Hatric i Josh / Hat Trick for Josh

Josh Davies Pnawn Sadwrn ym Mhenycae sgoriodd Josh Davies deirgwaith –yr ail i wneud hyn y tymor hwn. Mae’n dilyn Iwan Lewis a sgoriodd hatric yn erbyn Dinbych. Cyn y tymor hwn ni fu yr un hatric ers Awst 2011 pan sgoriodd Jamie McDaid dair yn Llangefni.
Am gryn amser edrychai’n debyg na fyddai goliau Josh yn effeithio’r canlyniad ond yn y diwedd y goliau yma a gadwodd Port yn y gêm gan wneud digwyddiadau’r cyfnod ychwanegol yn bosib a hefyd y fuddugoliaeth funud olaf. Mae’r goliau yma yn dod a chyfanswm Josh i 12 yn y 15 gêm gynghrair, sef hanner ffordd drwy’r rhaglen 30 gêm yr Huws Gray.

On Saturday at Penycae Josh Davies became the second Port player to score a hat trick this season. He follows Iwan Lewis who scored three times at Denbigh. Prior to this there had been no Port hat trick since August 2011 when Jamie McDaid scored three at Llangefni.
For much of the game it seemed that Josh’s goals would not affect the final result but in the event he had kept us in the game and made possible the added time thrills and last ditch victory. These goals bring his league tally up to 12 in 15 games –the half way mark in the HGA programme.

Newyddion Tîm /Team News

Bydd nifer o chwaraewyr allweddol yn colli’r gêm yn Penycae yfory.
Meddai Craig Papirnyk, “Byddwn heb Ceri James sydd yfory yn cael triniaeth i symud absis. Bu’n dioddef efo hyn ers dipyn a dymunwn yn dda iddo. Bydd Josh Banks yn methu’r gêm hefyd oherwydd galwadau eraill tra fod Gerwyn yn dal allan ond yn parhau i wella o’i anaf.
“Er waethaf hyn byddwn yn teithio gyda'r hyder fod gennym ddigon o gryfder yn y garfan i ddelio efo’r problemau. Rwy’n edrych am ganlyniad cadarnhaol ac yn disgwyl gwell perfformiad na gafwyd pythefnos yn ôl yn erbyn Rhaeadr. Bu’n rhaid aros am y cyfle i wneud yn iawn am hynny ond gobeithio y wnawn ddydd Sadwrn. Amdani Port!”

Port will be without some key players for the visit to Penycae tomorrow.
Craig Papirnyk says, “We will be without Ceri James who is undergoing an operation to remove an abscess tomorrow morning, something that he has been struggling with for a while and we wish him well with that. Josh Banks is unavailable due to prior commitments while Gerwyn is still injured but is recovering well from his leg break.”
“Even with the above absentees we still travel with confidence and have the strength in depth to cope with players missing. I will be looking to come away with a positive result and I am looking for a much improved performance from our last game two weeks ago at home to Rhayader. We’ve had to wait to put things right but hopefully on Saturday we can. Come On Port!”

Llongyfarchiadau GUY / Congratulations GUY

Llongyfarchiadau i Guy Handscombe, hyfforddwr clwb Porthmadog, ar sicrhau Trwydded ‘A’ UEFA. Roedd Craig Papirnyk yn hapus iawn wrth dderbyn y newyddion a’i sylw oedd, “Mae Guy wedi gweithio’n galed iawn i ennill ei drwydded ac mae’n dangos fod gennym hyfforddwr o safon yn y clwb.”

Congratulations to Port coach Guy Handscombe who has this week been awarded his UEFA ‘A’ Licence. A delighted Craig Papirnyk commented, “He’s worked hard to achieve this and it shows what a top quality coach we have at the club.“

Rhagolwg/ Preview: Penycae.(LL14 2PF)

Penycae v Porthmadog Gyda Conwy yn dal yng Nghwpan Cymru cafodd Port benwythnos heb gêm ond y pnawn Sadwrn yma byddan nhw ym Mhenycae. Heblaw am y gêm honno yng Nghonwy mae hanner cyntaf y tymor wedi’i gwblhau ac mae’r rhestr gemau yn ôl lle y cychwynnodd. Yn y gêm gyntaf o’r tymor curodd Port y clwb o ardal Wrecsam o 4-1 diolch i berfformiad cryf yn yr ail hanner. Ers y gêm honno mae Penycae wedi newid eu rheolwr gyda Nicky Ward, cyn chwaraewr TNS a Bangor, yn cymryd lle Steve Walters. Ar hyn o bryd maent yn yr 11eg safle yn y tabl ac yn hollol glir o safleoedd y tri gwaelod. Yn ei gêm ddiwethaf yn Llandrindod 1-1 oedd y sgôr terfynol.
Bydd Port ar ôl methu ennill yn ei dwy gêm ddiwethaf yn edrych am ganlyniad mae eu perfformiadau yn haeddu. Mewn cynghrair gystadleuol gall Port yn y 5ed safle ar hyn o bryd gryfhau eu sialens am y brig. Bydd pnawn Sadwrn hefyd yn gyfle i wneud yn iawn am y cweir a gafwyd llynedd ar Gae Afoneitha. Yn ei sylwadau yn y rhaglen mae Craig Papirnyk yn dweud am bresenoldeb achlysurol Ceri James y tymor hwn fod “... angen i addasu pan fod Ceri James ddim ar gael,” yn allweddol i lwyddiant Port. Mae’n dweud am Ceri, “Mae Ceri yn trefnu gan wneud y pethau anodd edrych yn hawdd .... mae yn ffigwr pwysig i’r ffordd ‘da ni’n chwarae.” Ond bydd y gêm hon yn gyfle arall i’r garfan dalentog mae Craig yn adeiladu i brofi eu gallu. Amdani Port.

Having had a weekend off due to Conwy’s Welsh Cup commitments, Port now return to League action on Saturday. That Conwy game apart the first half of the season has now been completed and the fixture list returns to where it started. In the season opener at the Traeth Port defeated Penycae by 4-1 thanks to a strong second half performance. Since that game the Wrexham area club have seen a change of manager with former TNS and Bangor midfielder, Nicky Ward replacing Steve Walters. Currently they are in 11th place in the table and well clear of the relegation places. In their last league outing Penycae drew 1-1 at Llandrindod.
Port after something of a hiccup over recent games will be looking to match performances with results again. In 5th place, they are well placed to mount a strong challenge at the top of a competitive league table. Saturday will also be an opportunity to wipe out the memory of the heavy defeat on the last visit to Afoneitha Road. Craig in his ‘View from the Bench’, concerning the irregular presence of Ceri James due to work commitments, describes as key to Port success “... the need to adjust when Ceri is not available.” Craig pays Ceri James a great compliment saying of him, “Ceri organises and makes difficult things look easy ....he has become an important figure in the system we play.” But this is a talented young squad that Craig Papirnyk is building and Saturday will be another opportunity to prove it. C’mon Port.

Cofio Arwel / Passing of Arwel Jones

Gyda thristwch, derbyniwyd y newyddion am farwolaeth Arwel Jones yn Ysbyty Alltwen, Tremadog ar ddydd Mawrth, 25 Tachwedd. Roedd Arwel yn gyn chwaraewr i Port ac yn aelod o dîm hynod llwyddiannus y 1950au a enillodd Gwpan Amatur Cymru ddwywaith, un o gyfnodau euraidd y clwb. Yn wreiddiol o Harlech, roedd Arwel dros nifer o flynyddoedd wedi ymgartrefu ym Mlaenau Ffestiniog lle bu tan ei ymddeoliad yn bennaeth ar Ysgol y Moelwyn. Bu hefyd yn gweinidogaethu gyda’r Bedyddwyr Albanaidd a chynrychiolodd Blaenau ar Gyngor Gwynedd gan gynnwys cyfnod yn Gadeirydd y Cyngor. Estynnwn gydymdeimlad â’i wraig Elsi. Coffa da am amddiffynnwr cadarn.

The news of the death of Arwel Jones on Tuesday, 25 November at Alltwen Hospital, Tremadog was received with sadness by all at Porthmadog FC. Arwel was a former Port player and will be remembered as part of the celebrated and highly successful Welsh Amateur Cup winning team of the 1950s, a golden period in the history of the club. Originally from Harlech, he had lived for a number of years at Blaenau Ffestiniog where he had been Headteacher at Ysgol y Moelwyn. He was also a Baptist minister and represented Blaenau Ffestiniog on the Gwynedd Council, including serving as Chairman of Council. As a club, we extend our sympathy to his wife Elsi. His passing brings back memories of a remarkable era of Porthmadog football.

O’r Rhaglen / From the Match Programme

“... fy nghar i ydy’r unig un yn Carshalton efo sticer Porthmadog... “ dyna ddywed Chris Blanchard mewn cyfraniad diddorol ‘Supporting from Afar’ yn y rhaglen at bnawn Sadwrn diwethaf. Mae Chris a’i wraig Sue hefyd yn noddi yr amddiffynnwr Gerwyn Jones ac ar eu hymweliadau haf â’r ardal yn llwyddo i weld un o gemau cyn dymor Port.
Mae Chris yn gefnogwr brwd o bêl-droed ar y lefel lled broffesiynol ac yn ysgrifennydd clwb Carshalton sy’n chwarae yn Adran Un o Gynghrair Ryman. Dan ddylanwad Dylan Rees fe ddaeth yn gefnogwr Port ac mae’n dweud, “Rwy’n derbyn yr holl rhaglenni cartref ac yn dilyn y digwyddiadau ar y wefan a’r Cambrian News." Mae’n dda gweld fod y neges am Porthmadog wedi cyrraedd cyn belled a Surrey!
Yn y rhaglen hefyd cewch gyfle i gyfarfod rhai o’n cefnogwyr yn y ‘Fans Focus’ eitem newydd lle mae dau o selogion Y Traeth sef Tudor Owen a Treflyn Jones yn barod wedi ymddangos.

“.... mine is the only car in Carshalton with a Porthmadog car sticker ...” says Chris Blanchard in his interesting contribution ‘Supporting from Afar’ in last Saturday’s match programme. Chris and his wife Sue also sponsor defender Gerwyn Jones and on summer visits to the area fit in a Port pre-season game.
Chris is a committed non-league supporter and secretary of Carshalton Athletic who play in Division One of the Ryman League. Under the influence of Dylan Rees he became a Port supporter and says, “I receive all the home programmes and follow events on the web and in the Cambrian News.” Great to read that the Porthmadog message has reached as far as Surrey!
A new programme feature is the ‘Fans Focus’, a chance to meet some of our supporters. The supporters featured so far are Traeth regulars Tudor Owen and Treflyn Jones.

Newyddion da i Gerwyn / Good news for Gerwyn

Mae’r newyddion am Gerwyn Jones yn dipyn fwy addawol na ofnwyd yn y cychwyn. Bu Gerwyn ddigon anffodus i dorri ei goes 25 munud i fewn i’w gêm gyntaf dros Port wedi iddo drosglwyddo o CPD Y Rhyl.
Meddai Craig Papirnyk heddiw, “Mae Gerwyn wedi derbyn newyddion da ar ôl iddo ymweld a’r clinig yn ystod yr wythnos. Clywodd fod y cast yn dod ffwrdd ynghynt na’r disgwyl ac heddiw mae wedi’i dynnu! Mae hyn dair wythnos ynghynt na’r hyn oeddem i gyd yn disgwyl.
“Golyga hyn bydd y cyfnod adfer yn llawer cynt. Bydd hi’n fis Ionawr cyn iddo chwarae mewn gêm ond bydd yn ail gydio yn yr ymarfer cyn ’Dolig a wedyn penderfynwn sut i fynd ymlaen o fanna. Newyddion gwych i Gerwyn ac i’r clwb."

There is some encouraging news concerning central defender Gerwyn Jones who had the great misfortune to fracture his tibia 25 minutes into his debut game following his transfer from Rhyl FC.
Manager Craig Papirnyk said today, “I've got some good news regarding Gerwyn, he visited the fracture clinic earlier in the week and they've decided his cast can come off earlier, so today he's had it removed! This is 3 weeks earlier than we expected!
“This means his recovery time will be a lot quicker now. We are looking at January before he plays games again but he will resume training before Christmas and we will take it from there. Great news for Gerwyn and the club.”

Rhagolwg / Preview: Rhaeadr

Rhaeadr / Rhayader Rhaeadr fydd yn ymweld â’r Traeth pnawn Sadwrn gyda Port, ar ôl colli dwy o’u tair gêm ddiwethaf, yn edrych i adfer y cysondeb sydd wedi bod yn nodwedd o’u chwarae y tymor hwn. Clybiau â steil uniongyrchol a chorfforol ydy Buckley a’r Wyddgrug a hyn yn ogystal a’r cae trwm yn Bwcle a rhwystrodd Port i chwarae ei gêm arferol. Y tro diwethaf ar Y Traeth cafwyd perfformiad ardderchog yn erbyn Caergybi ,yn rheoli’r gêm o’r dechrau i’r diwedd a hyn fydd Craig yn mynnu ei gael unwaith eto pnawn Sadwrn.
Y tro diwethaf i Rhaeadr ymweld â’r Traeth cafwyd perfformiad cadarn iawn gan dîm Dylan McPhee i sicrhau gêm gyfartal. Cafodd y tîm o’r canolbarth gychwyn da i’r tymor hwn ond bellach heb fuddugoliaeth yn eu chwe gêm ddiwethaf. Eu buddugoliaeth ddiwethaf oedd o 4-1 dros Llanidloes ym mis Medi. Er hynny, agos iawn fu nifer o’u canlyniadau ac mae un o rhain yn sefyll allan, sef y gêm gyfartal 3-3 yn erbyn Llandudno. Mae’r ffaith eu bod wedi sgorio tair gôl yn erbyn amddiffyn Llandudno a oedd ond wedi gadael ond wyth gôl i fewn yn flaenorol yn cadarnhau na fedrwch ei cymryd yn ysgafn. Mae Rhys Thomas yn flaenwr profiadol sydd wedi bod yn fygythiad i amddiffyn Port yn y gorffennol ac mae Tom Rowlands, ei prif sgoriwr y tymor yma, wedi rhwydo wyth gôl hyd yma.
Cefnogwch yr hogiau pnawn Sadwrn.

Rhayader Town will be the visitors to the Traeth on Saturday when Port, after two defeats in the last three games, will be looking to regain the consistency which has been a feature of their play all season. The defeats have come against clubs that have adopted an ‘up and at ’em’ approach and this together with the heavy ground at Buckley seemed to upset the usual rhythm of the team. Last time out at the Traeth, Port gave an excellent controlled performance to outplay Holyhead and no doubt Craig will be demanding a similar performance on Saturday.
The last time Rhayader visited the Traeth a battling performance from Dylan McPhee’s team earned them a 1-1 draw. The mid-Wales club had a good start to the present season but have slipped recently not recording a win in their last six games. Their last victory was on 16 September, a 4-1 win over Llanidloes. Many of their games however have been tight affairs and the 3-3 with Llandudno is a stand out result. The fact that they scored three goals against a Llandudno defence that had previously only conceded eight goals serves as a timely reminder that here is another club that cannot be taken lightly. Rhys Thomas is an experienced striker who has proved a threat to the Port defence on previous occasions and their current leading scorer is Tom Rowlands who has netted eight times to date.
Show your support on Saturday.

Josh yn taro Deg / Double figures for Josh

Josh Davies - CPD Porthmadog Longyfarchiadau Josh Davies a sgoriodd o’r smotyn pnawn Sadwrn,(gweler lluniau) ei ddegfed gôl o’r tymor. Er fod ei gôl wedi arwain at bwysau trwm ar gôl Bwcle ni ddaeth y goliau i’n gwthio’n agosach at Llandudno. Ond mae ei goliau y tymor hwn wedi bod yn gyfraniad sylweddol mewn tymor o berfformiadau cadarnhaol . Daeth naw o’i goliau mewn gemau cynghrair a’r llall mewn gêm yng Nghwpan y gynghrair. Pa un oedd y gôl orau? Wel beth am yr ergyd bwerus o 16 llath i orffen symudiad da iawn yn erbyn Dinbych? Dal ati Josh gyda dros hanner y tymor yn weddill mae ugain gôl yn targed realistig.

Congratulations to Josh Davies, whose goal from the penalty spot (see photos) at Buckley means that he has reached double figures for the season. His goal sparked a fight back but the goals, that would have pushed us closer to Llandudno, would not come. His ten goals are an excellent contribution in what has been a very positive season. Nine of his goals have come in league matches and one in the League Cup. Which was the best of the ten? What about the one Josh scored against former club Denbigh Town, the culmination of a great Port move and was a finish struck with great power from 16 yards? Keep it up Josh we are not yet at the half way mark and a 20 goal tally is definitely a realistic target.

Newyddion Academi / Academy Latest

Perfformiad da eto i’r tîm Academi Dan 14 yn curo Academi Y Drenewydd heddiw. Canmoliaeth mawr i’r hogiau sydd wedi sicrhau buddugoliaethau dros dair Academy o Uwch Gynghrair Cymru rhai, yn wahanol i Port, sydd yn cael eu ariannu’n hael gan y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed.
Llongyfarchiadau hefyd i’r Drenewydd a enillodd Dan-12 a Dan-14. Mwy o fanylion ar wefan yr Academy.

The Academy U-14s continued their excellent run of performances with a good win today over the Newtown Academy. It is a great credit to this squad of players that they have already recorded wins over three WPL Academies that, unlike Port, are generously funded by the FAW. Well done lads.
Well done also to Newtown who were winners at U-12 and U-16. Further details on Academy website.

Cynghrair Chwarae’n Deg /Fair Play League

Port sydd ar ben tabl Chwarae’n Deg yr HGA hyd at ddiwedd Hydref. Hyd at y dyddiad hwnnw yn yr Huws Gray ni dderbyniwyd unrhyw gerdyn coch a dim ond saith rhybudd a cerdyn melyn. Hyn yn rhoi 28 pwynt iddynt. Llandudno sydd yn ail ac yr unig glwb arall heb dderbyn cerdyn coch. Mae Llandudno wedi derbyn 12 rhybudd.

The FAW Fair Play League table for the HGA is now out to the end of October showing that Porthmadog top the table. They have received no red cards in the HGA and only seven cautionary yellow cards which gives them 28 points. Llandudno are the only other club not to receive any red cards and they are the second placed club with 12 cautions.

Tommie ac OTJ / Tommie and OTJ

Gwrandewch ar gyfweliad ardderchog arall gan Tommie Collins, unwaith eto ar Sound Cloud. Y tro yma mae o’n sgwrsio gyda Owain Tudur Jones mewn trafodaeth eang sy’n mynd ac Owain o'r cychwyn yn bymtheg oed gyda Viv ac Osian ar Y Traeth, drwy ei gyfnod fel chwaraewr proffesiynol ifanc llawn amser gyda Abertawe. Mae’n edrych yn ôl ar ei amser gyda Chymru o dan John Toshack ac yn pwyso a mesur gobeithion y garfan bresennol. Mae anafiadau wedi effeithio ei yrfa ond, ar hyn o bryd mae gyda Falkirk yn yr Alban, ac unwaith eto yn ceisio dychwelyd o anaf arall! Tiwniwch i fewn gyda Tommie i wrando ar farn chwaraewr sy’n gallu mynegi ei feddyliau am y gêm yn rhugl iawn.

You can listen to another great interview from Tommie Collins, once again on Sound Cloud. This time he chats with Owain Tudur Jones in a wide ranging interview which takes Owain from his beginnings as a 15 year old at Porthmadog with Viv and Osian, through his time at Bangor and on to full time professional football with Swansea City. He looks back at his time with Wales under John Toshack and weighs up the chances of the current squad. Injury has had an adverse effect on his career but he is currently playing in Scotland and true to form injured again. Tune in with Tommie its well worth listening to the views of an articulate, thoughtful professional footballer.

Rhagolwg: Bwcle / Preview: Buckley Town

Bwcle / Buckley Town v Porthmadog Bydd Port yn teithio i Fwcle pnawn Sadwrn ar gefn perfformiad da a buddugoliaeth glir dros Gaergybi, clwb a oedd heb golli yn eu chwe gêm gynghrair ddiweddaraf. Mae hyn y tonig iawn ar ôl colli yn erbyn Y Wyddgrug, a gyda perfformiad garfan gyfan yn sicrhau’r fuddugoliaeth mae’n siwr o gynyddu’r gystadleuaeth am lefydd yn y tîm cychwynnol.
Dros y pedwar tymor diwethaf mae Port heb ennill yr un gêm yn erbyn Bwcle, yn colli chwech a dwy yn gyfartal. Gyda Bwcle yn y 5ed safle a dau bwynt tu ôl i Port, byddai pnawn Sadwrn yn amser da i orffen y rhediad gwael yn erbyn y clwb o Sir Fflint. Ond mae gan Bwcle record diguro ar y Globe Way, yn ennill pump gyda un yn gyfartal. Cofiwn y gêm gyfartal llynedd am gôl wych Eilir Edwards yn canfod y rhwyd o ymyl chwith y cae. Os fyddwch yn teithio dydd Sadwrn y Côd Post ydy CH7 2LL

Porthmadog travel to Buckley on Saturday, having bounced back from the defeat against Mold Alex with an excellent all-round team performance to record a convincing victory against the Hotspurs, a team who were on an unbeaten run of 6 league matches. The excellent squad performance further increases the competition for places in the starting line-up.
Buckley Town could well claim to be Port’s bogey team. Over the past four seasons, Port have been unable to record a single victory over them. Buckley have won six of the games and two have been drawn games. With our opponents in 5th place in the table and two points separating the two clubs, Saturday would be a good time to end a bleak series of results. Buckley are yet to be beaten on their Globe Way Ground winning five and drawing one of their games. Last season’s drawn game at Globe Way is best remembered for Eilir Edwards’ great strike from wide on the left touchline. If you intend travelling on Saturday the Post Code is CH7 2LL.

Diolch Barry / Thanks Barry

Mae pawb sy’n gysylltiedig â CPD Porthmadog am ddiolch i Barry Edwards sydd, ar gost ei hun a hynny dros nifer o flynyddoedd, wedi cymryd cyfrifoldeb am osod torch wrth y Gofeb ar Sul y Cofio ar rhan y clwb. Trwy hyn sicrhaodd fod y clwb yn cael ei le ymysg y cymdeithasau lleol sy’n gwneud hyn yn flynyddol.
Mae’n arbennig o addas wrth i’r wlad gofio yn 2014, canrif ers gychwyn y Rhyfel Byd cyntaf, fod CPD Porthmadog wedi bod yn rhan o’r deyrnged arbennig i’r rhai hynny a gollodd eu bywydau. Fe gofiwch y bu Barry am gyfnod yn ffisio’r clwb, gan drin anafiadau ar y cae.

All connected with Porthmadog Football Club would like to express their thanks to Barry Edwards, who has, over a period of many years, at his own expense taken responsibility for ensuring that the club is represented amongst the local organisations who place a wreath of poppies at the War Memorial in the town on Remembrance Sunday.
It is especially appropriate on the Centenary of the commencement of the First World War that he has once again made sure that Porthmadog FC was part of the special tribute to those who lost their lives. Supporters will recall that Barry has carried out physio duties for the club, treating on field injuries.

Mae’r Ymddiriedolaeth Bêl-droed wedi cyhoeddi fod yna ffurflenni ar gael i wneud cais am grant i wella caeau, a gellir eu llawr lwytho o wefan yr Ymddiriedolaeth.

Newid dyddiad / Fixture change

Bydd yna newid i ddyddiad y gêm Gynghrair HGA rhwng Conwy a Porthmadog, a oedd i’w chwarae ar Y Morfa ar bnawn Sadwrn 29 Tachwedd. Ar ôl curo Dinbych pnawn Sadwrn diwethaf bydd Conwy yn chwarae Llansawel neu Aberdâr yn Rownd 3 o Gwpan Cymru ar y dyddiad hwnnw. Cewch glywed am y dyddiad newydd unwaith fydd o ar gael.

The HGA league fixture scheduled for Saturday, 29 November between Conwy Borough and Porthmadog at the Morfa will now be subject to change. Conwy, who defeated Denbigh Town, on Saturday, will now play Briton Ferry or Aberdare Town on that weekend in Round 3 of the Welsh Cup. The new date will appear on the website once it is known.

Newyddion Academi / Academy News

Roedd y tair carfan heddiw draw yn Cei Conna i chwarae Academi llwyddiannus y clwb hwnnw . Unwaith eto cafodd y garfan dalentog Dan-14 fuddugoliaeth dda iawn tra y clwb lleol oedd yn enillwyr cyfforddus yn y gemau Dan-12 a Dan 16. Bydd manylion pellach yn ymddangos ar wefan yr Academi.

The three Academy squads were in action today, away at the very strong Connah’s Quay Academy. Again this week there was an excellent win for the talented U-14 squad while the Nomads were comfortable winners at U-12 and U-16 level. Further detail will appear on the Academy website.

Record Tomi / Tomi’s Record

Tommi Morgan - CPD Porthmadog FC Cydymdeimlwn yn fawr efo’n cyfeillion yn CPD Y Rhyl wedi’r digwyddiad anffodus iawn ar y Belle Vue. Mae’r tân a gwnaeth llawer o niwed i’w ystafelloedd newid yn golygu fod y gêm yn erbyn Caerfyrddin wedi’i gohirio gyda’r posibilrwydd o fwy o gemau i ddilyn, hyn tan y bydd y trwsio’n cael ei gwblhau. Mae’n ddigwyddiad siomedig iawn i’r clwb ar ôl gwario ar welliannau sylweddol i’r ystafelloedd newid.
Golyga’r gohirio na fydd Mark Aizlewood yn 55 oed ac un mis ac wyth niwrnod yn chwarae i Gaerfyrddin ac yn sefydlu record newydd –am y tro beth bynnag.,br> Bydd record Tomi Morgan, y chwaraewr hynaf yn UGC , yn aros am ychydig fwy o amser. Gwnaeth Tomi ei ymddangosiad olaf yn eilydd i Port yn erbyn Airbus Brychdyn ar Sadwrn, 10 Ebrill 2010 pan oedd yn 53 oed 7mis ac 8 niwrnod. Ar y Trydar ychwanegodd Cai Jones mai fo oedd yr un a adawodd y cae pan ddaeth Tomi ymlaen. Am y gêm ei hun Port aeth a hi o 2-1 gyda Chris Jones yn sgorio’r ddwy i Port a Carl Owen (Ie!) yn sgorio i Airbus.

We feel for our friends at Rhyl FC after the very unfortunate fire incident they have suffered at the Belle Vue Ground. The damage to the dressing room area now means that their game against Carmarthen Town has had to be postponed with the possibility of further games suffering the same fate before repairs can be undertaken. It is extremely disappointing for the Rhyl club after spending on extensive improvements to the changing rooms.
It also means that Mark Aizlewood will not now make a WPL appearance for Carmarthen Town at the age of 55 years, one month and eight days.
Tomi Morgan’s record, as the oldest player to appear in a WPL game, will remain -for the moment at least. Tomi made a substitute appearance for Porthmadog against Airbus UK Broughton on Saturday, 10 April 2010 at the age of 53 years 7 months and 7 days. As Cai Jones pointed out on Twitter he was the player replaced by Tomi. As to the game itself Port won by 2-1 with Chris Jones scoring both goals with the Airbus goal was scored by Carl Owen!

Rhagolwg Caergybi / Preview Holyhead

Porthmadog v Caergybi / Holyhead Hotspur Caergybi sy’n ymweld â’r Traeth pnawn Sadwrn, yn yr unig gêm HGA yn cymryd lle y penwythnos hwn. Byddai tri phwynt i Port o’r gêm hon yn mynd a nhw yn ôl i’r ail safle yn y tabl, ond nid tasg hawdd fydd hynny. Daw’r Hotspyrs i’r Traeth yn dilyn buddugoliaeth dda yn Ninbych, a nhw hefyd ydy’r unig glwb hyd yma i guro Llandudno yn y gynghrair eleni. Bydd angen i Port anghofio am y canlyniad siomedig wythnos ddiwethaf a hefyd dod dros y siom o golli Gerwyn Jones wedi iddo dorri ei goes yn ei gêm gyntaf dros Port.
Bydd y gêm pnawn Sadwrn yn dipyn o aduniad gyda Campbell Harrison rheolwr Caergybi, cyn rheolwr Port Gareth Parry a’r hyfforddwr Merfyn Williams i gyd yn ymweld a’u hen glwb. Bydd y garfan hefyd yn cynnwys cyn chwaraewyr Port; Rhys Roberts, Gareth Jones Evans a Phil Williams. Y tymor diwethaf Port enillodd y gêm gyfatebol ar Y Traeth tra cyfartal oedd hi yn y gêm ar Ynys Môn. Dewch i gefnogi’r hogiau.

Holyhead Hotspurs will be the visitors to the Traeth on Saturday in the only HGA game taking place this weekend. Three points on Saturday and Port will move back to second place in the table but that will not be an easy task. The Hotspurs come to the Traeth on the back of a good win at Denbigh and they are the only club to take three points off league leaders Llandudno so far this season. Port will need to get quickly over last weekend’s disappointing defeat and also the disappointment of losing new signing Gerwyn Jones with a broken tibia.
The game will be something of a reunion with Hotspurs’ manager Campbell Harrison, former Port manager and player Gareth Parry and coach Merfyn Williams all now with Holyhead. The squad will also include former Port players Rhys Roberts, Gareth Jones Evans and Phil Williams. Last season Port won the corresponding game at the Traeth while the game in Anglesey ended in a draw. Support the lads back to winning ways.

Hanes un Tymor / A season’s story

Os brynoch chi gopi o’r rhaglen pnawn Sadwrn diwethaf ac wedyn ei roi o’r neilltu heb wneud rhyw sylw mawr ohono –cymrwch olwg arall arno, mae gwledd yn eich aros. Os nad oes gennych gopi mynnwch un os fedrwch chi. Mae Gerallt Owen, hanesydd y clwb ac ysgrifennydd o dan bwysau, wedi cael golwg yn ôl ar hanes tymor 1902/03. Wedi’i ymchwilio a’i ysgrifennu’n ardderchog mae’n cymryd golwg ar dymor cyntaf Porthmadog neu ‘Porthmadoc’ yng Nghynghrair Arfordir Gogledd Cymru, tymor cyntaf lle lwyddodd y clwb ennill y bencampwriaeth.
Darllenwch am Moseley Jones, sgoriwr rheolaidd a seren ei gyfnod, am y brwydrau gyda’r cymdogion Caernarfon ac am ‘ddulliau amheus’ Bangor. Mae’r gyfres ‘bob hyn a hyn’ yn werth ‘i ddarllen. Byddai’n dda meddwl fod y seiliau yn cael eu gosod ar gyfer hanes swyddogol y clwb gan yr un awdur – dyna fyddai llyfr inni edrych ymlaen ato.

If you bought a copy of last Saturday’s match programme and have just given it a cursory glance then get it out again quick, for a treat awaits you. If you haven’t a copy, then try to get your hands on one. Club historian and, overworked club secretary Gerallt Owen, has taken a look back at story of season 1902/03. Excellently researched and written, it takes a look back at a first season for Porthmadog or Porthmadoc in the North Wales Coast League, a debut season which turned out to be a championship winning one.
Read of the Traeth stars of the era like the free scoring Moseley Jones, of the tussles with rivals Caernarfon and the ‘shady methods’ of Bangor. This ‘occasional’ series provides a great read. The foundations are hopefully being laid for an official club history by the same author –now that would be something to look forward to.

Anaf i Gerwyn Jones yn ei gêm gyntaf / Gerwyn Jones injured on debut

Gerwyn Jones - CPD Porthmadog FCHeddiw daeth y newyddion drwg fod Gerwyn Jones wedi torri asgwrn yn ei goes yn y gêm yn erbyn yr Wyddgrug dydd Sadwrn. Doedd yr anaf heb edrych mor ddrwg yn wreiddiol - cerddodd Gerwyn oddi ar y maes gyda chymorth - ond wedi ymweliad â'r ysbyty, daeth i'r amlwg ei fod wedi torri asgwrn y tibia. Yn anffodus dim ond 25 munud barhaodd ei gêm gyntaf i Port ac mae bellach yn wynebu o leiaf 10 wythnos allan o'r gêm. Ar ran y chwaraewyr a phawb yn y clwb dymunwn wellhad buan iddo. Meddai Craig Papirnyk heddiw:
“Mae’r newyddion yn siomedig i Gerwyn ei hun ac i’r clwb. Bydd mewn plastr rwan am 6 wythnos. Mae’n ergyd drom wedi iddo greu argraff dda iawn wrth ymarfer ac yn y munudau a chwaraeodd cyn derbyn yr anaf. Fe ddaw yn ôl yn gryfach."

Bad news, as the full extent of Gerwyn Jones' injury during his debut match has become apparent. Gerwyn limped off injured after 25 minutes but the injury didn't seem too drastic at the time. Unfortunately, after a visit to the hospital, it is now clear that he has broken the tibia bone in his leg. It seems likely that he will now be forced to spend at least 10 weeks on the side-lines. We wish him a speedy recovery on behalf of the players and all at the club. Craig Papirnyk said this morning:
"The news is disappointing for both Gerwyn and the club. H e will now be in plaster for 6 weeks. This is a huge blow for him and us as he's really impressed in training and looked good in the opening minutes of the game Saturday before picking up the injury. He'll come back stronger.”
