03/09/10 Golwg ymlaen at ymweliad y Rhyl / Look ahead to the visit of Rhyl Ar gychwyn y tymor doedd neb am edrych ym mhellach na’r Rhyl i fod yn bencampwyr ar ddiwedd y tymor. Ers hynny does yma fawr ddim wedi digwydd i newid y farn honno. Mae’r tîm o dan Greg Strong heb golli gêm ac yn edrych yn dda iawn i gyflawni yr hyn mae pawb wedi rhagweld. Ac er disgyn adran mae’r gefnogaeth iddynt wedi aros yn gryf. Mae John Leah a Gareth Owen, dau chwaraewr profiadol, wedi aros gyda’r clwb ac mae Strong wedi denu mwy o brofiad i’r clwb drwy arwyddo John Toner, cyn flaenwr TNS, a Brad Maylett cyn chwaraewr gyda Burnley ac Abertawe sydd wedi bod allan ac anaf. Mae Port, ar ôl cychwyn addawol yn erbyn y Derwyddon ac am 50 munud yn erbyn Llandudno, heb blesio wrth golli ym Mwcle a bydd angen gwelliant mawr ddydd Sadwrn. Bydd dychweliad y capten Ryan Davies, wedi’i waharddiad am dair gêm, yn codi’r galon a hefyd bydd Dan Pyrs, a chwaraeodd am 20 munud ddydd Sadwrn, bellach ar gael. Ond bydd Geraint Mitchell yn colli’r gêm ar ôl derbyn ail gerdyn ddydd Sadwrn diwethaf. Bydd hon yn gêm anodd iawn ond hefyd yn gyfle i godi gêm a dychwelyd at y gêm basio mae’r rheolwr wedi bod yn ei ddatblygu. Y math a gêm na welwyd golwg ohoni ym Mwcle. When the season started virtually no one was prepared to look any further than Rhyl to win the HG Alliance. Three games into the season and nothing has happened to change that view. The team, under Greg Strong, is unbeaten and looking set to fulfil the predictions. Despite dropping down a division support for the club has remained good. John Leah and Gareth Owen, two experienced midfielders have remained at the club, and Greg Strong has recruited more experience in former TNS forward John Toner, and also former Burnley and Swansea winger Brad Maylett who has been injured. Porthmadog after a promising performance against the Druids and for 50 minutes against Llandudno will not have been pleased with the defeat at Buckley and will need a big improvement. The silver lining is the return of skipper Ryan Davies after a 3 match suspension and that Dan Pyrs, who played for 20 minutes last week, is now available again. Missing on Saturday will be Geraint Mitchell who received an extremely harsh second booking on Saturday. This will be a stern test for Port, but also an opportunity for them to raise their game and show the passing football the manager has been developing but which for some reason completely deserted them at Buckley. 01/09/10 Cwpan her yr Arfordir / NWCFA Challenge Cup Ni dderbyniodd Port, deiliaid Cwpan yr Arfordir yn 2009/10, unrhyw ffafrau pan ddaeth yr enwau o’r het ar gyfer cystadleuaeth 2010/11. Maent yn un o’r wyth clwb a fydd yn chwarae yn y rownd gyntaf wrth iddynt ymweld â’r Oval i wynebu Caernarfon ar ddyddiad i’w drefnu. Hyn yn golygu mai oddi cartref bydd Port mewn tair cystadleuaeth: Cwpan Cymru, Cwpan Huws Gray a Chwpan yr Arfordir. Bydd 12 clwb arall yn mynd yn syth i’r ail rownd, gan gynnwys Llandudno, a gurwyd gan Port yn y ffeinal llynedd. Bydd Llandudno yn ymweld â’r Rhyl.Tynnwyd yr enwau hefyd ar gyfer yr ail rownd a bydd enillwyr y gêm rhwng Caernarfon a Port yn ymweld â Cei Conna neu Bae Colwyn. Despite being the 2009/10 holders of the NWCFA Challenge Cup, Port received no favours when the 2010/11 draw was made. They are one of 8 clubs who will be involved in the first round of the competition when they visit the Oval to meet neighbours Caernarfon, on a date to be arranged. Twelve other clubs have received a bye into the second round, and this includes last season’s runners-up Llandudno who are to visit Rhyl. This draw, following on that of the Welsh Cup and League Cup, mean that Port have been drawn away in all three cup competitions. The draw for the second round has also been made and the winners of the game between Caernarfon and Port will visit either Connah’s Quay or Colwyn Bay. 31/08/10 Porthmadog oddi cartref yng nghwpan Cymru / Porthmadog drawn away in Welsh Cup ![]() Yn y rownd yma mae’r 32 clwb o Gynghrair Huws Gray ac o Adran 1, Cynghrair Cymru y De yn ymuno â’r 48 clwb a ddaeth drwy’r rowndiau cymhwyso. Bydd y 12 clwb o UGC ddim yn ymuno tan Rownd 3. Gwelir y gemau i gyd yn Rownd 1 ar www.faw.org.uk/ Ni ellir gor-bwysleisio pwysigrwydd rhediad da yn y gwpan i glybiau ar y lefel yma gan fod y gwobrau ar gyfer 2010/11 wedi’u cynyddu: Colli yn Rownd 2 (32 clwb) £750 Colli yn Rownd 3 (16 clwb) £1500 Colli yn Rownd 4 (8 clwb ) £2,500 Colli yn Rownd 5 (4 clwb) £6.000 Collwyr cynderfynol £12,500 Collwyr Ffeinal £20,000 Enillwyr £30,000 When the Welsh Cup Round 1 draw took place in the Headquarters of the FAW in Cardiff, today, 31st August, Porthmadog were drawn to visit Spar Mid Wales club Carno on 11 September. The names were drawn by Joe Ledley and Chris Gunter. In this round the thirty-two clubs from the Huw Grays Alliance and the Welsh League Division 1 joined the 48 clubs, who progressed from the Qualifying Round stages. The 12 WPL clubs will not enter until Round 3..The full draw can be seen on www.faw.org.uk/ The importance of a good run for clubs at this level cannot be overestimated, as prize money for the 2010/11 has been increased and will be as follows: Round 2 Losers (32 clubs) £750 Round 3 Losers (16 clubs) £1500 Round 4 Losers (8 clubs) £2,500 Round 5 Losers (4 clubs) £6,000 Losing semi-finalists £12,500 Runners-up £20,000 Winners £30,000 29/08/10 Ariannu’r Academi / Funding the Academy Mae ansicrwydd yn dal ynglyn ac ariannu’r Academi am y tymor sy’n dod. Aneglur ydy’r newyddion sy’n dod o Bencadlys y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed. “Byddwn yn cymryd camau ein hunain i wneud rhywbeth am y sefyllfa. “ meddai Eddie Blackburn, gweinyddwr yr Academi. Y bwriad ar y funud ydy gweithio gyda rhieni ar gynlluniau codi arian a threfnu digwyddiadau cymdeithasol. “Y gobaith ydy trefnu cyfarfod, o bosib ar y 3 Medi 2010. er mwyn trafod y mater gyda rieni ac unrhyw un arall sydd a diddordeb,” ychwanegodd Eddie. Uncertainty remains concerning the financing of the Academy for the season ahead. The news coming out of FAW Headquarters is still unclear. Academy administrator Eddie Blackburn said, “We are hoping to take some proactive steps in this direction.” The plan at the moment is not to sit back and hope but to involve parents in Fund raising and social events. “We hope to arrange a meeting, possibly on Friday 3 September 2010 to discuss this with parents and other interested people,” added Eddie. 26/08/10 Golwg ymlaen at gêm Bwcle / Look ahead to the Buckley game ![]() Mae’n siwr fydd Bwcle yr un mor benderfynol i wneud bywyd yn anodd ddydd Sadwrn. Bydd y ddau glwb yn chwilio am eu buddugoliaeth gyntaf o’r tymor. Colli o drwch blewyn fu hanes y ddau adref yn erbyn Llandudno. Colli wnaeth Bwcle hefyd yn erbyn Cei Conna y ceffylau blaen cynnar. Mae’r rheolwr Gareth Thomas wedi cryfhau carfan a oedd yn agos i’r brig yn y Gynghrair Undebol llynedd. Ymunodd James McIntosh, a fu’n sgoriwr cyson i Airbus dros nifer o flynyddoedd, ac, o ddiddordeb i gefnogwyr Port, mae Gareth Caughter hefyd wedi ymuno a Bwcle. Bu gan Gareth Parry broblemau dros y pythefnos cyntaf gyda nifer o chwaraewyr allan. Bydd sawl un yn ôl y penwythnos yma gan gynnwys Cai Jones a Craig Roberts yn rhydd o waharddiadau a Gareth Owen, Marcus Orlik a Jonathan Sadler hefyd ar gael. Mae gan Ryan Davies un gêm yn weddill ar ei waharddiad ond gyda’r garfan yn dechrau edrych yn fwy sefydlog efallai y cawn weld y chwarae da a welwyd am gyfnodau yn cael ei ddangos dros y 90 munud. The last time we visited Buckley was 19 April 2003 on the memorable day that Port secured promotion back to the WPL. Buckley Town did not make it easy on that occasion and two late goals were needed to secure the 3-2 win. It is unlikely that Buckley will make Saturday’s visit any easier either. Both sides are looking for their first win of the season. Buckley, like Port, suffered a narrow defeat at home to Llandudno and then went down to early high fliers Connah’s Quay. Manager Gareth Thomas has strengthened a side that was amongst the CA front runners last season. He has brought in James McIntosh, a regular scorer for Airbus over a number of seasons, and, of interest to Port supporters, Gareth Caughter a former Traeth regular. Gareth Parry who has had selection problems during the first fortnight of the season sees the return of several players unavailable last weekend. These include Cai Jones and Craig Roberts after suspension and Gareth Owen, Marcus Orlik and Jonathan Sadler who have been unavailable. Ryan Davies has one more game left on his suspension but now, with a more settled look to the squad, maybe we can see the excellent play shown in patches repeated over the 90 minutes. 26/08/10 Sut i gyrraedd cae Bwcle / How to get to the Buckley ground ![]() O’r A55 ymunwch a’r A494 a wedyn ei gadael ar allanfa Ewlo. Ewch i gyfeiriad Bwcle ar y B5127 (Liverpool Road). Arhoswch ar y ffordd hon tan ewch chi heibio Garej Shell / Ewloe Hall Motors sydd ar y dde. Cymrwch y tro nesaf i’r chwith i Globe Way. Ewch heibio dau dy mawr ar y dde ac ewch yn eich blaen am 400 llath. Edrychwch am y ffens werdd a’r goleuadau. Trowch ar y dde i fyny i’r maes parcio neu parciwch ar Globe Way a cherdded i’r cae. Os oes gennych Sat Nav y Côd Post ydy: CH7 3LY. Port have not visited Globe Way, Buckley since 19 April, 2003. Here therefore are directions courtesy of the Buckley Town website. From the A55, you join the A494 and come off at the Ewloe exit. Then head for Buckley on the B5127 (Liverpool Road), stay on it until you pass the Shell Garage / Ewloe Hall Motors on the right. Take the next left into Globe Way. Pass the two large houses on your right, travel about 400 yards and the Ground is just up this road on the right hand side – look out for the green fencing and the floodlights. Turn right into the Car Park and park at the top of the hill overlooking the ground or outside on Globe Way and walk up into the ground. For those using Sat Nav the Postcode is: CH7 3LY. 25/08/10 Ail Dîm yn tynnu allan –swyddogol / Reserves withdrawn -official Bellach mae Porthmadog wedi cadarnhau’n swyddogol yr hyn sydd wedi bod yn anorfod a thynnu’r ail dîm allan o Gynghrair Gwynedd. Mewn datganiad swyddogol â rhyddhawyd heddiw dywedwyd: “Wedi chwilio’n aflwyddiannus am rheolwr newydd i’r Ail Dîm, gorfodwyd cyfarwyddwyr Porthmadog i wneud y penderfyniad i dynnu allan o Gynghrair Gwynedd. Hysbyswyd y gynghrair o’r penderfyniad ddydd Mawrth.” “Mae’n ddiwrnod trist i’r clwb ac i’r chwaraewyr ifanc sydd yn dod drwy’r system,” meddai ysgrifennydd Port, Gerallt Owen. Er hynny nid yw’n fwriad gan y clwb droi cefn ar y chwaraewyr ifanc ac mae swyddogion yn addo mae dros dro, yn unig, fydd hyn. “Rym yn benderfynol i ddod yn ôl tymor nesaf ac yn gobeithio mai mewn cynghrair newydd i Ail Dimau gogledd Cymru fydd hyn gan roi cyfle da i chwaraewyr ifanc lleol ddatblygu.” Porthmadog have now officially confirmed, what has recently appeared inevitable, and withdrawn their reserves from the Gwynedd League. A club statement released today states: “Having carried out a fruitless search for a new Reserve team manager over the past few weeks Porthmadog Directors have been forced to resign from the Gwynedd League. The news was conveyed to the League on Tuesday.” Porthmadog Secretary Gerallt Owen said "It is a sad day for the club and for the young players coming through the system.” The club is not however turning its back on the young players and officials vow that this is a temporary setback. “We are determined to be back next season, hopefully in a new Reserve League for north Wales which would provide good quality football for local young players to develop," Gerallt Owen assured. 24/08/10 Diwedd y daith i’r Ail Dîm –am y tro / End of the road for Reserves –for now Mae’n anorfod bellach y bydd rhaid i’r clwb dynnu allan o Gynghrair Gwynedd. “Mae’n ddiwrnod trist i’r clwb, meddai Phil Jones, “roedd y Bwrdd yn hollol gefnogol i’r Ail Dîm ac wedi gwario £500 mewn insiwriant chwaraewyr a ffioedd cynghrair a chwpan. Byddwn yn colli’r arian yma i gyd rwan gan ein bod y methu dod o hyd rhywun i drefnu’r tîm.” Mae’r swyddogion a Mel Jones, cyfarwyddwr yr academi, wedi ymdrechu i ddod o hyd i berson addas ond heb ddim lwc gan adael y bwrdd heb ddewis ond rhoi gwybod i Gynghrair Gwynedd na fyddant yn medru cystadlu yn y gynghrair eleni. “Am y tymor hwn felly ni fydd cyswllt rhwng yr academi, ar lefel Dan 16, a’r tîm cyntaf,” oedd sylw Gerallt Owen. “Mae’n rhwystredig iawn, ychwanegodd Phil Jones, “gan fod nifer o ail dîm y tymor diwethaf wedi cael lle yn y tîm cyntaf gyda eraill hefyd yn curo ar y drws.” Mae Gerallt wedi nodi maes datblygiad arall fydd yn cael ei heffeithio, “Mae’n debyg na fyddwn â thîm ieuenctid yng Nghwpan Ieuenctid Cymru na Chwpan Ieuenctid y Gogledd chwaith am na fydd gennym ddigon o chwaraewyr, yn yr oed iawn, wedi’u harwyddo.” Felly dyma ganlyniad arall o’r diffyg cynllunio wrth ail strwythuro’r pyramid, gan adael cefnogwyr a chwaraewyr ifanc i obeithio, gyda Gerallt Owen, y cawn “ ... yn ystod y misoedd nesaf ddod o hyd i berson sydd yn barod i wneud y gwaith yn ystod 2011/12. It now seems certain that the club will be forced to withdraw their reserve team from the Gwynedd League. Phil Jones said “It is a sad day for the club; the Board were fully committed to the reserve team having already spent £500 in player insurance and league and cup fees. All that is now lost as we cannot find anyone to run the team.” Club officials and academy director Mel Jones have worked hard to find a suitable candidate but to no avail and the board appear to be left with no choice but to inform the Gwynedd League that the club will not be able to enter a team this season. “For this season there will be no link between the academy structure, up to U16 level, and the first team,” was Gerallt Owen’s comment. “It is particularly frustrating,” added Phil Jones, “as a number of last season’s reserves have broken into the first team and others were knocking on the door.” Gerallt Owen also identified another area of development which would suffer, “We will probably have no youth team in the Welsh Youth Cup and the North Wales Youth Cup as we will not have enough signed players in the right age group.” So we have yet another spin off of the bungled Pyramid restructuring leaving Gerallt Owen to hope along with all Port fans and young players, “ … that in the months ahead we can identify someone who will be willing to take on the role in 2011/12. 23/08/10 Newidiadau i rhaglen yr Academi yn 2010/11 / Changes to the Academy pattern in 2010/11 ![]() Fersiwn o bêl-droed 5 yr ochr ydy Futsal sydd erbyn hyn wedi derbyn sêl bendith FIFA ac UEFA ac yn cael ei chwarae ledled y byd. Mae’n siwr bydd y newid hwn yn cael ei groesawu gan y sawl sy’n gorfod gohirio ac adrefnu gemau ar ôl iddynt gael eu heffeithio gan dywydd gwael! There could be one very interesting change to the usual Academy programme as it has been developed over the last few seasons. The FAW and Welsh Football Trust have both intimated that there will be a mid season break from 11 a side competitions. In December and January an Indoor Futsal Programme will be introduced. Futsal is a version of 5 a side football which is now recognised by both FIFA and UEFA and is now very widely played all over the world. This change will be no doubt be much appreciated by those who have to cancel and rearrange matches which are adversely affected by inclement weather! 22/08/10 Gwobr dda yn Tote mis Awst / Large carry over Prize in August Tote Tote ![]() Draw wythnosol. Dewiswyd 14 o’r prif wefannau gan y newyddiadurwr, Paul Scott, gyda rhai Wrecsam a CPD Porthmadog yn cael eu dewis i gynrychioli pêl-droed yn y gogledd. Ymysg y gwefannau eraill mae rhai awdurdodau lleol fel Gwynedd a Môn, rhai adloniant Venue a Galeri, a gwefan gymharu ariannol Moneysupermarket, (wedi’i lleoli yn Ewlo) a hefyd un y Daily Post ei hun. Disgrifiwyd gwefan Port fel “Gwefan ddwyieithog gan gefnogwyr CPD Porthmadog yn y Cymru Alliance (Huws Gray Alliance plis!). Ceir adroddiadau yn dilyn pob gêm, a gall cefnogwyr hyd yn oed brynu crysau replica ac eitemau eraill cit pêl-droed mewn siop arlein. It was very pleasing to see this site named in a Daily Post review of sites with a north Wales input. “Here we’ve trawled the legions of sites to pick out some of the best on the web with a North Wales slant,” says the Dot Cymru review. Post journalist, Paul Scott, selected 14 top sites with those of Wrexham FC and Porthmadog chosen to represent football in the area. Amongst the other sites are local authority sites like Gwynedd and Anglesey, entertainment sites Venue and Galeri, Ewloe based comparison site Moneysupermarket and the Daily Post itself. The Porthmadog FC site is described as: “A bilingual fans site dedicated to Cymru Alliance (Huws Gray Alliance please!) side Porthmadog FC. Match reports are posted following each game and supporters can even purchase replica shirts and other kit online club shop.” 19/08/10 Golwg ymlaen at ymweliad Llandudno / Look ahead to the Llandudno game ![]() Ond y tro yma fydd Marcus yn un o 5 chwaraewr na fydd ar gael i’r rheolwr Gareth Parry wrth iddo ddewis ei dîm at ddydd Sadwrn. Nid yw Marcus ar gael na Jonathan Sadler, na Dan Pyrs chwaith. Mae Ryan Davies a Craig Roberts yn dal efo gwaharddiadau o dymor diwethaf tra fod Cai Jones hefyd wedi’i wahardd ar ôl derbyn dau gerdyn melyn ddydd Sadwrn. Bydd rhaid i Gareth Parry jyglo dipyn ar ei garfan cyn roi tîm ar y cae ddydd Sadwrn gan fod pedwar o’r chwaraewyr na fydd ar gael yn flaenwyr. Nid y cyflwyniad, y byddai Gareth wedi ddymuno, i sedd y rheolwr. Bydd Llandudno yn dod i’r Traeth ar gefn buddugoliaeth dda iawn yn curo tîm cryf Bwcle diolch i gôl 18 munud o’r diwedd gan Dylan Smith. Bydd angen i Port hefyd gadw golwg ar y blaenwr peryg Lee Thomas ac mae gan y clwb o’r Arfordir chwaraewyr profiadol yn y golwr Paul Whitfield a’r amddiffynnwr canol Craig Hogg. Port’s tough start to the season continues. Following on the visit of fancied Cefn Druids next up at the Traeth are last year’s Alliance 3rd placed club, Llandudno. They are sure to provide Port with another stern test. Like Port, Llandudno have gained an FAW Domestic Licence which underlines their ambition and they will be chasing promotion to the top flight. The last time the two clubs met was in the final of the Coast Cup in May when Port ran out winners by a single Marcus Orlik goal in a close contest. This time round Marcus is one of five players whom manger Gareth Parry will be unable to call upon on Saturday. Marcus is unavailable as are Jonathan Sadler and Dan Pyrs while Ryan Davies and Craig Roberts still have unspent suspensions from last season. Cai Jones is also suspended having been sent off last Saturday after picking up two yellows. The fact that four of the missing players are forwards mean that Gareth Parry will have to juggle his squad and probably play one or two out of position. This is not the introduction to management he would have wished for. Llandudno come to the Traeth on the back of an excellent opening day result beating a strong Buckley Town thanks to a Dylan Smith goal 18 minutes from time. Port will need to keep an eye on dangerous forward Lee Thomas whilst the Coast team also have experienced players in keeper in Paul Whitfield and central defender Craig Hogg in their ranks. 18/08/10 Enwau’r noddwyr newydd yn cael eu cyhoeddi / Club announce new joint main sponsors ![]() Mae gan y ddau gwmni broffil uchel iawn yn yr ardal ar hyn o bryd gyda Balfour, Beatty a’r Brodyr Jones yn adeiladu ffordd osgoi newydd Porthmadog tra fod Rheilffordd Ffestiniog yn cwblhau project mawr Rheilffordd Ucheldir Cymru -dau gynllun enfawr gyda photensial economegol mawr i’r ardal. Dywedodd Gerallt Owen, ysgrifennydd y clwb, “Mae’n bleser gennym gyhoeddi cytundebau efo dau gwmni sydd wedi bod yn hael iawn eu cefnogaeth i’r clwb. Mae’n gytundeb sylweddol ei faint, a’r gobaith yw y fydd y berthynas yn un fendithiol i’r cwmnïau a’r clwb. “ Roedd disgwyl i’r cit adref gael ei arddangos am y tro cyntaf y Sadwrn diwethaf, ar gyfer ymweliad Derwyddon Cefn, ond oherwydd problemau ar y funud olaf bu’n rhaid aros am wythnos tan ymweliad Llandudno. Bydd y newyddion hefyd yn hwb i’n rheolwr newydd, Gareth Parry, sy’n gweithio’n galed i sicrhau llwyddiant ar y cae. ![]() Both companies are very high profile organisations in the Porthmadog area at the present time. Balfour, Beatty and Jones Brothers are building the new Porthmadog by-pass while Ffestiniog Railway are completing the major Welsh Highland Railway project. These are major works with huge economic potential for the area. Club Secretary Gerallt Owen said, “We are pleased to announce our agreements with these companies who have generously supported the club. It is a sizable package and hopefully it will be a productive relationship for all concerned.” The new home kit was due to have been unveiled on Saturday for the match against Cefn Druids, but last minute problems caused the delay. The new kits will be unveiled this Saturday for the visit of Llandudno. The news will also be a major boost for new manager Gareth Parry as he works hard to revive fortunes on the field. 18/08/10 Port yn chwilio am drysorydd newydd / Port look for a new treasurer Mae’r Clwb yn chwilio am drysorydd gwirfoddol newydd yn dilyn ymddeoliad Dafydd Wyn Jones a fu wrth y llyw am 14 mlynedd ac yn gynghorydd a chyfarwyddwr ers 1991. Unwaith eto bydd y grwp Dan 11 yn cystadlu am Darian Tom Yeoman. “Golyga hyn chwarae gemau unwaith y mis ar fore Sadwrn gan gychwyn ar ddiwedd Medi,” meddai Eddie Blackburn, Gweinyddwr yr Academi. Ychwanegodd, “Mae 59 o hogiau wedi arwyddo ar hyn o bryd a disgwyliwn tua 25/30 i ddod i dreialon y grwp Dan 12. Ar gyfer y pedair carfan mae gennym 7 o hyfforddwyr profiadol a chymwys iawn.” “Y siom eleni,” meddai “yn anffodus bu rhaid ffarwelio â Chris Jones sydd wedi penderfynu ymuno â academi Bangor. Byddwn yn gweld colli ei frwdfrydedd ei drefnusrwydd a’i sgiliau hyfforddi. Ac os fydd ganddo awydd i ddychwelyd i Borthmadog bydd yna groeso mawr iddo.” Sunday morning 22 August will see the start of Academy training for the U11, U14, and U16 age group squads and will be held at Clwb Chwaraeon commencing at 10.30 am. Also being held at the same time at Clwb Chwaraeon will be the final trials for the U12 age group. There is a month yet before the U12, U14 and U16 Cup competitions are due to start on 19 September. The U11’s will be once more competing for the Tom Yeoman Shield “This will mean games played once a month on a Saturday mornings and they are due to start at the end of September.” said Academy Administrator, Eddie Blackburn. He added “We have at present got 59 boys signed and are expecting approximately 25 / 30 to arrive for trials with the U12s. For these squads we have a total of 7 very well qualified and experienced coaches.” “On the down side” he said, “unfortunately we have said goodbye to Chris Jones who has decided to join Bangor Academy. His enthusiasm and brilliant organisation and coaching skills will be sorely missed here at Porthmadog and there will always be a welcome for him should he decide to rejoin us.” 15/08/10 Cyfle olaf i achub yr Ail Dîm / Last chance saloon for Reserves “Os oes rhywun allan yna sydd am drefnu’r Ail Dîm hwn fydd y cyfle olaf,” oedd geiriau trist Gerallt Owen ysgrifennydd y clwb mewn erthygl yn y rhaglen ddydd Sadwrn. “Does neb wedi dod ymlaen er waethaf apêl yn y wasg, ar y wefan ac mewn trafodaethau gyda nifer o unigolion. “Os na fydd rhywbeth yn cael ei benderfynu yn ystod y dyddiau nesaf bydd rhaid tynnu allan o Gynghrair Gwynedd gan ein gadael heb ail dîm yn Port ar gyfer tymor 2010/11. “Yn anorfod bydd hyn yn golygu na fydd gennym dîm ieuenctid yn y cystadlaethau lle gawsom gymaint o lwyddiant llynedd,” ychwanegodd Gerallt. Y cefndir i’r sefyllfa yw fod yr FAW wedi penderfynu y dylai ail dimau chware mewn cynghreiriau ail dimau. Penderfynodd CPD Porthmadog ymuno â Phrif Gynghrair Ail Dimau Clwyd a hynny er mwyn rhoi’r cyfle gorau i chwaraewyr ddatblygu. Cafodd y penderfyniad call yma a wnaed am rhesymau pêl-droed ei wrthod yn hwyr iawn gan Bwyllgor Cyswllt Gwynedd a Chlwyd. Er mae’r FAW gwnaeth y penderfyniad gwreiddiol mae’n amlwg na lwyddo’n nhw drosglwyddo’r polisi yn ddigon cadarn i ‘Arglwyddi’r Cynghreiriau Lleol’ a oedd eisoes yn brwydro i gadw neu chynyddu eu cynghrair fach unigol nhw. Daliwyd Porthmadog yng nghanol y tanio bwledi a gallai hyn arwain at golli pont go bwysig rhwng yr academi a’r prif dîm. Gwaethygwyd sefyllfa anodd gan ymddiswyddiad Adrian Jones rheolwr hir dymor yr ail dîm. “If there is anyone out there who wants to run the Reserves then this is the last chance salon,” were the stark words of club secretary, Gerallt Owen, in Saturday’s match programme. “No one has come forward despite appeals in the press, on the website and in discussions with various individuals. “Unless something is sorted in the next few days we will have to withdraw from the Gwynedd League and there will be no Reserve side in Porthmadog for the 2010/11 season. “This will inevitably mean that we will have no youth team in the Youth competitions –a very sad state of affairs considering the success of last season,” added Gerallt. The background is that following the FAW decision to remove reserve teams from the pyramid, Porthmadog FC took a decision, made in the best interests of player development, to join the Clwyd Premier Reserve League. This sensible footballing decision was scuppered at a very late date by the Liaison Committee of the Gwynedd and Clwyd League. Though the FAW passed that reserve teams should play in Reserve Leagues they obviously failed to communicate this decision in strong enough terms to the local area ‘Warlords’ who were already engaged in a battle to preserve or expand their own local area leagues. Porthmadog have been caught up in the crossfire and this sadly could lead to the demise of an important stepping stone between the academy and the senior team. The situation has now been exacerbated by the resignation of Adrian Jones, long term reserve manager. 14/08/10 Diwrnod agoriadol yr Huws Gray / Opening day round-up ![]() One or two shock results on the opening day with champions Llangefni going down 1-0 at home to Ruthin while promoted Rhos Aelwyd got their season off to a flying start beating Flint 2-1 at home.
