Dan 18 yn ennill gêm anodd / Hard fought win for U18s

Caergybi / Holyhead Buddugoliaeth arall i’r tîm Dan 18 mewn gêm agos iawn yn erbyn Caergybi heddiw. Chwarae penderfynol a’r ysbryd i ddal ati yn cadw’r record ddi-guro yn y gynghrrair.
Er fod yr Hotspyrs wedi cychwyn yn gryf daeth Port fewn i’r gêm gyda Rhys Hughes yn taro’r postyn ar ôl chwarter awr. Aeth Port ar y blaen pan sgoriodd Math Roberts gyda chic o’r smotyn wedi’i Rhys Hughes gael ei lorio gan y golwr. Dal yn 1-0 i Port oedd y sgôr ar yr hanner ond 5 munud i fewn i’r ail hanner rhwydodd Rhys Hughes i’w gwneud yn 2-0. Ond ar ôl 54 munud collwyd y fantais o ddwy gôl wrth i Gaergybi ganfod y rhwyd. Wrth i’r hanner fynd yn ei flaen dechreuodd yr Hotspyrs reoli, ac ar ôl 72 munud nhw ddaeth yn gyfartal 2-2. Ond dal i frwydro gwnaeth Port ac yn yr amser a ychwanegwyd peniodd Carl O’Hara i’r rhwyd a’i gwneud yn 3-2, ac roedd y record cant y cant yn ddiogel.
Trydarwyd ar diwedd y gêm gan Academi Port fel hyn: “Bu’n rhaid i’r hogia gloddio’n ddyfn i ennill y gêm a hynny heb inni chwarae’n arbennig o dda.”Diolch am y trydar rheolaidd.

It was another tight contest between Port and Holyhead today, but grit and determination saw Port U18s maintain their unbeaten record in the Vale of Clwyd Youth League.
Though the Hotspurs started the stronge,r Port were soon back in the game with Rhys Hughes hitting the post. They took the lead after 26 minutes when Math Roberts scored from the penalty spot after the home keeper had brought down Rhys Hughes. It remained 1-0 to Port at the interval but 5 minutes into the second period Rhys Hughes made it 2-0. But the two goal advantage did not last, as the Hotspurs cut the deficit with a goal on 54 minutes. As the half wore on Holyhead began to control the game, and on 72 minutes they levelled the scores at 2-2. But Port kept battling to the end to maintain their 100% record and in added time a Carl O’Hara header made it 3-2 for Port.
A Port Academy tweet summed things up like this: “The boys dig deep to win a game in which we didn’t particularly play well!” Thanks for the regular tweets.

Jake Jones yn mynd ar fenthyg / Jake Jones leaves on loan

Jake Jones Yr wythnos hon bydd Jake Jones yn ymuno gyda Conwy ar fenthyg. Meddai Craig Papirnyk heddiw:
“Mae Jake yn chwaraewr talentog sydd angen y cyfle i ddatblygu. Ar hyn o bryd mae gennym chwaraewyr profiadol yn yr un safle a Jake ac mae’n well iddo fynd allan i gael fwy o brofiad.
“Yn Perry (Gareth Thomas) mae gan Conwy rheolwr profiadol, a caiff Jake ddigonedd o brofiad ac fydd hyn yn ein helpu ni hefyd.
“Rwy’n dymuno’n dda i Jake, gan obeithio fydd yn mwynhau ei gyfnod gyda Conwy sy’n glwb da iawn, ac yn edrych i ddychwelyd i’r Cymru Alliance.”
Pob lwc Jake!

Jake Jones is to join Conwy Borough this week on loan. Craig Papirnyk said today:
“Jake is a very talented young man and we want to see him develop. At the moment we have more experienced players who play in the same position as Jake, so we have agreed it’s best for him to go and get his own senior experience.
“At Conwy under Perry (Gareth Thomas), an experienced Manager, he will get a great learning experience and I have no doubt Perry will help his development in the long run for us.
“I would like to wish Jake all the best and enjoy his time at a very good club, who are ambitious and looking for a return to the Cymru Alliance.”
Good luck Jake!

Rhagolwg / Preview: Panteg FC

Cwpan Cymru Noddwr / Match Sponsor: Mike Stringer, Minffordd.

Pnawn Sadwrn bydd Port yn croesawu Panteg i’r Traeth ar gyfer gêm yng Nghwpan Cymru. Bydd y clwb o Griffithstown ger Pontypwl yng Ngwent yn wynebu taith hir, ond mae gêm rhwng dau glwb sy’n gwybod fawr ddim am eu gilydd yn ychwanegiad at y diddordeb yn y gêm.
Mae’n gêm allweddol i’r ddau glwb ac i Port yn dilyn dau ganlyniad siomedig mae mynd ymlaen yn y Gwpan yn bwysig iawn er mwyn cynnal momentwm y tymor a’r diddordeb. Yn ychwanegol bydd yna dipyn o ysgogiad ariannol I’r ddau glwb gan fydd yr enillwyr yn sicrhau gwobr o £2,500, gyda’r cyfle wedyn i fynd ymlaen i rownd yr wyth olaf.
Mae Panteg yn chwarae yn 3ydd Adran Cynghrair Cymru (Y De) sydd yn eu gosod yn y 3ydd lefel o’r Pyramid; yr un fath a Penley. Ond anwybyddu’r gymhariaeth hon fyddai orau a disgwyl am gêm dipyn anoddach y tro hwn. Eisoes mae Panteg wedi ennill pedair gêm i gyrraedd y fan hon, gan guro Newport City a Llwydcoed yn y rowndiau cymhwyso ac i ddilyn buddugoliaeth dros Y Fenni yn y Rownd 1af. Ond yn yr ail rownd crewyd dipyn o sioc wrth i Banteg guro Ton Pentre o Adran 1 Cynghrair y De. Bu Ton Pentre yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru ar un adeg ond erbyn hyn yn stryglo yng ngwaelodion Adran 1.
Erbyn hyn mae Panteg wedi codi i’r 6ed safle yn eu cynghrair, ac mae ganddynt gemau mewn llaw ar nifer o’r clybiau sy’n uwch.
Bydd chwarae gêm gwpan yn gyfle i Port anghofio am ddau berfformiad siomedig yn y gynghrair a chanolbwyntio ar ddychwelyd at y safonau a’u gwelodd yn curo 5 gêm yn olynol. C’mon Port!!

Next Saturday its JD Welsh Cup Day, when we welcome Panteg FC to the Traeth for a third round tie. The Gwent club, based at Griffithstown near Pontypool, face a long journey but a game between two clubs, who know very little about each other, gives the tie an added interest.
This is a key fixture for both clubs, and for Port, after two indifferent results, progress in the Cup assumes huge importance in terms of momentum and maintaining interest, as the season progresses.
For both clubs, there is an added financial incentive, as the winners of this tie are assured of a £2,500 prize, as well as the chance of progressing to the quarter finals of the competition.
Panteg, play in the 3rd Division of the Welsh League (South) which in theory places them at the same level in the Pyramid as our Round 2 opponents, Penley. But we would be wise to ignore such comparisons and expect a far tougher contest than in the previous rounds. Panteg have already won four games to reach this stage; defeating Newport City and AFC Llwydcoed in the Qualifying Rounds, followed by a win over Abergavenny Town in the 1st Round. But in Round 2 the club from Gwent caused the shock of the round, defeating Ton Pentre, two divisions above them in the Welsh League. Ton Pentre, once of the League of Wales, are however having a difficult season in the lower reaches of the League.
Panteg are now up to 6th place in their division, with games in hand over some of the clubs above them.
Port will need to put aside the last two results which have come as something of a surprise given the previous winning run. Let’s hope that Cup action gives us the opportunity of refinding that spark. C’mon Port!

Hyfforddwr newydd yn ymuno / New Coach joins

Heddiw dywedodd Craig Papirnyk fod Mark Orme yn ymuno gyda’i staff hyfforddi gan lanw sgidiau Ioan Llewelyn, a adawodd yn ddiweddar i reoli Llanfairpwll. Bu Mark yn chwaraewr gyda nifer o glybiau yn y gogledd gan gynnwys Treffynnon, Conwy a Dinbych.
Meddai Craig, “Bydd Mark yn ymuno a mi a Guy gan rhoi cefnogaeth i ni. Wedi’i Ioan adael am Llanfair, daeth Sion Eifion i fewn ac mae wedi rhoi cymorth ffantastig imi a Guy ond mae gan Sion llawer o drefnu i’w wneud gyda'r tîm Dan 18, ac mae hefyd yn gweithio i Man City ar ddyddiau Sadwrn.
“Carwn ddiolch i Sion am ei ymdrechion, am ein cynorthwyo dros y mis diwethaf. Rwy’n siwr bydd yn dal i wneud pan fydd hyn yn bosib.
“Rwy’n nabod Orme dros nifer o flynyddoedd ac hefyd wedi chwarae yn ei erbyn. Hefyd mae Guy a fo wedi cydweithio ar gyrsiau Addysg Hyfforddwyr. Bydd y ffaith ein bod yn ‘nabod ein gilydd yn help i Mark setlo. Rwy’n edrych ymlaen i gydweithio efo fo.”

Craig Papirnyk has announced today that Mark Orme will be joining his coaching staff replacing Ioan Llewelyn who joined Llanfairpwll as club manager. As a player Mark has been with a number of clubs in north Wales including Holywell Town, Conwy Borough and Denbigh Town.
Craig said, “Mark will be joining myself and Guy and coming in to support us. After Ioan left to join Llanfair, Sion Eifion has stepped in and has been a fantastic help to myself and Guy but Sion does have the U18s to organise and also works for Man City on Saturdays.
“I'd like to thank Sion for his efforts, coming in and helping over the last month or so. He will, I am sure continue to support us as and when he can.
“I have known Orme for many years and played against him. Guy works alongside him on some Coach Education courses so he is known to us, which will help him settle a lot quicker in to his role and I'm looking forward to working with him. “

Steve Bratt i’r Bermo / Steve Bratt to Barmouth

Jake Jones Mae’r cefnwr canol digyfaddawd, Stephen Bratt, yn dychwelyd i’r Bermo am gyfnod.
Meddai Craig Papirnyk heddiw:
“Bydd yn dychwelyd i’r Bermo i gael mwy o amser ar y cae ond fydd yn cael ei alw yn ôl pan fydd angen.
“Mae wedi colli allan ers dioddef anaf i’w benglin ac angen cael mwy o gemau er mwyn codi lefelau ffitrwydd.
“Mae Ste yn chwaraewr cant y cant ac yn sylweddoli mai hyn ydy’r peth gorau iddo ar y funud,” ychwanegodd Craig.

No nonsense centre back Stephen Bratt is to make a temporary return to Barmouth.
Manager, Craig Papirnyk said today:
“He will return to the club and get minutes under his belt and will be called back if needed.
“Since his knee injury he has missed out on playing time with us and needs to go and play games to raise his match fitness levels .
“Ste is a 100% committed player and knows that this is the best for him right now,” added Craig.

Rhagolwg / Preview: Rhuthun

Rhuthun Pnawn Sadwrn bydd Port yn teithio i Rhuthun, y tro cyntaf iddynt adael Y Traeth ers 30 Medi pan chwaraewyd y gêm yn Nhreffynnon -bron i ddau fid yn ôl !! Sylwch fod y gic gyntaf am 2 o’r gloch.
Mae Rhuthun ar hyn o bryd yn y 10fed safle dau le yn is na Port, efo 4 pwynt yn llai. O’u pedair gêm gynghrair ddiwethaf maent wedi ennill un, colli un a dwy yn gyfartal. Mae gemau yn erbyn Rhuthun bob amser yn anodd a dangoswyd eu gallu i sgorio wrth iddynt rhwydo 8 gôl yn erbyn Queen’s Park a pump yn erbyn y tîm arall ar waelod y tabl sef Cyffordd Llandudno.
Bydd angen cadw llygad ar Llyr Morris, prif sgoriwr yr HGA hyd yma gyda 15 o goliau. Mae ar y blaen i gr?p o chwaraewyr ar 11 o goliau sy’n cynnwys Joe Chaplin. Camp fawr Morris oedd rhwydo 5 gôl yn y fuddugoliaeth dros Queen’s Park.
Yn rheoli Rhuthun mae Chris Williams a achubodd y clwb y tymor diwethaf ac mae’n dal i ddatblygu’r clwb ymhellach y tymor hwn.
Mae Port yn gwybod mor anodd ydy agor amddiffyn Rhuthun. Y tymor diwethaf roedd angen gôl wych funud olaf gan julian Williams i sicrhau buddugoliaeth. Roedd colli i Cegidfa y Sadwrn diwethaf yn dipyn o siom ar ôl rhediad o 5 gêm diguro. Mae’r cefnogwyr yn ymwybodol iawn o’r gallu yn y garfan hon ac wedi perfformio’n wych ar adegau. Ond i ddringo’r tabl eto bydd rhaid cael fwy o gysondeb yn y chwarae a dyna, mae’n siwr fydd Craig Papirnyk yn edrych amdano gan ddechrau pnawn Sadwrn. C’mon Port!

On Saturday Port will travel to Ruthin, their first time on the road since the visit to Holywell on 30 September almost two months ago! Supporters should note that this game will kick off at 2pm.
Ruthin currently lie in 10th place in the table, two places below Port and with 4 fewer points. They have won one, lost one and drawn two of their last four games. They are never an easy team to beat and have really punished the bottom pair in the league scoring 8 goals against Queen’s Park and 5 against Llandudno Junction. In their line-up they have Llyr Morris the HGA’s leading scorer with 15 goals, ahead of a group of players, including Joe Chaplin, on 11 goals. A notable achievement for Llyr Morris was to score five times in the slamming of Queens’s Park.
The club are managed by Chris Williams who led their survival recovery last season and the club has continued to move forwrd this season under his leadership.
Port know only too well how difficult it is to break down our opponents, as it took a last minute super strike from Julian Williams to secure the three points last season. Last Saturday’s defeat at home to Guilsfield was a huge disappointment, as it follows on a run of five straight victories. Supporters are well aware of the ability in the squad and they have performed outstandingly at times but, if they are to climb the table, greater consistency is needed and that no doubt is what manager Craig Papirnyk will be looking for on Saturday, C’mon Port!

Rhagolwg; Cegidfa / Preview: Guilsfield

Cegidfa Noddwr / Match Sponsor: Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway Shop

Pnawn Sadwrn bydd Port yn croesawu Cegidfa i’r Traeth ar gyfer gêm gynghrair. Ar hyn o bryd mae’r ddau glwb ar 19 o bwyntiau gyda Port yn hawlio’r 5ed safle ar wahaniaeth goliau. Bydd y gêm yn un bwysig i’r ddau glwb. Gallai budugoliaeth, i un o’r ddau, eu codi i’r 4ydd neu hyd yn oed y 3ydd safle -os wnaiff canlyniadau eraill fynd o’u plaid.
Mae tair o’r bedair gêm ddiwethaf Cegidfa wedi gorffen yn gyfartal. Bu dwy o’r gemau hynny yn erbyn gwrthwynebwyr cryf-Caernarfon a Treffynnon- a’r llall adra i Cyffordd Llandudno – clwb sydd wedi cael y cam i fyny i’r HGA yn anodd.
Cyfrinach llwyddiant Cegidfa ydy fod yna gysondeb personel yn y garfan o dymor i dymor. Gwelwn nifer o wynebau cyfarwydd fel Dave Littleford, Andy Ford, Chris Cathrall (gwr y tafliad ecsoset), Adam Jenkins a Gareth Jones. Hefyd maent wedi dewis rheolwr o tu mewn i’r clwb ac mae Nathan Leonard -is-reolwr llynedd- yn chwaraewr reolwr at y tymor hwn.
Yn y garfan hefyd, mae Stuart Rogers, cyn chwaraewr canol cae Port, ac Asa Hamilton, sydd wedi bod yn sgorio’n gyson, hefyd yn gyn chwaraewr Port.
Bydd Port yn gobeithio dangos yr un math o chwarae ardderchog a gafwyd yn erbyn Penrhyncoch. Cafwyd perfformiad tîm cyfan o’r pêl-droed gorau a welwyd ar Y Traeth ers blynyddoedd. Os oes angen mwy o gymhelliant, bydd yr angen i wneud yn iawn am y golled drom 12 mis yn ôl yn ddigon. C’mon Port!

On Saturday Port will be in league action as they welcome Guilsfield FC to the Traeth. Currently the two clubs are locked on 19 points with Port edging into 5th place ahread of the Guils on goal difference. This makes Saturday’s game of key importance to both clubs, as a win could lift either of them into 4th or even 3rd spot, depending on other results.
The mid-Wales club have drawn 3 of their last 4 games. Two of the draws came against tough opponents -Caernarfon and Holywell- and the other surprisingly at home to strugglers Llandudno Junction.
The Guils squad has had a consistent look to it over a number of seasons. The same familiar names have cropped up in their squad; Dave Littleford, Andy Ford, Chris Cathrall (of the exocet throw -in), Adam Jenkins and Gareth Jones They have also appointed their managers from within the club, which helps to maintain the spirit which has carried the club forward. Nathan Leonard, last season’s assistant, has taken over as player manager.
The squad also includes former Port midfielder Stuart Rogers and among the goals for the Guils this season has been Asa Hamilton, another former Port player.
Port will look for a repeat of last Saturday’s excellent all-round team performance against Penrhyncoch, when they played some od the best football seen at the Traeth for many years. If they need any further incentive, the need to wipe out the memory of last season’s crushing 5-1 defeat at the Traeth should provide it. C’mon Port!

Academi Dan 15 / Academy U15s

Isod gwelir sylwadau hyfforddwyr Academi Port (Aaron Lee Rickards) ac Academi Caernarfon (Richard Cashman) yn dilyn y gêm Dan 15 rhwng y ddau glwb bore Sul diwethaf. Port enillodd o 1-0 ond fel mae’r sylwadau’r ddau hyfforddwr yn dangos, y profiad a’r perfformiad sy’n bwysig.

Aaron Lee Rickards
Been a difficult start to the season for my under 15s playing up a year in the academy league but showed they have learned a lot from the experiences and fully deserved a positive result today.
Thanks for the game. Result could have gone either way, but good to see a close and competitive game played in the right temperament and sportsmanship shown from both teams getting a lot out of it. Hopefully arrange a game at the Traeth in the new year! All the best this season.
Richard Cashman
Very pleasing performance byCaernarfon Academy U15. Wasn’t the result we wanted, but we definitely learnt several positive aspects and we’ll reflect on areas for improvement.

Above are the comments of the coaches of the Port Academy (Andrew Lee Rickards) and the Caernarfon Academy (Richard Cashman) following the U15s game between the two clubs. Port were 1-0 winners but as we see from the cmments of both coaches the experience and the performance are the important aspects.

Llwyddiant Steve Cooper / Steve Cooper’s success

Mae Steve Cooper, a chwaraeodd am gyfnod byr dros Port, wedi gwneud enw iddo’i hun fel prif hyfforddwr yn y maes rhyngwladol. Fo oedd y dyn y tu ôl i lwyddiant Lloegr ar lefel Dan 17 wrth iddynt ennill Gwpan y Byd i dimau Dan 17, cystadleuaeth a gynhaliwyd yn yr India yn ystod y mis diwethaf.
Chwaraeodd Steve Cooper yng nghanol y cae i Port yn ystod tymor llwyddianus 2002/03 pan sicrhawyd ddyrchafiad i UGC. Chwaraeodd ei gêm gyntaf dros Port yn y fuddugoliaeth o 2-0 dros Halkyn ac aeth ymlaen i ddechrau tair o gemau llawn a ‘chydig o gemau pan ddaeth i’r cae fel eilydd. Daeth y chwaraewr ganol cae i’r clwb ar fenthyg o glwb Bangor.
Mae Steve yn fab i’r dyfarnwr Keith Cooper a fu’n dyfarnu yng Nghynghrair Lloegr a hefyd ddyfarnodd ffeinal Cwpan y Gynghrair rhwng Aston Villa a Manchester United.
Ganwyd Steve Cooper ym Mhontypridd ac aeth ymlaen i chwarae dros Wrecsam, TNS, Bangor City a’r Rhyl. Bu hefyd yn hyfforddwr yn Academi Wrecsam ac Acdemi Lerpwl cyn mynd i hyfforddi carfannau Lloegr Dan 16 a Dan 17. Er mai am gyfnod byr fu ar y Traeth, mae’n dda i glywed am lwyddiant cyn chwaraewr i Port.

Steve Cooper, who played briefly for Port, has made a huge name for himself as a head coach on the international front. He was the man behind England’s success at U17 level coming back to beat Spain 5-2 in the final of the age group World Cup, held in India last month.
Steve Cooper played in midfield for Port during the promotion winnng season of 2002/03 making his debut in a 2-0 win over Halkyn making three starts and a handful of sub appearances. He came to the club on loan from Bangor City.
Steve is the son of Football League referee Keith Cooper who officiated in the League Cup Final of 1994 between Aston Villa and Manchester United.
Steve Cooper was born in Pontypridd and went on to play for Wrexham, TNS, Bangor and Rhyl. He went on to coach at the Wrexham Academy and later the Liverpool Acdemy before joining the England age group system. It is great to hear of the success of a former Port player even if it was just brief stay.

Drwodd i’r rownd gyn-derfynol / Through to the semis

Aeth y tîm Dan 18 drwodd i’r rownd gynderfynol Cwpan Ieuenctid Arfordir y Gogledd heddiw gyda buddugoliaeth o 2-1 dros Llanberis. Cyfarfu’r ddau glwb yn ddiweddar yn y gynghrair pan enillodd Port o 5-0. Y tro yma roedd y canlyniad yn dipyn agosach. Cafodd Port y cychwyn gorau posib wrth fynd ar y blaen ar ôl dim ond 6 munud gyda Aron Jones yn rhwydo croesiad Rhys Hughes. A pan oedd ‘chydig dros hanner awr wedi mynd daeth Llanberis yn gyfartal diolch i gôl yn syth o gic gornel. Roedd yn dal yn 1-1 ar ddiwedd yr hanner cyntaf.
Ar ôl 52 munud aeth Llanber lawr i ddeg dyn pan gafodd eu chwaraewr ail gerdyn melyn am droseddau ar Rhys Hughes. Yn dilyn yr ail gerdyn, Math Roberts ergydiodd gic gosb a gymrodd gyffyrddiad ar ei ffordd i’r rhwyd. 2-1 i Port a dyna sut arhosodd y sgôr tan y diwedd. Roedd Port drwodd i’r rownd cynderfynol. Da iawn hogia’! C’mon Port!

The U18s are through to the semi-final of the NWCFA Youth Cup semi-final with a 2-1 win at Llanberis today. The two clubs met in the league recently when Port were the winners by 5-0. Today’s game was a much closer contest. Port got away to a good start with a goal after only 6 minutes when Aron Jones volleyed in a cross by Rhys Hughes. Just after the half hour Llanberis drew level with a goal which came directly from a corner kick and the score remained 1-1 at the interval.
The turning point came on 52 mins when Llanberis went down 10 men with a sending off for two yellow cards for fouls on Rhys Hughes. Math Roberts took the resulting free kick and it took a deflection into the net. 2-1 to Port and that’s how the score remained at the end. Port were through to the semi finals. Well done lads! C’mon Port!
