike Hayes who has joined Bala. Hayes has netted 18 goals in all competitions this season. On Monday however Gary O’Toole stepped into the breach for them with two goals to secure the win against Guilsfield. It has not been an ideal situation for Port taking on the top sides after such a long spell without a league game, but time on the pitch at Rhyl, in a competitive match, will have blown some of the cobwebs away. With skipper Ryan Davies and defensive partner Rhys Roberts looking strong at the back and Richard Harvey behind them looking safe, Port have a firm defensive foundation. In the middle of the park Gareth Jones Evans had a highly promising debut and another young player Jamie McDaid enjoyed a good second half spell. Let’s hope for more success in our opponents’ box on Saturday! 05/01/11 Swydd newydd i Gareth / New appointment for Gareth Dymunwn yn dda i’r rheolwr Gareth Parry wrth iddo gychwyn swydd newydd wythnos nesaf. Bydd Gareth, a fu’n swyddog gyda Chyngor Ynys Môn, yn symud i Gonwy lle fydd yn ymgymryd â swydd ddyddiol newydd fel ‘Cydlynydd Prosiect Ceidwaid Chwarae.’ Yn y swydd newydd bydd Gareth yn gyfrifol am y prosiect hwn i awdurdodau lleol Conwy, Gwynedd ac Ynys Môn. Our best wishes go to our manager Gareth Parry when he takes up his new appointment next week. Gareth, who was previously employed by Anglesey County Council, will be moving to Conwy where he takes up the new day job as ‘Play Ranger Project Co-ordinator” an appointment which means that his field of responsibility will include the three local authorities of Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey. 02/01/11 Gor-ymateb wrth ail drefnu gemau? / Drastic action on fixtures ![]() Bydd llawer yn gweld hyn fel gor-ymateb, a hynny er waethaf y gohiriadau niferus o ganlyniad i’r tywydd gwael iawn a gafwyd. Mae’r ffaith fod y rhestr gemau wreiddiol yn gorffen y tymor ar 2 Ebrill yn gadael digon o le i adrefnu cyn dod a’r tymor i ben. Hefyd gan nad oedd gemau canol wythnos yn y rhestr wreiddiol mae’n gadael mwy o le eto i adrefnu. Roedd diffyg gemau canol wythnos yn siom i nifer o glybiau. Os awn yn ôl i drefnu gemau mis wrth fis bydd yn cael ei weld gan lawer fel cam yn ôl gan ddychwelyd at un o agweddau salaf yr hen Cymru Alliance. Eisoes mae rhai yn awgrymu fod y dull mis wrth fis yn un sy’n dal i apelio at rhai mewn awdurdod. Rhaid inni obeithio mae ymateb dros dro ydy hwn gan y byddai’n ddull amaturaidd iawn i’r ail lefel o bêl droed yng Nghymru drefnu ei busnes. Mewn cynghrair lle mae nifer fawr o’r clybiau gyda’u llygaid ar ddyrchafiad ac yn ceisio datblygu mewn dull proffesiynol, rhaid i bob agwedd o’r gynghrair ddatblygu yn yr un ffordd. Following their statement on fixture re-arrangement (already reported on this website) the HGA have now deleted the entire fixture list on the official website, confirming only the games for January. Many will see this as an over reaction, and that despite the numerous cancellations resulting from the long stretch of inclement weather. The fact that the original fixture list ended on 2 April allowed several weeks of leeway before the season needed to come to a close. Also the fact that there were no midweek games in the original list gave further leeway, especially bearing in mind the fact that several clubs had voiced their disappointment at the lack of midweek games. If we revert to a month by month fixture list it will be seen by many as a retrograde step and a return to what was one of the worst features of the old Cymru Alliance. Some are already suggesting that a month by month fixture list is perhaps the preferred option of some in authority. We must hope that his a short term response as having a fixture list published month by month is a very amateurish way for the second tier of Welsh football to conduct its business. Most clubs in this league are doing their utmost to develop in a professional way with an eye to promotion, and we need to see all aspects of the league grow in a similar way. 31/12/10 Port yn teithio i'r Rhyl / Port travel to the Belle Vue ![]() Mae’r Rhyl yn ddiguro ar y Belle Vue yn y gynghrair yn ennill pump o’i chwech gêm. Mae gan y Rhyl dîm profiadol gyda Chris Williams a John Leah yn rheoli yng nghanol y cae a’r chwaraewr rheolwr Greg Strong a chyn chwaraewr Port John Keegan yn gadarn yn y cefn. Stuart Rudd, a sgoriodd yn erbyn Port ar y Traeth, yw ei prif sgoriwr. Mae chwarae yn erbyn y prif glybiau yn sialens ond hefyd yn gyfle i glosio at y timau uwchben. Ers iddynt golli 3-0 yn erbyn Rhyl ar y Traeth mae Port yn ddiguro yn y gynghrair. Ar y diwrnod hwnnw Port oedd y tîm gorau am awr ond cafwyd berfformiad arbennig gan Anthony Costa yn y gol i’r Rhyl i gadw Port allan. Dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf cafwyd nifer o berfformiadau da gan Port ar y Belle Vue ond heb y canlyniadau i adlewyrchu hyn. Os ydynt i dorri ar y rhediad gwael rhaid dangos hunan gred a’r math o chwarae hyderus sydd wedi sicrhau’r canlyniadau da diweddar yn y gynghrair. Port travel to Rhyl, on Monday ( 3 January ), with the prospects of actually seeing a HGA game looking good. This is the first of two difficult games against the league’s current top two. Rhyl were most people’s tip to return to the WPL at first time of asking and not many will have changed their view. Rhyl are unbeaten in the league at the Belle Vue winning five of their six games there. Rhyl have an experienced team, outstanding in midfield, with John Leah and Chris Williams while player manager Greg Strong and former Port defender John Keegan give them strength at the back where only 12 goals have been conceded all season. Stuart Rudd who netted at the Traeth is their leading scorer. Playing top sides is a challenge which also provides the opportunity to close the gap on the leaders. Port have not lost a league match since they were beaten 3-0 by Rhyl at the Traeth. On that day they dominated for an hour but an outstanding performance by Rhyl keeper Anthony Costa kept the visitors’ goal intact. Over recent years Port can count on many good performances at Belle Vue usually without the results to show for it. If they are to break that sequence on Saturday then they will need to show the self-belief that has produced the current run of league results. 29/12/10 Barry Evans yn mynd ar fenthyg / Barry Evans goes on loan Mae’r chwaraewr canol cae Barry Evans yn mynd ar fenthyg i’w gyn glwb Pwllheli. Chwaraeodd Barry i Bwllheli yn y gêm nos Fercher yn erbyn Port. Dechreuodd 5 o gemau i Port y tymor hwn gan hefyd ddod i’r cae fel eilydd ar 5 achlysur arall. Dymunwn yn dda i Barry gan ddisgwyl ei weld yn ôl ar y Traeth yn y dyfodol agos. The midfield player Barry Evans is to go on loan to his former club Pwllheli. Barry was in the Pwllheli team which played against Port on Wednesday evening. He has started 5 first team games this season and came on as a substitute in 5 more games. Barry is wished all the best and we look forward to seeing back at the Traeth at the near future. 29/12/10 Porthmadog yn ennill y gêm gyfeillgar / Porthmadog win friendly ![]() Rhoddodd y gêm gyfle da i’r ddau dîm gael gwared o ychydig o’r gwe pry cop a gasglodd yn dilyn cyfnod mor hir heb gemau. Hefyd cafodd Craig Roberts ei gyfle ar ôl anaf hir dymor. Aeth Port ar y blaen wedi 7 munud gyda Gareth Owen yn codi’n dda yn a bocs i benio croesiad o’r dde. Paul Roberts ychwanegodd yr ail ar ôl ugain munud yn troi cic gornel isel i’r rhwyd wrth y postyn cyntaf. Daeth y drydedd yn gynnar yn yr ail gyfnod wrth i Cai Jones droi’n dda yn y bocs a chodi ei ergyd i gornel uchaf y rhwyd. Ychwanegwyd y ddwy gol arall yn y cyfnod olaf. Gareth Jones Evans, yn erbyn ei gyn glwb, yn gorffen symudiad da iawn. Paul Roberts yn sgorio’i ail wrth benio croesiad Cai Jones heibio’r golwr gwblhaodd y sgorio. Gall Port fod yn hapus gyda llawer o basio da gan gadw meddiant am gyfnodau hir. Rhoddwyd croeso yn hwyr yn y gêm i’r siwpar sub Dilwyn Parry i’r maes i gymryd lle'r chwaraewr rheolwr Gareth Parry. Porthmadog ran out 5-0 winners in the training match against Welsh Alliance club Pwllheli. The game was played in three periods of 30 minutes to enable personnel changes to be made allowing all squad members time on the pitch. The game provided an excellent run out for both teams following such a lengthy period of inactivity and also enabled Craig Roberts to return after a long term injury. Port went ahead after 7 minutes when Gareth Owen rose well to head home a right wing cross. Paul Roberts added a second after 20 minutes turning a low corner inside the near post. The third goal came early in the second period when Cai Jones turned well in the box and lifted his shot into the top corner. The other two goals were added in the final period. Gareth Jones Evans, playing against his former club, finished off a slick Port move. Paul Roberts completed the scoring with his second, meeting an accurate Cai Jones cross at the back post. Port can be pleased with some of the excellent passing shown enabling them to retain possession for long periods. The game was also notable for super sub Dilwyn Parry’s Traeth debut replacing player manager Gareth Parry in the closing stages. 27/12/10 Port v Pwllheli nos Fercher / Port v Pwllheli on Wednesday Wedi’i gêm gynghrair arall gael ei gohirio, mae’r rheolwr Gareth Parry yn ceisio manteisio ar y newid yn y tywydd i drefnu gêm gyfeillgar yn erbyn Pwllheli ar y Traeth nos Fercher (29 Rhagfyr). Bydd y gic gyntaf am 7.00 o’r gloch. With yet another league match falling foul of the weather manager Gareth Parry has moved to provide his team with match practice by arranging a friendly against Pwllheli on Wednesday evening (29 December at the Traeth. The game will kick off at 7.00 pm. 26/12/10 Taclo yr holl ohiriadau / Tackling the fixture backlog Mae swyddogion yr HGA wedi rhyddhau y datganiad canlynol ar y wefan swyddogol:- “Gyda’r rhagolygon am i’r tywydd gwael o barhau mae’n annhebyg fydd yna gemau yn cael eu chwarae tan y flwyddyn newydd. Bydd angen adrefnu’r gemau a ohiriwyd. Golyga hyn newidiadau sylweddol i’r rhestr gemau wreiddiol a gyhoeddwyd. Wrth adrefnu bydd y canlynol yn cael ei ystyried:- 1.Pa gemau y gellir eu symud i ganol wythnos. 2.Ymestyn y tymor. 3.Chwarae ar gwyliau banc. Bydd y gemau a drefnwyd tan ddiwedd Ionawr yn parhau yr un fath. Nid yw’n bosib cyhoeddi rhestr gemau ar gyfer mis Chwefror gan fod gemau Cwpan Cymru a chwpanau eraill yn cael eu chwarae yn Ionawr a bydd y rowndiau nesaf yn cael eu chwarae yn Chwefror. Hyd yma ond 40% o gemau’r tymor sydd wedi’u chwarae, felly bydd rhaid ffitio’r 60% sy’n weddill i’r pedwar mis tan ddiwedd mis Ebrill.” HGA officials have released the following statement via the official league website:- “With the adverse weather expected to continue it is looking unlikely that any game will be played before the New Year. Postponed fixtures will therefore need re-arranging. This will mean that the original fixtures published for the season will be considerably altered. The following will be taken into consideration when re-scheduling:- 1. Which games can be moved to mid-week 2. Extending the season 3. Playing on bank holidays Confirmed fixtures until the end of January will remain the same. The fixtures for February cannot yet be published yet due to Regional and Welsh cup games being played in January and the next rounds scheduled for February. So far over forty percent of the fixtures have been played leaving almost sixty percent to be scheduled into the four months until the end of April.” 24/12/10 Gêm Bwcle wedi gohirio / Buckley game off ![]() The game against Buckley on Monday has had to be postponed due to the condition of the Traeth where heavy snow has fallen and the persistent low temperatures mean that the parking areas are frozen. The changing rooms have also suffered several burst pipes. All of this makes it impossible to play the game. 22/12/10 Iwan Williams yn gadael Port / Iwan Williams leaves Port ![]() “Mae Iwan y hogyn dymunol iawn, ar ac oddi ar y cae, ac wedi chwarae rhan bwysig yn ein llwyddiant hyd yma gan gyfrannu pum gol o ganol cae. Byddwn yn colli’r ysbryd i frwydro a oedd yn amlwg ganddo ar y cae ac wrth ymarfer a hefyd yn colli ei bresenoldeb yn yr ystafell newid.” Bydd penderfyniad Iwan yn pery syndod i llawer o gofio ei fod yn aelod rheolaidd o’r tîm ers cychwyn y tymor ac wedi bod a rhan allweddol yn y rhediad da diweddar. Ond esboniad Gareth Parry am y penderfyniad ydy: “Mae Llandudno wedi sicrhau lle yn y tîm iddo yn ei hoff safle, sef blaenwr canol. Roedd hi’n anodd i Port wneud hyn gan ystyried y ffordd mae Paul, Marcus a Cai wedi bod yn chwarae eleni.Ond bydd yna gyfle rwan i eraill fel Jamie McDaid, Cai Jones, y newydd ddyfodiad Gareth Jones Evans ac i Craig Roberts sydd yn dychwelyd o anaf.” Er waethaf ei siom mae Gareth Parry yn dymuno’n dda i Iwan, “Rwy’n dymuno’n dda iddo wrth iddo wynebu sialens newydd gyda Llandudno, ac mae’n gadael gan wybod bydd y drws yn dal ar agor iddo ar y Traeth.” Iwan Williams, who re-joined Port from Llanfairpwll in the summer, is to leave the club and join HGA rivals Llandudno. Manager Gareth Parry expressed his disappointment at Iwan’s decision adding, “Iwan is such a likeable player both on and off the pitch and has been an important part of our success so far this season contributing 5 goals from midfield. His never say die attitude on the pitch and in training will be missed, as will his presence in the changing rooms.” Iwan’s decision will come as surprise to many in view of the fact that he has been a regular in the team throughout the season contributing to the club’s excellent recent run. But Gareth Parry explains Iwan’s decision saying: “The main reason for Iwan leaving is the fact that Llandudno have assured him of a starting place in his favoured position as central striker. That is something that would have been difficult at Port with the current form of Paul, Marcus and Cai. But this does now leave an opportunity for others such as Jamie McDaid, Cai Jones, new signing Gareth Jones Evans and the returning Craig Roberts to cement their place in the starting line-up.” Despite his disappointment Gareth Parry wished Iwan well, “I would like to wish Iwan all the best in his new challenge with Llandudno, and he leaves knowing the door will always be open for him at the Traeth in the future.” 21/12/10 Neges Gareth ar ddiwedd 2010 / Gareth’s end of year message ![]() Mae'r mis diwethaf wedi bod yn rwystredig ofnadwy ac erbyn gem Bwcle wythnos nesa byddwn wedi mynd 5 wythnos heb gem gynghrair. Mae'r hogia wedi gweithio'n ofnadwy o galed dros y 4 wythnos diwethaf yn ymarfer tair gwaith yr wythnos ond roedd gem Bae Colwyn yn dangos fod dim tebyg i gêm go-iawn er mwyn sicrhau ffitrwydd llawn. Dwi'n siwr fod yr hogia wedi gweithio mor galed ac unrhyw dim arall yn y gynghrair a gobeithio y bydd hyn yn dangos yn erbyn Bwcle wythnos nesa. Diolch yn fawr iawn eto i bawb a gobeithio caiff pob un ohonoch Nadolig gwych ac edrychaf ymlaen i’ch gweld i lawr ar y Traeth ar y 27ain. Os bydd y tywydd yn gwella !! I would like to thank all of you for assisting Campbell and myself during the season so far. I realise that we did not have the best of starts for a number of reasons but from the very beginning of the season the support of the players, the board, the volunteers and the supporters has far exceeded anything that I could have imagined when I took up the post during the summer. The past month has been has been extremely frustrating and by the time of the Buckley game next week we will have gone 5 weeks without a league game. The lads have worked tremendously hard over the past four weeks and have trained three times a week. But the Colwyn Bay game showed that there is no substitute for game time to ensure match fitness. I am sure however that the lads have worked as hard as any team in the league and hopefully this will show when we take on Buckley next week. Thanks again to everyone and I wish every one of you a wonderful Christmas and look forward to seeing you down at the Traeth on the 27th. That is weather permitting!! 20/12/10 Y rheolwr yn ymateb i gêm Bae Colwyn / The manager responds to the Colwyn Bay result ![]() “Nhw oedd y tîm gorau dwi wedi’i weld yn y Bae ers blynyddoedd a dwi ddim yn gweld ni yn dod i fyny yn erbyn tîm gwell y tymor yma. Er hynny mi ddaru'r hogiau chwarae yn dda ar adegau, ac heblaw am rhoi gol gyntaf flêr i ffwrdd, a'r dyfarnwr yn methu "foul" ar Rhys, mi fasa ni wedi mynd i fewn ar yr hanner dim ond un gol i lawr. Y gol honno jyst ar hanner amser oedd y gol orau dwi wedi’i weld yn ein herbyn.” Ond roedd Gareth yn teimlo fod y diffyg gemau yn ddiweddar yn egluro pam nad oedd yr hogiau mor siarp ac arfer. “Roedd hi'n amlwg ein bod heb chwarae ers bron i 4 wythnos a'r hogia ddim yn edrych mor siarp a maent wedi bod, ond eto pob clod i Bae Colwyn am y ffordd roeddynt yn chwarae pêl-droed gwych gyda phob chwaraewr yn ifanc, ffit, sydyn ac yn gwybod beth oedd y nesa am wneud gyda'r bel. Mae'n well gen i ein bod wedi cael gwared o'r gwe pry cop yn y gêm yma yn hytrach na mewn gem gynghrair. Er hynny roedd hi'n siomedig mynd allan o'r gwpan ar ôl ei hennill y tymor diwethaf.” Gareth Parry was extremely disappointed with the Colwyn Bay result but full of praise for the Colwyn Bay performance. “They were the best team I have seen at the club for many years and I don’t see us coming up against a better team this season. Despite that, the lads played well at times and if it had not been for conceding a scruffy first goal and a second after the referee had missed the foul on Rhys, we could have gone in at half time just one goal down. That goal just before half time was the best scored against us this season.” But the recent lack of match practice went some way to explain why Port were not as sharp as usual. “It was obvious that that we had not played for almost four weeks as we did not show our usual sharpness. But praise to Colwyn Bay for the excellent football they played with so many young players who were fit and quick and knew each time what they needed to do with the ball. But I would rather we got rid of the cobwebs in this game rather than in a league encounter. I must admit though, that it was disappointing to go out of a competition which we won last season.” 20/12/10 Draw Nadolig a Draw Wythnosol / Christmas Draw and Weekly Draw Draw Wythnosol O ganlyniad i’r tywydd difrifol mae CPD Porthmadog wedi penderfynu dileu wythnosau 51,52 a 53 y Draw Wythnosol.
