Yr unig ddau hyfforddwr o glybiau’r gynghrair sydd â thrwydded broffesiynol ydy Andy Cale (TNS) a chyn chwaraewr rhyngwladol Cymru Mark Aizlewood (Caerfyrddin). Mae’r Gymdeithas Bêl-droed wedi neilltuo £100,000 y flwyddyn dros y 4 mlynedd nesaf i wella cymwysterau hyfforddi rheolwyr sy’n gweithio yn UGC.

The only current WPL coaches with the Pro badge are Andy Cale of The New Saints and Carmarthen Town's ex-Wales international Mark Aizlewood. The FAW is providing £100,000 in annual funding, for the next four years, to improve the coaching qualifications of managers working within the WPL.

Cap cyntaf i Owain /Owain wins first cap

Llongyfarchiadau i Owain Tudur Jones, chwaraewr canol cae 23 oed Abertawe, a enillodd ei gap cyntaf i Gymru pan ddaeth ymlaen fel eilydd i dîm John Toshack yn y fuddugoliaeth o 2-0 dros Lwcsembwrg nos Fercher. Dechreuodd ei yrfa yn 16 oed gyda Phorthmadog yn y Cymru Alliance o dan hyfforddiant Osian Roberts a Viv Williams cyn symud i Fangor lle chwaraeodd 80 o gêmau Uwch Gynghrair Cymru i’r clwb gan sgorio 24 gôl. Mae Owain yn dilyn Mark Delaney a Steve Evans, dau chwaraewr arall o UGC a enillodd gapiau i Gymru gan ddangos pwysigrwydd y gynghrair i bêl-droed yng Nghymru.

Congratulations to Owain Tudur Jones, the 23 year old Swansea City midfielder, who won his first Welsh cap when he came on as substitute for John Toshack’s team on Wednesday in the 2-0 victory over Luxembourg. He started his career as a 16 year old with Porthmadog in the Cymru Alliance and was coached by Osian Roberts and Viv Williams before joining Bangor where he made 80 WPL appearances scoring 24 goals. Owain follows Mark Delaney and Steve Evans, two other players who illustrated the importance of the WPL to Welsh football and who also went on to be capped as full internationals

Dyddiad newydd i Caernarfon v Cefni / New date for Caernarfon v Cefni

Mae Caernarfon, Llangefni a swyddogion y gynghrair wedi cytuno ar ddyddiad newydd ar gyfer y gêm rhwng y ddau glwb. Bydd y gêm yn cael ei chwarae ar yr Oval ar nos Fercher, 15 Ebrill. Mae’r wefan yn deall erbyn hyn nad oedd gan swyddogion y gynghrair unrhyw ran yn y trefniant gwreiddiol rhwng Caernarfon a Llangefni. Unwaith roedd y gynghrair yn ymwybodol o’r sefyllfa, maent wedi gweithredu i sicrhau dyddiad newydd er mwyn i’r gêm gael ei chwarae ar yr Oval.

A new date has now been agreed by Caernarfon, Llangefni and league officials so that the rearranged fixture between the two clubs can be played at the Oval on Wednesday, April 15th. The website now fully understands that league officials played no part in the original arrangement reached between Caernarfon and Llangefni. Once league officials were aware of the situation, they moved to find another suitable date for the game to be played at the Oval.

Neges wrth Roly Evans / A message from Roly Evans

Roedd cefnogwyr Port, sydd yn dal i gofio ‘Oes Aur Pêl-droed Porthmadog’ yn yr 1960au, wedi’u plesio’n arw i weld Roly Evans, un o chwaraewyr y cyfnod arbennig hwnnw ar y Traeth, ymysg y cefnogwyr a aeth i’r Belle Vue ar Lun y Pasg i wylio Port yn chwarae yn erbyn Y Rhyl. Ers y gêm, derbyniwyd y neges hon oddi wrth Roly ac mae ei farn am y gêm yn ddiddorol iawn:
“Er gwaetha’r canlyniad, roedd cael gwylio Port wedi duw a wŷr faint o flynyddoedd, yn wych. Roedd yn codi hiraeth gyda lliwiau’r tîm yn dwyn bob math o atgofion a chysylltiadau imi. Roedd Port yn haeddu gwell na’r canlyniad o 1-0. Yn yr ail hanner yn enwedig, os byddai Carl Owen wedi cymryd y cyfle gorau a ddaeth, medrai fod wedi ei hennill i Port. Fase chi ddim wedi meddwl fod y ddau dîm un bob pen i’r tabl. Roedd gan Rhyl ychydig o fantais yn creu fwy o beryg o flaen y gôl.......... Cyfarchion a phob lwc” Roly

Port supporters, who recall the ‘Golden age of Porthmadog football’ in the 1960’s, were delighted to meet up with Roly Evans at the Belle Vue, Rhyl on Easter Monday. The former Port player of that era was a more than interested spectator at the match between Rhyl and Porthmadog. Since the game, we have received the following message from Roly and his views on the game make interesting reading:
“Despite the result, for me to see Port play after god knows how long was great. It was also very nostalgic with the team colours stirring all kinds of memories and affinity for me. Port deserved better than the 1-0 result. 2nd half in particular, if Carl Owen had taken the best chance it could have won it for Port. You would not have thought the teams were at opposite ends of the table. Rhyl just had an edge when it came to danger in front of goal................regards and good luck” Roly.

Diweddaraf am Cefni v Caernarfon / Cefni v Caernarfon latest

Phil JonesWedi i’r newyddion dorri am y trefniant rhwng Caernarfon a Llangefni i symud y gêm rhyngddynt o’r Oval i gae Llangefni ar Ffordd Talwrn, ymatebodd Phil Jones, cadeirydd CPD Porthmadog yn syth gan gysylltu gyda swyddogion y gynghrair. Nid yw bellach yn debygol y bydd y fath drefniant rhyfedd yn cael sêl bendith yr awdurdodau.

Porthmadog FC Chairman, Phil Jones, moved quickly to contact WPL officials once the news of the arrangement reached by Caernarfon and Llangefni to switch their April 2nd fixture from the Oval to Cefni’s ground at Talwrn Road became known. From this discussion, we gather that it now appears very unlikely that such a bizarre arrangement will meet the approval of league officials.

Gwobr Raffl i fynd i Ysbyty Gwynedd / Raffle Prize goes to Ysbyty Gwynedd

Bellach mae un o’r gwobrau yn Raffl Wanwyn CPD Porthmadog, a dynnwyd yn y Ganolfan ar 21 Mawrth, wedi’i roi i Ward Dewi yn Ysbyty Gwynedd. Enillwyr lwcus y wobr oedd yr efeilliaid o Lan Ffestiniog Callum a Calfyn Roberts. Ond mae’r hogiau wedi penderfynu, fel arwydd o werthfawrogiad am y gofal eithriadol a gawsant yn yr ysbyty pan oeddent yn fabanod wedi’u geni cyn amser, i fynd heb y pleser o fwyta ŵy Pasg enfawr 10 pwys gyda gwerth o £100! Gwell oedd gan Callum a Calfyn ddweud diolch mawr wrth staff y ward.

One of the prizes drawn in the Porthmadog FC, Spring Raffle, drawn on Friday, March 21st at the Ganolfan, has been donated to Ward Dewi, the children’s ward at Ysbyty Gwynedd. Twin brothers Callum and Calfyn Roberts of Llan Ffestiniog were the lucky winners. But in recognition of the wonderful care they received as premature born babies at the hospital, the boys decided to forgo the pleasures of eating a massive 10lb Easter egg worth £100. Instead they gave it as a big thank you to the staff of the ward.

Llangefni i gael gêm adref ychwanegol? / Llangefni to get extra home game?

Cae Bob ParryMae’r gêm rhwng Caernarfon a Llangefni, oedd i fod i gael ei chwarae ar yr Oval, wedi’i symud i Gae Bob Parry, Llangefni ar nos Fercher, Ebrill 2ail. Y reswm am hyn ydy anallu Caernarfon i chwarae gêmau o dan lif oleuadau. Ond gallai’r penderfyniad i roi mantais o gêm ychwanegol adref i Langefni gael canlyniadau pellgyrhaeddol.
Barn y Wefan:
Nid oes posib cyfiawnhau y fath drefniant gan fod Llangefni a Chaernarfon ynghanol y frwydr i osgoi y cwymp i’r Cymru Alliance. Gallai canlyniad y gêm gael effaith wael ar siawns Port a Chaersws i osgoi mynd i lawr. Beth oedd i rwystro’r gêm gael ei chwarae ar yr Ofal ar Llun y Pasg? Wedi’r cyfan gorfodwyd Port i chwarae Y Rhyl ar y dyddiad hwn.
Galwn ar swyddogion y gynghrair i ystyried newid gêmau eraill er mwyn i’r gêm hon gael ei chwarae ar yr Oval yng ngolau dydd. Mae adrefnu gêmau wedi digwydd nifer o weithiau yn y gorffennol.

The game between Caernarfon and Llangefni, due to be played at the Oval, has been rearranged and will now be played at Cae Bob Parry the home of Llangefni, on Wednesday evening, April 2nd.This has come about because Caernarfon are unable to play matches under floodlights at the Oval. The decision gives Llangefni an extra home game and is one that could have far reaching consequences.
Website opinion:
This decision cannot be justified since both Caernarfon and Llangefni are heavily engaged in a relegation battle. The decision could have an adverse effect on the chances of Port and Caersws avoiding the big drop. Why was it not possible to play the game on Easter Monday afternoon? After all Port were forced to play their game against Rhyl on that date.
We call on league officials to consider a change of fixtures to enable the game to be played in daylight at the Oval. Games have often been rearranged in the past.

Aled yn cyrraedd 150 / Aled plays 150th game

Aled RowlandsLlongyfarchiadau i Aled Rowlands. Cyrhaeddodd chwaraewr canol cae Port y nod o chwarae 150 gêm yn UGC pan ddechreuodd yn erbyn Llanelli ddydd Sadwrn. Gwnaeth cyn chwaraewr ieuenctid Manchester City, a chwaraeodd hefyd i Sligo Rovers yng Nghynghrair Iwerddon, 118 (+15) ymddangosiad i Fangor rhwng 1999 a 2004, ac er gwaethaf anaf tymor hir, mae wedi dechrau 32(+13) gêm i Port rhwng 2004 a’r presennol.

Congratulations to Aled Rowlands. Saturday’s game against Llanelli marked the Port midfielder’s 150th WPL start. The former Manchester city trainee who also played for Sligo Rovers in the League of Ireland made 118 (+15) starts for Bangor City between 1999 and 2004 and despite a long term injury has started 32 ( + 13) games for Port between 2004 and the present.

Newidiadau ar y gorwel i'r Uwchgynghrair? / Changes afoot for the Welsh Premier?

John DeakinHeddiw cyhoeddodd John Deakin, ysgrifennydd y gynghrair, gynlluniau i ad-drefnu Uwchgynghrair Cymru. Yn ôl y cynlluniau newydd, byddai'r gynghrair yn rhannu'n ddwy adran o 10 tîm gyda gemau 'play-offs' diwedd tymor i benderfynu dyrchafiad/mynd lawr. Un awgrym, sy'n siwr o fod yn ddadleuol yw y bydda timau'r adran uchaf yn cael eu penderfynu nid yn unig yn ôl eu perfformiadau ar y cae ond hefyd yn ôl safon eu maes.
Bydd pleidlais ar argymhellion Deakin yn cael eu trafod mewn cyfarfod ar Ebrill 13eg yng Nghroesoswallt - cartref TNS. Yn eironig, fe allai'r cynigion olygu fod y pencampwyr presennol yn gorffen yn yr 2il adran gan nad oes eisteddle parhaol ar gae TNS, Park Hall. O ran Port, byddai gorffen yn y 10 uchaf blwyddyn nesaf - er mwyn sicrhau lle yn yr adran uchaf - yn dipyn o gamp; ond o edrych ar yr ochr orau galli brwydr am ddyrchafiad o'r 2il adran godi diddordeb y cefnogwyr ar y Traeth.
Yn gyntaf bydd rhaid brwydro am ein safle yn y gynghrair eleni! Bydd Viv siwr o fod yn ddiolchgar o glywed mai dim ond gêm gyfartal 0-0 a gafodd Lido Afan heno yn erbyn Cambrian & Clydach. Golyga hyn fod yr 2il safle yng Nghynghrair y De o fewn cyrraedd Bryntirion Athletic a Goytre United sydd ill-dau â gemau mewn llaw dros Lido.

League secretary John Deakin has today announced plans to re-organise the Welsh Premier league. According to his new plans, the league would split into two divisions consisting of 10 teams each, with end of season play-offs deciding promotion and relegation. One controversial suggestion is that the teams in the top-flight would not just be selected based on results - selection would also be based on ground standards.
Deakin's proposals will go to the vote in a meeting on April 13th at TNS's Oswestry home. Ironically, the proposals could mean relegation to the 2nd division for the current league champions as there isn't a permanent stand at TNS's Park Hall ground. Finishing in the top 10 next season - in order to quality for the top flight - would seem to be a tall order for Port; looking on the bright side, a battle for promotion from the 2nd division might increase interest among fans at y Traeth.
We will firstly have to battle for our position in the league this year! Viv will surely be relieved to hear that Afan Lido only managed a 0-0 draw against Cambrian & Clydach tonight. This means that 2nd place in the Welsh League South is within reach for Bryntirion Athletic and Goytre United who both have games in hand over Lido.

Rhagolwg: Gemau’r Pasg / Preview: Easter games.

LlanelliGyda angen dybryd am bwyntiau, ni allai Port wynebu dwy gêm anoddach dros y Pasg. Dydd Sadwrn y gwrthwynebwyr fydd y clwb ar ben y tabl sef Llanelli ac yn benderfynol o beidio ail adrodd y golled o 2-1 a gafwyd yn y gêm ar Barc Stebonheath. Yn syth, mae’r gêm honno allan o’r ffordd, rhaid ymweld â’r Belle Vue ar Lun y Pasg i chwarae’r tîm sy’n drydydd yn y tabl. Byddai’n rhaid i unrhyw sylwebydd diduedd gyfaddef mai colli bydd hanes tebygol Port ar y ddau achlysur.
Efallai byddai’r sylwebyddion diduedd yn synnu gwybod fod Peter Nicholas yn ystyried Port yn dipyn o fwgan i Lanelli. Yn ogystal â’r golled ym mis Tachwedd, llwyddodd Port i guro Llanelli yng Nghwpan y BBC y tymor diwethaf diolch i gôl hwyr gan Ryan Davies. Dilynwyd hyn gyda gêm gyfartal yn y cynghrair. Ond os ydy Port am wneud marc y tro hwn, bydd rhaid iddynt fynd ati o’r chwiban gyntaf. Gadawyd goliau ‘blêr’ i mewn yn erbyn Port Talbot gan adael mynydd i’w ddringo. Er eu bod wedi dod yn ôl i’r gêm a bron sicrhau pwynt fel y gwnaethpwyd yn erbyn Airbus, ni allant ddisgwyl gwneud hyn yn erbyn Llanelli na’r Rhyl.
Mae ymosodwyr fel Rhys Griffiths a Lee Hunt yn siŵr o gymryd mantais o bob chwarae blêr ac yr un fath Marc Lloyd Williams. Os ydym am aros i fyny, mae’n bryd sicrhau canlyniad sy’n rhoi sioc.
Ymwelwch â safle Coral i roi bet ar Porthmadog v Llanelli

StebonheathWith points urgently needed, Port could hardly face two more difficult games over the Easter weekend with WPL leaders Llanelli coming to town on Saturday. They will be determined not to suffer a repeat of the 2-1 defeat which Port inflicted on them at Stebonheath. Then, once that game is out of the way, the next fixture is a visit to Belle Vue to take on 3rd placed Rhyl on Easter Monday. Any impartial observer would have to say, looking at the table, that two defeats are staring Port in the face.
Those same impartial observers might be surprised to know that Llanelli manager, Peter Nicholas considers Port one of his bogy sides! Apart from that game in November, Port pulled off another win over Llanelli in the Premier Cup last season thanks to a late Ryan Davies winner. They followed that with a creditable draw in the league. But if they are to do anything this time round, they need to perform from the first whistle. They conceded what the manager described as ‘sloppy goals’ against Port Talbot leaving themselves a mountain to climb. It is to their credit that they almost repeated the late point gained against Airbus but they cannot expect to go two or three goals down against the quality of Llanelli and Rhyl and then expect to come back.
Strikers like Rhys Griffiths and Lee Hunt will take advantage of any sloppy play and so will Marc Lloyd Williams. If we are to survive, we need to produce a shock result.

Lido Afan yn ail / Lido in promotion spot

Afan LidoYn dilyn eu buddugoliaeth o 4-0 dros Bontypridd nos Fawrth, mae Afan Lido wedi codi i’r ail safle yn y tabl. Trwy ddal eu gafael yn y safle hwn. bydd y clwb yn sicrhau dyrchafiad i Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Felly byddai hyn yn effeithio ar Port gan y bydd dau glwb yn colli eu lle yn yr Uwch Gynghrair. Bydd Lido Afan yn chwarae eto yfory (Gwener, 21 Mawrth) adref yn erbyn Cambrian a Clydach. Medrwch weld y canlyniadau a’r tabl ar www.welshleague.org.uk.
Y clybiau sydd â siawns i lenwi’r ail safle ydy Afan Lido (Ch. 23 -47pt), Bryntirion (Ch 22- 45pt), Goytre (Ch 21- 44pt), Ento Aberaman (Ch 22- 43pt), Dinas Powys (Ch 21- 43 pt). Mae gan Lido Afan 11eg gêm yn weddill felly mae’r cyfan yn dal yn agored ond dylai neb feddwl y gall Port ddibynnu ar ond un clwb i fynd lawr. Cofiwch dim ond Lido Afan gall ennill dyrchafiad ond rhaid iddynt orffen yn gyntaf neu’n ail.

Following their 4-0 win against Pontypridd on Tuesday, Afan Lido occupy second place in the Welsh League (south) table which, if maintained, means that they will be promoted to the WPL. This could affect Port’s position as it follows that two clubs will be demoted from the WPL. Lido will be in action again tomorrow (Friday 21 March) at home to Cambrian and Clydach. You can check on results and tables on www.welshleague.org.uk.
The clubs challenging for 2nd place are Afan Lido (Pld. 23- 47pts), Bryntirion (Pld 22- 45pts),Goytre (Pld 21- 44pts), Ento Aberaman (Pld 22- 43pts), Dinas Powys (Pld 21- 43 pts). Afan Lido have 11 more games to play, so it still remains all to play for but no one should think that Port can depend on only one club being relegated. Bear in mind that Afan Lido are the only club able to gain promotion, but to achieve this they must be first or second in the table.

Viv yn obeithiol wrth edrych ymlaen /Viv looks ahead with hope

Stadiwm Remx Stadium, Port Talbot“Mae yna chwe gêm anodd i ddod ond dwi’n teimlo y medrwn godi’r pwyntiau sydd angen i’n cael ni allan o drafferth” oedd sylw Viv wrth edrych ymlaen at ymweld a Port Talbot.
“Da ni wedi chwarae’n gyson dda eleni ac roedd dydd Sadwrn (diwethaf) yn esiampl berffaith o hyn. Mae’r ysbryd yn dal yna a dyna mae’r chwaraewyr yn dweud hefyd.”
Wrth edrych yn ôl at y gêm ddarbi yn erbyn Bangor dywedodd “Cawsom 16 o ergydion ar gôl i bedwar gan Bangor –a mae hynny’n dweud y cyfan. Doedden ni ddim am fod yn negyddol wrth chwarae 4-5-1. Defnyddiais Gareth Parry ychydig tu ôl i Carl a Gareth oedd canolbwynt y cyfan. Gweithiodd y system; doedd Bangor yn methu ymdopi a’r unig siom oedd na lwyddon ni gymryd y cyfleoedd.”
Bydd Port heb y trefnydd canol cae, Danny Hughes, yn Port Talbot ond bydd Paul Roberts, a oedd mewn priodas ddydd Sadwrn diwethaf, yn ôl. Bydd yn ddiddorol i weld a fydd Viv yn dal i ddefnyddio’r patrwm 4-5-1, llwyddiannus, eto y penwythnos yma.

“We’ve got six tough games to go and I believe we can pick up the points needed to get out of trouble,” was Viv’s comment as he looked ahead to Saturday’s encounter with Port Talbot.
“We’ve consistently played well this year and (last) Saturday was a classic case in point. The spirit is still there and the players are saying that as well as me.”
Looking back to Saturday’s derby he said, “We had 16 efforts on goal to their four – that says it all. We know how Bangor play and we didn’t want to be negative playing 4-5-1.
I used Gareth Parry in front of the midfield and just behind Carl (Owen) and he (Parry) was at the hub of everything. Our set-up worked; Bangor couldn’t cope with it and the only disappointment was we didn’t take our chances.”
Port will be without midfield general Danny Hughes at Port Talbot but Paul Roberts will return having been at a wedding last Saturday. It will be interesting to see if Viv uses the successful 4-5-1 formation again this week.

Rhagolwg: Port Talbot v Porthmadog / Preview: Port Talbot v Porthmadog

Port TalbotBydd y perfformiad, a sicrhaodd gêm gyfartal yn erbyn Bangor ddydd Sadwrn, yn rhoi hyder i Port wrth iddynt ymweld â Port Talbot. Mae’r gêmau cynghrair rhwng y ddau glwb yma bob amser wedi bod yn agos iawn gan gynnwys y gêm gynghrair ar Y Traeth ynghynt yn y tymor. Enillodd Port Talbot y gêm honno o 2-1 ac mae pob gêm ond un rhwng y ddau glwb yn ystod y 5 tymor diwethaf wedi gorffen yn 2-1 neu 1-1. Yr eithriad oedd 2003/04 pan enillodd Port Talbot o 3-2.(Hynny ydy, heblaw am y sioe yng Nghwpan y BBC o dan Clayton Blackmore!)
Cafwyd buddugoliaeth arbennig y tro diwethaf i ni ymweld â Stadiwm Remax a hynny er y bu rhaid i Port chwarae efo 10 dyn am 86 munud -ar ôl i Richard Harvey dderbyn cerdyn coch. Jason Sadler a Clayton Blackmore sgoriodd y goliau. Yn eironig, o ystyried ein record oddi cartref eleni, honno ar 16 Rhagfyr oedd ein buddugoliaeth gyntaf oddi cartref yn ystod tymor 2006/07. Bydd Port Talbot yn wrthwynebwyr anodd gyda’u record yn y chwe gêm ddiwethaf yn dangos tair buddugoliaeth ac un gêm gyfartal. Adeiladwyd eu amddiffyn cadarn, sydd ddim yn ildio llawer o goliau, o gwmpas Matthew Rees a Craig Hanford. Yn y blaen, Martin Rose yw’r prif sgoriwr gyda 12 gôl yn y gynghrair eleni. Gall Porthmadog roi eu ffydd yn eu record dda oddi cartref –dim ond tri chlwb sydd wedi ennill mwy o gêmau oddi cartref- a dim ond Llanelli, TNS a Rhyl hefyd sydd wedi sgorio fwy o goliau oddi cartref.

Last Saturday’s home draw and excellent performance against Bangor will give Port added confidence for the visit to Port Talbot. The league games between Porthmadog and Port Talbot have always been closely contested, including the game at the Traeth earlier in the season. That game ended in a 2-1 win for the visitors and all except one of the games between the two clubs over the last five seasons, has produced either 1-1 or 2-1 results. The odd one out was a 3-2 win for Port Talbot in 2003/04. (Apart, of course, from the Premier Cup shambles under Clayton Blackmore!)
Our last visit to the Remax Stadium produced an outstanding win for Porthmadog despite having to play with ten men for 86 minutes –Richard Harvey having been red carded. The goals came from Jason Sadler and Clayton Blackmore. Ironically, in view of this season’s record, that was our first away win of last season on Dec.16th. Port Talbot will be difficult opposition with a record of 3 wins and a draw in the last 6 games. Their strong defence, built around Matthew Rees and Craig Hanford, does not yield many goals and Martin Rose is a dangerous striker with 12 league goals this season. Porthmadog put their faith in their good away record –only three clubs have more away wins- and their away goals tally is only bettered by Llanelli, TNS and Rhyl.

Cosb yr FAW ar Gaergybi / FAW punish Caergybi

Curt WilliamsYmddangosodd y canlynol ar dudalen disgyblaeth gwefan yr FAW: “Cafodd Curt Williams, chwaraewr gyda Hotspyrs Caergybi, ei gyhuddo o wneud sylw o natur hiliol honedig, yn ystod gêm yng Nghynghrair y Cymru Alliance rhwng Hotspyrs Caergybi a LexXI ar 22 Rhagfyr 2007. Ar ôl ystyried y dystiolaeth ysgrifenedig a llafar, penderfynodd y Panel Disgyblu fod y cyhuddiad yn erbyn Curt Williams wedi’i brofi. Penderfynwyd hefyd y byddai Curt Williams yn cael ei wahardd o bob cysylltiad a phêl-droed o 21 Mawrth 2008 tan fod CPD Hotspyrs Caergybi wedi chwarae 5 o gêmau prif dîm mewn cystadlaethau a gymeradwyir.
Cymharwch ban o 5 gêm gyda’r gosb wreiddiol ar CPD Porthmadog:
Dirwy o £13,200; £1000 i’w dalu o fewn 21 niwrnod gyda £12,200 wedi’i ohirio.
3 phwynt i’w dynnu o gyfanswm pwyntiau cynghrair Porthmadog.
Porthmadog i dalu rhan briodol o gostau’r gwrandawiad.
Gofynnodd Gareth Williams (cyfrannwr i’r wefan):
“Ydy hyn yn golygu fod sylw hiliol gan aelod o’r dorf yn waeth na sylw tebyg gan chwaraewr?
“Neu a ydy’r FAW am ddangos eu bod wedi dysgu gwers ar ôl y llanast gyda Port? Os ydy nhw, dylent ddychwelyd y ddirwy o £1,000 y bu’n rhaid i Port dalu.
"Nid wyf yn gofyn hyn er mwyn cynyddu’r gosb ar Gaergybi ond i annog yr FAW i ymddwyn yn fwy cyfrifol ac yn deg."

The following appeared on the disciplinary page of the FAW website. “Curt Williams, a player with Holyhead Hotspur FC, was charged for allegedly making a comment of an alleged racist nature during the Cymru Alliance Football League match, Holyhead Hotspur FC v Lex XI FC played on 22nd December 2007.After carefully considering the written and verbal evidence submitted, a Disciplinary Panel decided that the charge against Curt Williams be found proven. The Panel further decided that Curt Williams should be subject to A SUSPENSION FROM ALL FOOTBALL RELATED ACTIVITY as and from 21st March 2008 and until Holyhead Hotspur FC have completed 5 (five) Senior Team matches in Approved Competitions. (07.03.08)”
Compare this 5-game ban with the original punishment imposed on Porthmadog FC:
Porthmadog FC be fined £13,200; £1,000 to be paid within twenty one days, £12,200.00 to remain suspended.
Porthmadog FC to have three (3) points deducted from its league total.
Porthmadog FC to pay an appropriate proportion of the costs incurred.
Gareth Williams -a contributor to the website- asks:
“Does this mean that a racist remark by an individual supporter is worse than a racist remark by a player?
“Or does it mean that the FAW have learned their lesson after the Port debacle? If so maybe they should return the £1,000 fine they imposed on Port.
“I ask this not because I wish to see Holyhead sanctioned more heavily rather that the FAW behave more responsibly and even-handedly.”

Gwrthod i McGuigan newid clwb / McGuigan’s move rejected

Ged McGuiganGerard McGuigan, golwr Y Trallwng a chyn golwr Porthmadog, ydy’r diweddaraf i gael ei rwystro rhag newid clwb oherwydd penderfyniad y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed i wrthod caniatâd rhyngwladol. Roedd y chwaraewr wedi cytuno telerau i symud dros y ffin i glwb Hednesford Town, o Uwch Gynghrair Unibond, a hynny tu allan i’r ffenestr drosglwyddo.
Gweithredu’r rheol hon arweiniodd hefyd at wrthod caniatâd i Richard Smart symud o Port i Leek Town. Am y tro cyntaf ers i hyn ddigwydd, cafodd yr amddiffynnwr ei gynnwys yng ngharfan Port ddydd Sadwrn, ar gyfer y gêm yn erbyn Bangor, gan ddod i’r cae fel eilydd am y chwarter awr olaf.

The Welshpool Town, and former Porthmadog, keeper Gerard McGuigan is the latest player to be refused international clearance by the FAW. He had agreed terms to join Unibond Premier club, Hednesford Town. The FAW decision is taken in order to prevent moves to clubs in the English pyramid who do not apply a transfer window.
This new attitude, by the FAW, also led to Richard Smart’s proposed move to Leek Town being turned down. The defender was included in the Porthmadog squad on Saturday for the first time since this occurred and he appeared as substitute for the last 15 minutes against Bangor.

Rhagolwg: Port v Bangor / Preview: Port v Bangor

BangorGyda 27 o bwyntiau ac 13 o safleoedd yn rhannu’r ddau glwb yn y Gynghrair, bydd Bangor yn ffefrynnau clir i sicrhau’r tri phwynt ddydd Sadwrn. Mae Ashley Stott wedi cael tymor arbennig hyd yma yn sgorio 18 o goliau yn y gynghrair. Ond yn ddiweddar, yn y gynghrair, nid yw Bangor wedi bod yn canfod y rhwyd mor gyson ac heb sgorio mwy nag un gôl yn un o’u pum gêm ddiwethaf. Ond ar ôl dweud hynny, bydd eu hyder yn uchel iawn ar ôl iddynt sicrhau lle yn rownd cyn derfynol Cwpan Cymru gyda buddugoliaeth swmpus dros Cegidfa.
Ond rhaid cofio mai gêm ddarbi ydy hon a phan gyfarfu’r ddau glwb ar Ffordd Ffarar ym mis Hydref, roedd angen gôl hwyr i rwyd eu hunain cyn i Port ildio a cholli’r frwydr. Mae Port yn gwybod, os ydynt am grafu eu ffordd allan o’r twll, fydd rhaid iddynt ddal ati i frwydro er mwyn codi pwyntiau. Yn ystod yr ugain munud olaf yn erbyn Airbus, dangoswyd y math o chwarae y bydd ei angen o’r cychwyn -ac am weddill y tymor. Os ydym yn gadael i glybiau fynd ar y blaen o ddwy gôl, fedrwn ni ddim disgwyl ennill.
Y newyddion ynglyn ag anafiadau ydy -na ddisgwylir i Paul Roberts fod ar gael ddydd Sadwrn ac mae hefyd marc cwestiwn am Mike Foster a Marcus Orlik Pwy bynnag sydd yn chwarae, rhaid inni godi ein gêm a sylweddoli fod sioc yn bosib. Cofiwch Caersws 1 Bangor 0.

With 27 points and 13 places separating the two sides in the WPL, Bangor go into Saturday’s match as firm favourites to pick up all three points. Ashley Stott has been in outstanding form in front of goal this season, finding the net 18 times in the league. But Bangor have not been finding the net with quite the same frequency of late in the league, scoring no more than a single goal in each of their last five league games. However their confidence will be high after reaching the semi-final of the Welsh Cup with a bumper win over Guilsfield.
Having said that, this is a local derby and when the two sides met at Farrar Road, it was a close encounter with a late own goal needed to break Port’s battling resistance. Port also know they need to keep picking up points if they are to claw their way out of trouble and will need a repeat of that fighting spirit. In the last 20 minutes of the game against Airbus, they showed the kind of play that will be needed from the start -and for the remainder of the season. You can’t give teams a two goal advantage and still expect to win.
The news on the injury front is not good with Paul Roberts reported to be definitely out on Saturday, with Mike Foster and Marcus Orlik described as doubtful. Whoever plays, we need to raise our game and realise that shocks are possible. Remember Caersws 1 Bangor 0.

Iwan a Gareth ym Marathon Llundain / Iwan and Gareth run London Marathon

Iwan WilliamsEto eleni bydd Iwan Williams, aelod o Ail Dîm Port, yn ail adrodd ei gamp o’r llynedd ac yn rhedeg ym Marathon Llundain. Cofiwch llynedd iddo gwblhau’r marathon mewn amser arbennig o dda, 3 awr 19 munud 13 eiliad. Bydd Gareth Piercey, sy’n hyfforddwr gydag Academi Port, yn ymuno ag Iwan. Unwaith eto i’r elusen ‘Children with Leukaemia’ bydd y ddau yn codi arian. Mae hon yn elusen gwerth ei chefnogi ac rwy’n siwr y bydd cefnogwyr Port, a fu mor hael yn 2007 pryd y casglwyd y swm sylweddol o £3649.34, yn barod eu cefnogaeth eto. Mae’n siwr y byddwch unwaith eto yn dymuno cefnogi’r ddau. Mae’n bosib noddi’r ddau ar y wefan www.bmycharity.com/piercyandiwbach.

Once again, Iwan Williams, a playing member of Porthmadog Reserves, will be seeking to repeat his achievement of last year and completing the London Marathon. Last year, he finished in an excellent time of 3 hours 19 minutes and 13 seconds. Gareth Piercey, a coach with the Porthmadog Academy, will be joining Iwan. Again the charity, which has been named by the two, is ‘Children with Leukaemia’ –a worthy cause. It is a cause worth supporting and once again we can rely on Port supporters to show their generosity. In 2007 a magnificent £3649.34 was raised and you can pledge your support again in 2008 on www.bmycharity.com/piercyandiwbach.
