Newyddion Chwaraewyr / Player News.
Cyhoeddodd y rheolwr, Viv Williams, ei fod wedi symud i gryfhau yr amddiffyn trwy i Emrys Williams gytuno i ymuno a'r clwb. Bu Emrys yn chwarae i Port yn ystod eu cyfnod yng Nghyngrhair Cymru cyn symud i chwarae, yn gyntaf i Gaernarfon ac wedyn Dinas Bangor, cyn dychwelyd i'r Oval y llynedd. Mae yn amddiffynwr cadarn, yn dda yn yr awyr ac yn beryg' wrth ymosod o giciau cornel a chiciau rhydd. Fe ddylai brofi yn gyffaeliad wrth geisio ad-ennill lle yng Nghyngrhair Cymru. Ar hyn o bryd, nid yw Emrys yn holliach ond mae'n disgwyl bod yn barod ar gyfer dechrau'r tymor.
Yr unig un arall sydd wedi arwyddo yn bendant, ar hyn o bryd, ydy un arall sy'n dychwelyd i'r clwb sef Richard Harvey yn dilyn cyfnodau gyda Threffynnon a hefyd Bae Cemaes. Roedd ei berfformiad yn erbyn Sheffield Wednesday yn awgrymu y bydd o hefyd yn helpu i roi ychydig fwy o gadernid yn yr amddiffyn. Ymddangosodd Richard Owen( Dinas Bangor ) a Gareth Parry (Llanfairpwll) mewn nifer o gemau cyfeillgar gyda'r posiblrwydd o arwyddo cyn ddechrau'r tymor. Dywed Viv: 'Rwy'n argyhoeddiedig fod angen carfan sylweddol os ydym i roi sialens am y teitl.'
Ail arwyddwyd y mwafrif o garfan y llynedd ond deallir bod Neil Roberts wedi arwyddo i Glantraeth sydd wedi ail -sefydlu ac yn mynd i chwarae yn y Welsh Aliance y tymor hwn.Newyddion arall yw fod Carl Owen yn mynd i'r ysbyty i gael triniaeth ar ei lygad ond mae'n disgwyl colli gem neu ddwy a bydd yn barod erbyn cychwyn y gemau yn y Gyngrhair Undebol.

Manager Viv Williams has made a significant move to strengthen his defence with the news that experienced defender Emrys Williams has agreed to join the club. Emrys had a spell with Port in their League of Wales days before moving to Caernarfon and later to Bangor, then returning to the Cofis last season. He is a powerful defender, good in the air and dangerous at set pieces and should prove a valuable acquisition in the quest to regain League of Wales status. At present, Emrys is on the injured list but is hoping to be fit for the start of the season.
The other definite signing is Richard Harvey -another returnee- following spells with Holywell Town and Cemaes Bay. Judging by his excellent performance against Sheffield Wednesday, he will also significantly strengthen the defence. Richard Owen ( Bangor City) and Gareth Parry Llanfairpwll ) have appeared in several pre-season fixtures with a view to signing. Viv has said in his programme notes, 'I remain convinced that we need a sizeable squad if we are to mount a challenge'.
Most of last season's squad have been re-signed though it appears that Neil Roberts has joined the revived Glantraeth in the Welsh Alliance. Other news is that Carl Owen will undergo a minor eye operation and will miss a couple of pre-season games but anticipates being ready for the start of the Cymru Alliance season.

Trydydd Tim / Third Team.
Er fod yr ail dim wedi ennill dyrchafiad i Gyngrhair Gwynedd, bydd Port yn dal i gynnal tim yng Nghyngrhair Caernarfon a'r Cylch.Y tymor nesaf bydd trydydd tim gan y clwb ac yn chwarae ei gemau adref ar gae y Clwb Chwaraeon y drws nesaf i'r Traeth. Y bwriad ydy rhoi profiad i chwaraewyr ifanc, gan bontio rhwng y tim ieuenctid a'r ail dim. Bydd yna ddau clwb arall hefyd yn ymuno a Chyngrair Caernarfon am y tro cyntaf y tymor nesaf, sef Trefor a Thregarth.

Despite the fact that the reserves have gained promotion to the Gwynedd League, Port will still maintain a team in the Caernarfon and District League. Next season a third team will play their home matches at the Clwb Chwaraeon, next door to the Traeth. It is hoped that the new team will bridge the gap between youth and reserve team football. Two other teams will make their debuts in the Caernarfon and District Leage next season - Trefor and Tregarth.

Cyfarfod Blyynyddol / AGM.
Cynhaliwyd Cyfarfod Blynyddol y Cymru Alliance neithiwr, a bu trafodaeth fywiog wrth i gynnig Porthmadog i gyhoeddi rhestr gemau ar gyfer y tymor cyfan gael ei drechu gan 'casting vote' y Cadeirydd. Roedd hyn, ar ôl canlyniad cyfartal 8 pleidlais yr un, gyda dau glwb yn ymatal. Dilynwyd hyn gyda ymddiswyddiad yr ysgrifennydd gemau Phil Pritchard, ond er cynigion gan glybiau, penderfynwyd y byddai'r hawl i ddewis olynydd yn parhau yn nwylo'r pwyllgor rheoli. Y gobaith yw y bydd deilydd newydd y swydd yn paratoi rhestr ar gyfer y tymor cyfan beth bynnag.
Cafodd Wyddgrug ag Amlwch eu derbyn i mewn i'r gynghrair i gymryd lle Dinbych a Brymbo Brychdyn fydd yn disgyn i'r cynghreiriau is ﷓ bydd sefyllfa’r Trallwng yn cael ei setlo ar ddiwedd yr wythnos, felly bydd y Trallwng neu Rhaeadr yn gwneud y nifer o aelodau yn 18.
Bydd y gynghrair yn dechrau ar Awst 17 - bydd y rhestr gemau yn dilyn ar y safle hwn, mor fuan ag y byddant yn ein cyrraedd.

In an entertaining Cymru Alliance AGM last night, Porthmadog's motion to get the fixtures prepared for the whole season was defeated on the casting vote of the Chairman following an 8-8 tie among members with two clubs abstaining. League fixture Secretary Phil Pritchard then resigned, but despite proposals by clubs it was decided that the management Committee has the responsibility to choose the replacement. Hope is that the new incumbent will provide a full fixture list anyway.
Mold and Amlwch accepted into league with Denbigh and Brymbo Broughton relegated - the Welshpool situation to be sorted out on Friday so Welshpool or Rhayader would make up the 18th club.
League to start on August 17th - fixtures will follow on the site as soon as we get them.

Gem Gyfeillgar / Pre-Season Friendly.
Bydd yn dda gan y cefnogwyr ddeall fod Port wedi sicrhau gem gyfeillgar ddeniadol yn erbyn Wrecsam ar Orffennaf 17eg ar y Traeth. Cofir y gem ardderchog a welwyd dau dymor yn ol pan ddenwyd dros 300 o gefnogwyr i'r Traeth.

Supporters will be delighted with the news that the club have arranged an attractive pre-season fixture against Wrexham at the Traeth on July 17th. Many will re-call the fine standard of football played in a similar fixture two seasons ago when a crowd in excess of 300 was attracted to the Traeth.

Yn ystod gwyliau'r haf bydd y clwb yn trefnu cwrs hyfforddi pel-droed i blant dan 12 oed. Yr hyfforddwyr fydd Cai Williams a Mike Foster. Cysyllter gyda Cai am fwy o wybodaeth.

Llwyddiant i'r Ail-Dim / Reserves Complete a Treble.
Yn dilyn sicrhau dyrchafiad i Gyngrhair Gwynedd gorffenodd ail dim Port y tymor ar nodyn uchel iawn. Cipiwyd Cwpan Ffilmiau'r Nant gyda buddugoliaeth dros Nantlle Fel o 2-1 diolch i gol hwyr gan Peter Emmanuel. Ynghynt yn y gem, daeth Matthew Hughes a hwy yn gyfartal ar ol i Dan Pyrs roi'r Fel ar y blaen.
Aethant ymlaen i ennill Cwpan Undeb y Gweithwyr Trafnidiaeth a Chyffredinol, am yr ail dymor yn olynnol, gyda buddugoliaeth glir dros Mynydd Llandegai o 3-0. Y sgorwyr oedd Matthew Hughes(43,85 munud) ac Emyr Jones(85 munud0. Llongyfarchiadau i'r rheolwr John Williams a'i garfan o chwaraewyr ar dymor gwirioneddol dda.

Having secured promotion to the Gwynedd League, Port Reserves ended the season on a high note. They captured the Ffilmiau'r Nant Cup by defeating Nantlle Vale by 2-1 thanks to a last-gasp goal by Peter Emmanuel. Earlier Matthew Hughes had brought them level after Dan Pyrs had put Vale ahead.
They then went on to complete a notable treble taking the Transport and General Workers Cup, for the second year running, with a clear cut 3-0 victory over Mynydd Llandegai. Goals came from Mathew Hughes(43, 85 mins) and Emyr Jones(63 mins). Congratulations to manager John Williams and his team, on what has been a remarkable season.

Ffeinal Cwpan Iau Gogledd Cymru - North Wales Junior Cup Final

Porthmadog Res ......... 1 Bethel ...............3

Bethel aeth a hi yn y ffeinal a chwaraewyd ar yr Oval yng Nghaernarfon.
Y prif wahaniaeth rhwng y ddau dim oedd fod Bethel wedi cymryd eu cyfleon. Daeth dwy o goliau Bethel yn dilyn camgymeriadau, un fel canlyniad i gic gol wael gan golgeidwad Port, Darren Peters a Bethel yn manteisio gan sgorio o 35 llath ac un arall yn dilyn camgymeriad gan amddiffynwr Port, Barry Griffiths yn colli'r bel tu allan i'w gwrt ac Edwards yn mynd ymlaen i sgorio.
Irfon Hughes gafodd gol gysur i Port. Heblaw am hyn, yr agosaf y daethant i sgorio oedd pan drawodd Adrian Jones y trawst. Cafodd Matthew Hughes nifer o gyfleon ond roedd yn amlwg ei fod wedi anghofio ei sgidiau sgorio adre'.

Bethel won the Junior Cup in the final played at the Oval Caernarfon. The main difference between the two sides was that Bethel took their chances while Port squandered theirs. Two of the Bethel goals were a direct result of errors by Port. One came following a poor goal kick by Darren Peters which resulted in a shot which found the net from 35 yds.and another where Edwards capitalised on Barry Griffiths error just outside his area.
Irfon Hughes scored Port's only goal but it was a case of too little too late. Apart from this, the nearest they came to scoring was when Adrian Jones struck the bar. A number of chances came Matthew Hughes' way but he had evidently left his shooting boots at home on this occasion.

Ail dim yn ennill dyrchafiad. / Reserves secure promotion.
Gyda'r fuddugoliaeth o 3-1 yn erbyn Llanystumdwy, cyflawnodd yr ail-dim yr hyn mae ei chwarae dawnus wedi bygwth drwy gydol y tymor. Ie -ail-dim Porthmadog ydy pencampwyr Cyngrhair Heritage Homes Caernarfon a'r Cylch. Sicrhawyd y bencampwraieth yn dilyn y fuddugoliaeth yn erbyn Llanystumdwy, diolch i dair gol mewn cyfnod o 12 munud yn ystod hanner cyntaf y gem ar Y Traeth. Sgoriwyd dwy o'r goliau gan Matthew Hughes ar ol 33 a wedyn 45 munud, a rhyngddynt sgoriodd Barry Griffiths o'r smotyn.
Bu yn dymor arbennig, i'r chwaraewyr ifanc, yn ennill y bencampwriaeth gan golli ond un gem gyngrhair ar hyd y daith. Maent wedi sgorio dros gant o goliau cyngrhair gyda chyfartaledd o bron 5 gol y gem. Aeth Emyr Jones, y prif sgoriwr, heibio'r hanner cant o goliau am y tymor a hynny er ei fod wedi colli y gemau olaf yn dilyn anaf yn erbyn y prif wrthwynebwyr -Bermo.
Y tymor nesaf, bydd yr hogiau ifanc yn cael eu cyfle yn Nghyngrhair Gwynedd. Y gobaith yw y bydd chwarae ar lefel uwch yn sicrhau fod cyflenwad go lew o chawraewyr ifanc, lleol yn datblygu ymhellach, ac yn profi eu hun yn y Gyngrhair Undebol a maes o law yng Nghyngrhair Cymru.
Llongyfarchiadau i rheolwr yr ail-dim, John Williams, a'i sgwad o chwaraewyr ar dymor cofiadwy.

The reserves duly secured promotion as they have have been threatening to do all season. By virtue of their 3-1 victory over Llanystumdwy, they sealed the champions' spot in the Heritage Homes Caernarfon and District League. The win, on the night, was achieved thanks to three goals in twelve mins during the first-half. Matthew Hughes scored twice after 33 and 45 mins and in between came a Barry Griffiths penalty.
This has been a remarkable season for the youngsters losing only one league match throughout, and scoring over a 100 league goals, at an amazing average of almost 5 goals a game. Leading scorer Emyr Jones is now well past the 50 goal mark despite missing the latter part of the season due to an injury sustained in a T&GWU Cup semi-final against Barmouth.
This season, an agreement existed not to call-up reserve team players for first-team duty so as to ensure that the goal of promotion was achieved. The reserves will play next season in the Gwynedd League and it is to be hoped that playing at a higher level will secure the long term aim of ensuring the development of a supply of young players moving from the second team to play for the first team at Cymru Alliance level and looking to the future -the League of Wales.
Congratulations to reserve team manager John Williams and his squad of players for a highly successful season.

Steve Pugh - Chwaraewr y Flwyddyn / Player of the Year.
Cafodd Steven Pugh ei bleidleisio yn chwaraewr y flwyddyn gan y cefnogwyr yn ystod gem gartref olaf y clwb yn erbyn Buckley. Roedd y gystadleuaeth yn un agos iawn, gyda 8 chwaraewr yn derbyn cyfran o'r pleidleisiau. Dyma oedd ei wobr am un o'i dymhorau gorau ers ymuno a'r clwb, wrth iddo setlo i'w safle ar yr asgell. Adeiladodd ar ei berfformiadau da tymor 2000/01, gan osgoi'r anafiadau a dorodd ar ei dymor flwyddyn yn ol.

Steven Pugh was voted player of the year by the supporters during the last home match of the Season against Buckley. The compertition was very close, with 8 players receiving a share of the votes. This was Pugh's reward for one of his best seasons since joining the club, as he settled into his possition on the wing. Pugh built on the impresive form of the 2000/01 season, and avoided the injuries that had cut his season a year ago.

Chwaraewyr Newydd / New Players.
Y chwaraewr diweddaraf i gael ei arwyddo i garfan Port yw Iwan Roberts, Myfyriwr 20 oed ym Mhrifysgol Bangor. Mae wedi ennill capiau gyda tim ieuenctid Cymru. Cafodd ei gêm gyntaf i Port yn erbyn Rhuthun, ddydd Sadwrn. Dau chwaraewr arall sydd hefyd wedi ymddangos yn ddiweddar i Port yw Jason Jones a John Gwynfor Jones a arwyddwyd o Nefyn United.

The most recent player to sign up to the Port squad is Iwan Roberts, a 20-year-old student at Bangor University, and a former Welsh youth cap. He had his first appearance for Port against Ruthin, on Saturday. Two other players to have appeared recently for Port are Jason Jones and John Gwynfor Jones, both signed from Nefyn United.
1/4/02
Ffarwel Martin / Farewell Martin.
Oherwydd galwadau gwaith, bu'n rhaid i'r amddiffynwr, Martin Jones, adael y clwb yn ddiweddar. Martin oedd dewis y cefnogwyr fel chwaraewr y flwyddyn tymor 2000-01. Bydd yn golled fawr oherwydd ei ymroddiad cant y cant a'i frwdfrydedd dros yr achos. Ni fedr fyth gyhuddo Martin o fod yn ddistaw ar y cae, gyda'i bresenoldeb a'i ysbryd yn gorfodi'r gweddill i ddal ati. Pob dymuniad da Martin, a diolch oddi wrth y cefnogwyr.

Due to work commitments, Port defender, Martin Jones, has been forced to leave the club. Martin was the supporters choice as player of the season for 2000-01. His hundred percent commitment and enthusiasm for the cause will be sorely missed. Martin could never be accused of being a quiet man on the feild, with his presence and spirit ensuring the rest of the team gave their all. Best wishes to Martin in the future, and thanks from all the supporters.

Dad-lwytho chwaraewyr / Players off-loaded.
Mae Viv Williams wedi penderfynu dad-lwytho nifer o chwaraewyr costus o ardal Lerpwl, gan ddatgan yn ei nodiadau yn y rhaglen nad oeddynt "wedi perfformio i'r disgwyliadau". Aeth canlyniadau o ddrwg i waeth yn ystod eu cyfnod gyda'r clwb. Bydd Port yn canolbwyntio o hyn ymlaen ar chwaraewyr lleol, gyda Jason Jones a John Gwynfor Jones yn cael eu harwyddo o glwb Nefyn. Ymunodd Jon-Jo Dann a chlwb Burscough o brif adran yr Unibond, gan godi cwestiwn ynglyn a safonau cymharol y Cymru Alliance a'r Unibond. Chwaraewyr eraill i adael y clwb yw Chris Short, Greg Price, Patrick Johnson, Lee Cox a'r brodyr Fisher.

Viv Williams has decided to off-load many of the expensive players from the Liverpool area, stating in his programme notes that some "didn't perform up to expectations." Results went from bad to worse during their time at the club. Port will now concentrate on local players, with Jason Jones and John Gwynfor Jones being signed from Nefyn United. Jon-Jo Dann joined Unibond Premier club Burscough United, thereby raising questions regarding the comparative standards of the Cymru Alliance and the Unibond. Other players to leave are Chris Short, Greg Price, Patrick Johnson, Lee Cox and the Fisher brothers.

Cawlach Trefn y Gemau / Fixture Chaos
Disgrifiodd y rheolwr, Viv Williams, drefn y gemau presennol fel un llawn rhwystredigaeth. Gyda'r clwb yn wynebu yr ail Sadwrn yn olynnol heb gem, cyfaddefodd na fedrai wneud dim yn ei gylch. Bu'r clwb mewn cysylltiad a swyddogion y Cymru Alliance er mwyn ceisio ad-drefnu gemau ond gwrthodwyd y cais. Dywedodd yr ysgrifennydd ei fod wedi trafod y sefyllfa gyda'r ysgrifennydd gemau, Phil Pritchard, ond eu teimlad oedd fod y mater yn rhy gymlheth i newid. H-m-m -ymateb sydd yn dweud llawer am y ffordd anfoddhaol mae'r rhestr gemau yn cael ei benderfynu yn y Gyngrhair hon!
Dywedodd Viv Williams, "Mae gan Port bymtheg gem ar ol i chwarae dros gyfnod o tua wyth wythnos, a mae'n siwr fydd gennym sawl gem bellenig yn cychwyn am chwarter wedi chwech." Yn dal yn fyw yn ei go', maen siwr, oedd ymweliad a Brymbo dau dymor yn ol pan bu'n rhaid i Port, oherwydd problemau gadael gwaith, gychwyn efo ond saith chwaraewr a'r gem hefyd yn gorffen yn y tywyllwch! Nid dyma'r ffordd,yn sicr, i setlo dyrchafiad i Gyngrhair Cymru.
Ymatebodd swyddogion y Gyngrhair gan ddweud na ddylai Port wynebu unrhyw broblem wrth gwblhau ei gemau gan fod ganddynt lifoleuadau. Felly mae'n siwr fydd yr ysgrifennydd gemau yn sicrhau fod clybiau heb oleuadau yn chwarae adre' ar b'nawn Sadwrn a gemau canol wythnos yn cael eu trefnu o dan y llifoleuadau. Na -llawer rhy gymlheth! Allan o'r dair gem nesaf sydd wedi eu trefnu bydd Port yn chwarae dwy adre ar b'nawn Sadwrn! Ie fe welwn i chi yn y tywyllwch yn Brymbo!

Manager Viv Williams described the present fixture situation as frustrating. With the club facing the second successive blank Saturday, he said, "There is nothing we can do about it." The club asked Cymru Alliance officials to re-arrange fixtures so that this problem would not occur but they were turned down. League secretary Selwyn Williams stated that he had discussed the matter with fixture secretary, Phil Pritchard, but they felt it was too complicated to make any changes.H-m-m -a response which tells us much about the unsatisfactory way in which fixtures in this league are arranged.
Viv Williams said, "Port now have 15 matches to play over a period of about eight weeks, and I can see us having a a few long distance 6-15 p.m. starts which are not going to be easy or welcome." He was obviously remembering a visit to Brymbo two seasons ago where, because of work committments, Port had to play for the first 15 mins with only seven players, and the match ended in darkness! This is surely not the way to decide promotion issues to the League of Wales.
League officials responded, to this potential situation, by stating that the club should not encounter any difficulties in completing their fixtures as they have floodlights. One would have, therefore, anticipated that officials would ensure that Saturday fixtures would involve clubs without lights playing at home and allowing those with floodlights to use them during midweek. That also is probably too complicated -for two out of the three of the latest batch of fixtures will involve Port playing at home on a Saturday.Once again it will be a case of see you in the dark at Brymbo in mid April!
