20/12/10 Dim Bingo / No Bingo Oherwydd y tywydd drwg fydd yna ddim Bingo yng Nghlwb y Traeth heno (nos Lun). Fe fydd y Bingo nesaf ar nos Lun 3 Ionawr gyda’r rhif cyntaf yn cael ei alw am 8pm. Monday night's Bingo at Y Traeth has been cancelled due to the recent bad weather. The next Monday night Bingo will be on Monday January 3rd - eyes down at 8pm. 18/12/10 Gêm yn Cefn i ffwrdd / Game in Cefn off Syndod y byd mae’r gêm yn Cefn wedi’i gohirio yn dilyn mwy o eira dros nos. Surprise! Surprise! the game in Cefn is off following further snow overnight. 17/12/10 Archwiliad bore Sadwrn yn Cefn / Saturday morning inspection at Cefn ![]() “Bydd yna archwiliad o’r cae am 9.30 am. i benderfynu os bydd y gêm adref yn erbyn Porthmadog yn mynd yn ei blaen. Mae tua modfedd a hanner o eira ar gae y ‘Graig’ ac mae’r eira wedi achosi problemau ar y ffyrdd yn arwain at y stadiwm.” The Druids’ official website reports, with regard to Saturday’s (18 December) match, “The first team match at home to Porthmadog will have a 9.30am inspection as approximately an inch and a half of snow has fallen on The Rock pitch and has caused difficulties in accessing the stadium.” 16/12/10 Rhagolwg: v Derwyddon Cefn / Preview: v Cefn Druids ![]() Os bydd y gêm yn mynd yn ei blaen, yna bydd Port yn ymweld â’r ‘Graig’, cae newydd sbon Derwyddon Cefn. Mae’r cae newydd, a dyfodiad y rheolwr newydd Huw Griffiths, wedi bod yn gatalydd ar gyfer adfywiad clwb sydd yn roi sialens bendant i ddychwelyd yn syth i UGC. Ar hyn o bryd yn y trydydd safle ar ôl ennill 9 a cholli 2 o’u 13 gêm gynghrair, sef 9 pwynt yn fwy na Port sydd wedi chwarae dwy gem yn llai. Mae’r Derwyddon wedi sgorio’n rheolaidd, ac wedi canfod y rhwyd 33 o weithiau, ond dim ond 4 gôl gynghrair sydd gan ei prif sgoriwr Marc Griffiths sydd yn dangos fod y goliau yn dod o nifer o wahanol chwaraewyr. Cafodd y garfan eu hail adeiladu gan Huw Griffiths dros yr haf gan arwyddo nifer o chwaraewyr profiadol fel Warren Duckett a Mark Harris o’r Bala a Mark Peate a Marc Griffiths o’i gyn glwb yn y Trallwng. Cafodd Port gyfle i waredu ychydig o’r gwe pry cop o’r system ar Ffordd Llanelian nos Fawrth ond bydd angen iddynt fod ar ei gorau i ychwanegu at y rhediad o bum buddugoliaeth gynghrair yn olynol, a hynny yn erbyn clwb sydd wedi ennill pob un o’u pum gêm gynghrair ar y cae newydd. Gareth Parry managed to squeeze in a rare game on Tuesday, though he will have been disappointed at the result. But prospects for this weekend do not appear too good so it may well be another preview for a match that doesn’t take place!! Should the game go ahead Port will make their first visit to Cefn Druids’ brand new Rock Stadium. The new ground and the arrival of new manager Huw Griffiths have proved catalysts for a revival of fortunes for a club which is making a firm challenge for a quick return to the WPL. Currently in third place, having won 9 and lost 2 of their 13 league games, they are 9 points ahead of Port who have played two games less. They have been free scoring, finding the net 33 times, but their leading scorer is Marc Griffiths, who has only four league goals to his name, which suggests that their goals come from a number of sources. Huw Griffiths has rebuilt his squad over the summer recruiting a number of experienced players. Warren Duckett and Mark Harris have been signed from Bala and Mark Peate and Marc Griffiths from his former club Welshpool Town. Port got rid of some cobwebs at Llanelian Road on Tuesday but will need to be at their best if they are to continue their current run of five straight league wins and that against a club who have notched up five straight league wins at their new ground. 13/12/10 Ad-drefnu gemau a ohiriwyd / Sorting the fixture backlog ![]() Bydd Port bellach yn ymweld â Rhuthun ar yr 2 Ebrill a Rhaeadr ar 16 Ebrill. Fydd na ddim gemau yn cael eu chwarae ar 26 Mawrth, sef dyddiad y gêm rhyngwladol rhwng Cymru a Lloegr. Ond mae pump o gemau wedi’u trefnu ar gyfer nos Wener, gan gynnwys Port v Llangefni gêm a oedd wedi’i hadrefnu unwaith yn barod. Dwy gêm heb eu hadrefnu, ar hyn o bryd, ydy Port v Rhuthun a Caersws v Port. To enable fixtures to be rearranged following the mounting pile of fixtures postponed during this spell of extreme weather conditions, the Huws Gray Alliance have extended the season due to be completed on 2 April. Matches will now be played on 9 April, 16 April and 25 April. Port will now visit Ruthin on 9 April and Rhayader on 16 April. No matches will now be played on Saturday, 26 March which is the date of the Wales v England European qualifier. Five games have however been rearranged for Friday 25 March including Port v Llangefni, a game which had already been rearranged once. The home game against Ruthin and the visit to Caersws have still to be rearranged. 11/12/10 Bae Colwyn v Port nos Fawrth / Colwyn Bay v Port next Tuesday Mae’r gêm yn ail rownd Cwpan yr Arfordir yn erbyn Bae Colwyn wedi’i hadrefnu ar gyfer nos Fawrth nesaf 14 Rhagfyr ar gae Ffordd Llanelian. Bydd y gic gyntaf am 7.30 pm. The game in the second round of the Coast Challenge Cup against Colwyn Bay has been rearranged for next Tuesday, 14 December at Llanelian Road. Kick off 7.30 pm. 11/12/10 Fyny i 5ed lawr yn 7fed / Up to 5th down in 7th Cododd Port i’r 5ed safle, dros nos, o ganlyniad i fuddugoliaeth swmpus Cei Conna o 7-1 dros Rhos Aelwyd, a’r effaith a gafodd hynny ar wahaniaeth goliau Rhos. Ond erbyn heddiw maent yn 7fed wrth i Fflint ennill yn Rhydymwyn i fynd yn 5ed a Llandudno yn ennill pwynt da yn Cefn, i godi i’r 6ed safle. Roedd gêm Port yn un o dair a gafodd ei gohirio oherwydd y tywydd. Yn y gemau eraill a chwaraewyd sicrhaodd Rhyl y triphwynt yn gyfforddus yn Rhuthun a Bwcle yn ennill adref dros y Trallwng. Port moved up into 5th spot overnight as a result of Connah’s Quay’s thumping 7-1 win over Rhos Aelwyd and the effect that had on Rhos’s goal difference. But today they are down in 7th place with Flint winning at Rhydymwyn to go 5th and Llandudno picking up a good point at Cefn to claim 6th spot. Port’s game at Caersws was one of three games which fell foul of the weather. In the other games played there was a comfortable win for Rhyl at Ruthin and Buckley collected the three points at home to Welshpool. 10/12/10 Caersws v Port FFWRDD / Caersws v Port OFF ![]() Hon ydy’r gêm ddiweddaraf i’w gohirio o ganlyniad i’r cyfnod o dywydd oer eithriadol ac yn profi’n rhwystredig i Port a’i rheolwr Gareth Parry. Dyma’r 4ydd gêm yn olynol i’w gohirio ac yn golygu fod y clwb heb chwarae gêm ers 20 Tachwedd a’r fuddugoliaeth dros Cegidfa. The Huws Gray Alliance official website now (Friday evening) reports that the league match between Caersws and Porthmadog has been called off. Contrary to earlier expectations, a Friday afternoon pitch inspection has resulted in the postponement of Saturday’s match. This is the latest fixture to fall foul of the extremely cold spell which is proving a very frustrating period for Porthmadog and its manager Gareth Parry. This the fourth consecutive match to be postponed and they have not played since the 20 November win at Guilsfield. 10/12/10 Archwiliad bore Sadwrn yng Nghaersws / Saturday morning inspection in Caersws Nid yw’r gobeithion yn uchel iawn am i’r gêm, ar y Rec yng Nghaersws, fynd ymlaen yfory. Gosodwyd y siawns fel un o 50/50 neu lai ond bydd y penderfyniad terfynol ddim yn cael ei wneud tan ar ôl archwiliad o’r cae bore yfory (Sadwrn). Ystyriwyd symud y gêm i’r Traeth ond yn y diwedd penderfynwyd peidio mynd ymlaen â’r cynnig hwn. The chances of the game at the Recreation Ground, Caersws going ahead tomorrow are rated as doubtful. Prospects are described as 50/50 or less but the final decision will not be made until there has been an early morning inspection on Saturday. Consideration was given to switching the game to the Traeth but on reflection it was decided not to proceed with this suggestion. 08/12/10 Rhagolwg: v Caersws / Preview: v Caersws ![]() Rheolwr ein gwrthwynebwyr ddydd Sadwrn ydy Mickey Evans, a ddychwelodd i’r clwb a arweiniodd i lwyddiannau mawr yn ystod 18 mlynedd yn UGC. Cymrodd Evans doriad o reoli ond mae’n cydnabod (wrth Newtown Today) ei fod wedi adfywio ar ôl y toriad, a’i olygon rwan ar geisio “ennill yr Alliance”. “Mae’n gynghrair dda gyda digon o safon ynddi. Mae yna bedwar neu bump o glybiau a’r gallu i’w hennill. Da ni wedi bod yn anlwcus gyda anafiadau yn ddiweddar a does na ddim dyfnder i’r garfan ond da ni’n mynd amdani.” Mae wedi ail adeiladu’r tîm ac wedi ail arwyddo ei fab Graham, felly gyda Paul Roberts yn nhîm Port, bydd dau o’r ymosodwyr gorau yn hanes yr Uwch Gynghrair yn wynebu’u gilydd. Gyda Chaersws ar hyn o bryd yn 4ydd yn y tabl, maent dau le yn uwch na Port. Hyd yma maent wedi ennill wyth gêm a cholli pedair ond heb sicrhau yr un gêm gyfartal. O’r pum gêm nesaf sy’n wynebu Port mae pedair yn erbyn y pedwar uchaf yn y tabl. Tipyn o sialens yn ei wynebu felly, ond yn gyfle hefyd, os yn llwyddiannus, i ddal y timau uwch ei pennau. Mae hyn yn bwysig os ydy Port am roi sialens ar y brig. Writing previews for games which are not played is a bit of a dead end job. But being the eternal optimist here goes again and that despite reported temperatures of -10 C in Caersws during the week. Saturday’s opponents are managed by Caersws legend Mickey Evans who returned to the club he led to outstanding achievements during 18 seasons in the WPL. Evans took a break from management but admits (to Newtown Today) to being refreshed following his break from the game and says he is focused on the job in hand to “win the Alliance”. “It is a good league with plenty of quality. There are four or five clubs capable of winning it. We have been a little unlucky with injuries of late and have a lack of strength in depth but we’re having a good go at it.” He has rebuilt the side and re-signed his son Graham and, with Paul Roberts in the Port team, it puts two of the main strikers in WPL history in opposition. Caersws in 4th spot are two places above Port in the table. With eight wins and four losses the mid-Wales club are yet to record a draw in the league. Of the next five games facing Port four are against the table’s top four sides. This represents quite a challenge but it also gives an opportunity to play catch up if Port are to mount a challenge on the top places. 07/12/10 Bingo Nadolig / Christmas Bingo Bingo Nadolig Bydd sesiwn arbennig Bingo Nadolig, Clwb Cymdeithasol CPD Porthmadog yn cael ei gynnal nos Wener nesaf, 10 Rhagfyr yn y Ganolfan. But with that organisation in disarray and without officials we cannot expect an early move from that direction. It begs the question as to why the NWCFA refused Porthmadog entry into the Clwyd Reserve Premier League, the only reserve league of a suitable standard available to them. This decision came very late in the day in order to prop up the ailing Gwynedd League. Read more. 06/12/10 Dyddiad newydd i gêm Rhuthun / New date for Ruthin clash Wedi i’r gêm yn erbyn Rhuthun gael ei gohirio ddydd Sadwrn, bydd y gêm gartref yn erbyn Rhuthun sydd eisoes wedi’i threfnu ar 22 Ionawr bellach yn cael ei chwarae yn ail rownd Cwpan Huws Gray yn hytrach nac yn y gynghrair. Nid oes dyddiad wedi’i osod ar gyfer y gêm gynghrair hyd yn hyn. Following the cancellation of Saturday’s match against Ruthin, the scheduled home match against Ruthin on 22 January will now be a Huws Gray Cup second round tie rather than the a league match. No new date has yet been set for the re-scheduled league clash. 04/12/10 Rhuthun i ffwrdd / Ruthin game off Mae’r gêm yng Nghwpan Huws Gray wedi’i gohirio. Dal wedi rhewi’n galed mae’r Traeth ac yn dilyn archwiliad o’r cae y bore ’ma cymerwyd y penderfyniad i ohirio’r gem. Er hynny, dim amser ffwrdd i’r garfan gan fod Gareth Parry wedi llogi lle ymarfer yng Nghaernarfon ar gyfer sesiwn y bore ’ma! Today’s Huws Gray Cup-tie against Ruthin Town is off. The Traeth remains frozen and following this morning’s inspection the decision was taken to postpone the fixture. No rest for the squad however as manager Gareth Parry had provisionally booked a training session this morning in Caernarfon! 03/12/10 Arolwg o’r cae / Pitch inspection ![]() Byddwn yn postio canlyniad yr ymchwiliad ar y wefan. With the weather continuing to cause widespread problems we shall have to await a Saturday morning pitch inspection before we know whether the Huws Gray Cup-tie against Ruthin Town at the Traeth can go ahead. Tomorrow’s decision will be posted on the website once it is known. 02/12/10 Rhagolwg / Preview: v Rhuthun. Noddwr / Match Sponsor: Meirion Evans Terfynnau ![]() Mae Rhuthun, yn eu pedair gêm gynghrair ddiwethaf, wedi cael buddugoliaethau dros Bwcle a Chaersws a gêm gyfartal yn erbyn y Trallwng. Bydd Port angen cadw’r rhediad, o golli ond unwaith (yn erbyn y Bala) yn eu deuddeg gem ddiwethaf, i fynd. Y tro diwethaf i i’r ddau glwb gyfarfod oedd yn ôl yn Ionawr 2003 gyda Port yn ennill o 3-2 gyda Steve Pugh yn sgorio dwy a Lee Webber yn ychwanegu’r drydedd. Should the atrocious weather relent Port will be in Huws Gray Cup action on Saturday. In the last round a Marcus Orlik brace helped them to a solid 2-1 victory over Flint at Cae’r Castell. Opponents RuthinTown pulled off an excellent 4-3 victory at Llangefni with their leading scorer Kevin Garland scoring a hat-trick. Despite their rather inconsistent league form, performances like the one at Talwrn Road mean that Port will need to be at their best to ensure progress to the semi-final. In the league Ruthin, in their last four games, have wins over Buckley and Caersws and draw with Welshpool. Port will need to continue their excellent record of losing only once (against Bala) in their last 12 games. The last time the two clubs met in a competitive match was in January 2003 with Port winning by 3-2 with Steve Pugh scoring twice and Lee Webber adding the third. 30/11/10 Newid y rhaglen gemau / Changes to the fixture programme ![]() Hefyd bydd angen adrefnu ymweliad â Rhaeadr. The Huws Gray Alliance have announced a number of fixture rearrangements. The home game against front runners Gap Connah’s Quay will now be played on Saturday, 8 January. The league fixture against Saturday’s League Cup opponents Ruthin Town will be played at the Traeth on 22 January. This means that the home game against Llangefni will be a rare midweek game at the end of the season on Wednesday 6 April. The postponed visit to Rhayader will also have to be rearranged. 30/11/10 Bae Colwyn v Port FFWRDD / Colwyn Bay v Port OFF Gohiriwyd y gêm yn Nghwpan yr Arfordir a oedd i’w chwarae nos Fercher (1 Rhagfyr) oherwydd y tywydd. Archwiliwyd y cae heddiw (bore dydd Mawrth) gan y dyfarnwr Mark Petch a gan nad oes unrhyw debygrwydd o feirioli penderfynodd ohirio’r gêm. Mae’r ddau glwb yn awyddus i chwarae’r gêm cyn y Nadolig ac yn ceisio dod o hyd i ddyddiad newydd. The game in the NWCFA Challenge Cup (Wednesday, 1 December) has been postponed due to the continuing bad weather. Match referee Mark Petch inspected the pitch on Tuesday morning and with no thaw forecast decided to call the game off. Both clubs will now endeavour to find an alternative date with both clubs keen to play the tie before Christmas. 28/11/10 CPD Porthmadog yn ymuno â Facebook! / Porthmadog FC joins Facebook! Mae bellach yn bosib i chi ddilyn hunt a helynt CPD Porthmadog trwy ymuno â'n tudalen ni ar wefan Facebook. Bydd manylion gemau, canlyniadau a newyddion i'w gael ar Facebook. Fixtures, results and news will all be available on Facebook. The only thing you need to do is click 'like'! 27/11/10 Gêm Rhaeadr i ffwrdd / Rhayader game off ![]() As expected the freezing weather has forced the postponement of the game at Rhayader today. 26/11/10 Amheuon mawr am gêm Rhaeadr / Rhayader game in doubt Rhybudd i gefnogwyr sy’n bwriadu teithio. Mae clwb Rhaeadr wedi adrodd fod cae’r Weirglodd wedi rhewi’n galed a fod yna amheuon mawr am y gêm yfory. Mae Port wedi cynnig i’r gem gael ei chwarae ar y Traeth ond does yna ddim penderfyniad terfynol wedi’i wneud. Unwaith i’r penderfyniad ddod i law byddwn yn ei bostio ar y wefan. Travelling supporters be warned. Rhayader have reported that their Weirglodd pitch is frozen hard which puts tomorrow’s game in serious doubt. Port have offered to switch the game to the Traeth. Up to the minute a final decision has not been made. The final decision will be posted once the website receives the information. 26/11/10 Gareth yn arwyddo un at y dyfodol / Gareth signs one for the future ![]() Gareth Parry, with an eye to the future, has announced the signing of promising young midfielder Gareth Jones Evans. The 18 year old is highly rated and Gareth Parry said of him, “He is one of the most promising young players in the area. He has trained with us for several weeks creating an excellent impression.” He has been a regular for Welsh Alliance club Pwllheli making 31 starts in 2009/10 and 15 more during this current season. He is available for selection tomorrow weather permitting! 26/11/10 Dim Bingo heno / Bingo off tonight Fydd yna ddim sesiwn Bingo heno oherwydd y tywydd gyda eira trwm wedi disgyn. Penderfynodd Clwb Cymdeithasol CPD Porthmadog ganslo’r sesiwn i’w gynnal heno (Nos Wener, 26 Tachwedd). Tonight’s Bingo organised by Porthmadog FC Social Club has fallen foul of the weather. With heavy snow having fallen, it has been decided to cancel the session due to be held this evening (Friday, 26 November). 25/11/10 Rhagolwg: v Rhaeadr / Preview: v Rhayader ![]() Yn 2007/08 ail gychwynnwyd y clwb gyda Dylan McPhee ( cyn chwaraewr Caerfyrddin, y Drenewydd a Chaersws) yn rheolwr. Y tymor hwnnw sicrhawyd dyrchafiad i Gynghrair Spar y Canolbarth â’r tymor diwethaf dyrchafiad i’r Cymru Alliance ar ôl gorffen yn ail i Penparcau. Ni chawsant bethau’n hawdd, ond yn ennill dwy gêm allan o 14 hyd yma. Ond bydd Rhaeadr yn siwr o frwydro’n galed i gadw ei lle yn y Cymru Alliance fel y dangosant wrth golli o drwch blewyn yn erbyn Derwyddon Cefn gyda Mike Collister yn rhwydo ddwywaith. Daw’r perfformiad yna ar gefn canlyniad da yn Llangefni a buddugoliaeth o 4-0 dros Rhuthun. Bydd angen felly i Port fod ar eu gorau i barhau â’r rhediad rhagorol o wyth buddugoliaeth oddi cartref yn olynol -yn y gynghrair a’r cwpanau. A hefyd rhediad diguro mewn saith o gemau cynghrair. Bydd Darren Gowans, a chwaraeodd ei gêm gyntaf i’r clwb yng Nghegidfa, yn ychwanegu dipyn o dân i chwarae’r tîm. Mae’r Weirglodd i ffwrdd o Stryd y Gorllewin yn Rhaeadr. LD6 5BP The last time these two clubs met was on 1 November back in season 1997/98 with both clubs in the League of Wales. Porthmadog ran out 3-1 winners in the game played on Rhayader’s Weirglodd Ground. The scorers for Porthmadog were Nigel Barry, Tony Draper and Mike Davies. Playing for Rhayader in that game was their current player-manager Dylan McPhee who has been instrumental in restoring the fortunes of the mid-Wales club. Things went downhill for them after dropping out of the League of Wales in 2001/02 culminating in the club going out of existence in 2006. The club was reformed for 2007/08 with Dylan McPhee (former player with Carmarthen, Newtown and Caersws) in charge. In that season they gained promotion back into the Spar Mid Wales League and last season, as runners-up to Penparcau, gained promotion to the Cymru Alliance. They have not found it an easy return, winning only two of their 14 league games so far. We can be sure however that Rhayader will battle to retain their place in the second tier as they showed against league leaders Cefn Druids, only going down by the odd goal in seven, with Mike Collister scoring a brace. That performance comes on the back of a creditable draw at Llangefni and a 4-0 win over Ruthin Town. Port will again need to be at their best to continue the current excellent run of eight straight wins in all competitions and a seven match undefeated league run. Darren Gowans, who made his debut last Saturday, will add an aggressive dimension to their play. The Rhayader ground is ‘Y Weirglodd’ off West Street, Rhayader. LD6 5BP 25/11/10 Gareth yn derbyn llawdriniaeth / Gareth receives a further operation ![]() Player Manager Gareth Parry, whose appearances for Port this season have been seriously restricted by an ankle injury, received a further operation on Tuesday (23 November). This was to put in a steroid attempting to get rid of the scar tissue from the previous operation. We hope that this treatment will be a success and will enable Gareth to add his skills giving the midfield. 22/11/10 Bae Colwyn v Port diweddariad / Colwyn Bay v Port update Mae dyddiad y gêm hon yng Nghwpan yr Arfordir wedi’u hadrefnu i’r noson ganlynol sef 1 Rhagfyr am 7.30 pm. The date of this Coast Cup fixture has now been re-scheduled for the following night (1st December, kick-off 7:30). 22/11/10 Gareth yn diolch i Llangefni / Gareth grateful to Llangefni ![]() The speed with which the transfer of Darren Gowans, from Llangefni to Port, was completed caught most Port supporters by surprise. The transfer went through on Friday afternoon thanks to the co-operation of the Llangefni club and in particular their manager Gus Williams. Gareth Parry expressing his thanks to Llangefni said, “The co-operation of the Llangefni club and their manager meant that Darren was able to play for us on Saturday. Had they chosen otherwise they could have made things difficult for us.” 20/11/10 Darren Gowans yn arwyddo / Darren Gowans signs on ![]() Darren Gowans has joined Port from fellow Huws Gray Alliance club Llangefni. His transfer went through on Friday in time for him to make his Port debut at Guilsfield. A strong left sided player with a powerful shot and an eye for goal he joined Llangefni from Bethesda following a spell with Bangor. We extend Daren a warm welcome to the Traeth and feel his positive style of play will be a valuable addition to Gareth Parry’s squad. 18/11/10 Cic gyntaf am 2 o’r gloch ddydd Sadwrn / / 2 pm kick off on Saturday Atgoffir cefnogwyr sy’n teithio i Cegidfa pnawn Sadwrn mai am 2 o’r gloch fydd y gic gyntaf –hyn gan nad oes goleuadau yn y cae. Supporters travelling to Guilsfield are reminded that there will be a 2 pm kick off. This is necessary as there are no lights at the ground. 18/11/10 Rhagolwg: v Cegidfa / Preview: v Guilsfield Ddydd Sadwrn bydd Port yn ymweld â Chegidfa am y trydydd tro yn eu hanes. Y tro diwethaf oedd yn Nhachwedd 2002 gan ennill o 3-0 gyda Tony Williams, David Farr a Carl Owen yn sgorio. Ers hynny mae’r clwb o’r canolbarth wedi datblygu’n dda ac ar hyn o bryd maent yn y 12fed safle yn y tabl. Mae dwy ffactor yn gwneud Cegidfa yn dîm peryg ar hyn o bryd. Mae ganddynt reolwr newydd yn Russ Cadwallader a gall hyn godi ysbryd tîm. Dangoswyd hyn ddydd Sadwrn wrth i Gegidfa sicrhau buddugoliaeth swmpus o 3-0 yn Llandudno. Hefyd mae ganddynt flaenwr ifanc yn Ross Frame sy’n canfod y rhwyd yn rheolaidd. Hyd yma y tymor hwn mae wedi sgorio 9 gôl gyda 8 yn dod mewn gemau cynghrair. Yn ei dymor cyntaf yn 2009/10 sgoriodd Frame, sy’n dal yn ei arddegau, 20 gôl. Arweiniodd hyn i’r Drenewydd ac Aberystwyth ddangos diddordeb ynddo. Ond bydd Port yn edrych i ychwanegu at y rhediad o 6 gêm gynghrair heb golled. Y tro diwethaf iddynt golli yn y gynghrair oedd ar 3 Medi. Mae llawer o’r llwyddiant diweddar wedi’i adeiladu ar y bartneriaeth ardderchog yng nghanol yr amddiffyn rhwng Ryan Davies a Rhys Roberts. Ond byddai nerfau’r cefnogwyr yn elwa o gael diweddglo llai cyffrous nag un neu ddau o’r rhai diweddar! Ond ar yr ochr bositif gwelwyd ysbryd a phenderfyniad wrth frwydro yn ôl pan fod pethau’n mynd o’u le. I gefnogwyr sy’n bwriadu teithio mae Cegidfa i’r gogledd o’r Trallwng i ffwrdd o’r A490. Ar gyfer y Sat Nav y cod post ydy SY21 9ND. On Saturday Port pay their third ever visit to Guilsfield. Their last was in November 2002 when they ran out winners by 3-0 with Tony Williams, David Farr and Carl Owen providing the goals. The mid Wales club have made solid progress since then and currently lie in 12th spot in the table. Two factors make Guilsfield dangerous opponents at this time. They are playing under a new manager in Russ Cadwallader and that can give a team fresh impetus. This was shown last Saturday when they gained a convincing 3-0 win at Llandudno. Also they have, in Ross Frame a young striker who finds the net regularly. To date this season he has scored 9 goals with 8 of these coming in the league. In his debut season of 2009/10 the teenager netted 20 goals. This persuaded Newtown and Aberystwyth to take an interest him. But Port will be looking to extend their 6 match unbeaten run in the league. Their last defeat came on 3 September. The recent success has been built around the renewed central defensive partnership of Ryan Davies and Rhys Roberts who have been in excellent form. Supporters’ nerves however could do without the nail baiting finishes of recent games. But on the plus side it shows a spirit of determination to fight back when things go wrong. For travelling supporters Guilsfield lies north of Welshpool off the A490. For Sat Nav users the post code is SY21 9ND. 17/11/10 Problemau ar yr Arfordir? / Problems on the Coast? Meddai Gareth Parry, “ Mae’r ffysio Andy Walling wedi roi rhaglen iddo er mwyn cryfhau ei ben-glin. Y gobaith yw y gwelwn Craig yn ôl yn chwarae erbyn diwedd mis Rhagfyr." Craig Roberts continues to make good progress following his knee operation at Gobowen on 2 November and on Monday night he trained for the first time. Gareth Parry reported “Our physio Andy Walling has given Craig a programme of work to enable him to strengthen his knee and we hope that he will resume playing by the end of December.” 16/11/10 Gêm Bodedern ffwrdd / Bodedern game off Penderfynwyd canslo’r gêm gyfeillgar yn erbyn Bodedern oedd i fod i gael ei chwarae nos yfory (Mercher). Mae hyn o ganlyniad i’r tywydd a’r rhagolygon am law mawr dros nos ac yn ystod y dydd yfory. Tomorrow’s friendly (Wednesday) with Bodedern is off in view of the weather and heavy rain forecast for later tonight and tomorrow. 16/11/10 Llongyfarchiadau Gareth / Congratulations Gareth ![]() “Er fod y sgiliau yma wedi’u hennill yn fy ngwaith gyda’r cyngor,” meddai Gareth, “dwi’n gobeithio mod i’n defnyddio’r sgiliau yma wrth reoli tîm Port.” Mae’r sgiliau a ddatblygodd fel gwella perfformiad ac ansawdd, gweithio gyda a datblygu talentau unigol, mesur y gwelliant sy'n dod o fuddsoddi mewn pobl a wynebu sialensau trefniadol, i gyd yn rhai fydd o gymorth i’r clwb. Daw hyn ag agwedd mwy proffesiynol i rheolaeth y tîm ac mae’n mynd llaw yn llaw gyda’r camau a gymerwyd oddi ar y cae yn ystod y broses drwyddedu. We congratulate our manager Gareth Parry on his success in the day job as Project Manager with the Anglesey County Council. He has been awarded Chartered Manager status by the Chartered Management Institute –one of the youngest worldwide to gain this status. Gareth says “Though these skills have been gained as part of my work for the council I feel that they are the kind of management skills that I have already been using to run the team.” The skills he has developed which will benefit the club include improving performance and quality, working with and developing individual talents, measuring the results which come from investing in people and meeting organisational challenges. This will bring a more professional approach to the management of the playing side and mirror the strides taken off the field during the licensing process. 16/11/10 Colli Richard Gwynfor Jones / Passing of Richard Gwynfor Jones Gyda thristwch derbyniwyd y newyddion am golli Richard Gwynfor Jones un o is-lywyddion hir dymor Clwb Porthmadog ac yn u o Ymddiriedolwyr cae’r Traeth . Roedd yn ddilynwr pêl-droed go iawn ac yn frwd ei gefnogaeth ar y Traeth bob amser. Gwelwyd ei golli ar ôl i salwch ei daro. Cyn brifathro Ysgol Llanfrothen roedd hefyd yn gyn ddyfarnwr uchel ei barch. Gwerthfawrogwyd ei ddiddordeb cyson a’i sylwadau ffafriol am y wefan hon. Estynnwn ein cydymdeimlad diffuant a’i wraig Elspeth a’r teulu cyfan. Yn arwydd o’r parch at Gwynfor safodd y cefnogwyr mewn tawelwch cyn y gêm yng Nghwpan Cymru ar y Traeth yn erbyn y Bala. It was with regret we received the news of the passing of Richard Gwynfor Jones a long time vice-president of Porthmadog FC and a Trustee of the Traeth Ground. He was a genuine football supporter and a regular at the Traeth over many years. His presence was missed when illness struck. He was former headmaster of Ysgol Llanfrothen and a highly respected former referee. His keen interest and favourable comments about this website were always much appreciated. We extend our sincere sympathy to his wife, Elspeth, and all the family. As a mark of their respect for Gwynfor supporters at the Traeth stood in silence before the Welsh Cup tie against Bala. |
