15/11/10 Proffwydi ar y Traeth / Traeth Prophets ![]() “ .... bydd yr 11 sy’n cychwyn yfory yn mynd i’r cae i frwydro hyd y funud olaf er mwyn sicrhau y tri phwynt holl bwysig i Port.” Ces di lwc gyda’r rhifau Lotri dros y penwythnos Gareth? Ond doedd Gerallt Owen golygydd y rhaglen ddim i’w anwybyddu chwaith pan ysgrifennodd: “ .... fe enillon o 2-1 ar gae Fflint yng Nghwpan y Gynghrair. Byddai ail adrodd y canlyniad yn ddelfrydol i ni pnawn ’ma. A dyma’r dylwythen garedig yn caniatáu ei ddymuniad!! Ond heb unrhyw wamalu mae’r hogiau wedi dysgu i gadw eu pennau yn uchel a pan mae pethau yn mynd o’i le brwydro yn ôl –ac ennill. What does Gareth Parry know that the rest of us are not privy too? In his ‘View from the Bench’ column prior to Saturday’s game against Flint he predicted: “ …. the starting 11 today will go out and fight till the last minute to secure a vital three points for Port.” Any luck with the Lottery Numbers this weekend Gareth? Not to be outdone programme editor Gerallt Owen wrote: “ …. we won 2-1 at their ground in the League Cup. A repeat result would be ideal this afternoon ….” And the fairy godmother granted his wish!! One thing is certain the lads don’t allow their heads to drop anymore and when things go wrong they fight back –and win. 15/11/10 Newidiadau i’r gemau / Fixtures and changes Bydd y gêm rhwng Port a Rhuthun sydd i’w chwarae ar y Traeth ar 4 Rhagfyr yn cael eu hadrefnu i fod y gêm yn wyth olaf Cwpan Huws Gray rhwng y ddau glwb. Chwaraeir y gêm gynghrair yn hwyrach yn y tymor. Cafwyd dyddiad hefyd ar gyfer ail rownd Cwpan yr Arfordir rhwng Bae Colwyn a Port. Bydd y gêm yn cael ei chwarae ar 30 Tachwedd ar gae Ffordd Llanelian gyda’r gic gyntaf am 7.30 pm. The league game between Port and Ruthin to be played at the Traeth on the 4 December will now be the game in the last eight of the Huws Gray Cup between the two sides. The league game will be rearranged to a later date. A date has also been fixed for the 2nd Round game in the Coast Cup between Colwyn Bay and Port. It will be played on the 30 November at Llanelian Road with a 7.30 kick off. 13/11/10 Cadarnhau gêm gyfeillgar / Friendly confirmed Cadarnhaodd y rheolwr Gareth Parry fod gêm ymarfer gyfeillgar wedi’i threfnu yn erbyn Bodedern. Bydd y gêm yn cael eu chwarae nos Fercher nesaf ar y Traeth, gyda’r gic gyntaf am 7.30 pm. Ar hyn o bryd mae Bodedern yn y 3ydd safle yn Ail Adran y Welsh Alliance. Ddydd Sadwrn mi guron nhw Llandyrnog sydd yn yr ail safle o 4-0 gan Bodedern. Manager Gareth Parry has confirmed that Port will play a friendly training match against Bodedern next Wednesday (17 November). Bodedern are currently in third spot in the Welsh Alliance Division 2. On Saturday they defeated 2nd placed Llandyrnog by 4-0. The game will be played at the Traeth kick off 7.30 pm. 13/11/10 Newyddion o’r Academi / Academy Round-up ![]() Yn barod eleni mae’r tywydd wedi amharu ar rhai o gemau’r academi. Bu’n rhaid gohirio’r dair gêm yn y Bala ar 30 Hydref. Amharwyd hefyd ar ymarferion yr hogiau Dan-11 sy’n ymarfer tu allan yng Nghanolfan Chwaraeon Glaslyn. Meddai Eddie Blackburn “Does dim gwahaniaeth sut mae’r tywydd yn ystod yr wythnos, neu hyd yn oed yn ystod y dydd Gwener, mae’n siwr o lawio ac yn oer ar y nos Wener. Ond mae ysbryd yr hogiau yn wych yn troi fyny’n ddi-fael bob wythnos gan ymarfer a gwên ar eu hwynebau. Dylai mwy ddod i weld yr hogiau’n chwarae eu gemau adref a chael profiad fydd yn godi’r galon.” The Academy were in action last weekend with home games in the Academies Cup against the Prestatyn Academy. Though the U-12 went down heavily the other age groups were successful. The U-14s defeated their counterparts by 3-2 while the U-16’s won their match by 4-2. Academy games have already fallen foul of the poor weather of the last few weeks. All three games at Bala (30 October) were postponed. The U-11s who train outdoors at the Glaslyn Leisure centre on Friday evenings have also suffered. “No matter what the weather has been doing during the week or indeed during the day on Friday,” commented Academy Administrator Eddie Blackburn, “they always seem to end up playing in the rain and cold. But the spirit amongst these boys is tremendous and they turn up week after week and play or train with a smile on their face. I urge people to come and watch these lads at home games, it's a truly uplifting experience.” 12/11/10 Geraint Mitchell yn symud at y Cofis / Geraint Mitchell joins the Canaries ![]() Geraint Mitchell has left Porthmadog to join Welsh Alliance club Caernarfon, now managed by ex-Porthmadog player and reserve team coach, Steve Smith. Since re-joining Port from Llangefni over the summer the right back, who lives in Caernarfon, has made 7 appearances. Gareth Parry said “I didn’t want to see him go as he will be a big loss to the squad. But, as many of the defenders have been performing well of late, Mitch hasn’t played as often as he would have wished”. He went on to say “He will be a great signing for Steve Smith as he starts the re-building process at Caernarfon.” 10/11/10 Ymweliad y Fflint / Flint's visit ![]() Having narrowly failed to make it ten matches unbeaten against Bala in the Welsh Cup last weekend, Port will be keen to extend their five match unbeaten run in the league when they face Flint Town United on Saturday. But they know that it won’t be an easy game against the side currently occupying fifth position. Although Flint lost last weekend against Llandudno, they beat front runners, Cefn Druids the previous Saturday. When both teams met in the League Cup on Cae-y-Castell, Port ran out 2-1 victors, with Marcus Orlik grabbing a brace, but it was a very tight and physical match, and Port will have to be at their best to repeat their feat. Flint currently have the fourth best scoring record in the league and their ability in front of goal was underlined as they swept Holyhead Hotspur aside by six goals to one in the North Wales Coast Challenge Cup in midweek. 09/11/10 Lotri Wythnosol / Weekly Draw Enillwyr diweddaraf y wobr o £100 yn y Lotri wythnosol yw: Wythnos 40, Rhif 165, Helen Owen, Criccieth; Wythnos 41, Rhif 193, Josie Havelock, Porthmadog; Wythnos 42, Rhif 47, David Williams, Penrhyndeudraeth; Wythnos 43, Rhif 147, Margaret Minton, Criccieth; Wythnos 44, Rhif 94, Darren Denby, Yr Hôb, Wrecsam ac Wythnos 45, Rhif 22, Rosie Cox, Gellilydan. Ond bydd y gêm hon yn wahanol iawn i’r ddwy fuddugoliaeth flaenorol dros Carno a Chonwy yng Nghwpan Cymru. Mae’r Bala wedi curo Llanelli yn y gynghrair, ac ond yn colli o 2-1 i TNS ar y cae plastig ac o 3-2 ar Faes Tegid yn erbyn ceffylau blaen Bangor. “Hon fydd y gêm galetaf o’r tymor i’r hogiau, rhybuddiodd Gareth Parry, “gan fod Colin (Caton) wedi adeiladu tîm cryf iawn yn y Bala yn enwedig ers arwyddo Mark Jones o Wrecsam. “Ond mi fuasai ennill ddydd Sadwrn yn rhoi hwb mawr i’r hogiau, yn sicrhau swm sylweddol o arian i’r clwb ac yn golygu ein bod ond un gêm i ffwrdd o rownd yr wyth olaf. Rwyf wedi gweld dipyn o gemau Bala eleni ac yn gobeithio defnyddio hyn yn ein sesiwn ymarfer olaf yn Nyffryn Nantlle. “Er y byddwn wedi hoffi clwb o’r Cymru Alliance neu chynghrair is, os oedd rhaid inni gael clwb o’r 12 Disglair, Bangor neu Bala byddai’r dewis wedi bod!” Pan ddaeth yr enwau yn dod o’r het roedd Gareth a Colin Caton yn prysur drefnu ail gêm ymarfer rhwng y ddau glwb. “Ond ar ôl i’r draw ddod allan da ni heb di siarad!!” jociodd Gareth “Mae’r hogiau’n edrych ymlaen yn fawr i’r gêm a chroesi bysedd byddwn yn yr het am y rownd nesaf nos Sadwrn!” Saturday’s Welsh Cup tie at home to Bala should be an interesting clash and a stiff test of the progress that Port have made over the last six weeks, putting together a run of nine unbeaten games. “The lads are currently full of confidence after this good run,” said Gareth Parry, “and they expect to give a good account of themselves and go for the win.” This third round game will, however, be a far cry from the previous Welsh Cup wins over the lower league opposition of Carno and Conwy. Bala have a win over Llanelli under their belts, ran TNS in a close 2-1 defeat on the plastic pitch and only went down to rampant Bangor at Maes Tegid by the odd goal in five. “This will be our most difficult game of the season,” warned manager Gareth Parry, “as Colin (Caton) has built a strong team at Bala especially after bringing in Mark Jones from Wrexham.” “But winning on Saturday would give the lads a huge lift, would give the club a substantial financial boost and would put us one game away from the quarter finals. I have seen Bala play on several occasions this season and hope to use that in our final training session at Nantlle Vale. “Though I would have preferred a draw against a Cymru Alliance or a lower league club, if it had to be Super 12 opposition I would have gone for Bangor or Bala! When the draw was made Gareth and Colin Caton were busy arranging a second training game between the two clubs. “But since the draw was made we haven’t spoken to each other!!” joked Gareth. “The lads are looking forward to the game and fingers crossed on Saturday evening we will be in the hat for the next round.” 04/11/10 Cic gyntaf am 2 o’r gloch / 2.00 pm kick off on Saturday Atgoffir cefnogwyr fod y gêm yn 3edd Rownd Cwpan Cymru yn erbyn Bala, fel pob un o’r gemau pnawn Sadwrn, yn cychwyn am 2 o’r gloch. Bydd y gemau yn gorffen ar y dydd gyda amser ychwanegol a ciciau o’r smotyn os bydd angen. Supporters are reminded that Saturday’s Welsh Cup Third Round tie against Bala will in line with other Saturday ties kick off at 2pm. All games will be played to a finish with etra time and penalties if necessary. 04/11/10 Newyddion cymysg am anafiadau / Mixed fortunes on long term injuries ![]() Ond ni chafodd Gareth Parry cystal newyddion, wrth iddo ddychwelyd i’r ysbyty am arolwg ôl-driniaeth. Clywodd y bydd rhaid iddo gael llaw driniaeth pellach ar ei ffêr. Bydd hyn yn digwydd ar 23 Tachwedd. “Rwy’n siomedig iawn,” meddai Gareth, “ar ôl gweithio’n galed iawn ar fy ffitrwydd dros y ddau fis diwethaf gan obeithio adennill fy lle yn yr un ar ddeg cychwynnol.” Dymunwn yn dda i Gareth, gan y byddai ei gael yn ôl ac yn rheoli yng nghanol cae yn fonws mawr i’r tîm. There is good news concerning one of Port’s long term injuries. A week earlier than had been originally arranged Craig Roberts received his knee operation on Tuesday at Gobowen and the signs are that all has gone according to plan. This means that Craig should restart training in about three weeks time. But the other long term injury, Gareth Parry himself, has not received such good news. Returning for his post operation consultation, he has been told that he requires a further operation on his ankle. This will take place on the 23 November. “I’m very disappointed,” said Gareth “as I have worked very hard on my fitness over the past two months hoping to regain my place in the starting eleven.” We wish Gareth well as his return as a midfield general would have been a major plus for the team. 02/11/10 Y Bae nesaf yng Nghwpan yr Arfordir / The Bay are next Coast Cup opponents Penderfynwyd gwrthwynebwyr nesaf Port yng Nghwpan yr Arfordir yn y ffordd mwyaf pendant yn Stadiwm Glannau Dyfrdwy heno. Yr ymwelwyr oedd Bae Colwyn a hwy aeth a hi a hynny o 10-0. Ie anodd coelio 10 (deg) gôl a dim ymateb ar rhan Cei Conna. Yn rownd nesaf y gystadleuaeth bydd Port yn ymweld â Ffordd Llanelian ar ddyddiad i’w drefnu. Port’s next opponents in the NW Coast Challenge Cup were decided in most emphatic fashion at the Deeside Stadium tonight when visitors Colwyn Bay were the winners by 10-0. Yes hard to believe 10 (ten) without a reply from Connah’s Quay. Port will visit Llanelian Road in the next round on a date to be arranged. 02/11/10 Rheolwr y mis am Hydref / October Manager of the Month ![]() Gwnaeth Gareth Parry arwain ei dîm i fuddugoliaethau yn Rhydymwyn a’r Trallwng a buddugoliaeth adref dros Rhos Aelwyd. Mae’n siwr i’r dewiswyr fynd o blaid Kevin Jenkins oherwydd cryfder y gwrthwynebwyr; sef buddugoliaeth adref dros y Rhyl ac oddi cartref dros y pencampwyr Llangefni. Cafwyd buddugoliaeth hefyd ym Mwcle. Er nad oeddent yn rhan o’r criteria, yn ystod y mis cafodd Port fuddugoliaethau yng Nghwpan Cymru a Chwpan yr Arfordir, sydd yn roi record o chwe gêm yn ddiguro i Gareth yn ystod y mis. Congratulations to Kevin Jenkins of Penrhyncoch who is the Teejac Sports, Huws Gray Alliance manager of the month for October. However Port manager Gareth Parry must have run Kevin Jenkins very closely for the accolade. Port and Penrhyncoch have identical playing records, being unbeaten in four HGA games. Both won twice away, once at home and drew when they played each other. Gareth Parry led Port to away victories at Rhydymwyn and Welshpool and a home win over Rhos Aelwyd. Kevin Jenkins probably took the award on the strength of the opposition his club defeated, with a home win against Rhyl and an away win against current champions Llangefni Town and also at Buckley. Although they were not part of the criteria, Gareth Parry can also point to October wins in the Welsh Cup and the Coast Cup making it an undefeated six games in October. 31/10/10 Tote Misol i Kevin mae’r pres / Monthly Tote Nice win for Kevin Pan dynnwyd Tote Misol clwb Cymdeithasol CPD Porthmadog am yr Hydref yn y Ganolfan nos Wener, y rhifau lwcus oedd 22 a 36. Un enillydd sydd sef Kevin Edwards, gyda’r wobr yn £690. Os oes rhywun arall yn hawlio’r wobr, dylech wneud cais cyn 8.00pm nos Wener 5 Tachwedd. When the Porthmadog Football Social Club Monthly Tote for October was drawn at the Ganolfan on Friday, the winning numbers were 22 and 36. Subject to verification there is only one lucky winner, Kevin Edwards of Trawsfynydd and his winnings are £690. Any other claims must be made before 8.00pm on Friday, 5 November. 29/10/10 Yr hogiau yn cefnogi'r ymgyrch / The lads support the campaign Cyn y gêm gartref yn erbyn Rhos Aelwyd y Sadwrn diwethaf, roedd chwaraewyr Port yn dangos eu cefnogaeth i ymgyrch Pêl-droed Cymru yn Erbyn Hiliaeth drwy wisgo’r crysau ‘Dangoswch y Cerdyn Coch i Hiliaeth’. Yn y lluniau mae Dan Pyrs a Barry Evans yn cynhesu fyny, a'r rheolwr Gareth Parry. Before last Saturday’s match against Rhos Aelwyd, the players showed their support to the Welsh Football Against Racism campaign by wearing the ‘Show Racism the Red Card” t-shirts. Pictured above are Dan Pyrs and Barry Evans during their warm up, and manager Gareth Parry. 29/10/10 Jonathan Sadler yn arwyddo i'r Wanderers / Jonathan Sadler signs for Wanderers ![]() “Mae Jonathan wedi gweithio’n galed iawn ac mae wedi bod yn bleser ei gael yn y garfan,” meddai Gareth Parry. “Mae’n hogyn cry’ ac mae ganddo droed chwith dda. Fe fydd yn gaffaeliad i Caernarfon Wanderers.” “Ar ôl cychwyn da i’r tymor ddaru o fethu tair gêm yn olynol oherwydd ymrwymiadau eraill” meddai Gareth, “ac erbyn hynny roedd y tîm wedi mynd ar rediad da ac ers hynny ni fi cyfle iddo adennill ei le yn y garfan. Rwy’n gobeithio fydd Jonathan yn parhau i ymarfer gyda’r tîm ac os bydd rhywbeth yn newid yn ystod y tymor efallai y cawn ei weld yn ôl yn lliwiau Port eto cyn diwedd mis Ebrill. Gall arwyddo eto i’r clwb unrhyw amser.” Mae pawb yn y clwb yn dymuno’n dda i Jonathan. Port forward Jonathan Sadler signed for Caernarfon Wanderers at the end of Wednesday’s match at the Oval. Gareth Parry said afterwards “Jonathan has worked really hard and it has been a pleasure to have him in the squad. He is a strong lad with an excellent left foot and will be an asset to the Wanderers.” He explained, “After a good start to the season Jonathan missed three consecutive matches early on due to other commitments, and by that time the team was on a run so his opportunities in the squad were very limited. I hope that Jonathan will continue training with us and should something change during the remainder of the season we could see him again in Porthmadog colours before the end of April,. He can re-sign for us at any time.” All at the club thank Jonathan and wish him well. 28/10/10 Dim nwy na Garlleg cyn ddydd Sadwrn / No Garlic or Gas before Saturday please ![]() “Lladd cwningod gyda nwy neu gosod garlleg ar y gwair i’w rhwystro, oedd dau o’r awgrymiadau mwyaf eithafol i glirio cae chwarae o’r gelynion bach fflwffi. Cafodd chwaraewyr rygbi, criced a phêl-droed drafferthion wrth i’r boblogaeth cwningod gynyddu ar gaeau Maes y Dre yn y Trallwng.Methiant bu’r ymdrechion i gwtogi ar y boblogaeth yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf. Bellach mae’r broblem mor ddrwg mae tyweirch wedi codi ym mhobman ac yn beryglus i chwarae arno.” Rhybudd ichi hogia!! It was very strange news for Port players concerning a plague of rabbits in a Daily Post report ahead of Saturday’s visit to Maes y Dre, Welshpool. “GASSING rabbits or smearing grass with garlic repellent were among the extreme remedies put forward to clear a playing field of the fluffy pests. Rugby players, cricketers and footballers have been plagued by problems as the rabbit population has increased at Welshpool’s Maes y Dre recreational fields. Efforts to curtail the booming population have failed over the last few years. And now the problem has got so bad the fields have become divot ridden and dangerous to play on.” You have been warned lads!! 28/10/10 Port yn y Trallwng ddydd Sadwrn / Port visit Welshpool on Saturday ![]() Felly does yna ddim lle i eistedd yn ôl os yw Port i barhau â’r rhediad da diweddar. Fel yr awgrymwyd ar y fforwm mae chwarae clwb sy’n brwydro am bwyntiau, gyda’r chwaraewyr yn awyddus i greu argraff ar eu rheolwr newydd, yn medru bod yn adeg beryg. Bydd yna dri phwynt pwysig i gystadlu amdano ddydd Sadwrn gan fod Port, o lwyddo, mewn safle da i godi yn y tabl. Roedd angen y buddugoliaethau blaenorol ond i ddal i fyny ar ôl y dechrau gwael. Yn ystod y gemau yn erbyn Rhydymwyn a Rhos creodd Port ddigonedd o gyfleoedd -sefyllfa wahanol iawn i’r tymhorau diweddar. Yr angen rwan ydy troi rhain yn goliau. Meddai Gareth Parry am y fuddugoliaeth yn Rhydymwyn “ .... byddai pethau wedi bod yn haws inni os byddem wedi cymryd y cyfleoedd clir a grëwyd yn yr hanner cyntaf.” Byddai ddydd Sadwrn yn amser da i ddechrau. Ychwanegodd Gareth, “Mae un neu ddau o berfformiadau yng Nghaernarfon wedi roi cur yn pen imi ynglyn a pigo’r tîm at ddydd Sadwrn yn y Trallwng!” Edrychwn ymlaen at barhad o’r gefnogaeth a gafwyd hyd yma, gyda chriw da o gefnogwyr yn teithio i’r Trallwng. It has not been a happy opening 3 months of the season for Welshpool. Early player recruitment problems led to them playing five unregistered players which resulted in a 15 point penalty which puts them at the bottom of the table with a points total of -11. They have now appointed Mike Barton as their manager. Barton enjoyed an excellent season at Guilsfield in 2009/10 and we can expect him to start turning things around at Welshpool very soon. His first move at the club was to bring in 7 new players some of whom played for the first time at Llandudno last Saturday. Having had an extra week to work with his new players we can expect signs of change at Maesydre. The new recruits include Callum Wright and Dan Dawson who have played for Newtown and Jimmy Haynes, formerly with Caersws. There can be no more room for complacency therefore if Port are to continue their current good run of form. As has been pointed out on the club forum when a team is fighting to start picking up points and impress a new manager it can be a dangerous time to visit. These will be three important points at stake for Port as they are now in a position, where if successful again, their improved form will start to be reflected in the table. Up to now they have been playing catch up after a poor start. The last two games have seen Port create a whole host of goal opportunities which hasn’t been the case over recent seasons. What is now needed is to convert more of these into goals. Commenting after the Rhydymwyn game manager Gareth Parry said (We) “.. could have made things a little easier for ourselves by converting the many clear-cut chances we created.” Saturday would be a good time start putting these chances away. Gareth also said, “One or two performances at Caernarfon have given me an added problem ahead of team selection for Saturday at Welshpool.” Let’s hope for another good turnout of travelling support –as has been the case from the start of the season. 25/10/10 Port ar yr Oval nos Fercher / Port visit the Oval on Wednesday Bydd Port, deiliaid Cwpan yr Arfordir, yn chwarae eu gêm Rownd 1af yng nghystadleuaeth 2010/11, nos yfory (Mercher) ar yr Oval yn erbyn Caernarfon. Hon bydd yr ymweliad cyntaf a’r cae ers i’r ddau glwb chwarae eu gilydd yn UGC yn nhymor 2008/09. Wedi cychwyn gwan sicrhaodd Caernarfon gêm gyfartal a allai brofi’n bwysig yng nghyswllt eu tymor yn erbyn Dinbych un o geffylau blaen yr adran. Mae sawl un o chwaraewyr Caernarfon â chysylltiadau blaenorol gyda Port gan gynnwys Jon Peris Jones, Jason Joyce a Chris Parry. Bydd y gic gyntaf nos Fercher am 7.30 pm. Porthmadog begin the defence of the North Wales Coast Challenge Cup tomorrow evening (Wednesday) when they visit the Oval, Caernarfon for a Round 1 game. This will be the first visit to the ground since the two clubs met in the WPL, in season 2008/09. Caernarfon after a poor start to their season gained what might prove a significant point in their last game against high flying Denbigh Town. Several players - Jon Peris Jones, Jason Joyce and Chris Parry - with previous Porthmadog connections could be included in the Caernarfon team on the night. The kick off is at 7.30 pm. 25/10/10 Diweddaraf am yr Academi / Academy latest ![]() Mae’r grwpiau oed eraill yn ymarfer ar fore Sul yn y Clwb Chwaraeon. Yr hyfforddwyr ar gyfer y tymor hwn yw: Dan-12 Mel Jones a Gareth Piercy, Dan-14 Gwyn Ellis a Richard Davies, Dan-16 Iolo Owen a Steve ‘Psycho’ Smith. Wythnos nesaf -31 Hydref- bydd y tri grwp oed oddi cartref yn y Bala. Gwelir y canlyniadau ac adroddiadau ar dudalen yr Academi. The U-11 season in the Tom Yeoman Shield is underway. The young players train at the Glaslyn Leisure Centre every Friday under the watchful eye of Mel Jones who is now assisted by new coaching recruit, Derek Roberts from Caernarfon. Though their first group of fixtures saw them lose their games against Conwy Schools, Mel expressed himself well pleased with the performances of a new group of young players who were playing together for the first time. For the next ‘festival’ of games they will be at home on Saturday 6 November. The list of scheduled fixtures can be seen on the Academy page. The other age groups train at Clwb Chwaraeon on Sunday mornings. This season they are being coached as follows: U-12 Mel Jones and Gareth Piercy, U-14 Gwyn Ellis and Richard Davies, U-16 Iolo Owen and Steve ‘Psycho’ Smith. Next week (31 October) they will be away at Bala. Results and match reports can be found on the Academy page. 22/10/10 Wayne yn cymryd yr awenau yn Rhos Aelwyd / Wayne takes over at Aelwyd Yn dilyn ymadawiad Steve Walters o sedd y rheolwr yn Rhos Aelwyd bydd Wayne Phillips, cyn rheolwr Derwyddon Cefn a Chaernarfon, mewn gofal dros dro o’r tîm pan fyddant yn ymweld â’r Traeth yfory. Following the departure of Steve Walters from the manager’s seat at Rhos Aelwyd former Cefn Druids and Caernarfon manager Wayne Phillips will be in temporary charge when the club visits the Traeth tomorrow. 22/10/10 Craig yn cael dyddiad y llaw driniaeth / Craig receives date for knee operation ![]() Port forward Craig Roberts, who has not played since being injured in the game against Rhyl on 4 September, has now been given a date for his operation. He saw a specialist yesterday and if all goes well he will have his operation on 9 November. Manger Gareth Parry says that Craig will then be able to start light training a week later and if he makes good progress he could be playing again before Christmas. This is good news as it is slightly ahead of what was suggested previously. 21/10/10 Rhagolwg v Rhos Aelwyd / Preview: v Rhos Aelwyd ![]() Bu yn wythnos gythryblus i’r clwb o ardal Wrecsam gyda Llandudno yn gwneud cwyn swyddogol yn eu herbyn ond i fod yn deg dyma oedd gan wefan Rhos i ddweud am y digwyddiad. “.... roedd unrhyw un a welodd y gêm yn medru gweld yn glir doedd ond un dacl wael drwy’r pnawn a honno ar Craig Hughes, un o chwaraewyr Rhos, yn ystod yr hanner cyntaf, ac ar wahân i hynny cafodd y dyfarnwr bnawn digon hawdd. Bydd Port yn edrych i ychwanegu at y record o chwe gêm heb golli. Yn eu tair gêm gynghrair ddiwethaf dim un gôl a sgoriwyd yn eu herbyn. Mae Gareth Parry yn dweud fod yna ysbryd ardderchog yn y garfan a bod y gystadleuaeth am le yn y tîm yn creu problem iddo. Mae yna dasg anodd yn eu wynebu, ond yn Rhydymwyn roedd arwyddion pendant fod y tîm yn datblygu’n dda. Cefnogwch yr hogiau! Gareth Parry in his 2010/11 preview said that promoted Rhos Aelwyd “… would have a point to prove and would surprise many people.” This has indeed proved to be the case with Aelwyd getting off to a flying start with a series of good performances. Good league wins over Caersws and Flint together with a League Cup win over rampant Connah’s Quay are evidence of this. Their manager Steve Walters was deservedly named as manager of the Month for August and, despite a defeat at Cefn and a draw last Saturday, they are in 6th place in the table. They are a strong experienced team. Aled Rowlands, at the back has over 300 WPL games under his belt and Wayne Phillips also provides experience and know-how. Up front former Bangor striker Mike Burke and young forward Josh Russell provide goal power. Former Port keeper Gavin Pearce is also in their squad. It has been a turbulent week for the Wrexham area club with Llandudno making an official complaint after last week’s game but, in fairness to them, their website presents a different picture. They say, “….. any viewers of the game could clearly see that there was only one bad tackle all afternoon which was actually on Rhos player Craig Hughes in the 1st period, and apart from the penalty incident the referee had a relatively easy afternoon.” Port will be looking to take their unbeaten run in league and cup to a 7th game. Their last three league games has seen them concede only one goal. Gareth Parry reports an excellent spirit in the camp with competition for places providing him with a difficult selection problem. A tough task awaits Port on Saturday but the signs of progress were clear at Rhydymwyn. Support the lads! 20/10/10 Pythefnos y Cerdyn Coch i Hiliaeth / Show Racism the Red Card Fortnight Pnawn Sadwrn, cyn y gêm ar y Traeth, yn erbyn Rhos Aelwyd, bydd y ddau glwb yn cymryd rhan yn y Bythefnos o Weithgarwch gwrth-hiliol gan ddangos eu gwrthwynebiad i unrhyw fath o hiliaeth mewn chwaraeon. Mae’r cyfnod hwn o weithgarwch pendant yn annog bob rhan o’r gymdeithas i rannu yn y dathliad o amrywiaeth a mynd i’r afael â hiliaeth. Un amcan pwysig o’r Bythefnos Weithgarwch ydy annog gweithgareddau a digwyddiadau gwrth-hiliol, gan gynnig gweithgareddau i gymryd lle ar hyd y flwyddyn. Mae nifer o fudiadau yn cychwyn eu gweithgareddau yn ystod yr Hydref ac yn dilyn hyn gyda mwy o ddigwyddiadau yn ystod y flwyddyn. Un dull sydd wedi’i brofi’n effeithiol, ac yn gwneud gwahaniaeth, ydy gweithio yn lleol i dorri’r rhwystrau sy’n arwain at agweddau ac ymddygiad hiliol. Gall y rhywystrau yma gynnwys: Ystrydebu hiliol Diffyg gwybodaeth am ddiwylliannau eraill Dulliau cau pobl eraill allan Y syniad fod un diwylliant neu hil yn well nag un arall. On Saturday, prior to the game at the Traeth against Rhos Aelwyd, both teams will take part in anti-racist Fortnight of Action and show their opposition to any form of racism in sport. This period of concerted action encourages participation from all sections of communities to celebrate diversity and tackle racism. A major aim of the Fortnight of Action is to encourage anti-racist actions, events and initiatives to take place throughout the year. Many organisations begin their actions during October and run follow-up events during the year. One proven way of making a difference is to act on a local level to break down barriers that lead to racist attitudes and behaviour. These barriers can include: Racial stereotyping Ignorance of other cultures Excluding practices The idea that any one culture or racial group is superior to another 20/10/10 Cyfarfod Aelodau’r Clwb / Meeting of Club Members ![]() Er fod yna gworwm o aelodau yn bresennol i gymryd y penderfyniad, ar awgrym y Bwrdd, pasiodd yr aelodau gynnig i gynnal cyfarfod arall cyn dod i benderfyniad terfynol, er mwyn sicrhau gwell cynrychiolaeth o aelodau. Amlinellwyd y cefndir hanesyddol gan Dafydd Wyn Jones, ar ran y clwb, sut y prynwyd y Traeth wrth Ystad Tremadog yn 1954 a wedyn sut y newidiwyd statws y clwb o un dan rheolaeth aelodau i gwmni cyfyngedig drwy warant. Eglurwyd rôl yr ymddiriedolwyr, gan y cyfreithiwr Talfryn Gruffydd, yn un lle roeddent yn dal yr eiddo ar ran y clwb, ond gyda’r hawl ond i weithredu yn unol a chyfarwyddyd a dymuniad y clwb. Esboniodd Dafydd Wyn Jones fod yna broblem yn codi ynglyn a pherchnogaeth wrth geisio am grantiau ac felly’r hawl i dderbyn y grant. Byddai trosglwyddo’r berchnogaeth felly yn tacluso’r sefyllfa. Nid oedd yr ymddiriedolwyr yn gwrthwynebu’r newid, ond am sicrhau fod y penderfyniad yn cael ei wneud gyda chydsyniad yr aelodau. Anogir aelodau i fod yn bresennol mewn cyfarfod arall, ar ddyddiad i’w drefnu, er mwyn gwneud penderfyniad terfynol. A meeting of members was held last night (20 October) to discuss and take a decision on the proposal of the Club’s Board of Directors that the Traeth should be transferred from the Trustees to Porthmadog Football Club Ltd. Though there was the necessary quorum of members present to take the decision, at the instigation of the Board themselves, a proposal was passed, by the members and with the approval of the trustees, to seek a greater representation of members at a further meeting before a final decision is taken. Dafydd Wyn Jones on behalf of the board outlined the historical context of the purchase of the ground from the Tremadog Estate in 1954 and the subsequent change in the status of the club in 1994 from a club controlled by members to a company limited by guarantee. Legal representative Talfryn Gruffydd explained the role of the trustees as one where they held the land in trust for the club but could only act according to the direction and wishes of the club. Dafydd Wyn Jones explained that, as the club sought grants to improve the Traeth, a problem arises as to the ownership of the Traeth and therefore the eligibility to receive grant aid. The transfer would be a tidying up process. The trustees themselves were not opposed to the change as long as the process was carried out with the approval of members. Members are urged to attend a further meeting on a date to be announced so that a final decision can be taken. 18/10/10 Trafferthion yn y Rhos / Trouble in Rhos ![]() Wedi i Llandudno sgorio cic gosb ddadleuol adroddir, “Roedd chwaraewyr a tîm rheoli Rhos Aelwyd wedi gwylltio’n arw ac aethant ati i brotestio a chega ar y dyfarnwr a’r cynorthwywyr wrth ddychwelyd i’r ystafell newid ar yr hanner. Yn ogystal roedd yna sgarmes rhwng aelod o dîm rheoli’r clwb cartref a chefnogwr wrth yr ystafell newid. Yn dilyn mwy o weiddi a iaith sarhaus o ymyl y cae penderfynodd y dyfarnwr fod digon yn ddigon a dangosodd gerdyn coch i un o dîm rheoli’r Rhos am ddal ati i gwyno a gweiddi’n ddi-baid. Aeth y wefan ymlaen i adrodd, “Ar ôl y gêm roedd yna ddigwyddiad yn yr ystafell gyfarfod gan aelod o dîm rheoli’r Rhos yn erbyn un o’n chwaraewyr ni ac y byddwn yn gyrru adroddiad amdano i’r gynghrair. Mae’r wefan hefyd yn dweud, “Rym yn codi cwestiwn am y criteria mynediad, gan fod y cyfleusterau yn y Rhos ddim o’r safon y disgwylir yn y gynghrair hon.” Following last Saturday’s game at Rhos Aelwyd, Llandudno Town have submitted an official complaint to the HG Alliance. Rhos Aelwyd are Port’s next opponents. Llandudno’s official website report that during the game their team were subjected to a “barrage of ‘in your face’ tactics.” After Llandudno scored from a disputed penalty it is reported that, “Rhos Aelwyd’s players and management were extremely incensed and continued to harass and protest to the match officials whilst returning to the dressing rooms at half time. Additionally, there was a fracas between a member of the home side’s management team and a supporter in the vicinity of the dressing rooms. Following further rants and verbal abuse from the touchline, the long suffering referee decided enough was enough and showed the red card to one of Rhos Aelwyds’s management staff for persistent aggravation.” The website further reports, “An incident took place at the after match meeting place by a member of the home team’s management against one of our players, which is being reported to the Cymru Alliance League. This sort of behaviour has no place in football.” Finally the website says, “We question the league on its criteria for entrance, as the facilities at Rhos Aelwyd fall way short of what is expected for the standards of football in this league.” 18/10/10 Dyddiad Cwpan yr Arfordir / Coast Cup date Bydd y gêm yn Rownd 1af Cwpan Her Arfordir y Gogledd, yn erbyn Caernarfon, yn cael ei chwarae ar yr Oval nos Fercher, 27 Hydref i gychwyn am 7.30 pm.
