15/10/10 Llongyfarchiadau Osian a Gethin / Congratulations Osian and Gethin ![]() Few if any Welsh managers can claim to have inflicted a 4-0 defeat on an England side at any level. That is the measure of Osian Roberts’ achievement in the Victory Shield U-16 international shown on Sky tonight. Port boy Gethin Jones, who is with Everton, was the Wales captain and the game’s outstanding player. The quality of play shown was a credit to the team, and the former Porthmadog manager, bearing in mind the wide choice of players from Premier League academies available to England. Osian was assisted by former Porthmadog coach Allan Bickerstaff. 15/10/10 Shannon yn symud eto / Shannon on the move Mae Aden Shannon, a ymunodd â’r Derwyddon o Borthmadog yn yr haf, wedi symud eto. Mae’n symud i Rhuthun, clwb arall yng Nghynghrair Huws Gray, wedi iddo brin ymddangos o gwbl i’r Derwyddon. Chwaraeodd Shannon 16 (+5) o gemau UGC dros Port yn 2009/10 gan sgorio 3 gôl. Aden Shannon, who joined one of his former clubs Cefn Druids from Porthmadog in the summer, is on the move again. After hardly featuring for the Druids he now moves to another Huws Gray League club, Ruthin Town. Shannon made 16 (+5) WPL appearances for Porthmadog in 2009/10 scoring three times. 14/10/10 Rhagolwg: v Rhydymwyn / Preview: v Rhydymwyn ![]() Ar ôl sicrhau dyrchafiad mae Rhydymwyn, ar hyn o bryd, pum safle yn uwch yn y tabl na Port ac wedi ennill dwy a dod yn gyfartal mewn dwy allan o’u saith gêm gynghrair. Ar ôl cychwyn yn dda yn Awst, colli’n drwm bu eu hanes, mewn gêm gynghrair a chwpan hefyd, yn erbyn Derwyddon Cefn a colli hefyd yn erbyn Caersws a Llandudno. Wedi chwarae chwe gêm gynghrair mae patrwm pendant yn datblygu gyda nifer o’r gemau yn gorfforol iawn lle mae timau yn cau lawr yn gyflym yng nghanol cae ac yn dibynnu ar wrthymosod. Hyn yn wir, heblaw am y gemau yn erbyn y Rhyl a Llandudno. Nododd Gareth Parry y pwysigrwydd o ‘ennill yn hyll’ a gyda rhediad o ennill pedair gyda un yn gyfartal mae yna arwyddion fod y gwersi’n cael eu dysgu. Ychwanegodd Gareth Parry, “Rwyf wedi sylweddoli’n gyflym nad yw bob amser yn bosib i ennill pob gêm drwy chwarae pêl-droed deniadol. I fod yn llwyddiannus rhaid bod yn barod i addasu i amgylchiadau gwahanol mewn gemau gwahanol.” Bydd dydd Sadwrn yn sialens arall mewn cynghrair lle nad oes gemau hawdd. The last time these two clubs met was in the Welsh Cup last season when Port were made to work hard before securing a 3-1 win with Jack Jones, Paul Roberts and Marc Evans on the score sheet. For a league encounter at Rhydymwyn we have to go back to February 2000 when the game ended 2-2 with Gareth Caughter and David Evans (p) scoring. A visit to Rhydymwyn which Port supporters would like to forget came in March 1999 when Port were on the end of a 6-1 battering and among the Port team that day was our assistant manager –sorry Cam. Promoted from the Welsh Alliance, Rhydymwyn are currently five places above Port in the table having won two and drawn two of their seven league games. After a promising start back in August they have suffered heavy league and cup defeats at the hands of Cefn Druids and lost to Caersws and Llandudno. Having played six HGL games a clear pattern is emerging with a number of games being very physical where teams close down quickly in midfield and look to strike on the counter attack. The Rhyl and Llandudno games apart this has been true. Gareth Parry has noted the importance of ‘winning ugly’ and with a run of five games without defeat the signs are there that the lesson is being learned. Gareth Parry added “I have quickly realised that in this league we won’t be able to win every game by playing attractive football, to be successful we need to be able to adapt to different situations in different games.” Saturday will be another challenge in a league where there are no easy games. 13/10/10 Eisteddle newydd i ddod / New stands on the way ![]() Hefyd fel rhan o waith y ffordd osgoi mae’r sied offer wedi ei symud o’i lleoliad wrth y brif fynedfa i ochr Clwb Chwaraeon y cae. Bu’n rhaid tynnu’r sied ac ei hail adeiladu yn y safle newydd. The work of developing the Traeth continues with further seating at the Quarry End of the ground. Two additional sections of 150 seats will be added to the existing stand behind the goal. With the base already being put in place the arrival of the two new sections is imminent. A date at the end of October has been pencilled in for installing them. The hope is that they will be in place in time for the visit of Bala Town in the Welsh Cup. As part of the on-going work on the by-pass the equipment shed, previously situated near the main gates, has been moved to the Clwb Chwaraeon side of the ground. This work entailed dismantling the shed and re-building it in its new position. 12/10/10 Colli Ifor Pritchard / The passing of Ifor Pritchard Bydd cefnogwyr Port yn tristau o glywed y newyddion am golli Ifor Pritchard, un o sêr oes aur yn hanes y clwb. Bydd cefnogwyr lawer yn dwyn i gof gyda phleser y dyddiau pan oedd Ifor Pritchard yn cadw gôl ar y Traeth, ac hefyd yn rhannu teimladau Treflyn Jones a ysgrifennodd heddiw ar y fforwm. “Trist iawn oedd clywed am ymadawiad Ifor Pritchard, Y Ddol. Mae gennyf go` plentyn ohono’n chwarae yn y gôl i Port am ran helaeth o’r 60`au ac roedd yn dipyn o arwr gen innau a’m cyfoedion ar y pryd. Chwaraeodd yn y tîm gwych hwnnw ochr yn ochr a J.O. Williams, Colin Webster, y byd-enwog Mel Charles a’r arwr lleol arall, Gwynedd Jones. Fe fu hefyd yn chwarae yn nhîm amatur Cymru gyda’r asgellwr poblogaidd David McCarter. Atgofion melys yn wir !” Estynnwn ein cydymdeimlad diffuant a theulu Ifor Pritchard. Port supporters will have been saddened to receive the news of the passing of Ifor Pritchard, one of the stars of a golden period in the club’s history. Many supporters will recall with pleasure the days when he played in goal at the Traeth and will share the feelings of Treflyn Jones who wrote today on the forum. “I was saddened to hear of the passing of Ifor Pritchard, Y Ddol. I have childhood memories of him playing in goal for Port during the greater part of the 60’s and he was a hero to me and my generation. He played for that magnificent team alongside J O Williams, Colin Webster, the world famous Mel Charles and also with Gwynedd Jones, another local hero. He also played for the Wales amateur team together with that popular winger David McCarter. Sweet memories indeed!” We extend our sincere sympathy to the family of Ifor Pritchard. 10/10/10 Cyfarfod Aelodau Cwmni Pêl-droed Porthmadog / Meeting of members of Porthmadog Football Club At Aelodau Cwmni Pêl-droed Porthmadog Cyf. ![]() Pwrpas y cyfarfod yw trafod a gwneud penderfyniad ar gais Bwrdd y Clwb i drosglwyddo perchnogaeth y cae oddi wrth yr Ymddiriedolwyr i Gwmni Clwb Pêl-droed Porthmadog Cyf. Pan brynwyd y cae gan glwb pêl-droed Porthmadog yn 1954 sefydlwyd pwyllgor o Ymddiriedolwyr i warchod buddiannau’r clwb. Yn ôl y gweithredoedd perchnogion y cae yw Clwb Pêl-droed Porthmadog gyda’r Ymddiriedolwyr yn gweithredu ar ei ran. Yn 1994 penderfynodd aelodau pwyllgor y clwb ymgorffori fel cwmni cyfyngedig trwy warrant (er mwyn diogelu eu buddiannau personol hwy). Yn ddiweddar mae’r sefyllfa hon wedi creu dryswch a chymhlethdodau yn enwedig wrth ymgeisio am grantiau a llynedd pan yn gwneud cais am y drwydded domestig gan y Gymdeithas Pêl-droed. Pwrpas cynnig Bwrdd y Clwb, felly, yw ffurfioli’r sefyllfa a throsglwyddo’r eiddo yn gyfreithiol i’r cwmni. Dylid nodi bod y cwmni wedi gwario dros £300k ar y Traeth a’I gyfleusterau ers 2004. Os nad ydych yn sicr o’ch aelodaeth gallwch gysylltu a Dafydd Wyn Jones ar 0781005744. To members of Porthmadog Football Club A meeting of members (only) will be held at the Social Club at the Traeth at 7.30pm on TUESDAY 19th. OCTOBER The aim of the meeting is to discuss and take a decision on the proposal of the Club’s Board of Directors that the Traeth should be transferred from the Trustees to Porthmadog Football Club Ltd. When the land was bought by Porthmadog FC in 1954 a committee of Trustees was established to protect the asset. According to the legal Deeds the owners of the Traeth are Porthmadog Football Club with the Trustees working to their direction. In 1994 the then Porthmadog FC Committee resolved to incorporate the club as a company limited by guarantee (to protect their personal interests). In recent times this situation has caused confusion and complications not least when applying for grants and when the club was trying to attain the domestic licence from the Football Association of Wales earlier this year. The Board’s proposal, therefore, aims to formalise the situation and arrange for the legal transfer of the property to Porthmadog FC Ltd. It should be noted that the present company has invested over £300k at the Traeth and its facilities since 2004. If you are unsure whether you are a member or not please contact Dafydd Wyn Jones on 0781005744 10/10/10 Trysorydd Newydd / New Treasurer appointed ![]() Mae CPD Porthmadog yn ddyledus iawn i’r cyn drysorydd Dafydd Wyn Jones a fu’n aelod o’r Bwrdd ers 1991. Mae wedi goruchwylio materion ariannol y clwb mewn cyfnod o argyfwng ac o twf mawr, yn gyntaf fel cynghorydd ariannol a wedyn yn Drysorydd am gyfnod o 14 mlynedd. Fel Robin, un o ffans Port ydy Dafydd. Yn dilyn argyfwng ariannol 1995 roedd ar flaen y gad wrth newid y clwb yn gwmni cyfyngedig drwy warrant. Yn ystod ei gyfnod gwelwyd y trosiant blynyddol yn tyfu i £170,000 gyda’r gwariant ar wella’r stadiwm yn £300k yn gyfan gwbl ers 2004. Chwaraeodd rhan bwysig wrth i’r clwb sicrhau benthyciad cost isel wrth y Co-op i godi Clwb y Traeth. Yn cydweithio gyda Angela Roberts, y swyddog trwyddedu, sicrhaodd fod yr agweddau ariannol i’r drwydded yn eu lle i alluogi’r clwb i ennill y Drwydded Domestig. Diolch Dafydd. It was announced that the Club's new Treasurer is Robin Williams of Madog Street. He played for the famous and successful amateur team of the 1950's before moving to play in goal for Wrexham. He has been a regular and enthusiastic supporter over the years and is a familiar figure behind the goal in the Townend Stand together with his friend Gwilym Evans . Robin has undertaken Treasurer duties with other organisations in the past. He takes on his responsibilities of this key post this weekend, and his willingness to take on the duties is welcomed by all at the club. Porthmadog FC is indebted to the retiring Treasurer Dafydd Wyn Jones, a board member since 1991. He has overseen the club’s financial affairs in times of crisis and of unprecedented expansion, first in the role of financial advisor and then, for the past 14 years, as Treasurer. Like Robin, Dafydd was and is first and foremost a Port fan. Following the financial crisis of 1995 he led the move to establishing Porthmadog FC as a company limited by guarantee. He has overseen the growth of the club to one with an annual turnover of £170,000 where expenditure on ground improvements has reached £300k since 2004. He also helped to secure a Co-operative low-cost Loan for the building of the Clubhouse Working with Licensing officer Angela Roberts he ensured that the financial aspects of the club were in their place to enable the club to gain a Domestic Licence. Thanks Dafydd. 06/10/10 Rhagolwg: v Penrhyncoch / Preview: v Penrhyncoch ![]() Y tro diwethaf i’r ddau glwb gyfarfod oedd yng Nghwpan Cymru llynedd, pan gipiodd Port y fuddugoliaeth diolch i gôl hwyr Chris Jones. Gorffen yn y 5ed safle yn y Cymru Alliance wnaeth y clwb o’r canolbarth yn 2009/10 ac yn amlwg yn wrthwynebwyr peryglus na fedr neb ei cymryd yn ysgafn. Trefn ddigon rhyfedd fu i’r gemau yn ddiweddar –un gêm gynghrair yn unig a thair gêm gwpan i gyd yn ystod y pedair wythnos ddiwethaf. Penderfyniad digon rhyfedd oedd ychwanegu gêm yng nghwpan y gynghrair pan oedd dwy gêm yng Nghwpan Cymru wedi’u trefnu’n barod! Chwarae gartref ac oddi cartref bob yn ail sydd orau i glybiau a chefnogwyr, a does dim angen ymennydd Einstein i sicrhau fod hyn yn digwydd. 4 Medi oedd y tro olaf i Port fod ar y Traeth. Y gobaith ddydd Sadwrn yw eu gweld yn mynd yn eu blaen i ychwanegu at y rhediad o bedair buddugoliaeth oddi cartref yn olynol a sicrhau’r fuddugoliaeth gyntaf ar y Traeth y tymor hwn. Penrhyncoch are a point ahead of Porthmadog and currently stand two places above us in the HG League table. They have won one and drawn two of their five matches so far. Their stand out result this season came in the Huws Gray Cup where they defeated, the previously unbeaten, Rhyl by the clear margin of 3-0. Their leading scorer this season, Josh Shaw, scored twice against Rhyl and he has also netted five times in the league. Clearly he is a player the Port defence will need to look out for, as well as his strike partner Stuart Frazer, formerly with Aberystwyth. The last time the two clubs met was in last season’s Welsh Cup at Penrhyncoch. It was a close contest in which Port snatched the victory with a late Chris Jones goal. Last season the mid-Wales club finished in 5th place in the Cymru Alliance so they are clearly dangerous opponents who will need to be treated with the utmost respect. The strange fixture arrangements has seen us play only one league game and three cup-ties in the last four weeks and we have been away for each of those games. It must be said that it was a strange decision to include a league cup-tie in a period where two Welsh Cup ties had already been scheduled. Playing home and away alternately on a regular basis is best for clubs and supporters and it cannot be rocket science to ensure that this is the case. The last time Port played at home was on 4 September. Let’s hope we can go on to extend the run of four straight league and cup wins on the road with our first win at home. 06/10/10 Cwpan Cymru ôl nodyn / Postscript to the Welsh Cup draw Cafwyd ôl nodyn diddorol i’r gemau yng Nghwpan Cymru. Roedd dau rheolwr clwb yn teithio gyda’u gilydd i Gaerdydd ar gyfer cwrs Trwydded-A. Roedd yna dipyn o dynnu coes am y posibilrwydd o enwau eu clybiau yn dod o’r het efo’u gilydd. Dychmygwch eu hymateb wrth i neges destun eu cyrraedd, fel roeddent yn agosáu at y brif ddinas, yn dweud y byddai eu clybiau yn gwrthwynebu eu gilydd yn nhrydedd rownd Cwpan Cymru! Y ddau reolwr yn rhannu car oedd Colin Caton o’r Bala a Gareth Parry, Porthmadog. “Dwi wedi dweud wrtho na fyddai’n siarad efo fo eto tan ar ôl y 6ed,” jociodd Gareth, “ac am deithio adref ar y trên!” We have an interesting postscript to the Welsh Cup draw. Two club managers were driving down to Cardiff to attend an A licence course. They joked about the chances of their clubs being drawn together. As they approached Cardiff imagine their reaction when they received a text to say that their clubs would indeed be playing each other in the Welsh Cup Round 3. The two managers sharing the car Colin Caton of Bala and Gareth Parry of Porthmadog! Joked Gareth Parry, “I’ll not be talking to him now until after the 6th and will be travelling back by train! 05/10/10 Darbi Gwynedd yng Nghwpan Cymru / Gwynedd derby for Port in Welsh Cup ![]() Yr unig dro i’r ddau glwb gyfarfod yng Nghwpan Cymru oedd yn ôl yn 1982 gyda Bala yn ennill 2-0. Yr adeg honno roedd chwaraewyr fel Aled Owen, Steve Smith, Joe Gaffey a Peter Lukacs yn y tîm ac roedd Port yn chwarae yn yng Nghynghrair Caernarfon a’r Cylch. Bydd Bangor, deiliaid y gwpan adref yn erbyn Bryntirion, clwb o gynghrair y de. Mewn gemau rhwng clybiau UGC bydd Airbus yn croesawu TNS a Llanelli yn wynebu Aberystwyth. Bydd Gwalchmai fel gwobr am eu rhediad da yn croesawu Port Talbot. Tynnwyd yr enwau gan Wayne Hennessy a Boaz Myhill. Port have avoided a long journey in the all-Wales draw made in the Vale of Glamorgan Hotel this afternoon. They have been drawn at home for the first time in this season’s Welsh Cup. In Round 3 they will meet WPL club Bala Town. The two clubs drew in a training friendly match last Tuesday, but on Saturday 6 November it will be the real thing when the two clubs meet at the Traeth. The only previous Welsh Cup meeting between the two clubs was back in September 1982 when Bala won 2-0. That season the likes of Aled Owen, Steve Smith, Joe Gaffey and Peter Lukacs were in the Porthmadog team and we were playing in the Caernarfon & District League! The holders Bangor, who will also be at home, play Welsh League(south) club Bryntirion Athletic. Airbus take on TNS and Llanelli are home to Aberystwyth in two all WPL clashes. Giant-killers Gwalchmai have been drawn at home to Port Talbot. The names were drawn by Wayne Hennessy and Boaz Myhill. 04/10/10 Canlyniadau Academi / Academy Results Cafwyd perfformiadau da gan y carfanau Academi y penwythnos yma eto. I weld y canlyniadau diweddaraf cliciwch ar y dudalen Academi –yn y rhestr ar y chwith. Bydd y canlyniadau yn cael eu diweddaru’n rheolaidd. Dywedodd Eddie Blackburn Gweinyddwr yr Academi fod y gemau wedi eu chwarae mewn ysbryd da gyda’r Drenewydd, fel bob amser, yn wrthwynebwyr teg a chyfeillgar. Diolch hefyd i Jacqui a Barbara am ofalu am y chwaraewyr ar ôl y gemau. The Academy squads have performed well again this weekend. For the latest results you can click on the Academy page –in the list on the left. Results will be updated regularly. Academy Administrator, Eddie Blackburn reports that the games were played in a good spirit and that Newtown as always were sporting opponents. Thanks also to Jacqui and Barbara for looking after the teams after the games. 04/10/10 Golwyr Cymru yn gwneud y draw / Wales keepers to make Welsh Cup Draw ![]() Mae yna 32 o glybiau ar ôl yn y gystadleuaeth, yn cynnwys 20 a ddaeth drwy Rownd 2, a’r 12 clwb ‘elit’ o UGC, sydd wedi cael eu hamddiffyn yn ychwanegol eleni gan y gymdeithas Bêl-droed, a cael mynediad yn syth i Rownd 3. Hyn wrth gwrs yn lleihau’r cyfleoedd am groen banana sydd yn greu gymaint o diddordeb mewn cystadlaethau cwpan. The draw for the Welsh Cup Round 3 will be made at the Vale of Glamorgan Hotel tomorrow (Tuesday 5 October) at 2 pm. International goalkeepers Wayne Hennessey (Wolves) and Boaz Myhill (WBA) will make the draw. There are 32 clubs left in the competition which includes the 20 survivors of Round 2 and the 12 ‘elite’ WPL clubs who have been given extra protection, by the FAW, with direct entry into Round 3. This reduces the chances of giant killing which is the lifeblood of all cup competitions. 03/10/10 Sêl Cist Car olaf / Last Car Boot Sale ![]() Cychwynnwyd y fenter yn 1996, er mwyn gwella sefyllfa ariannol ddyrys y clwb ar y pryd, ac mae wedi bod yn un o sylfeini’r ymdrechion codi arian. Ers ei gychwyn cyfrannodd £150,000 i goffrau’r clwb. Mae’r clwb yn ddyledus i’w diweddar gadeirydd Bob Havelock ac i’r cyfarwyddwr Clive Hague -cychwynwyr y fenter- i Robin a Jane Roberts am eu cymorth ers y dechrau yn cyhoeddi’r digwyddiad ac yn perswadio’ bwtwyr’ o seliau cist car eraill i ddod i’r Traeth. I eraill fel Gerallt, Dafydd Wyn, Dylan, Richard a Meirion Terfynau am roi Suliau diri i helpu, fel y gwnaeth Phil, Pete, Nigel a Rose am nifer o flynyddoedd wedi iddynt ddod yn gysylltiedig â’r clwb. Mae eraill hefyd wedi rhoi cymorth amhrisiadwy, ac mae’r clwb yn ddiolchgar iddynt am eu hamser a’u hymdrechion i sicrhau fod y Suliau yn rhedeg yn esmwyth. Diolch hefyd i Brian a Lynne o Erddi Pantglas a ddangosodd y posibiliadau drwy gynnal sêl cist car ar Sadyrnau yn 1995. Diolch hefyd i’r holl ‘fwtwyr’ a gefnogodd y sêl ar hyd y blynyddoedd ac i’r miloedd o gwsmeriaid a helpodd i’w gwneud y mwyaf a’r gorau yn y cylch. Ysgol Eifion Wyn fydd â’r Sêl Gist Car o 3 Hydref ymlaen ac mae’r Clwb yn dymuno pob llwyddiant wrth iddynt gynnal y traddodiad o roi i bobl leol ac i ymwelwyr wrth eu miloedd sêl cist car werth chweil. Er i’r Sêl ddod i ben mae gwerth y digwyddiad i’r clwb yn parhau gan y Sêl oedd y prif ystyriaeth wrth i’r iawndal, oherwydd y ffordd osgoi, gael ei bennu. Y sialens rwan, wrth i oes y Sêl Gist Car ddod i ben, yw i’r clwb ddefnyddio’r iawndal i lenwi’r twll ariannol adawyd. Last Sunday, September 26th, was the last car boot sale to be held at Y Traeth after a run of 14 years. This is due to the ongoing work on the Porthmadog by-pass and the fact that the Club is losing a sizeable portion of the current car park for the road. Started in 1996 in response to the dire financial situation the Club was in at the time, it has proved to be one of the bedrocks of the Club's fundraising efforts. Since its inception, it has contributed almost £150,000 to the Club. The Club owes a debt of gratitude to their late chairman Bob Havelock and to director Clive Hague, the instigators of the venture, Robin & Jane Roberts for their help from day one in promoting it and persuading booters from other car boot sales to come to Y Traeth. Gerallt, Dafydd Wyn, Dylan, Richard, Meirion Terfynau, were all involved from the start and gave up countless Sundays to help, as did Phil, Pete, Nigel and Rose for several years when they got involved with the Club. Others have also given invaluable help and the Club remains grateful to all who gave time and effort to ensure each Sunday went well. Thanks are also due to Brian and Lynne of Pant Glas Nurseries, who by starting a Saturday car boot sale in 1995 showed that running a car boot at Y Traeth was feasible. A very big thank-you is also due to all the "booters" who have supported the car boot throughout the years and the thousands of customers who helped to make it the biggest and best for miles. The mantle has now passed to Ysgol Eifion Wyn, who will be running a car boot sale each Sunday from October 3rd onwards. The Club would like to wish them success in carrying on the tradition of giving both locals and thousands of visitors a car boot worth visiting. As a footnote, even though the car boot has finished at Y Traeth, its value to the Club has not, as the greater part of compensation that the Club will receive from the by-pass is a result of losing the car boot sale. The big challenge for the future is to use that compensation money to replace the revenue lost from the demise of the car boot sale. 30/09/10 Golwg ymlaen at gem Conwy / Look ahead to the Conwy game ![]() “Roedd yr arwyddion yn addawol y tymor diwethaf pan enillodd gwyr y cregyn gleision Gwpan Cookson. Rwan, gyda Paul Moroney wrth y llyw, mae’r clwb â’r potensial i roi sialens am deitl y Welsh Alliance a maent hefyd yn gwneud yn dda yn y cwpanau.” Mewn Welsh Alliance gryf mae Conwy yn roi sialens ar y brig i Gaergybi a Dinbych ac yn y rowndiau blaenorol maent wedi curo Dinbych a Waterloo Rovers. Mae yna lawer i chwarae amdano a does yna ddim siawns y bydd Gareth Parry yn cymryd y gwrthwynebwyr yn ysgafn. Ni fydd am weld Port yn rhoi unrhyw hwb i adfywiad Conwy. Wedi’r cychwyn siomedig bydd Port yn edrych i ymestyn y rhediad presennol o dair buddugoliaeth yn olynol. Bydd y cefnogwyr am weld Port yn sicrhau eu lle yn y drydedd rownd ond byddai ychydig o’r pasio da a welwyd yn erbyn Bala hefyd yn fonws. Mae Gerallt Owen wedi nodi fod y fuddugoliaeth o 5-1 dros Carno y mwyaf i Port yng Nghwpan Cymru ers 1996 pan gurwyd Bwcle o 6-1. Er fod yna amheuaeth am ffitrwydd Ryan Davies bydd Rhys Roberts yn y garfan. Atgoffir cefnogwyr bydd y gic gyntaf am 2 o’r gloch. Mae cae’r Morfa yn Ffordd Penmaen. Y cod post ydy LL32 8HA Porthmadog face a tricky Welsh Cup Round 2 tie at Conwy on Saturday. Conwy were founder members of the then League of Wales but after the heady days of 1996, when they qualified for Europe, the club went into serious decline. But Port will do well to note that the decline has been arrested and as Dave Jones notes in his Daily Post blog: “The signs were encouraging last season with the Musselmen lifting the Cookson Cup.Now with Paul Moroney at the helm, they are looking like potential Welsh Alliance title contenders and are doing really well in the cups.” In a strong Welsh Alliance they are challenging at the top with Holyhead and Denbigh and in previous Welsh Cup rounds they defeated Denbigh and Waterloo Rovers. There is plenty at stake and Port manager Gareth Parry will not take the opposition lightly. He will not want Port to be the latest victims of the Conwy revival. After a poor start, Port will want to extend their run of three straight wins. Supporters above all will hope for entry into Round 3, but some of the excellent passing football shown in the training match against Bala would be a bonus. Gerallt Owen has noted that the win over Carno was the biggest Welsh Cup win since the 6-1 victory over Buckley Town in 1996. There is a doubt about the fitness of Ryan Davies but Rhys Roberts will be available. Reminder the game kicks off at 2 pm. The Morfa ground is in Penmaen Road. Craig Roberts, who received a bad injury during the game against Rhyl on 4 September and is unlikely to play again until the new year. Gareth added, “The club’s physio Andy Walling, who works with the club during Monday night training, has confirmed that Craig has a torn cartilage that will require an operation. He will now see a consultant in the hope that the process can be speeded up.” It is very disappointing for Craig, who missed two early season games through suspension and means that he has only managed 150 minutes play so far this season. 29/09/10 Gêm Conwy i gychwyn am 2 o’r gloch / Conwy kick off 2 pm Dylai cefnogwyr nodi fod y gêm yn 2ail Rownd Cwpan Cymru rhwng Conwy a Phorthmadog, ar y Morfa, gychwyn am 2 o’r gloch.
