Ffeinal Cwpan Cymru
The Welsh Cup Final

Saesneg / English

Mae Derwyddon Cefn, o Gynghrair Huws Gray, yn ffeinal Cwpan Cymru –llwyddiant mawr i glwb hynaf Cymru. Yn y ffeinal, Y Seintiau Newydd fydd eu gwrthwynebwyr. Ar eu ffordd i’r ffeinal mae’r Derwyddon eisoes wedi curo tri o’r ‘12 Disglair’ honedig,. Llai na disglair efallai!

Yn Rownd 4 curwyd Prestatyn 2-0 yng Ngerddi Bastion ac yn rownd yr 8 olaf, oddi cartref eto, curwyd Aberystwyth, ac wedyn ar gae niwtral rhoddwyd cweir go iawn i Airbus o 4-1. Cyn hyn i gyd, yn Rownd 3 cawsant fuddugoliaeth o 2-1 yng Nghei Conna yn dilyn buddugoliaethau cartref yn erbyn Caernarfon 6-1 a Coedpoeth 8-0. Nid taith hawdd i gyrraedd y ffeinal felly. Pob clod i’r Derwyddon wrth iddynt fyw breuddwyd pob clwb sy’n cystadlu yn y gwpan o flwyddyn i flwyddyn.

Bydd pawb yn yr HGA yn dymuno’n dda iddynt yn y ffeinal a dyna ichi hwb i’r gynghrair fyddai buddugoliaeth i’r Derwyddon yn y ffeinal, stori tylwyth teg i’w gymharu â Sunderland yn ennill Cwpan Lloegr yn yr 1970au. Ond yr hyn sydd heb ei drafod ydy fod y Derwyddon yn siŵr o’u lle yn Ewrop. Sicrhaodd TNS eu lle yng Nghynghrair y Pencampwyr drwy guro Bangor ddydd Sadwrn. Felly bydd y Derwyddon, ennill neu golli, yn sicrhau eu lle yng Nghynghrair Ewropa. Ie ond dim ond os bydd ganddynt Drwydded UEFA a does yna ddim un ganddynt –pa glwb yn ail rheng pêl-droed Cymru byddai wedi ystyried fod angen un?

Os bydd rhaid i’r Derwyddon roi’r gorau i’w lle mewn cystadleuaeth mor fawr, dyna ichi embaras i’r Gymdeithas Bêl-droed Cymru ac i bêl-droed Cymru’n gyffredinol. Byddai hefyd yn golled ariannol anferth i’r Derwyddon. Byddaf yn dilyn y stori hon gyda chryn ddiddordeb.

The Welsh Cup Final

Cefn Druids of the Huws Gray Alliance are finalists in the Welsh Cup – a really amazing achievement for the Ancients. In the final they will meet The New Saints. Druids have already beaten three teams from the so-called ‘Super 12’ on their way to the final. Not so super after all are they!

In round 4 they defeated Prestatyn 2-0 away at Bastion Gardens, in the quarter finals it was away again as they won 1-0 at Aberystwyth and while the semi-final was on neutral ground the victory was more emphatic as Airbus UK were put to the sword 4-1. Even before these three, Druids won 2-1 at Gap Connah’s Quay in Round 3 after earlier home wins again Caernarfon 6-1 in Round 1 and Coedpoeth 8-0 in round two. No one can say that they have got to the final the easy route. All credit to them and they are living the dream of every club who enter the competition year after year.

Everyone in the Huws Gray Alliance will wish them the best in the final and what a boost in the arm for the League would be a Druids win and it would make this a fairy tale run on a par with Sunderland winning the FA Cup in the 1970’s. However what nobody has mentioned is that Druids are also a shoe in for European qualification. The New Saints secured their place in the Champions League with a victory against Bangor on Saturday, therefore Druids as Welsh Cup winners or losing finalists will secure a place in the Europa League. Well yes, but only if they have a UEFA Licence which they do not have – which club in the second tier of Welsh football ever think they need one?

If Druids are forced to give up their place in such a prestigious competition, because of the lack of a licence, what an embarrassment that will be to the FAW and Welsh football. It would also be a massive financial loss to the Druids. I watch this space with interest.
