Gêm nesa’ ar Y Traeth / Next home fixture

Caergybi Bydd y gêm nesaf ar Y Traeth ar nos Fercher 14 Mawrth yn erbyn Hotspyrs Caergybi. Gêm gynghrair fydd hon rhwng y ddau glwb OND os bydd y saga Cwpan Huws Gray rhwng Cegidfa a Chaergybi yn dod i ben a Chaergybi yn fuddugol, wedyn bydd y gêm ar 14 Mawrth yn newid i fod yn gêm Rownd 2 Cwpan Huws Gray.
Y cyfan, ar y funud felly, braidd yn amhendant, diolch i’r tywydd gaeaf rhyfeddol o wlyb sy’n gur pen i ysgrifennydd y gynghrair.

The next fixture at the Traeth will be the re-arranged home game against Holyhead Hotspurs. This will now be played on Wednesday evening, 14th March. As things stand it will be a league fixture.
However, if the long running Huws Gray Cup saga between Guilsfield and Holyhead is finally resolved, and Holyhead win that game, then the game on Wednesday, 14 March will become a Round 2 Huws Gray Cup tie.
Therefore, all a bit up in the air at the moment, and a real headache for the league secretary, thanks to this incredibly wet winter season.

Ian Furlong yn ôl ar Y Traeth / Ian Furlong back at the Traeth

Un o’r cannoedd cafodd eu siomi gyda gohiriad y gem yn erbyn Treffynnon oedd Ian Furlong o Amlwch. Ian yn ymweld a’r Traeth 59 mlynedd i’r diwrnod y chwaraeodd dros tîm o dan 18 oed Cymru yn erbyn Lloegr yn 1959.
Chwaraeodd Ian, Monswnyn a Cymro glân gloyw, dros tîm o dan 18 oed Cymru yn erbyn Lloegr o flaen torf o 4,000 ar y Traeth. Partner Ian fel cefnwr oedd Mike England, aeth i ddilyn gyrfa llwyddiannus gyda Spurs a Chymru, yn ogystal a rheoli ei wlad. Yn nhîm Lloegr, a enillodd 0-3, oedd Nobby Stiles a Geoff Hurst, dau a chwaraeodd rhan allweddol ym muddigoliaeth Lloegr yn rownd derfynol Cwpan y Byd 7 mlynedd ar ol hynny.
Rhwng 1962 a 1965 bu Ian yn chwarae gyda Port, y mwyafrif o’r gemau fel capten. Yn ffodus ‘roedd un o hen gefnogwyr y clwb yn y Traeth pan gyrhaeddodd Ian, sef Dafydd Wyn Jones, oedd yn y gem honno ar y Traeth ac yn ei chofio yn iawn. “Dwi yn cofio ffrind i mi, cefnogwr Man U, yn gofyn i Nobby Styles ar ol y gem os oedd yn meddwl y byddai yn chwarae i tîm cyntaf y cochion rhyw dro. No chance mate meddai. 7 mlynedd wedyn ‘roedd ganddo fedal enillydd Cwpan y Byd a blwyddyn yn ddiweddarach medal Cwpan Ewrop gyda Man U!
Er gwybodaeth mae Ian yn frawd yng nghyfraith i’r Parchedig Dewi Morris, Morfa Lodge ac yn dal mor ffit ac yr oedd yn 1959 gan ei fod yn golffiwr o fri!
Bydd lluniau o’r ddau dim ar y diwrnod yn ymddangos ar y safle we hon maes o law.

One of the hundreds of people disappointed with the decision to postpone the match against Holywell was Ian Furlong of Amlwch. Ian returned to the Traeth 59 years to the exact date he played for Wales Under 18’s against England in front of 4,000 spectators at the Traeth.
His central defensive partner on the day was Mike England, who became a successful player with Spurs and Wales, eventually becoming Wales national team manager. Featuring in the England team were Nobby Styles and Geoff Hurst, world cup winners with England just 7 years later. Between 1962 and 1965 Ian was a regular member of the Port team, most of the time as Captain.
Fortunately one of the club’s oldest supporters was at the Traeth when Ian arrived. Dafydd Wyn Jones remembered that particular game and the occasion vividly. “I remember a friend of mine who was a big Man U fan adking the 18 year old Styles whether he would ever make the reds first team. No chance mate was his reply! Seven years later he won a World Cup winners medal and the following year added an European Cup winners medal.
For information Ian is the brother in law of the Reverand Dewi Morris of Morfa Lodge. He looks just as fit as he did in 1959 possibly because of his regular golfing pastime!
Photographs of both teams on the day will be available on this site in due course.

Clwb yn galw am gyfarfod brys / Club seeking urgent meeting

Mae bwrdd y Clwb wedi gweithredu ar frys i geisio datrys problemau safon y maes ar y Traeth ar ôl gorfod gohirio y gêm yn erbyn Treffynnon.
Gyrrwyd e-bost prynhawn Sadwrn at Adran Ffyrdd Cyngor Sir Gwynedd yn gofyn am gyfarfod safle gyda swyddogion yr awdurdod a chynrychiolwyr Llywodraeth Cymru.
Yn ôl un o’r cyfarwyddwyr, Dafydd Wyn Jones:
“Mae’r bwrdd o’r farn bod adeiladu y ffordd osgoi wedi cael effaith andwyol ar y cae. Ar un adeg, a hynny dim ond 7-8 mlynedd yn ol, ni fyddai rhaid gohirio gemau er gwaethaf y tywydd. ‘Roedd gan y Traeth enw da led-led Cymru a thu hwnt. Gêm Port oedd yr unig un yn t gynghrair heddiw i gael ei gohirio! Fe chwaraewyd y gêm yn Penrhyndeudraeth wrth ymyl. Felly mae rhaid datrys y broblem ac fe ddylwn cael cefnogaeth yr awdurdodau i wneud hynny”.

Y Traeth a'r ffordd osgoi o'r awyr / The Traeth and the by-pass from the sky

The Club’s board has moved swiftly to address recent flooding problems at the Traeth that led to the postponement of the match against Holywell.,br> An e-mail was sent on Saturday afternoon to the Highways Department of Gwynedd Council asking for an urgent meeting with its officers and representatives of the Welsh Government.
According to board director Dafydd Wyn Jones:
“We are of the opinion that since the by pass was built the quality of the pitch at the Traeth has deteriorated rapidly. 7-8 years ago, whatever the weather there were never any cancellations. Now we have 4 in a month, two first team and two Under 18’s matches. The Traeth used to have an enviable reputation throughout Wales and beyond. Our match against Holywell was the only one in the league postponed! The nearby Penrhyndeudraeth match was played. We believe, therefore, that we need the support of the relevant authorities to sort out the problem”

Dim gêm ar Y Traeth / No game at the Traeth

Yn dilyn archwiliad o’r cae am 9.30 am heddiw, gan y dyfarnwr JB Roberts, yn anffodus bu’n rhaid gohirio’r gêm gynghrair heddiw yn erbyn Treffynnon. Hefyd gohiriwyd y gêm Dan 18 yn erbyn Bae Penrhyn a oedd I’w chwarae ‘fory (Sul).
Roedd yna broblem efo un rhan o’r cae yn ymestyn o’r ‘D’ ar ochr y Maes Parcio o’r cae am lathenni I gyfeiriad y cylch canol. Er waethaf yr holl waith a wnaed gan yr ysgrifennydd Rob Bennett a’r tirmon Gareth Evans, yn caro tunelli o dywod i drin y broblem, nid oedd modd sychu allan y darn yma. Doedd y bêl ddim yn sboncio ar y darn problemus, er fod gweddill y cae, gan gynnwys ceg y gôl ar y ddau ben, yn iawn.
Rhaid gobeithio am gyfnod o dywydd sych i ddod ac ateb dros dro i’r broblem. Yn amlwg bydd angen gwaith ar y cae dros yr haf i’w adfer i’r safon arferol.
Mae cael problemau o’r math yma yn brofiad newydd i’r clwb gan fod y cae dros y blynyddoedd, efo’i sylfaen dywodyd, wedi cael enw da am sychu’n gyflym -ond dim heddiw!

Following a 9.30 am inspection by referee JB Roberts the Traeth pitch was declared unplayable and today’s game against Holywell Town has unfortunately been called off and also tomorrow’s U18s fixture against Penrhyn Bay.
There has been a problem with one area of the pitch extending from the ‘D,’ at the Car Park end of the ground, extending for some yardage towards the centre circle. Despite the huge efforts during the week, by club secretary Rob Bennett and groundsman Gareth Evans; carrying tons of sand has failed to solve the problem. There was no bounce of the ball in the problem area while the remainder of the ground, including both goal areas, was playable.
Hopefully we will get an extensive period of dry weather to bring a temporary solution to the problem but clearly it will need extensive ground works over the summer to eradicate the problem.
This is a new experience for the club, as the Traeth has had an excellent reputation for quick drying with very few postponements over the years – but not today!!.

Gêm wedi GOHIRIO / GAME OFF

Yn dilyn archwiliad o’r cae mae’r gêm yn erbyn Treffynnon wedi’I gohirio.
Mae’r gêm Dan 18 yfory hefyd wedi’I gohirio.

Today’s game against Holywell Town has been postponed following a pitch inspection.
The U18s game tomorrow (Sunday) has also been postponed.

Arolwg o’r cae / Pitch Inspection

Bydd yna arolwg o’r Traeth bore fory (Sadwrn) am 9.30pm, cyn y gêm yn erbyn Treffynnon. Mae yna llawer o waith wedi’i wneud ar un darn o’r cae dros y dyddiau diwethaf a gobeithio fydd hyn yn ddigon i’r gêm fynd yn ei blaen. Y dyfarnwr JB Robets fydd yn gwneud yr arolwg.
Cewch ganlyniad yr arolwg ar y Wefan/Ttydar/Facebook

There will be a pitch inspection at the Traeth tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 9.30am ahead of the game against Holywelll Town. The inspection will be carried out by WPL official, JB Roberts.
There is one area of concern and hopefully all the work carried out over the last few days will be enough to ensure that the game can go ahead.
Result of the inspection will be posted on website/Twitter/Facebook

Rhagolwg: Treffynnon / Preview: Holywell Town

Noddwr / Match Sponsor: RJ Williams, HONDA, Talsarnau.

Treffynnon / Holywell Pnawn Sadwrn bydd Treffynnon yn teithio I’r Traeth ar gyfer gêm gynghrair. Y clwb o Sir Fflint sydd â’r record orau dros y 6 gêm ddiwethaf yn yr HGA, yn ennill pump o’r chwech. Yn ystod y gemau yma ond yn ildio 3 gôl. Mae’r rhediad yn cynnwys buddugoliaeth o 5-0 dros Rhuthun a daeth yr unig golled yn erbyn Y Rhyl. Mae’r rhediad hefyd yn eu codi i’r 2ail safle yn y tabl, 4 pwynt tu ôl i Gaernarfon. Prif sgoriwr Treffynnon eleni ydy’r streicar Steve Lewis, gyda 16 gôl.
Yn y gêm rhwng y ddau glwb ar Ffordd Helygain, Treffynnon oedd yn fuddugol mewn gêm lle bu’n rhaid i Port chwarae efo 10 dyn am dros awr, ar ôl i Julian Williams weld y coch.
Heb gêm y Sadwrn diwethaf cafodd Port gêm ymarfer ddefnyddiol gyda Llanrwst. Nos Fawrth a bydd y garfan yn awyddus i chwarae gêm gynghrair er mwyn dileu’r atgof o’r ymweliad trychinebus â Brychdyn. Roedd hon yn wers i’w dysgu a wedyn anghofio’r gêm, gan ei bod yn berfformiad anodd i’w ddeall a’i esbonio yng nghyd destun y tymor.
Agos iawn bu gemau ar Y Traeth rhwng y ddau glwb dros y ddau dymor diwethaf, gyda un gôl yn ddigon yn y ddwy gêm i rhoi’r pwyntiau i Port. Ymlaen at bnawn Sadwrn, C’mon Port!!

On Saturday Holywell Town will be the visitors to the Traeth. The Flintshire club are currently the form team of the league, winning five of their last six games and conceding just three goals in the process. Their run includes an impressive 5-0 win over Ruthin Town and the only defeat came at Rhyl. This run has put Holywell in 2nd place in the table, 4pts behind the leaders Caernarfon. Dangerman Steve Lewis is their leading scorer with 16 goals.
In the corresponding game at Halkyn Road, the Wellmen picked up the three points in a game where Port were down to 10 men for more than an hour, after Julian Williams had been dismissed.
Having no fixture last week Port had a good workout on Tuesday against Llanrwst United and will be eager to get back into action and wipe out the memory of their disastrous outing to Broughton. This was a result to learn from and then forget, as it was totally out of the norm of performances this season.
Games at the Traeth between the two clubs over the past two seasons have been very close contests with a single goal, on both occasions, being enough to give Port all three points. On to Saturday, C’mon Port!!

An application made on behalf of the Club’s Academy has succeeding in getting on to the Tesco local community fund short list.
Between 1st of March and the 30th o April supporters will be able to back the application bu using the blue tokens you get for buying goods at the Tesco store. There will be 3 projects available, the one receiving most support will receive £4,000, the 2nd £2,000 and the third £1,000. The Academy, therefore, will definitely receive one of the three prizes and will be used to develop the Academy by offering more specialist coaching and the purchase of essential equipment.
At the present time over a 100 young people between 10 and 16 years of age are part of the Academy and receive quality coaching from trained and qualified staff. All the Welsh Premier Clubs receive substantial financial support from the Football Association of Wales, but the Club has managed to sustain a successful Academy over the years and this despite any outside financial support. However, its Academy has proven to be one of the most successful in Gwynedd.
Whichever contribution comes from the Tesco local community fund will be warmly welcomed and gratefully received in the attempts to sustain and develop the Academy for the future!

Llongyfarchiadau i Sion Eifion a’r tîm Dan 18 sydd wedi cyrraedd Ffeinal Cwpan Cynghrair Dyffryn Clwyd a Chonwy, gyda buddugloliaeth ardderchog o 9-0 dros Cyffordd Llandudno yn y rownd cyndefynol heddiw ar Y Traeth.

Congratulations to Sion Eifion and his U18s squad on reaching the final of the Vale of Clwyd League Cup with a convincing 9-0 win over Llandudno Junction in today’s semi-final at the Traeth.
After just 12 minutes Sion Roberts controlled a ball over the top from Meilir Edwards and put Port ahead with a good finish. That is how the score remained at the interval 1-0 to Port.
But early in the second half Rhys Hughes put Port firmly in the driving seat with two quick goals to make it 3-0. Rhys then went close to completing his hat-trick on 65 minutes when his effort struck the bar. Reece Evans, however, was on hand to turn the re-bound into the net, It did not take long for Rhys to get his hat-trick scoring just two minutes later.
It was one-way traffic now, as Reece Evans netted his second with Elis Thomas and Cai Henshaw joining in the goal romp. Sol Kempster completed the scoring with a thunderbolt as Port booked a place in the final. Thanks to Port Academy for the tweets.

Rhagolwg / Preview: Airbus (SAT NAV CH4 0DR)

Airbus UK Gyda Cwpan Cymru drosodd am flwyddyn arall gall Port droi eu sylw yn ôl i’r mater pwysig o ddringo’r tabl. Pnawn Sadwrn, taith i Frychdyn sy’n ei disgwyl i chwarae Airbus, y clwb yn y 5ed safle.
Er fod clwb y Maes Awyr wedi colli 7 o’u gemau y tymor hwn rhaid cofio fod 6 o’r gemau a gollwyd wedi dod ar gaeau gwair ac felly oddi cartref. Adref ar eu maes 3G, dim ond Treffynnon sydd wedi sicrhau buddugoliaeth, a honno yn un swmpus o 4-1. Yr unig dro arall iddynt fethu sicrhau y 3 phwynt mewn gêm gartref, oedd y gêm gyfartal 3-3 gyda Chaernarfon.
Ond mae’n siwr os fyddai dewis gan Craig Papirnyk, byddai’n dewis un plastig dros y math o gae a gafwyd ar Lannau Dyfrdwy. Bydd hyder y garfan yn dal yn uchel ar ôl y perfformiad yn y Gwpan. Er i’r canlyniad ar y dydd brofi’n siom, bellach mae’r chwaraewyr yn gwybod fod y gallu ganddynt i gystadlu ar lefel uwch.
Ar y Traeth Port enillodd o 2-1, gyda Joe Chaplin yn rhwydo’r ddwy. Byddai canlyniad tebyg pnawn Sadwrn yn dderbyniol iawn. C’mon Port!

With the Welsh Cup run over for another year, Port now turn their attention to the important business of continuing their climb up the table. On Saturday they will be away at Broughton taking on 5th placed Airbus.
The task is a tougher one than first appearances suggest, as 6 of Airbus’s 7 defeats, this season, have come on the road, away from their artificial surface at the Airfield. The only defeat on the plastic came against Holywell Town, with a convincing 4-1 scoreline. The only other time they dropped home points was in a 3-3 draw with Caernarfon.
But if there was a choice of surface, Craig Papirnyk would surely prefer the 3G surface to the grass version on Deeside! The squad can take plenty of confidence from their Cup performance against Connah’s Quay, as on another day they could have come away with a different result. The very least that the young Port team can take from the game, is that they have proved they can compete at that level.
At the Traeth Port were 2-1 winners with Joe Chaplin netting twice. A similar result on Saturday would be very acceptable. C’mon Port!

Dim gêm / Fixture Change

Caergybi / Holyhead Bydd yna ddim gêm ar Y Traeth ar y 10fed Chwefror. Roedd Port fod i chwarae gêm yng Nghwpan Huws Gray yn erbyn enillwyr y gêm rhwng Caergybi a Chegidfa. On gohiriwyd y gêm honno ddoe (27 Ion.) a bydd y ddau glwb yna yn chwarae eu gilydd yng Nghegidfa ar 10 Chwefror. Hyn yn siomedig gan fydd gan Port hefyd benwythnos heb gêm ar 24 Chwefror.
Bellach y gêm nesaf ar Y Traeth fydd honno yn erbyn Treffynnon ar 17 Chwefror.

Disappointingly Port will have no fixture on 10 February. They were scheduled to play a Huws Gray Cup tie against the winners of the game between Holyhead and Guilsfield. That fixture was postponed and will now be played on 10 February at Guilsfield. It is doubly disappointing as 24 February is also a free date.
The next game at the Traeth will now be on 17 February against Holywell Town.

Rhagolwg Cei Conna / Preview: Connah’s Quay Nomads

Cei Connah's Quay Pnawn Sadwrn bydd Port yn teithio i Gei Conna ar gyfer Rownd 4, Cwpan Cymru. Ar wahân i TNS doedd dim gêm anoddach i ddod o’r het. Ar ddiwedd cyfnod cyntaf yr Uwch Gynghrair mae Cei Conna yn yr ail safle yn y tabl tu ôl i TNS, pencampwyr llynedd. Ail oedd eu safle llynedd hefyd. Mae eu rheolwr profiadol Andy Morrison wedi eu gwneud yn anodd i’w curo, Maent hefyd wedi cael profiadau da yn Ewrop.
Yn amlwg Cei Conna fydd y ffefrynnau clir pnawn Sadwrn, ond bydd Port yn edrych ymlaen at y sialens o chwarae clwb ar lefel uwch. I gael siawns o achosi sioc bydd rhaid i Port fod ar eu gorau a gobeithio am ychydig o hud y Gwpan i’w cario ’mlaen. Bydd yn brofiad da i garfan ifanc a lleol Craig Papirnyk, a gobeithio bydd ychydig o lwc o’u plaid ar y dydd.
Y tro diwethaf i’r ddau gyfarfod oedd mewn gêm cyn dymor yng Ngorfennaf 2015, gyda’r tîm o Lannau Dyfrdwy yn ennill yn gyfforddus. Y tro diwethaf mewn gêm Gynghrair oedd yn Chwefror 2012, gêm a orffennodd yn gyfartal 1-1 gyda Chris Williams yn sgorio dros Port. Am y gêm fwyaf cofiadwy, beth am honno yn Rhagfyr 2008 â Port yn colli 5-1 ar yr hanner. Wedyn dod yn ôl yn rhyfeddol yn yr ail hanner ac, erbyn i’r chwiban olaf swnio, ennill buddugoliaeth o 6-5.
Bydd angen dipyn o’r ysbryd yna pnawn Sadwrn, C’mon Port!!

On Saturday Port will travel to Connah’s Quay for a 4th Round tie in the JD Welsh Cup. There are not many tougher games the draw could have thrown up. At the end of the of the first phase of this season’s Welsh Prem the Nomads are in 2nd place behind league leaders and current champions, TNS. That is also how they finished last season’s title race. Under manager Andy Morrison the team have also performed well after qualifying for Europe. They have a consistency which has made them hard to beat.
Port will be very much the underdogs but will be relishing the challenge of stepping up a level. To have a chance of causing an upset, they will need to be at their very best and hope the magic of the Cup will do the rest. It will be a great experience for Craig Papirnyk’s young Gwynedd based squad and hopefully they can rise to this challenge.
The last time the two clubs met was in a pre-season fixture back in July 2015 when the Nomads were comfortable winners. For the last League fixture between the two clubs we have to look back to February 2012 when it ended all square 1-1 at the Deeside Stadium with Chris Williams scoring for Port. For one of the most memorable games between the two clubs we have to recall Port’s amazing recovery in December 2008, having been 5-1 down at half-time coming back to record a sensational 6-5 win at the final whistle.
We will need some of that fighting spirit on Saturday! C’mon Port!
