04/01/16 Paps yn edrych yn ôl / Craig reflects on Saturday’s game Mae’r rheolwr, Craig Papirnyk, yn edrych yn ôl ar y gêm yn erbyn Dinbych pnawn Sadwrn diwethaf. Manager Craig Papirnyk reflects on Saturday’s defeat at Denbigh. “I must admit and on reflection I am very disappointed to come away from Denbigh with no points, I think the early missed chances cost us the 3pts in the end. I’ve seen us play better, we wasted some really good chances and were quite wasteful in possession throughout the game. I think not playing for two weeks over the Xmas period also had some affect on the lads, we looked off the pace at times and as I said we miss placed a fair few passes and also missed some good clear cut scoring opportunities! “ Credit to Denbigh however, they had the experience to keep going and they were always going to be tough to beat. I felt the game was there for us to win but we couldn’t finish the chances we were creating and typically when we should’ve scored Denbigh counter and score from an own goal and that’s just the way football is at times!! We conceded shortly after and that killed the game, we did continue to search for the goal to get us back in with a chance but it didn’t come, the lads as always worked until the end and I commend them always for the work ethic they put in for me and the club. “We will work hard in training this week and I will be looking for a good start Saturday in the 1st of 3 home games in a row. We welcome an inform Druids side which won’t be easy but we know we can mix it with anyone in the league on our day, I will also be looking for a reaction after Saturday’s disappointment and with players returning to the squad competition for places is high, whatever the result I know the lads will work hard and we will look to bounce back with a good performance in front of the Port faithful. “ Thank you to all of the travelling supporters on the weekend.” COME ON PORT!! Below manager Craig Papirnyk shares his thoughts ahead of the rearranged visit to Denbigh. After much confusion we will be playing this weekend 2nd January. After originally having no fixture it came as a surprise when we were told about this game, however I must admit that after Monday’s cancellation I am glad we have a game. It’s important for the lads to keep the momentum going after recent performances. Denbigh have a lovely pitch which hopefully has been coping with the adverse weather we have been having, we will be looking to continue the good football we have been playing and we will go into the game with confidence. It is going to be a difficult task, Denbigh have a very experienced team and we will have to be at our best to get a result. Looking at last season’s performance, where we played exceptionally well, I hope we can emulate that result but they’ve already beaten us this season 4-1 so it won’t be easy. Although in my opinion the score line wasn’t a fair reflection on the game. I am looking forward to the game, we will go there with nothing to lose, coming away with a positive result will leave us also in good stead for the next 3 home games on the bounce. We will be without Josh Banks who had pre-planned to go away but thankfully some of the lads have cancelled their plans so that they are available to play. Asa Hamilton will return from suspension so we will go to Denbigh at almost full strength , Leon Newell being the only injured player out at the moment. I’d like to wish everyone involved with the club & the supporters a Happy New Year, let’s look to start 2016 like we ended 2015 with a win!!! I’d also like to personally thank all of the volunteers that have helped this week by giving their time to clearing the Traeth and preparing sand bags recently for the expected bad weather, myself, the staff and the players are all very much appreciative of all the hard work that has been going on. Thank you. COME ON PORT, Paps 29/12/15 Clirio eto / Cleaning-up again Unwaith eto mae’r llifogydd wedi gadael y clwb ac anferth o dasg o glirio. Maer Clubhouse wedi dioddef eto ac mae’r niwed a achoswyd yr un mor ddrwg â’r hyn a ddigwyddodd bythefnos yn ôl ac o ganlyniad mae’n rhaid sychu a glanhau unwaith yn rhagor. Gyda’r rhagolygon am mwy o law trwm bu grwp o wirfoddolwyr wrthi heddiw yn llenwi bagiau tywod er mwyn ceisio osgoi niwed pellach. Dymuna swyddogion ddiolch i’r gwirfoddolwyr am eu parodrwydd i helpu gan obeithio y bydd eu gwaith caled yn llwyddiant. The floods have once again left the club with a huge clean-up job, with the Clubhouse once again suffering damage similar to that of just a fortnight ago and another drying out operation is now in progress. With more heavy rain forecast a group of volunteers have spent much of today preparing sandbags to prevent further potential flood damage. The club wishes to thank those who have volunteered today and hope that their hard work will ensure that any further damage can be prevented. 29/12/15 Dinbych pnawn Sadwrn / Denbigh on Saturday Ar ôl dipyn o ddryswch cadarnhawyd heddiw bydd Port yn ymweld â Dinbych pnawn Sadwrn nesaf (2 Ionawr) ar gyfer gêm gynghrair wedi’i hadrefnu. Roedd yr 2 Ionawr i fod yn Sadwrn rhydd ac o ganlyniad roedd y chwaraewyr yn rhydd i wneud trefniadau personol. Yn hwyr yn y dydd mae hyn wedi’i newid ac o ganlyniad bydd rhaid i Port chwarae’r gêm heb eu carfan gryfaf. After much confusion it has now been confirmed that Port will visit Denbigh on Saturday 2 January) for a re-arranged league fixture. The 2 January had originally been designated as a free date and accordingly players were free to make other personal arrangements. Now very late in the day this fixture has been confirmed and as a consequence Port will have to complete the fixture without a full squad. 27/12/15 Dim gêm Caergybi oherwydd llifogydd / Floods cause Holyhead game called off Yn anffodus, gan fod llifogydd difrifol wedi effeithio ar y Traeth dros nos, bydd rhaid gohirio y gêm yn erbyn Hotspur Caergybi fory. Ar hyn o bryd mae swyddogion y clwb yn asesu'r difrod ond yn sicr mae hyn yn newyddion siomedig iawn - yn arbennig ar ôl yr holl waith i lanhau ac atgyweirio ar ôl y llifogydd ynghynt yn y mis. Sadly, tomorrow's match against Holyhead Hotspur is postponed after the Traeth suffered severe flooding for the second time in less than a month. Club officials are still assessing the damage but the floods come as a body-blow, particularly considering the huge clean-up effort following the previous floods. 24/12/15 Neges Nadolig Craig / Craig’s Christmas Wishes Dyma neges Nadolig wrth ein rheolwr Craig Papirnyk: A message at Christmas from our manager Craig Papirnyk: “I would just like to take this opportunity to wish everyone involved with the club , the Committee & all of the volunteers , the players , the management staff and those who supports us a very Merry Christmas , I hope everyone has a wonderful day and happy holidays! “Santa will be calling a little later than normal for us but I hope he brings the 3pts on Monday the 28th against Holyhead. “Asa Hamilton will return to the squad after missing the Mold tie through suspension as well as Ste Bratt (through work) so the only absentee is Leon Newell who is still struggling with his knee . It will certainly be another difficult game for us but we are in fine form and we will go in to the game with confidence and look to continue the unbeaten run that we are on and end the 2015 year with a win! “ Come on Port !! Merry Christmas & God Bless Diolch / Thanks Paps 24/12/15 Caergybi nesa / Hotspurs next-up Caergybi fydd yn ymweld â’r Traeth ar Llun yr Wyl, 28 Rhagfyr. Gyda’r ddau glwb yn eistedd yng nghanol y tabl â’r ddau ar 22 o bwyntiau medrwn ddisgwyl gêm agos fel sydd arfer digwydd rhwng y ddau. Yn y gêm ynghynt yn y tymor, cyfartal oedd y sgôr wrth i gic o’r smotyn gan Josh Davies unioni’r sgôr wedi’ i Damian Ketley sgorio gôl gynnar i Gaergybi. Bydd Port yn chwilio am eu pedwerydd buddugoliaeth yn olynol yn dilyn tair buddugoliaeth o 2-1. Yn y gemau yma roedd y tywydd a chyflwr y caeau yn gofyn am ymdrech fawr gan y chwaraewyr a pharodrwydd hefyd i frwydro’n galed am y pwyntiau mewn cynghrair heb yr un gêm hawdd. Colli yn Gresffordd oedd hanes Caergybi wythnos ddiwethaf, ac maent wedi ennill un o’u chwe gêm ddiwethaf gyda dwy yn gyfartal ond mae’r rhediad yma yn cynnwys buddugoliaeth yng Nghegidfa a gêm gyfartal di-sgôr yn erbyn Caernarfon. Eu camp fwyaf yn ddiweddar oedd buddugoliaeth wych dros Bangor yng Nghwpan Cymru a dymunwn yn dda i Campbell a’i dîm yn erbyn Y Bala yn y rownd nesaf. Cymrwch doriad o’r gwledda a dewch lawr i’r Traeth i gefnogi’r hogiau. C’mon Port! Holyhead Hotspurs will be the visitors to the Traeth on Holiday Monday, 28 December. With both teams in mid-table and both on 22 pts we can expect a close contest as games between the two clubs usually are. When the two clubs met earlier in the season it ended one each with a Josh Davies penalty levelling after Damian Ketley had given Hotspur an early lead. Port come into the game on a good run of three straight wins, all by the same 2-1 margin. Played in testing conditions these games have required a considerable amount of commitment and a willingness to battle in what is turning out to be a tough league with few if any easy games. Hotspurs suffered a defeat at Gresford last Saturday and have won once and drawn two of their last six games but that run includes a win at Guilsfield and a goalless draw against Caernarfon Town. Their most notable recent achievement, however, is that excellent Welsh Cup victory over Bangor City and we wish Campbell and his team well when they take on Bala Town in the next round. Take a break from the festivities and get down to the Traeth to support the boys. C’mon Port! 23/12/15 Adrefnu rhestr gemau / Fixture re-scheduling Cyhoeddwyd y canlynol ar wefan yr HGA ynglyn ag adrefnu’r gemau sydd wedi’u gohirio yn ystod y cyfnod eithriadol o wlyb a gafwyd yn diweddar. The HGA have released the following information regarding the rescheduling of fixtures resulting from the exceptional number of postponed fixtures. “Due to the fact that the Huws Gray Alliance has had over THIRTY of the original seasons fixtures postponed the fixtures for the second half of the season will be re-scheduled to fit in ALL the postponements. “Already this season the total number of games lost is higher than the total number of games lost during the whole of season 2014/15. “The season was originally due to finish on March 19th but it will now go well into April and either longer if there are more postponements. “At this stage last season the minimum number of games played by any club was sixteen this season thirteen this is the maximum played by any club. “Some clubs had played eighteen games at this stage last season, this season some have only played thirteen “Fixtures will, as always, be confirmed monthly. “Success of the leagues clubs also a knock on effect to the league fixtures - FOUR clubs are through to the next round of the Welsh Cup and Denbigh Town have reached the Welsh Premier WORD cup final. - Good luck to them ALL.” 23/12/15 Newid rheolwr Ail-dîm / Change of Reserves manager Cyhoeddodd y clwb heddiw ei bod wedi diswyddo Daniel Ashby fel rheolwr yr Ail-dîm. Mae’r clwb yn diolch i Dan am ei ymroddiad yn ail sefydlu Ail-dîm y clwb. Dywedodd swyddog ar ran y clwb heddiw, “Byddai’n deg dweud heblaw am ymdrechion Dan ni fyddai wedi bod yn bosibl i sefydlu’r Ail-dîm.” Mae’r clwb am ddiolch i Dan a dymuno’r gorau iddo at y dyfodol. Bydd yna gyhoeddiad buan ynglyn ag apwyntiad newydd i gymryd gofal o’r ail-dîm. The club has announced today that reserve team manager Daniel Ashby has been relieved of his duties. The club wish to place on record their thanks to Dan for thework he has put in to re-establishing a reserve team at the Traeth. A club official said today “It would be fair to say that without Dan’s efforts it would not have been possible to set up a reserve side.” The club wishes Dan all the very best for the future. An announcement will be made very soon regarding a new appointment to take charge of the reserves. 20/12/15 Adrefnu gêm / Fixture change Mae gwefan y Gynghrair wedi cyhoeddi newid dyddiad yn y gêm yn erbyn Dinbych i’r 2ail o Ionawr. Ond sylwer nid yw’r penderfyniad wedi’i gadarnhau eto gan na fu unrhyw drafod gyda’r ddau glwb ynglyn â’r penderfyniad. The League website has announced that the away game at Denbigh has been switched to the 2nd January. However this date is yet to be confirmed as neither club has yet been consulted. 17/12/15 Gêm Ail-dîm heno / Reserves play tonight Bydd yr Ail-dîm yn chwarae Ail-dîm Blaenau Ffestiniog ar Y Traeth heno am 7.30pm. Gêm Cwpan Craig Bragdy fydd hon. The Reserves play Blaenau Ffestiniog Res tonight at the Traeth kick off 7.30pm in a Craig Bragdy Cup-tie. 17/12/15 Y Wyddgrug nesa’ / Mold Alex next-up Wedi imi sgwennu rhagolwg byr i ddwy gêm a gafodd eu gohirio o ganlyniad i’r tywydd difrifol diweddar rhaid byw mewn gobaith y cawn gêm pnawn Sadwrn ym Mharc Alun, Y Wyddgrug. Dylai’r cefnogwyr sy’n bwriadu teithio i’r Wyddgrug nodi bydd y gic gyntaf am 2 o’r gloch. Bydd y clybiau i gyd yn gobeithio gweld pêl-droed yn ôl pnawn Sadwrn. Daeth y glaw mawr ar amser drwg i Port yn dilyn dwy fuddugoliaeth yn olynol dros Conwy a Bwcle a torri ar y cyfnod siomedig cynt. Mae’r Wyddgrug wedi bod drwy gyfnod siomedig hefyd yn sicrhau un pwynt yn unig o’u chwe gêm ddiwethaf. Ar y llaw arall roedd eu buddugoliaeth ddiwethaf yn un swmpus o 7-1 yn Llanfair. Ar yn o bryd maent dri safle o’r gwaelod ac yn siwr o frwydro’n galed i symud i fyny’r tabl. Mae cnewyllyn tîm llynedd yn dal ar gael i’r rheolwr Sean Rogers felly allwn ddisgwyl brwydr galed fel arfer. Ar ein ymweliad diwethaf cafwyd gêm gyfartal diolch i gôl hwyr Iwan Lewis. After writing a short preview for two games which fell victim of the atrocious weather let’s try a third time in the hope that Alyn Park, Mold will be playable on Saturday. Supporters should note that this game will kick off at 2.00pm and not the usual 2.30pm start. All clubs will be eager to start playing again. The rains were certainly untimely for Port coming as they did just at when we had just come out of a poor run and picked up six points in two straight wins over Conwy and Buckley. The Alex have struggled recently picking up just one point from their last six games but on the other hand their last win was a bumper7-1 win away at Llanfair. They now occupy the third from bottom place in the table and will be looking to pick up points to move out of the bottom three. They have the same nucleus of players as last season so we can expect the usual stern test. On the last visit to Alyn Park the game ended all square thanks to a late Iwan Lewis equaliser. 16/12/15 A.S. i godi problem Llifogydd / M.P. to raise Flood problem Yn yr Herald ceir adroddiad am alwad Liz Saville Roberts, AS Dwyfor Meirionnydd, i gael adolygiad i systemau amddiffyn yn erbyn llifogydd ym Mhorthmadog. Mae hyn yn dilyn y llifogydd difrifol a gafwyd yn diweddar, ac mae’n galw am fesurau llymach. Mae hyn yn dilyn cyfarfod gyda Phil Jones, cadeirydd Port, a gyda Rob Madog Jones. Bwriad Liz Saville Roberts ydy codi’r mater gyda Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru er mwyn gwella’r sefyllfa. Dywedodd, “Mae yna gonsyrn fod y llifogydd ar Y Traeth ac yn y Clwb Chwaraeon yn gwaethygu’n flynyddol.” Mae’n pwysleisio’r angen i ddarganfod os digwyddiad prin ydy hwn, neu oes yna angen cymryd camau i’w rhwystro rhag digwydd eto. The Herald has reported the Dwyfor Meirionnydd MP, Liz Saville Roberts’ call for a multi-agency review into drainage and flood defence systems in Porthmadog. This follows the recent severe flooding and she is calling for tougher measures. This comes after a meeting with Port chairman, Phil Jones and with Rob Madog Jones. Liz Saville Roberts intends to raise the matter with Natural Resources Wales with the aim of alleviating the problem. She says, “There are real concerns that floods at Y Traeth and Porthmadog Sports Club are worsening year on year.” She emphasises that there is a need to know whether these events are a one-off or whether there are steps that can be taken which will ensure that will prevent these things happening again. 12/12/15 Gohirio gêm ar y Traeth / Caersws game OFF Bu’n rhaid gohirio’r gêm ar y Traeth heddiw oherwydd y tywydd. Pyllau o ddwr yn sefyll ar y cae. Today’s game at the Traeth against Caersws has had to be postponed due to the weather. There are pools of standing water on the pitch. 12/12/15 Gohirio gêm Ail-dîm / Reserves game OFF Mae’r gêm Ail-dîm yn Llanrug wedi’i gohirio oherwydd y dwr ar y cae. Today’s Reserves League match at Llanrug has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. 11/12/15 Diweddaraf am y Cae / Pitch Update Fel y mae ar y funud, mae’r cae ar Y Traeth yn hollol barod am gêm ac wedi bod ers canol wythnos. Ond yr unig boen ydy’r rhagolygon am ddydd Sadwrn. Gobeithio na fydd y glaw mor drwm â’r penwythnos diwethaf! Y cyngor ydy cadwch lygad ar y rhagolygon a byddwn yn Trydar y diweddaraf ac yn ei roi ar y wefan. As things stand the Traeth pitch is perfectly playable and has been since midweek. However the forecast for Saturday is not great but hopefully will not be a repeat of last week’s torrent. The advice is to keep an eye on the forecast and we will update on Twitter and the website. 10/12/15 Hen Gefnogwr yn cofio / Memories of past floods Roedd yn dda derbyn yr e-bost hwn oddi wrth yr Hen Gefnogwr, sef cyfrannwr cyson i dudalen drafod y wefan cyn i’r Trydar gymryd ei le. Mae’r llifogydd wedi dod ag atgofion. Dyma ddywedodd yn yr e-bost: “Drwg clywed fod yr hen Draeth wedi boddi’r clwb eto, ond llongyfarchiadau i bawb sydd wedi rhoi hwb i’r pwyllgor i wneud y cae yn barod at ddydd Sadwrn. Dwi’n cofio fel plentyn flynyddoedd yn ôl fod y Traeth yn llifo’n aml iawn. Fysa wal ugain troedfedd ddim yn dal y dwr yn ôl - mae’r llanw’n dod i fyny o dan y tir! ‘Roedd seleri Chapel Street hyd yn oed yn llifo pob llanw mawr. Dwi’n byw yng nghanoldir Lloegr ers blynyddoedd ond fydda i’n dilyn canlyniad Port pob wythnos. Daliwch ati hogia a pob lwc dydd Sadwrn - mae’n hen amser i ni ennill yn erbyn Caersws!” Yr Hen Gefnogwr. (E. Jones) The above is an e-mail received from Hen Gefnogwr (a fan of long standing) who was a regular contributor to the Discussion page of our website. The recent flooding has brought back memories of past floods. Hen Gefnogwr remains a keen follower of the club despite living in the English Midlands. 10/12/15 Caersws nesa’ / Caersws next-up Efallai mae'r peth pwysicaf ynglyn â gêm pnawn Sadwrn ydy ei bod hi’n debygol o gael ei chwarae.! Dyna ichi gae ydy’r Traeth –llyn ar ddydd Sul ond yn barod am gêm erbyn canol yr wythnos! Rhyfeddol ac yn fawr o syndod fod y llawer o gefnogwyr ddim am weld cae 3G yma r unrhyw gyfri. Yn ôl at y gêm ei hun a chroeso i’r Traeth i’n cyfeillion o Gaersws. Mae wedi bod yn dymor o ganlyniadau annisgwyl ond y sioc pennaf ydy fod Caersws ar waelod y tabl ar ôl chwarae 14 o gemau. Byddai neb wedi rhagweld hyn ar ddechrau’r tymor. Dim ond dwy gêm mae Caersws wedi’u hennill yn ystod y tymor hwn a rhaid mynd yn ôl i ddiwedd Awst a dechrau Medi i ganfod rhain. Ers hynny buont ar rhediad diflas yn colli 10 gêm yn olynol. Er hynny rhaid cofio fod y ffin rhwng ennill a cholli yn denau iawn. O un gôl y collwyd yn erbyn Prestatyn, sy’n ail yn y tabl, ac o’r un sgôr yn erbyn y Derwyddon sydd ar ben y gynghrair. Daw yna ddiwedd i’r rhediad yma’n fuan mae’n siwr –ond nid ddydd Sadwrn gobeithio! Bydd Craig Papirnyk, a fu’n arwain y clirio ar y Traeth, yn edrych i’r gwelliant yng nghanlyniadau Port i barhau ac mae yna rheswm tu ôl i’r optimistiaeth wrth i fwy o chwaraewyr ddychwelyd ar ôl anafiadau. C’mon Port! Perhaps the most important thing about Saturday’s game against Caersws is that it is likely to be played at all. What a wonderful pitch we have at the Traeth –a lake on Sunday playable by midweek; truly amazing. It is not a surprise therefore that some club stalwarts say, “3G over my dead body.” Back to the actual game and we welcome our friends at Caersws to the Traeth. This has been a season of unpredictability in the Cymru Alliance but the biggest shock of all, and not one any of us could have foreseen, is that 14 games into their season Caersws would be at the foot of the table. But the facts are that Caersws have won only twice this season and for those we have to go back to late August and early September. Since then they have been on a dismal run of ten straight defeats. But often the margins between winning and losing are small and worth remembering that they lost their last game by a single goal against second placed Prestatyn, having earlier lost by a similar margin to league leaders Cefn Druids. Caersws will break out of their run of poor results sooner rather than later but let’s hope it’s not on Saturday! Craig Papirnyk, who led the Traeth clean-up from the front, will now turn his attention to a continuation of the club’s improved form and though not taking anything for granted, with injured players returning to fitness, there are reasons for optimism at the Traeth. C’mon Port! 09/12/15 Busnesau’n cefnogi’r sychu / Local business support clear-up Y newyddion da o’r Traeth y bore ’ma yw fod y gwelliant graddol yn mynd yn ei flaen gyda’r cadeirydd, Phil Jones yn cyhoeddi, “Bydd y gêm yn erbyn Caersws pnawn Sadwrn yn mynd yn ei blaen.” Unwaith eto mae gallu’r Traeth i oresgyn stormydd a llifogydd yn ein rhyfeddu. Yn ogystal a diolch i unigolion am eu cefnogaeth a’u parodrwydd i helpu roedd Phil yn awyddus iawn i ddiolch i gwmnïau lleol am eu cefnogaeth. Wrth un o’n prif noddwyr ,sef Rheilffordd Ffestiniog ac Eryri, cafwyd cynigion am pob cefnogaeth o fewn eu gallu gan gynnwys pobl i helpu efo’r clirio. Yn yr un modd cysylltodd y Tesco lleol gan gynnig aelodau o’u gweithlu ac offer i gynorthwyo yn y gwaith. Cafwyd offer pwrpasol gan gwmni Travis Perkins, gan gynnwys sychwyr mawr ac offer tynnu tamprwydd sydd wedi bod yn bwysig wrth gesio sychu’r Clubhouse Meddai Phil Mae’r ymateb cyffredinol, y cynigion o gymorth a’r dymuniadau da o’r gymuned bêl-droed a tu allan wedi bod yn rhyfeddol ac yn codi calon pawb ar adeg anodd.” The good news from the Traeth this morning is that the steady improvement continues with the chairman Phil Jones declaring, “Saturday’s game against Caersws will go ahead.” The remarkable recovery powers of the Traeth pitch continue to astound us! In addition to thanking individuals for their support and offers of help, Phil was also unstinting in his praise for the support the club have received from local companies. One of our main sponsors, the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway were quick off the mark offering any support they could, including manpower if needed to assist with the clearing up. Similarly the local Tesco store was prepared to offer the services of members of staff as well as equipment. Travis Perkins responded by sending down large drying equipment and dehumidifiers which have proved extremely valuable in tackling the immediate drying out problems. “I have been overwhelmed by the general response, the offers of assistance, the kind thoughts and the good wishes both within the football community and from outside,” said Phil. 08/12/15 Croeso Lindsay / Welcome Lindsay Mae Craig Papirnyk yn croesawu aelod newydd i’w staff sef Lindsay Morris sydd yn ffisiotherapydd chwaraeon. “Roedd yn bresennol yn y gêm yn Bwcle, meddai Craig, ac hefyd yn yr ymarfer diwethaf lle bu’n rhoi triniaeth i’r chwaraewyr. Mae’n ychwanegiad gwych i’r staff a bydd yn helpu i gynnal ffitrwydd y chwaraewyr a gobeithio bydd hyn yn lleihau anafiadau yn y dyfodol.” Un o Wrecsam ydy Lindsay a bu’n cymhwyso yng ngholegau Warrington a St Helens. Ar hyn o bryd mae’n astudio Ymarfer Personol yn Warrington a cynt bu’n gweithio gyda chlwb Bae Colwyn. Yn ogystal bu’n helpu yn adran ffisiotherapi clwb Wrecsam. Er waetha’r llifogydd mae’r sioe yn mynd yn ei blaen ac estynnwn groeso cynnes iawn i Lindsay ac hefyd dymuno iddi Ben-blwydd Hapus! Craig Papirnyk welcomes a new addition to his staff. She is Lindsay Morris a sports massage therapist. “She was at the Buckley game, said Craig and attended training last week where she was able to treat the players. She is a great addition to the back room staff and will help maintain the lads’ fitness, which will hopefully reduce future injuries.” Lindsay is from Wrexham and qualified at Warrington Collegiate and St Helens College. She is currently studying Personal Training at Warrington Collegiate and previously worked at Colwyn Bay FC. In addition she helps out in the physiotherapy department at Wrecsam FC. Despite the floods the show still goes on and we as a club extend the warmest of welcomes to Lindsay and a happy birthday too! 07/12/15 Newyddion gwell / Better news Er gwaetha'r pryderon gwreiddiol, rydym yn falch o gyhoeddi fod y newyddion diweddaraf o’r Traeth yn fwy calonogol. Ar hyn o bryd mae’r clwb yn y broses o asesu'r sefyllfa a phenderfynu ar y camau nesaf. Mae’r trydan yn gweithio ac felly y gwres ymlaen yn y clubhouse - ac hefyd y sychwyr yn dechrau ar y gwaith o sychu allan. Mae’r boeler hefyd yn iawn ond bydd angen sylw proffesiynol ar y carpedi. "Yn fwy na dim" meddai’r cadeirydd Phil Jones "rwyf am ddiolch yn fawr i'r gymuned leol a'r gymuned bêl-droed ehangach am yr holl gynigion o gymorth a'r negeseuon yn dymuno'n dda i'r clwb. Mae nifer o'r rhain wedi dod o bell ac agos ac mae'r clwb yn eu gwerthfawrogi'n fawr" Ychwanegodd Phil. "Mae’r dŵr yn mynd i lawr ond yn arafach na’r disgwyl ond er hynny rwy’n dal i obeithio bydd y gêm yn mynd yn ei blaen pnawn Sadwrn". Despite the original concerns, we are pleased the news from the Traeth is better than at first feared. At present the club is in the process of assessing the situation and deciding on the next steps. An examination of the damage has revealed that basic utilities like electricity have come through the storm more or less unscathed. The heating is on in the clubhouse and dehumidifiers already in use commencing the drying out process. The boiler is also OK. The carpets are of course extremely wet and will need professional treatment. "Above all else" said chairman Phil Jones "I would like to thank the local community and the wider football community for their messages of support and offers of assistance. Many of these offers have come from far and wide and they are much appreciated by the club." Phil adds "The water is receding but more slowly than I had hoped but I remain hopeful that Saturday’s game will still go ahead". 06/12/15 Dim Bingo / Bingo Off Ni fydd yn bosib cynnal y sesiwn Bingo arferol nos yfory (nos Lun) yn y Clwb oherwydd y llifogydd. The Monday Night Bingo session to be held tomorrow evening has been postponed as a result of the flooding at the Traeth. 06/12/15 Llifogydd ar Y Traeth / Floods at the Traeth Daeth problemau niferus i CPD Porthmadog o ganlyniad i’r tywydd difrifol a gafwyd ddydd Sadwrn. Roedd y cae o dan ddwr. Meddai’r cadeirydd Phil Jones, “Roedd y cae yn gyfan gwbl o dan ddwr heb yr un blewyn o wair yn y golwg. Er i’r cae ddioddef llifogydd sylweddol yn 2005 mae’r tro yma yn llawer gwaeth. Rhaid aros tan ‘fory cyn y byddwn yn medru gweld maint y broblem yn iawn.” Mae Clwb y Traeth a’r ystafelloedd newid wedi cael difrod o ganlyniad i’r dwr. Mae’r bar, y selar â’r toiledau i gyd wedi dioddef gyda’r carped yn y clwb wedi ei ddifetha’n llwyr. Mae’r peiriant oeri a’r boeler hefyd wedi’u heffeithio. Roedd yna lanw uchel tua 5am a hyn, yn ogystal a’r glaw difrifol, aeth a’r sefyllfa i’r fan lle roedd difrod yn cael ei achosi. Ychwanegodd Phil, “Roedd yna droedfedd o ddwr yn y clwb, gan gyrraedd dros lefel y sgyrtin ac roedd yr un fath yn yr ystafelloedd newid.” Mae pawb yn y clwb yn eithriadol o siomedig o gofio’r holl waith sydd wedi cymryd lle ar Y Traeth yn ddiweddar er mwyn gwella cyfleusterau. The atrocious weather has brought with it huge problems for Porthmadog FC as the Traeth ground has been submerged. The chairman Phil Jones reported, “The entire pitch was under water with not a blade of grass in sight. The ground suffered considerable flooding in 2005 but this time it is far worse. We will not be able to assess the damage fully until an inspection is carried out tomorrow.“ Both the clubhouse and the dressing rooms have suffered water damage. The bar, cellar and toilets have all suffered with the clubhouse carpet obviously a write off. Both the cooler and the boiler have also been affected. There was a high tide at about 5 am and this coupled with the torrential rain took the flood to a level where damage has been caused. Phil adds, “There was a foot of water in the clubhouse, reaching a level above the skirting and it was just the same in the changing rooms.“ All at the club are extremely disappointed in view of the upgrading that has taken place at the ground in recent years. 05/12/15 Gohirio’r gêm / Game off Mae’r gêm heddiw yn Rhaeadr wedi’i gohirio gyda neges drydar y clwb yn dweud, “weather conditions force postponement #wet #windy #jelly.” Diolch i Rhaeadr am eu penderfyniad buan sydd yn cael ei werthfawrogi gan ein chwaraewyr, swyddogion a cefnogwyr Today’s game at Rhayader has been postponed. Their tweet says “weather conditions force postponement #wet #windy #jelly” Thanks to Rhayader for an early decision which is much appreciated by players, officials And supporters. 04/12/15 Nadolig wrth y drws / Christmas is coming Os ydych yn edrych am anrheg Nadolig i’ch hoff ffan pêl-droed ewch i’n Siop Ar-lein. Nigel and Rose look forward to providing a quick and efficient service. 03/12/15 Gohirio gêm heno / Reserves game OFF Bu’n rhaid gohirio’r gêm ar Y Traeth heno (3 Rhagfyr) rhwng yr Ail-dîm ag Ail-dîm Glan Conwy. Tonight’s (3 December) Reserves game at the Traeth against Glan Conwy Res has been postponed. 02/12/15 Rhaeadr nesa’ / Rhayader next-up ![]() Ymweliad gan Rhaeadr a gychwynnodd y tymor hwn a chreu rhywfaint o syndod wrth iddynt sicrhau y tri phwynt. Yn ddigon eironig Asa Hamilton sgoriodd yr unig gôl yn y gêm honno ond bellach mae Asa yn rhan o bartneriaeth beryg yn y blaen dros Port gyda Josh Davies. Ers y fuddugoliaeth honno dim ond un gêm –yn erbyn Llanfair- mae Rhaeadr wedi eu hennill. Yn eu 5 gêm ddiwethaf mae’r clwb o’r canolbarth wedi ildio 27 o goliau gan gynnwys 7 yn erbyn Caernarfon, a 6 yn erbyn Prestatyn a hefyd Cegidfa. Ar hyn o bryd maent yn ail o waelod y tabl wedi iddynt ennill ond dwy, a chael un gêm gyfartal o’u 13 o gemau. Byddant felly yn awyddus iawn i godi pwyntiau. Ar eu hymweliad diwethaf â’r Weirglodd sicrhaodd Port fuddugoliaeth swmpus o 4-1 gyda Gruff Williams, Josh Davies, Stuart Rogers a James Papirnyk yn sgorio. Byddai mwy o’r un fath yn dderbyniol iawn! C’mon Port! If the weather relents after causing chaos in the mid-Wales area during the past few days, Port will travel to Rhayader on Saturday. With Welsh Cup ties being played this weekend, this game will be one of only two league fixtures scheduled for Saturday. Port will go into this game looking for a third straight victory having brought to an end a poor run of results and will now be looking to push ahead and continue the climb up the table. Rhayader were visitors to the Traeth for the opening fixture of the season and caused something of an upset by leaving with all three points. Ironically the only goal of the game was scored by Asa Hamilton who is now with Port and developing a dangerous front partnership with Josh Davies. Since that opening day victory Rhayder have won only once, at home to Llanfair United. In their last five games the mid-Wales club have conceded 27 goals including 7 against Caernarfon and six each to Prestatyn and Guilsfield. They currently find themselves in the relegation places with two wins and a draw from their 13 league matches and will be a club desperately looking to pick up points. On their last visit to the Weirglodd Port gained a convincing 4-1 victory with the goals coming from Gruff Williams, Josh Davies, Stuart Rogers and James Papirnyk. A repeat on Saturday would be more than welcomed. C’mon Port! 29/11/15 Canlyniad Ail-dîm / Reserves result Gêm gyfartal 1-1 gafodd yr Ail-dîm yn erbyn Ail-dîm Blaenau ddoe ar Y Traeth mewn gêm Gynghrair Ail-dimau’r Welsh Alliance. Sgoriwr port oedd Gwydion Ifan sy’n dod yn ôl i ffitrwydd yn dilyn anaf i linyn y gar a’i rhwystrodd rhag chwarae am nifer o wythnosau. Tom Williams oedd sgoriwr Blaenau. Sylw y rheolwr dan Ashby oedd, “Ni wnaeth rheoli’r gêm ac roeddwn yn siomedig i gael ond un pwynt.” Gêm nesaf yr Ail-dîm fydd ar ddydd Sadwrn, 12 Rhagfyr yn Llanrug. 2.00pm. The Reserves drew their Welsh Alliance Reserve League game 1-1 yesterday at the Traeth against Blaenau Ffestiniog Res. Gwydion Ifan, who was continuing his recovery from a hamstring injury which has kept him out of action for several weeks, was the Port scorer. Tom Williams responded for Blaenau. Manager Dan Ashby commented, “We dominated the game and I was disappointed to only get a point.” The Reserves next match will be away at Llanrug on 12 December. KO 2.00pm. 28/11/15 Tote mis Tachwedd / November Tote ![]() The Winning Numbers in the Porthmadog Football Social Club Monthly Tote for November were 28 + 32. Subject to confirmation there were No Winners, and therefore the prize £315 will be added to the December total. Any claims must be made by 8pm on Friday 4th December. The January Tote will be drawn on Friday 1st January at the weekly Porthmadog F C Social Club Bingo held at Y Ganolfan. 26/11/15 Dychwelyd i Fangor / Back to Bangor Mae Craig Papirnyk wedi mynegi ei ddiolch i’r amddiffynnwr Iolo Hughes am ei gyfraniad i’r clwb tra ar fenthyg ar Y Traeth, gan ychwanegu, “Rwy’n dymuno dda i Iolo at y dyfodol.” Bellach mae Iolo yn dychwelyd i Fangor. Yn ystod ei gyfnod gyda’r clwb chwaraeodd 9 o gemau yng nghanol yr amddiffyn gan sgorio ddwywaith. Diolch a phob lwc Iolo. Craig Papirnyk has thanked defender Iolo Hughes for his contribution to the club during his period on loan at the Traeth, adding, “I wish him well in the future.” Iolo has now returned to Bangor City. During his stay with the club he made 9 appearances in central defence and scoring twice. Thanks and best wishes Iolo. 25/11/15 Bwcle nesa’ / Next opponents: Buckley ![]() Bydd Port yn ceisio adeiladu ar y fuddugoliaeth dros Conwy y Sadwrn diwethaf pan cafwyd dwy gôl o fantais yn gynnar yn y gêm. Roedd y perfformiad hwn yn dilyn ail hanner da yn Y Fflint wythnos ynghynt. Cawn obeithio gweld y ddau hanner yn dod at eu gilydd y tro yma, gyda perfformiad cyflawn am 90 munud. Os bydd hyn yn digwydd cawn weld Port yn dechrau dringo’r tabl. C’mon Port! On Saturday Port are due to travel to the Globe Way at Buckley for a league match. It gets repetitive to say that our opponents are something of a bogey side, as Port have not recorded a victory against them since dropping out of the WPL. Last season the Flintshire club did the double over Port with 2-1 score lines on both occasions. Buckley currently lie one place below Port in the table. Last Saturday they suffered a heavy home defeat at the hands of Guilsfield and like Port are not on their best run of form winning only one of their last six league fixtures. The club have been well served this season by striker Lee Davey who has found the net on ten occasions while in midfield they again rely on the familiar names like Danny Sullivan and Kyle Reid in midfield. Port will look to build on the win over Conwy last Saturday where thanks to an excellent first half they built an early two goal advantage. This performance followed on an excellent first half at Flint the previous week. So here’s hoping the two halves come together this week for a complete 90 minute performance. If this happens we can look forward to start closing the gap on the teams above in the table. C’mon Port! 18/11/15 Conwy pnawn Sadwrn / Next opponents: Conwy Borough ![]() Er i Port golli yn Y Fflint byddant yn siwr o gael hyder o’u perfformiad ail hanner yn brwydro ‘nol o fod yn colli 3-0 ar yr hanner i wneud y sgôr yn 3-2 ar y diwedd, ac yn anlwcus i beidio rhannu’r pwyntiau. Roedd y perfformiad ail hanner gyda’r gorau a welwyd ers tro byd. Sgoriodd Eilir Edwards y ddwy gôl ac roedd ei berfformiad gyda’r gorau mewn crys Port. Roedd y cefnogwyr cartref yn edrych yn boenus bob tro roedd rhif 14 (sef Eilir!) yn cyffwrdd y bêl . Amdani Port ac ennill y 3 phwynt! The visitors to the Traeth on Saturday will be Conwy Borough. The club has parted company with manager Aden Shannon last week. The club has advertised for a new manager and in temporary charge of the club is first team coach Paul Braithwaite who promptly led them to a 3-1 home win over Caersws. Last season the Borough were very much under achievers finishing in a disappointing 11th place. Things have not improved much so far this season for this ambitious club and they lie in 11th place, level on points with Port but with a better goal difference. This game will therefore be between two clubs looking for much improved form and, when they meet at the Traeth on Saturday, both will need maximum points. Conwy’s last visit to the Traeth came in the last game of Port’s 2014/15 season when Conwy went down by 3-0. It was a comfortable win for Port against a young Conwy side with Cai Jones and Josh Davies (2) netting. A recent signing for the Borough is former Caernarfon defender Moses Barnett as well as dangerous attacker Toby Jones who rejoins his former club from Caernarfon Town. Brought in for his vast experience is the much travelled Ricky Evans who brings serious know-how to the squad. Port, though beaten 3-2 at Flint last time out, will take confidence from a second half performance which brought them back from 3-0 down at the interval to deserve a share of the points. That in the end eluded them but the performance over the 45 second half minutes was the best by a Port team for a considerable time. The form of Eilir Edwards, who scored both goals, was a major bonus and one of his very best performances in a Port shirt. Home supporters and players looked worried every time he touched the ball. C’mon Port let’s get the three points! 13/11/15 Dau yn ymuno /Two added to squad Mae Craig Papirnyk wedi ychwanegu dau chwaraewr at y garfan gyda’r cefnwr de Luke Jones yn ymuno o Derwyddon Cefn a’r amddiffynnwr canol Steve Bratt yn ymuno o’r Bermo. Bydd y ddau yn mynd yn syth i’r garfan ar gyfer y gêm yn erbyn Y Fflint. Am Luke mae Craig yn dweud, “Chwaraewr ugain oed â digonedd o ynni sydd wedi creu argraff wrth ymarfer ac yn ychwanegiad da ar gyfer y safle.” Am Steve meddai Craig, “Rwyf wedi ‘nabod Steve erioed, wedi chwarae efo fo ac wedi ei reoli yn Y Bermo. Felly dwi’n ei ‘nabod y dda. Mae’ amddiffynnwr hen ffasiwn, ddigyfaddawd ac yn 28 oed mae ganddo ddigon o brofiad. Bydd yn dod a rhywbeth gwahanol i’r amddiffyn, yn galed a ddi-lol. Mae yna newyddion hefyd am y rhestr anafiadau gyda Josh Davies yn cael chwarae tra yn aros i weld arbenigwr ynglyn a’i hernia. Mae Rob Evans a Gwydion Ifan yn agos at ddychwelyd a pan ddaw pawb yn ôl bydd pethau’n gwella ac ysbryd yn y garfan yn codi. Dywedodd Craig am y sefyllfa, “Gyda’r holl anafiadau mae’n bwysig i gryfhau’r garfan. Yn arbennig mae angen amddiffynwyr er nad oes unrhyw safle na chwaraewr o dan sylw gan ein bod yn ennill a cholli fel tîm. Ond bydd cael mwy o ddyfnder yn y garfan yn ein helpu i addasu i unrhyw sefyllfa sy’n codi . Rhaid inni wella fel tîm, di’r canlyniadau ddim yn ddigon da. Ond gyda chwaraewyr wedi’u anafu a charfan dibrofiad mae wedi bod yn gyfnod anodd. Ond rwy’n dal yn bositif ac yn credu yn y talent sydd yma. Mae digon o gemau yn weddill a mae datblygu’r garfan ifanc hon yn bwysig i ddyfodol y clwb.” Craig Papirnyk has added two new players to his squad extending a warm welcome to Luke Jones a right back who joins from Cefn Druids, and Steve Bratt a central defender joining from Barmouth FC. Both will go straight into the squad for tomorrow at Flint. Of Luke Craig says, “He’s a 20 year old who plays with plenty of energy and has impressed in training and will be a good addition to the position.” Regarding Steve, Craig comments, “I have known Steve for the whole of his life and played alongside him as well as managed him for Barmouth, so I know him well. He is a good old fashioned, no nonsense central defender, and at 28 he has plenty of playing experience and he will bring something completely different to our defence, he’s a stern , hard defender.” There is news of injured players with Josh Davies told he can resume playing while he awaits to see a consultant about his Hernia. Robert Evans and Gwydion Ifan are nearing a return so things will soon improve with the lift of players returning to the squad. Craig adds, “With all the injuries we have suffered of late it’s important to strengthen when needed. We particularly need defenders, although I will say that no individual or position is scrutinised by myself as we concede, win, lose and draw as a team. But having that extra depth in defence will help us adapt in different game situations. We know as a team we need to improve, The results have not been good enough by a long shot. With players missing and with having an inexperienced squad it has been testing times for us, but I remain positive and believe in the potential we have , we will improve things and we have plenty of games to do so between now and the end of the season . Developing this young squad together is important for the future of the club.” 11/11/15 Taith i Fflint / Flint: our next opponents ![]() Bydd Port yn edrych i dorri ar y rhediad gwael diweddar, ac yn sicr yn edrych i wella yn amddiffynnol ar ôl yr wythnos ddiwethaf. Ond daeth mwy o newyddion drwg wrth i Iolo Hughes frifo ac ail ymuno â’r rhestr hir o anafiadau. Ar nodyn fwy cadarnhaol roedd yn dda croesawu Josh Davies yn ôl a gweld fod ei giciau o’r smotyn yn dal mor gywir ac erioed. Eironi’r perfformiad Sadwrn diwethaf oedd y gallai Port fod tair gôl ar y blaen yn y chwarter awr gyntaf ond ffin denau iawn sydd rhwng ennill a cholli yn aml iawn. Dewch inni obeithio fydd ein lwc yn newid ddydd Sadwrn. Amdani Port! On Saturday Port will travel to Flint for the league match at Cae Castell. Flint are currently two places above Port in the table but crucially, 7 points better off. Flint are on a good run of form winning all of their last four games, recording victories over Buckley, Caersws, Llanfair and Mold Alex. Flint are now managed by Chris Herbert who has brought some experienced players to the club including former Nomads trio of James Petrie, Craig Jones and Mark McGregor, while he has retained key defenders John Hill and John Davies. Another player brought in at the start of the season is their leading scorer Kyle Smith with 7 goals. In general Port have gained favourable results at Cae Castell but on the last visit back in January suffered a 2-0 defeat. Port will be again looking to break out of the recent run of poor results and certainly look to improve on the defensive performance last week. There was further bad news though with Iolo Hughes rejoining the lengthy injury list. On a positive note it was good to see Josh Davies back and showing that he can still fire unerringly from the penalty spot. The irony of last Saturday against Prestatyn was that we could have been three up in the first 15 minutes but as ever the margins between winning and losing are often small. Let’s hope for a change of luck C’mon Port! 09/11/15 Dyddiad Newydd / New Date Cytunwyd ar ddyddiad newydd i’r gêm yng Nghwpan Ieuenctid Cymru rhwng Porthmadog Dan19 a Bangor Dan 19. Bydd y gêm yn cael ei chwarae ar Y Traeth ar nos Wener, 13 Tachwedd gyda’r gic gyntaf am 7.30pm.Gêm Ail-dîm Nos Iau 12 Tachwedd wedi’i gohirio A new date has been confirmed for the postponed FAW Youth Cup tie between Porthmadog U 19s and Bangor City U19s. Kick off 2pm. ** Update @ 12:00, 8/11/15 - CANCELLED DUE TO THE WEATHER ** 04/11/15 Prestatyn nesa’ / Prestatyn: our next opponents ![]() On Saturday Prestatyn Town will be the visitors to the Traeth with Port needing to get their season back on course after going out of the Welsh Cup last Saturday. Prestatyn on the other hand proceeded to the 3rd Round with a win at Llanfair United in a high scoring cup-tie. Prestatyn are in a good run of form and have moved into second place in the league table. The club had an excellent October winning all four of their league fixtures with their manager Neil Gibson picking up the manager of the month award. Port and Prestatyn have already met once this season in a league cup-tie at Bastion Gardens with Prestatyn running out winners thanks to a late goal in a 4-3 scoreline. On that day despite playing well and scoring three good goals Port were undone by an aerial onslaught using the height of their attackers to good effect. Prestatyn are the HGA’s leading scorers this season with 28 goals in 11 matches. Their leading scorers Alex Jones with 8 goals and Jack Kenny with six will again be a threat on Saturday. 01/11/15 Tote mis Hydref / October Tote ![]() Roedd un enillydd, hyn i'w gadarnhau, sef Llinos Marples, Penrhyn, yn ennill y wobr £330. Wel nid camp ydy hi sydd yn uniongyrchol yn ymwneud a chwaraeon ond mae Simon newydd ei goroni yn Bencampwr Byd am wneud Uwd. I ennill y teitl arbennig hwn roedd yn rhaid i Simon guro nifer o gystadleuwyr rhyngwladol. Teithiodd i bentref Carrbridge sydd yn Ucheldir yr Alban ar gyfer y gystadleuaeth ac i ganol arbenigwyr yn y maes o wneud Uwd. Rhaid i’r un sydd yn ennill wneud Uwd gorau’r gystadleuaeth allan o dri cynhwysyn yn unig: sef blawd ceirch, halen a dwr. Yn ogystal a’i arbenigedd mewn gwneud uwd mae Simon hefyd yn astroffisegwr sydd newydd gyflwyno ei draethawd hir ar gyfer doethuriaeth ym Mhrifysgol Manceinion. Llongyfarchiadau fil Simon ac edrychwn ymlaen i dy groesawu i’r Traeth yn fuan. Cewch ddarllen mwy am ei lwyddiant ar goldenspurtle.com a Facebook Port can now boast that they have a supporter who has been crowned World Champion. The champ is Simon Rookyard who, with his parents, Martin and Maria, are long time supporters of Porthmadog FC. Simon also shows his support by sponsoring both Richard Harvey and Iddon Price. What is his Sport? Well not quite a sport; Simon is the 2015 World Porridge Making Champion. He won the coveted title in a hotly contested competition against an international field. Simon travelled to the Highland village of Carrbridge in Scotland for the event to the very home of porridge making. The title of World Porridge Making Champion is awarded to the competitor who makes the best traditional porridge using only three ingredients – oatmeal, salt and water. In addition to his expertise in porridge making Simon is an astrophysicist, who recently handed in his PhD thesis at Manchester University. Congratulations Simon and we look forward to welcoming you to the Traeth again soon. You can read of his success on goldenspurtle.com & Facebook 28/10/15 Derwyddon nesa / Druids: our next opponents ![]() Bydd yn gêm anodd ond cafwyd perfformiad llawn cymeriad a gallu amddiffynnol gan Port pnawn Sadwrn diwethaf, er waethaf yr holl anafiadau. Roedd y gêm yn erbyn Treffynnon yn baratoad da iawn ar gyfer ymweld â’r Graig. Yn y rownd ddiwethaf curodd Y Derwyddon eu cymdogion o Gresffordd o 4-1, tra roedd Port yn curo Bow Street o 3-1 ond nid y gêm anodd hon oedd dymuniad yr un o’r ddau clwb wrth i’r enwau ddod o’r het ar gyfer Rownd 2. Its Welsh Cup Round 2 on Saturday and Port face a difficult away tie against Cefn Druids. It will be the second visit of the season to the Rock. Port produced their best performance so far this season to take all three points in the league fixture. Home form has been a problem for Druids recently losing three of their last four home games with defeats at the hands of Buckley, Denbigh and Guilsfield. Such form however is sure to mean that Huw Griffiths will have his players well primed for the Welsh Cup. Griffiths enjoyed success in this competition in 2011/12 leading the Druids to the final in that season and then on to Europe. He has an experienced squad with goal poacher Mike Pritchard and the tall figure of Dave Forbes at the front. Forbes benefits from the service of long throw specialist Adam Hesp while Matt Holt and keeper Adam McGee provide security at the back. It will be a tough tie but last Saturday’s performance by an injury hit Port squad was full of character and quality defending. It could well be the dress rehearsal that Port needed ahead of the visit to the Rock. In the last round Druids whipped neighbours Gresford 4-1 while Port defeated Bow Street 3-1 but this tough draw is hardly the reward either club was hoping for in Round 2. 22/10/15 Treffynnon nesa / Holywell: our next opponents ![]() Mae’n amhosib i gefnogwyr Port chwarae Treffynnon heb feddwl yn ôl i’r gêm yn wyth olaf Cwpan Cymru dau dymor yn ôl . O flaen torf fawr roedd lle yn y pedwar olaf yn aros yr enillydd ond trychineb i Port yn y funud olaf, camgymeriad yn y cefn a dyna lle roedd yr amddiffynnwr Dafydd Griffith dwy lathen allan o’r gôl yn rhoi’r fuddugoliaeth i Dreffynnon. Nid canlyniad i’w adael yn y gorffennol ydy hwn i gefnogwyr Port, mae’n dal i frifo. Pnawn Sadwrn bydd y ddau glwb yn cyfarfod am y tro cyntaf ers y diwrnod hwnnw. Next up at the Traeth on Saturday will be Holywell Town. With Port coming to this game on a poor run of results and with a growing injury list this might prove a very challenging fixture. Our visitors gained promotion from the Welsh Alliance at the end of last term following a season of outstanding success. They won the title by a margin of 15 points and in addition completed a famous treble winning the FAW Trophy and the Mawddach Challenge Cup as well. The club have as expected made an excellent start to life back in the Huws Gray Alliance and this despite losing key forward Sam Jones who switched to Bangor City in the summer. In place of Sam Jones they have brought in two proven goalscorers in former Rhyl and Caernarfon Town striker Steve Lewis and Dan Dazdrauskas who has played for several Flintshire clubs. The nucleus of the team which brought success last season has been retained. It is impossible for Port supporters to mention the name of Holywell Town without recalling that memorable or terrible day at the Halkyn Road Ground two seasons ago when the two clubs met in the Quarter Finals of the Welsh Cup. There in front of big crowd with all to play for and a place in the semi-final awaiting the winners but for Port disaster struck in the final minute an error at the back and the ball reaches defender Dafydd Griffith who is somehow a yard or two out from goal and he clinches Holywell’s place in the semi-final. The result is not a distant memory at the Traeth, it still rankles and still leaves supporters asking what might have been. Saturday will be the first meeting between the two clubs since that fateful day. 20/10/15 Gair neu ddau gan Paps / A word or two from Paps ![]() Following a series of poor results Crai Papirnyk offers a word of explanation for the club’s present situation and looks to better days ahead. The last month has been very difficult for us on the pitch; the results have not been what any of us have wanted!! In fact since the Druids away game we have not picked up any points which we all know isn’t good enough for the club, or by our own standards. Some of the performances haven’t been bad, some have!! I am not one for excuses and never shy away from speaking honestly and truthfully when giving my own opinion. It does feel like things are just not going our way of late, particularly in the injury department, Josh Davies (Hip Flexor), Rob Evans (Hamstring), Gwydion Ifan (Hamstring), Iolo Hughes (Knee) , Eilir Edwards (Shoulder Ligaments) and Leon Newell (Knee) are all side lined through injury , Ceri James is struggling with his fitness as he’s working away all week and this coming weekend we will be without Cai who is attending his brother’s wedding. Taking into consideration that there are 8 quality players all injured or missing at the moment is quite amazing and unlucky indeed!!! That’s no excuse, it’s a fact, all 8 of those players fit would be pushing to start in the 11. Obviously we are not the only club that goes through this, I just want the fans to know some of the difficult circumstances that we have to deal with at this time; the past month has been very hard. . But for me, It is not all doom and gloom when you take into consideration that we have all of these players to return, the future is brighter than it feels right now !! We have to remain positive as a club, the development of this side will continue and these experiences and tests we are having to deal with at this moment in time will only make us stronger going forward. On Saturday in Guilsfield we saw an electric start from us with new signing Asa Hamilton really impressing with his high energy play, we could’ve come in 3 to 4 up at half time, the injury to Leon was a bad one and he will be side lined for at least 4 weeks. Eilir who has been struggling with a shoulder ligament strain the past two weeks had to come on for us, young James Papirnyk returned but he has been struggling with shin splits along with myself on the bench. The lack of strength in depth is taking its toll and looking at the last 20mins in more recent games we are losing matches because we cannot change things like we normally could. Having a squad is very important and being able to adapt under different game situations is vital. I have no doubt we will turn our poor start around and it is still a long season to go. Take nothing away from Guilsfield they worked hard to get the win in the second half I do feel a point would’ve been just given the two half’s but it wasn’t to be for us !! We will remain positive and we will not allow any negativity of injuries or results get us down, we can only put things right and we will be looking to bounce back this weekend with a home win against Holywell. It is no doubt going to be another tough game but this is the business we are in, we want to win games, we want to be successful and to be so we must compete at this level week in week out. COME ON PORT !! The 2nd Round game will be played a t the Traeth on Sunday, 8 November. 15/10/15 Cegidfa nesa / Next opponents: Guilsfield Pnawn Sadwrn bydd Port yn teithio i Gegidfa ar gyfer gêm gynghrair. Y tymor diwethaf cawsant dymor llwyddiannus iawn gan orffen yn y 3ydd safle. Trwy gydol y tymor roedd eu amddiffyn cadarn yn eu gwneud yn dîm anodd i’w guro. Am y tymor hwn maent wedi penodi eu prif sgoriwr Danny Barton yn rheolwr. Mewn tymor lle mae pawb yn bygwth curo pawb, mae’r clwb o’r canolbarth hefyd wedi dioddef, gan golli adref yn eu ddwy gêm ddiwethaf. Collwyd o 4-0 yn erbyn Caernarfon ac 1-0 yn erbyn Conwy. Ond dros nifer o dymhorau mae Cegidfa wedi cadw at garfan reit gyson a bydd presenoldeb chwaraewyr fel James Henderson, Chris Cathrall, Gareth Jones ac Adam Jenkins yn sicrhau y byddant yn anodd i’w curo. Gemau tynn iawn fu y rhai diweddar rhwng y ddau glwb a’r tymor diwethaf di -sgôr oedd hi. Bydd Craig Papirnyk yn gobeithio gweld y chwaraewr newydd Asa Hamilton yn ychwanegu profiad i’r garfan a hefyd gweld lwc Port yn newid ar ôl colli eu 4 gêm gynghrair ers y fuddugoliaeth dros Y Derwyddon. On Saturday Port face a difficult away fixture at Guilsfield. Last season they finished in 3rd place in the table and throughout the season their strong determined defence made them a particularly difficult team to beat. This season they have appointed leading marksman Danny Barton as their manager. In a topsy turvey season the mid-Wales club in keeping with most other clubs have suffered a few recent setbacks losing their last two home games going down 4-0 to Caernarfon and 1-0 to Conwy but with so many shock results this season the form book has gone out of the window. Guilsfield have kept a consistent squad over a number of seasons and the presence of players like James Henderson, Chris Cathrall, Gareth Jones and Adam Jenkins will ensure they will always be a difficult team to beat. Recent matches between the two clubs have been tight affairs and last season’s encounter ended goalless. Craig Papirnyk will be looking to new signing Asa Hamilton to add some experience to his young team and hope this will bring a change of fortunes ending a run of 4 defeats since beating Cefn Druids at the Rock. 15/10/15 Gohirio gêm / Reserve Game OFF Mae gêm heno i’r Ail-dîm ar Y Traeth wedi’i gohirio. Gêm nesa i’r Ail-dîm fydd yn Blaenau Ffestiniog pnawn Sadwrn nesaf (17 Hydref) am 2.30pm Tonight’s Reserve game at the Traeth is OFF. Port Res will now play Blaenau Ffestiniog Res on Saturday (15 October) with a 2.30pm kick off. 14/10/15 Blaenwr newydd yn ymuno / Asa signs Ynghynt heddiw roedd Craig Papirnyk yn hapus iawn i gyhoeddi ei fod wedi arwyddo blaenwr newydd profiadol. “Heddiw rwyf wedi arwyddo Asa Hamilton o glwb Rhaeadr. Mae’n flaenwr cyflym, profiadol a fydd yn cynnig rhywbeth hollol newydd i’n chwarae ymosodol, mae hefyd y math o gymeriad fydd yn ffitio mewn yn syth. Rwy’n hapus iawn ei fod wedi ymuno, mae ganddo ddigonedd o brofiad ar y lefel yma, gan sgorio i bob clwb a chwaraeodd iddo ac y tymor yma mae wedi bod ar dân. Carwn ddiolch i glwb Rhaeadr am eu cydweithrediad arbennig gan adael i Asa ymuno yr wythnos hon. Daw Asa yn syth i’r garfan ar gyfer yr ymweliad â Chegidfa. Croeso Asa.” Manager Craig Papirnyk was delighted earlier today to report the signing of a new experienced forward. “I have today signed Asa Hamilton from Rhayader FC, he’s a quick, hard working forward who will offer something completely different in our attacking play, and he is also a top lad and will fit right in. I am delighted he has joined, he has huge experience at this level and has scored everywhere he has been, he’s also been in top form this season. I would like to thank Rhayader for allowing Asa to join this week, there co-operation has been fantastic. Asa will come straight into the squad for Saturday’s visit to Guilsfield. Welcome Asa.” 12/10/15 Rhaglen yn Datblygu / Match Programme a Good Buy Mae Rhaglen CPD Porthmadog, a enwyd yn Rhaglen y Tymor yng Nghynghrair Huws Gray am y tymor diwethaf, wedi gweld newidiadau pellach dros yr haf a hynny i’r cynnwys a’i ddiwyg. Am flynyddoedd band un dyn oedd Gerallt Owen wrth iddo roi’r rhaglen at ei gilydd ond bellach mae wedi cael cymorth grwp bychan o gyfranwyr a hynny yn cynnwys, yn ystod y rhifynnau diweddar, dau o sgwennwyr proffesiynol. Enw cyfarwydd ydy Seimon Brooks a gyfrannodd golofn dan y teitl ‘Pethe Port’ at raglen y gêm yn erbyn Dinbych. Mae Seimon wedi cyhoeddi nifer o weithiau academaidd pwysig ac yn gyn olygydd y misolyn dylanwadol ‘Barn’. Mae Seimon yn cynrychioli Borthygest ar y Cyngor Tref ac yn gefnogwr brwd o’r gemau cartref ac oddi cartref. Cefnogwr o bell ydy Lee Wright sydd yn dod o Sir Gaerlyr ac yn sgwennu ffuglen a mae’n awdur y nofel ‘The Aardvark’. Gwelwyd ei gyfraniad cyntaf yn rhaglen Caernarfon o dan y teitl ‘Lee Wright Column’. Edrychwn ymlaen at fwy o’r golofn achlysurol hon, a diolch Lee am dy sylwadau caredig am y wefan hon. Mae ‘View from the Bench’ gan Craig Papirnyk yn ddarllen angenrheidiol, wedi sgwennu heb yr ystrydebau arferol ond yn mesur yn onest lle mae Port arni gan roi golwg inni o’r hyn mae’n anelu ato. Mae yna gyfraniadau rheolaidd eraill gan gynnwys dudalen olygyddol Cymraeg/Saesneg, ‘Here and There’ neu weithiau yn ymddangos fel ‘ Yma ac Acw’, bellach yn ei ail dymor, newyddion y Clwb a’r Gynghrair yn ogystal â golwg ddiddorol o bryd i’w gilydd gan Gerallt ar hanes y clwb. Os ydych heb brynu rhaglen am dipyn byddai’n werth buddsoddi £1-50 ichi ddarllen ar ôl mynd adre! The Porthmadog FC Match Programme, named the best in the HGA for last season, has undergone further changes this summer, both in content and appearance. Gerallt Owen, who for many years put the programme together virtually single handed, now has the backing of a group of contributors including two professional writers who have added their contributions in recent programmes. Long distance supporter Lee Wright, from Leicestershire, who is a fiction writer and author of the novel ‘The Aardvark’, produced his first ‘Lee Wright Column’ contribution in the programme for the Caernarfon game. We look forward to more of this occasional column and thanks Lee for your kind comments regarding this website. Simon Brooks who contributed the Welsh language column entitled ‘Pethe Port’ (Port Affairs) has published a number of academic works and is a former editor of the influential magazine ‘Barn’. In addition he is Borthygest’s new representative on the Town Council and a regular supporter home and away. Essential reading is Craig Papirnyk’s ‘View from the Bench’, devoid of the usual platitudes, it makes an honest appraisal of where the club is at, giving an insight into the manager’s thinking. There are other regular columns including the Welsh/English editorial page, the ‘Here and There’ column now in its second season, the round up of Huws Gray and Club news as well as Gerallt’s occasional look at some aspects of the history of the club which always make interesting reading. If you have not bought a match programme recently it might be worth you investing £1-50 for a good post match read! 11/10/15 Dan-19 yn ennill / Win for U19s Llongyfarchiadau i Dan Ashby a’r tîm ieuenctid Dan19 sydd drwodd i ail rownd Cwpan Ieuenctid Cymru. Cawsant gychwyn gwael i’w tymor ac maent heb ennill yr un o’u pedair gêm â 15 o goliau yn eu herbyn. Allai fod yn gêm ddiddorol gan fod yna nifer o dalentau cyffrous yn yr oed i chwarae yn y gystadleuaeth hon. Pob lwc i’r hogiau. Port’s youth team will play Prestatyn in the First Round of the FAW Youth Cup next Sunday, 11 October at Bastion Gardens with a 2.00pm kick off. The team will be made up of many of the young players who have done well for the Reserves so far this season. Prestatyn’s U19s play in the WPL Development League despite their relegation. They have made a poor start to their season losing all four of their games and conceding 15 goals. This could well be an interesting encounter as the Port team have a number of very exciting young talents eligible to play in this competition. All the best to them in the game! 08/10/15 Dinbych nesaf / Denbigh: Our next opponents ![]() Next Saturday at 2pm Denbigh Town, the current league leaders, will be the visitors to the Traeth for Port’s third home fixture in 8 days. After losing two of their first three league games Denbigh have struck form winning their last four games including a victory, at the Rock, over Cefn Druids. Denbigh saw quite a change of personnel over the summer. Gareth Thomas, former Buckley and Flint manager, took over the reins at Central Park from last season’s boss, Elfed Lloyd. Following this change of manager, a considerable change in playing staff has followed in its wake but Gareth Thomas has built a squad with plenty of experience. He has Mike Sharples and Tony Davies in defence, Warren Duckett in midfield and the much travelled striker Carl Lamb up front. One player whose stay at Central Park proved to be very short lived was that of Josh Davies, who left the Traeth for his hometown club in the summer but before the season had properly got going he underwent a change of mind and all at the Traeth were delighted to welcome him back. In last season’s games both clubs won their away fixture with Port giving what was their best performance of the season at Central Park, winning by 4-1 with Iwan Lewis scoring a hat trick. A stubborn defensive performance gave Denbigh the points at the Traeth with Port being hit on the break and by a set piece goal. Denbigh’s leading scorer so far this season is Kristian Pierce who last season did a Josh Davies in reverse appearing briefly for Port before returning to Denbigh. 06/10/15 Gwobrau 25 / FAW Awards 25 Yn Seremoni Gwobrwyo’r Gymdeithas Bêl-droed, a gynhaliwyd yn Neuadd y Ddinas, Caerdydd neithiwr, derbyniodd CPD Porthmadog eu gwobr fel enillwyr y Gynghrair Chwarae Teg yng Nghynghrair Huws Gray.Craig Papirnyk dderbyniodd y wobr ar ran y clwb. Clybiau eraill a derbyniodd gwobr debyg yn eu cynghreiriau oedd Y Seintiau, Merched Cwmbrân, Penybont, Llanwern, Bridgend Street, Penrhyndeudraeth, Llangefni Town, Hawarden Rangers a Hay St Mary’s. Hon oedd y 25ain tro i’r seremoni gael ei chynnal. Seren y sioe oedd Gareth Bale a dderbyniodd gwobr Chwaraewr y Flwyddyn, Ffefryn y Cefnogwyr a Chwaraewr y Flwyddyn y Chwaraewyr. At last night’s FAW Awards Ceremony, held at the City Hall in Cardiff, CPD Porthmadog received their award as winners of the Fair Play League for the Huws Gray Alliance.Manager Craig Papirnyk accepted the award on behalf of the club. Other clubs who received a similar award in their leagues were The New Saints, Cwmbran Celtic Ladies, Penybont, Llanwern, Bridgend Street, Penrhyndeudraeth, Llangefni Town, Hawarden Rangers and Hay St Mary’s. This was the 25th year the Awards Ceremony have been held. The star of the show at the event was Gareth Bale chosen Player of the year, Fans Favourite and Players Player of the Year. 05/10/15 Cwpan Cymru Rownd 2 / Welsh Cup Round 2 Gêm anodd, oddi cartref i Port yn Rownd 2 o Gwpan Cymru. Bydd Port yn teithio i’r ‘Graig’ i chwarae Derwyddon Cefn ar 31 Hydref. Port have been given a tough away draw to fellow HGA club, Cefn Druids in Round Two of the J D Welsh Cup. The games in Round Two will be played on the 31 October. 05/10/15 Steve yn gadael / Steve rejoins Penrhyn Mae Steve Jones, a ail ymunodd a Port yn yr haf, wedi penderfynu dychwelyd i CPD Penrhyndeudraeth. Dymuna’r clwb ddiolch i Steve am ei wasanaeth gan ddymuno’n dda iddo yn y dyfodol. Steve Jones, who rejoined Port in the summe,r has decided to leave the club and return to CPD Penrhyndeudraeth. The club thank Steve for his services and wish him well in the future. 04/10/15 Y Cofis / Our next opponents ![]() Mae darbi eleni wedi derbyn ychydig o sbeis ychwanegol wrth i Lee Dixon ymadael a tîm reoli gyda chysylltiadau agos â’r Traeth gymryd yr awenau ar yr Oval. Mae’r rheolwr Iwan Williams yn adnabyddus iawn ar Y Traeth ac ei is reolwr Gareth Parry wedi bod yn gysylltiedig â’r Traeth dros nifer o flynyddoedd, fel chwaraewr a reolwr. Mae Iwan wedi cryfhau ei garfan dros yr haf a wir roedd y potensial yna iddynt eisoes fod ar frig y tabl. Ni ddigwyddodd hynny eto gyda timau eleni yn dangos cryn awydd am siocs! Ond roedd curo o 4-0 yn eu gêm ddiwethaf, oddi cartref yng Nghegidfa, yn awgrymu fod y Cofis yn dod iddi, gyda’u sialens am y brig yn cynhesu. Bydd Port, wedi rhediad gwael, yn gobeithio fod y newid i chwarae yng Nghwpan Cymru yn mynd i newid eu lwc ac yn dychwelyd i’r math o ganlyniadau a gafwyd ar ddechrau’r tymor. Edrychwn ymlaen at gêm nos Fawrth gyda’r awydd arferol. Having been on the road since playing Mold Alex at the Traeth on 28 August, a total of five straight away fixtures, on Tuesday Port will be at home for the second time in three days! Such are the vagaries of the fixture list! It is Derby night on Tuesday with our local rivals Caernarfon Town the visitors. After the huge success of last season’s Boxing Day fixture between the two clubs, many will express surprise and disappointment that the experiment has not been repeated. This year’s derby night has been given extra bite -if that is ever needed- by the change there has been in the Cofis management team. With Lee Dixon leaving the Oval after a successful period in charge, the new brooms there have strong Traeth connections. New manager Iwan Williams is a former Port player and he has appointed as his assistant former Port player and manager Gareth Parry. Iwan has recruited well and few would have been surprised if the Cofis had already found themselves in poll position. This has not happened, yet, with teams this season showing an appetite for shock results. But a 4-0 win in their last league fixture away at title challengers Guilsfield, suggests that the Cofis are getting into their stride and pepping up their challenge. Port, after their poor run of results, were glad to switch to Welsh Cup action last Saturday and let’s hope that the change will bring about a return to their early season form. We look forward to Tuesday’s derby with the usual sense of anticipation. 30/09/15 Cwpan Cymru / Welsh Cup ![]() Ein gwrthwynebwyr pnawn Sadwrn fydd Bow Street, clwb fydd yn ymweld â’r Traeth am y tro cyntaf. Yng Nghynghrair y Canolbarth mae Bow Street, ac ar hyn o bryd yn yr unfed safle ar ddeg mewn cynghrair o 16 clwb. Maent wedi ennill dwy a cholli chwech o’u wyth gêm gynghrair. I’w gymharu â’r tymor diwethaf mae’r clwb o gyffiniau Aberystwyth wedi tan gyflawni gan iddynt orffen yn y 5ed safle y tymor diwethaf. Yn y rownd flaenorol curodd Bow Street Y Gelli Gandryll o 2-1. Mae un enw yng ngharfan Bow Street sy’n gyfarwydd i gefnogwyr Port, sef Stefano Antoniazzi a ymddangosodd mewn ychydig o gemau fel cefnwr de dros Port yn 2009/10 pan oedd Tomi Morgan yn rheolwr. Pnawn Sadwrn rhaid i Port ddechrau ennill eto gan obeithio cychwyn rhediad da yn y Cwpan. Saturday is Welsh Cup day with Round One being played and all clubs have hopes and expectations for a good Cup run. All matches will kick off at 2pm and will be played to a finish on Saturday with extra time and penalties if necessary. Port will be hoping for a repeat, or to better, their run two seasons ago when they came within touching distance of a semi final appearance, going down to Holywell in the last eight; a game which they probably should have won. Our opponents on Saturday are Bow Street who will be making their first ever visit to the Traeth. Bow Street play in the Spar Mid Wales League and are currently in 11th place in a 16 club league. They have won two and lost six of their eight games. Compared to last season the Aberystwyth area club are under performing. In 2014/15 they finished in a creditable 5th place. In Qualifying Round 2 Bow Street defeated Hay St Mary by 2-1 One name in the Bow Street line-up will be familiar to Port supporters that of Stefano Antoniazzi who made a few appearances at right back in season 2009/10 having been recruited by the manager at the time, Tomi Morgan. Port will be looking to get back to winning performances on Saturday and start what will hopefully be a successful Cup run. 28/09/15 Tote Mis Medi / September Tote Y Rhifau Lwcus yn y Tote mis Medi oedd 20 + 31. Ryan Jones scored the Hotspurs goal. “What a response to Saturdays heavy defeat!” was manager Dan Ashby’s post match comment. |
