Diolch i Hogiau’r Bêl / Thanks to the Ball Boys

Peli / Balls Roedd yn arbennig o dda i weld hogiau Dan-12 yr Academi ar ddyletswydd yn hel y bêl yn y gêm yn erbyn Llandudno. Cawsant hwyl dda iawn ar y gwaith ac yn rhoi gwedd tipyn fwy proffesiynol a threfnus. Rwy’n siwr byddai yna groeso gan gefnogwyr i drefn debyg yn y dyfodol. Mae’n dda deall fod yr hogiau hefyd wedi mwynhau’r profiad. Cefnogwyr os gawsoch eich plesio nos Fawrth y tro nesaf dwedwch wrth yr hogiau. Cofiwch mae ychydig o canmoliaeth yn mynd ymhell!
Un fyddai’n hapus iawn i weld yr hogiau wrth y llinell ydy ein cadeirydd Phil Jones a oedd yn rhoi gwasanaeth un dyn ar ochr agored y cae mewn tywydd echrydus yn y gêm yn erbyn Rhydymwyn. Efallai fod ei waith heb ddenu sylw nifer ond nid ‘Hen Gefnogwr’ un o gyfranwyr cyson Fforwm y wefan sy’n dweud:
“Rhaid imi ddiolch i’n cadeirydd –yn trin y cae yn ystod hanner amser ac yn hel y bêl drwy gydol y gêm mewn glaw trwm di-baid. Mae’n haeddu cael wneud yn farchog!”

It was great to see the Academy U-12s on duty at the Traeth for the game against Llandudno. They did an excellent job and gave the game a far more professional and organised look. I’m sure all supporters would be delighted if this could be repeated on a regular basis. It is good to understand that the boys enjoyed their experience. To supporters I would say if you appreciated their service then tell the boys themselves. A little praise will go a long way!
One who will be delighted to see the boys on the touchline is our chairman Phil Jones who provided a one man ball boy service on the open side of the pitch in horrendous weather for the game against Rhydymwyn. His work might have escaped the notice of many at the game but not ‘Hen Gefnogwr’, a regular contributor to the website forum, who says:
“I must pay respects to our chairman - treating the pitch at half time and being the ball-boy through the match in torrential rain. He deserves a knighthood!”

Neil Thomas yn arwyddo / Neil Thomas signs

Neil Thomas - CPD Porthmadog FCAddawodd Gareth Parry y byddai’n ychwanegu at ei garfan ac mae wedi symud yn gyflym iawn i ddod a profiad ychwanegol yw garfan gymharol ifanc. Mae Neil Thomas, chwaraewr ganol cae profiadol sydd wedi bod yn chwarae i Talysarn Celts yn ddiweddar, wedi arwyddo i Port. Chwaraeodd i nifer o glybiau Uwch Gynghrair gan gynnwys cyfnod byr ar y Traeth yn 2005/06. Chwaraeodd 182(+16) o gemau UGC, yn bennaf dros Llanelli, Hwlffordd, Port Talbot a Bangor. Sgoriodd 35 o goliau yn UGC.
Y tymor diwethaf helpodd Caernarfon i sicrhau dyrchafiad ac i lwyddiant yn Tlws y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed. Yn ogystal a rhoi nerth a phrofiad i ganol cae, mae hefyd yn ychwanegu goliau.

Manager Gareth Parry who promised fresh additions to his squad has moved very quickly to bring in experience to his relatively young squad. He has signed Neil Thomas a very experienced midfielder who has recently been playing for Talysarn Celts. He has played for a clutch of Welsh Premier clubs including a brief spell with Port in 2005/06. He has played 182 (+16) WPL games mainly for Llanelli, Haverfordwest County, Port Talbot and Bangor. He has scored 35 WPL goals.
Last season he helped Caernarfon Town to gain promotion to the HGA and also to FAW Trophy success. In addition to providing strength and experience in midfield he will bring extra goal power.

Problemau rheolwr / Trials and tribulations of a manager

Dan Pyrs Yn ei nodiadau ar gyfer rhaglen gêm Llandudno mae Gareth Parry yn cychwyn y golofn “... trwy ymddiheuro am ein perfformiad...” (yn erbyn Rhydymwyn). Ychwanegodd, “Medraf ddweud yn hollol onest na theimlais erioed mor siomedig yn dilyn gêm...”
Da o beth fod y sylwadau yma wedi eu hysgrifennu cyn gêm Penycae neu fyddai wedi bod yn amhosib printio’r cynnwys! Wedi iddo ddioddef dwy siom fe fethodd y gêm yn erbyn Llandudno “oherwydd ymrwymiad teuluol”! Mae’n siwr fod y trydar a’r negeseuon testun wedi codi ei galon gyda’r tîm, nid yn unig yn ennill ond, yn perfformio yn y ffordd roedd pawb yn ddisgwyl ar ddechrau’r tymor.
Yn ei golofn hefyd mae’n datgelu y bydd Dan Pyrs, bellach wedi dychwelyd o’i daith i’r India, yn dilyn Rhys Roberts yn rôl capten y clwb.
Wrth nodi na fydd Ail Dîm eto eleni mae’n dweud, “... gan na fydd ail dîm wrth gefn inni bydd yn rhaid dod a fwy o chwaraewyr i’r clwb a medrwch ddisgwyl un neu ddau o wynebau newydd dros yr wythnosau nesaf...”

In his programme notes for the Llandudno game manager Gareth Parry started his column “... by apologising for our display...” (against Rhydymwyn). He adds, “I can honestly say that I have never felt so disappointed after a game...”
It is probably just as well that these comments were written before the Penycae game or his ‘View from the Bench’ would have been unprintable! Then, having suffered these shock defeats, he missed the Llandudno game due to a long-term family commitment! At least the tweets and texts would have raised his spirits with the team not only winning but performing in the manner we all expected before the season started.
In his notes he also reveals that Dan Pyrs, back from his travels to India, will take over as club captain succeeding Rhys Roberts who has performed these duties for several seasons.
Commenting on the withdrawal of the reserves he says, “... the lack of back-up will mean that player recruitment has not finished and you can expect to see a few new faces arriving over the coming weeks.”

Prosiect Ail Dîm yn methu / Reserves project fails

Wythnos ddiwethaf cafodd Gerallt Owen, ysgrifennydd y clwb, y dasg ddiflas o hysbysu’r Gynghrair o’r penderfyniad i dynnu’r Ail Dîm o Gynghrair Ail Dimau Gogledd Cymru oherwydd diffyg chwaraewyr.
Dywedodd Gerallt, “Roedd yn arbennig o siomedig imi, gan imi fod yn awyddus ers gryn amser i adfer yr Ail Dîm, ond bellach mae’n rhaid symud ymlaen a chyfaddef nad oes digon o diddordeb gan y ieuenctid lleol. Ychwanegodd “Y syniad oedd creu Ail Dîm er mwyn llenwi’r bwlch rhwng yr Academi a’r Tîm Cyntaf. Bellach bydd rhaid ceisio dadansoddi’r rhesymau am inni fethu denu chwaraewyr, a wedyn ceisio gwneud pethau’n iawn a cheisio eto y tymor nesaf.”
Ymdrechodd Neil Roberts, rheolwr yr Ail Dîm, yn galed drwy’r haf i ddenu chwaraewyr ond yn y diwedd bu’n rhaid cydnabod y na ellir mynd ymlaen. Wedi cychwyn addawol ym mis Gorffennaf aeth y niferoedd yn yr ymarfer i lawr i 3 neu 4 o chwaraewyr yn y diwedd. Cafodd y clwb bythefnos ychwanegol gan y Gynghrair i geisio setlo’r problemau ond nid oedd modd i adfer y sefyllfa.
Y farn besimistaidd, yn dilyn y profiad gwael dros yr haf, yw na fydd y clwb ar frys mawr i fynd ati i gychwyn Ail Dîm eto. Ond rhaid byw mewn gobaith na fydd pesimistiaeth yn ennill y dydd a bydd ffordd ar gael i sicrhau nad ydy gwaith caled hyfforddwyr yr Academi yn cael ei wastraffu.

Club Secretary Gerallt Owen had the unenviable job of informing the League last week of the club’s decision to withdraw their Reserve team from the North Wales Premier Reserve League due to lack of players.
He said, “It was particularly disappointing for me as I had been keen for some time to resurrect the reserve team but we have to admit that the interest among local young players is not there and move on. He added “the idea was that it should be a stepping stone from the Academy to the first team. We will have to try and analyse why we have failed to attract players and try to address the problems we feel may be causing it and see what we can do next season.”
Reserve team manager Neil Roberts strived all summer to attract players but eventually has been forced to admit defeat. After initial good turnouts at training back in early July numbers have dwindled to 3 or 4 players only in recent weeks. The Reserve League had given Porthmadog a two week extension to try and sort out their difficulties but to no avail.
The pessimistic view is that it would seem unlikely that the Reserves will be started at the club anytime soon following such a bad experience this summer. But we must hope that pessimism will not prevail and that a way will be found to ensure that the hard work of Academy coaches does not go to waste.

Rhagolwg / Preview: v Cegidfa / Guilsfield

Cegidfa / Guilsfield Bydd Port yn teithio i Gegidfa pnawn Sadwrn ar gefn buddugoliaeth ganol wythnos ardderchog dros Llandudno –clwb ym marn rhai byddai’n agos at frig y tabl ar ddiwedd y tymor. Mae hyn yn dangos mor anodd ydy penderfynu pwy yw pwy yn y gynghrair, mor fuan a hyn yn y tymor.
Cafodd Cegidfa eu tymor gorau yng Nghynghrair Huws Gray llynedd wrth orffen yn 8fed yn y tabl –un yn uwch na Port. Mae’r clwb yma wedi lwyddo i gadw cnewyllyn o chwaraewr profiadol dros nifer o dymhorau, rhai fel James Henderson yn y cefn a Gareth Jones yn allweddol yng nghanol cae. Mae Cegidfa bob amser yn barod i gwffio eu congl gan wneud bywyd yn anodd i’w gwrthwynebwyr yn enwedig pan yn chwarae ar eu tomen eu hun.
Cychwynnodd Cegidfa eu tymor drwy golli adref o 2-0 yn erbyn Conwy, clwb sy’n debygol o fod ymysg geffylau blaen y gynghrair eleni. Dilynwyd hyn gyda buddugoliaeth yn Penrhyncoch a mwy perthnasol i Port, curo Rhydymwyn, clwb a achosodd sioc yng ngêm gyntaf y tymor ar y Traeth. Y profiadol Danny Barton sydd wedi sgorio’r 5 gôl mae Cegidfa wedi rhwydo’r tymor hwn ac yn profi dipyn o adfywiad.
Y newidiadau pwysig a welodd y clwb o’r canolbarth eleni ydy fod Matthew Burton wedi cymryd swydd y rheolwr, gan fod y cyn reolwr llwyddiannus Russ Cadwallader wedi ymadael. Ond roedd yn dipyn o syndod fod y prif sgoriwr Will Thomas wedi gadael i ymuno â Llanidloes.

Port travel to Guilsfield on Saturday buoyed by an excellent midweek victory over Llandudno, a club much fancied by many, in pre-season, to make a strong challenge at the top of the table. This goes to show that, at this stage of the season, it is really difficult to measure the relative strengths of competing clubs.
Guilsfield enjoyed their best HGA season in 2012/13 when finishing in a respectable 8th place in the table –one above Porthmadog. They are a club who have retained the nucleus of their team over several seasons and always pose a stiff challenge especially on their own ground. James Henderson is again marshalling the defence with Gareth Jones again a key player in midfield.
They started the season with a 2-0 loss at home to much fancied Conwy Borough and followed this with a win at Penrhyncoch and more relevant to Port a 4-2 victory at homeagainst Rhydymwyn, the club who caused an opening day upset at the Traeth. All five Guilsfield goals have been scored by veteran striker Danny Barton who appears to have found a new lease of life.
Significant changes at the club have seen Matthew Burton take over as manager from Russ Cadwallader and, surprisingly perhaps, star striker Will Thomas has signed for promoted Llanidloes.

Diolch am y Croeso / Thanks for the Welcome

Er waethaf colli yn Penycae roedd y croeso a dderbyniodd swyddogion a chefnogwyr Porthmadog yn cael ei werthfawrogi’n fawr.
Ychwanegodd Phil Jones, cadeirydd Port, ei ddiolch a llongyfarch y clwb am yr holl waith a wnaed ganddynt i wella cyfleusterau. “Mae Penycae wedi gweithio’n galed ac mae safon arbennig o dda i’r cae. Hefyd adeiladwyd clwb newydd lle cafodd y cefnogwyr groeso arbennig o dda a lle gafodd y chwaraewyr eu bwyd ar ôl y gêm. Mewn cyfnod byr, a nhw ond yn cychwyn ei trydydd tymor ers dyrchafiad, mae Penycae wedi llwyddo i wneud llawer iawn.”

Despite the defeat at Penycae the warm welcome extended to the supporters and officials of Porthmadog was much appreciated.
Phil Jones, the Port chairman, added his thanks to Penycae and congratulated the club for the continued improvement s they have made. “They have worked hard on their pitch and produced a really good surface. They have also built a new clubhouse where supporters were made welcome and players could have their after match food. I’m really impressed with what they have achieved in a short time only starting their third season since promotion.”

Rhagolwg/ Preview: Penycae/ Llandudno

Dyn eithriadol o hyderus / Extremely confident man Bydd Port yn chwarae dwy gêm mewn 4 diwrnod gan ddechrau yn Penycae bnawn Sadwrn nesaf a wedyn croesawu Llandudno i’r Traeth ar nos Fawrth 27 Awst. Bu’r ddau glwb yma yn chwarae ei gilydd ym Maesdu ar Sadwrn cyntaf y tymor, mewn gêm gyfartal un yr un.
Mae Penycae wedi arwyddo dau flaenwr profiadol, Aaron Edwards o’r Fflint a Dan Drazdaukas o Rhydymwyn. Tanlinellodd Drazdaukas ei allu drwy sgorio’r gôl a ddaeth a Penycae yn gyfartal yn Llandudno.
Port sydd wedi ennill y pedair gêm rhwng y ddau glwb yn ystod y ddau dymor diwethaf ond ddim heb beth anhawster, ac roedd angen gôl hwyr gan Gareth Parry i sicrhau’r triphwynt ar y Traeth yn ôl ym mis Mawrth. Ers ennill dyrchafiad gwnaeth y clwb o ardal Wrecsam dipyn o waith ar eu cyfleusterau ac erbyn hyn mae yna fwriad i wella pethau ar y cae.
Ar nos Fawrth, 27 Awst, Llandudno fydd yr ymwelwyr. Fel Port, tangyflawni oedd hanes Llandudno y tymor diwethaf ond er hynny, nhw enillodd y gêm gynghrair ar y Traeth ac ail adrodd y llwyddiant hwnnw yng Nghwpan Cymru.
Yn barod mae Llandudno wedi bod yn brysur oddi ar y cae yn sicrhau fod y cyfleusterau yn cwrdd â’r gofynion . Rŵan mae’r rheolwr Alan Morgan wedi bod yn cryfhau ei garfan. Yn y blaen gyda Dean Seagar fydd Toby Jones, cyn-chwaraewr Airbus a Chastell Nedd, a Josh Macauley a oedd gyda Aberystwyth y tymor diwethaf. Mae Craig Garside wedi ymuno o Fangor a gyda Joe Richardson, gynt o Fae Colwyn, a Eddie Jebb, gynt o Fangor hefyd yn ail arwyddo, bydd y garfan yn un profiadol iawn. Yn amlwg mae Alan Morgan yn disgwyl i hwn fod yn dymor da ac yn ei rhagolwg mae’n dweud. “Rwy’n gwybod yn sicr y byddwn yn agos at ben y gynghrair hon ym mis Ebrill.” Hyder yn wir!

Port will play two games in four in four days starting with the visit to Penycae on Saturday and then entertaining Llandudno at the Traeth, the following Tuesday evening 27 August . Our opponents played each other in opening game of the season at Maesdu, a game which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Penycae have brought in two proven strikers in Aaron Edwards from Flint and Dan Drazdaukas from Rhydymwyn. Drazdaukas wasted no time in proving his goalscoring abilities netting Penycae’s leveller against Llandudno.
Port have come out on top in the four games over the past two seasons but not without difficulty as it needed a late goal from our manager to secure all three points at the Traeth back in March. The Wrexham area club have worked hard on their facilities since gaining promotion and there is some evidence now that they intend to push on with the playing side this season.
Llandudno will be the midweek visitors on Tuesday, 27 August. Like Port they will certainly consider themselves to be under achievers in 2012/13. But they were winners at the Traeth in the league and then repeated their success, putting Port out of the Welsh Cup.
Llandudno have already been very active off the pitch putting everything in place for a promotion push. Now Manager Alan Morgan has stepped up efforts to strengthen his squad. Joining Dean Seager up front will be Toby Jones, former Airbus and Neath striker, and Josh Macauley who was with Aberystwyth last season. Another big signing is former Bangor City midfielder Craig Garside while Joe Richardson, ex Colwyn Bay, and Eddie Jebb, ex Bangor, have both signed again giving the squad an experienced look. Alan Morgan is clearly expecting a good season and in his preview for the coming season he says, “I know for a fact we are going to be around the top of this league come April.” Confidence indeed!

Mwy yn arwyddo / More signings completed

Paul Lewis Mae trosglwyddiad Paul Lewis bellach wedi’i gwblhau yn ôl o’r Bala lle bu dros gyfnod y clwb hwnnw yn Ewrop. Mae’r amddiffynnwr Dylan Jones, a chwaraeodd ei gêm gyntaf dros yn clwb yn erbyn Aberystwyth, yn dod i Port ar fenthyg am y tymor.
Mae dau golwr newydd wedi arwyddo Gareth Barker, gynt o Brestatyn a Rhuthun a Ceiron Hall, a ymddangosodd yn y mwyafrif o gemau cyn dymor. Roedd angen golwr gan fod Richard Harvey, un o ffyddloniaid y clwb, wedi anafu yng ngêm olaf 2012/13 a bydd angen llaw driniaeth.Llynedd roedd Merfyn Williams yn rhoi cyfar yn y gôl ond bellach mae yn helpu Campbell yng Nghaergybi.
Mae Josh Banks a Gareth Jones Evans, dau aelod ifanc talentog o garfan llynedd, wedi arwyddo eto. Mae Gareth yn parhau i wella ar ôl ei anaf hir dymor.

The transfer of Paul Lewis back to Porthmadog from Bala, where he spent a month during Bala’s campaign in Europe has now gone through. Defender Dylan Jones, who played his first game for the club against Aberystwyth, has joined on loan from Bangor for the season.
Two keepers Gareth Barker, formerly with Prestatyn and Ruthin, and Ceiron Hall, who has appeared in most pre-season games, have now signed for the club. A new keeper was required as long serving keeper Richard Harvey was injured in the last game of 2012/13 and will require surgery before he is able play again. Merfyn Williams who provided cover in goal is now assistant to Campbell at Holyhead.
Two other talented young members of last season’s squad have also signed. They are full back Josh Banks and midfielder Gareth Jones Evans. Gareth is continuing his recovery from a long term ankle injury.
14/08/13
Rhagolwg Rhydymwyn / Preview Rhydymwyn

Rhydymwyn Mae’r olaf o’r gemau cyfeillgar wedi mynd a’r frwydr am y pwyntiau ar gychwyn. Rhydymwyn fydd yr ymwelwyr cyntaf â’r Traeth, a nhw hefyd oedd ein gwrthwynebwyr olaf yn nhymor 2012/13. Dyma gyfle buan felly i wneud yn iawn am ddiweddglo siomedig i’r tymor diwethaf. Un pwynt yn unig lwyddodd Port i’w ennill yn erbyn y clwb o Sir Fflint y tymor diwethaf.
Mae carfan Port wedi newid yn sylweddol dros y naw mis diwethaf gyda sawl un o’r chwaraewyr hyn yn gadael er mwyn canfod porfeydd brasach. Felly ers ganol y tymor diwethaf, a dros yr haf, mae Gareth Parry wedi bod yn brysur yn ail wampio’r tîm a dod a’r hyfforddwr disglair, Matthew Bishop i’r clwb i’w gynorthwyo.
Aeth y gemau cyfeillgar yn dda yn arbennig felly y rhai yn erbyn Rhyl ac Aberystwyth –gwrthwynebwyr o UGC. Bydd cefnogwyr wedi gadael y Traeth ddydd Sadwrn wedi’u plesio gan y perfformiad cyffrous a gafwyd yn erbyn tîm cryfaf Aberystwyth -a hynny er waetha’r gôl hwyr.
Bu’n dda gweld Carl Owen yn ôl ac yn rhwydo pedair gwaith yn y gemau cyn dymor. Cafodd ei gefnogi gan ganol cae creadigol iawn a rhediadau cryf o’r cefn hefyd.
Mae’n anodd iawn mesur unrhyw wrthwynebwyr ar hyn o bryd ac mae Rhydymwyn hefyd wedi gweld newidiadau i’w carfan. Mae’r sgoriwr rheolaidd Dan Drazdaukas wedi gadael ynghyd a nifer o rhai eraill ond mae’r rheolwr Dan Seamarks wedi arwyddo chwaraewyr i gefnogi’r cnewyllyn o chwaraewyr profiadol fel Chris Guy, Dave Bryan a Darren Pritchard.
Welwn ni chi ddydd Sadwrn.

The pre-season sparring is over and the battle for points commences on Saturday. Rhydymwyn will be the first visitors to the Traeth and ironically they were our last league opponents of 2012/13. So we have an early opportunity to make up for what was a disappointing finale to last season. Last season we only managed one point from our encounters with the Flintshire club.
Playing personnel at the Traeth have changed much over the past nine months with several senior players leaving for places where the grass appears to be greener. Gareth Parry, since the middle of last season and over the summer, has remodelled his team and brought on board Matthew Bishop, a highly qualified and experienced coach.
Pre-season has gone well, especially the games where Rhyl and Aberystwyth provided Welsh Premier opposition. Supporters will have left the Traeth on Saturday rather pleased with an exciting performance against a virtually full strength Aberystwyth, and that despite the late winner by our opponents.
It has been good to see Carl Owen back and netting four times in pre-season. He was backed, on Saturday, by some impressive midfield performances and some great runs from the back.
It is really difficult to judge opponents at this stage of the season as Rhydymwyn, like many clubs, have seen changes in personnel. Free scoring Dan Drazdaukas has left the club, along with a few others, but manager Dan Seamarks has brought in a group of new players who will back the experienced nucleus provided by players like Chris Guy, Dave Bryan and Darren Pritchard.
Come along on Saturday we could be in for some exciting football this season.

Greenacres yn noddi cit yr Academi / Greenacres sponsor Academy kit

Greenacres Dymuna Academi Porthmadog gydnabod a diolch i Barc Gwyliau Greenacres yn Morfa Bychan am eu nawdd hael o’r cit chwarae i’r hogiau ar gyfer tymor 2013/14.
Yn wahanol i Academïau clybiau Uwch Gynghrair Cymru, sy’n derbyn tua £20,000 yn flynyddol o’r Gymdeithas Bêl-droed, mae Academi llwyddiannus Porthmadog ac eraill tu allan i’r Uwch Gynghrair, yn gorfod dod o hyd i bres digonol. Mae cefnogaeth cwmni lleol fel hyn yn gymorth i sicrhau dyfodol i’r Academi.
Diolch hefyd i rheolwr y Parc, David Evans am drefnu fod yr Academi i dderbyn y nawdd.
Bwriad arall gan yr Academi ydy prynu pyst gôl er mwyn sicrhau fod gemau’r hogiau Dan12 yn cael ei chwarae ar y cae ymarfer. Y gobaith yw llwyddo dod o hyd i fwy o nawdd er mwyn gwneud hyn. Mae’r Academi yn ddyledus hefyd i Phil am gefnogi’r amcan yma.

The Porthmadog Academy would like to acknowledge and thank the Greenacres Holiday Park of Morfa Bychan for their extremely generous sponsorship of the Porthmadog Academy’s playing kit for the 2013/14 season.
Unlike the Academies of Welsh Premier clubs, who receive in the region of £20,000 annually from the FAW, the very successful Porthmadog Academy and other Academies outside the Welsh Premier have to find their own funding. This kind of support from a local company helps to provide for the immediate future of the Academy.
Thanks are also due to the Park manager David Evans for facilitating this generous sponsorship.
The Academy is also looking to purchase a set of goal posts to provide a pitch on the training ground on which the U12s can play their Academy games. They will be hoping for further sponsorship to facilitate this. Phil, Club Chairman, has pledged to help in any way possible and the Academy is very grateful for this backing.

Newyddion o’r Academi / News from the Academy

Mae Eddie Blackburn yn optimistaidd am y cychwyn a wnaed yn yr Academi. Meddai, ”Mae’r broses dreialu a chofrestru wedi mynd yn dda, diolch yn bennaf i ymdrechion Neil Roberts a Martin Jones hyfforddwyr y timau Dan16 a Dan14.
“Mae’r dair carfan yn debygol o fod yn llawn ac yn cael eu hyfforddi gan dri o hyfforddwyr rhagorol.
“Mae Neil a Martin wedi cwblhau Trwydded ‘C’ y Gymdeithas Bêl-Droed ac mae Iwan Arwel Jones, sydd wedi ymuno o Fangor lle ‘roedd yn Hyfforddwr Cymunedol, wedi cychwyn ar Drwydded ‘C’ gan obeithio cymhwyso erbyn Mawrth y flwyddyn nesaf.

Eddie Blackburn is optimistic about the start the Academy has made. He says, “Both trialling and registration have gone very well, thanks mainly to the sterling efforts of Neil Roberts and Martin Jones, U16 and U14 coaches respectively.
“All three competitive squads look as though they will be fully subscribed and will be coached by three excellent coaches.
“Neil and Martin have both completed successfully the FAW 'C' Licence course last year and Iwan Arwel Jones, who has joined us from Bangor where he has been a Community Coach, has started on his 'C' Licence qualification and hopes to complete that in March next year.

Rob Evans Er nad yw eto wedi cwblhau ei garfan am y tymor newydd mae Gareth Parry yn y broses o rhoi’r cyfan at ei gilydd. Mae’r chwaraewyr canlynol , a oedd yn rhan o garfan y tymor diwethaf, yn barod wedi arwyddo ar gyfer 2013/14: Rhys Roberts, Carl Owen, Leon Newell, Rhys T. Roberts, Gruffydd John Williams, Eilir Edwards a Ryan Connolly yn ogystal a Gareth Parry ei hun sy’n bwriadu chwarae mwy eleni.
Mae hefyd wedi arwyddo sawl chwaraewr newydd. Bydd Rob Evans chwaraewr canol cae creadigol a phrofiadol yn ymuno o Gaersws. Chwaraeodd Rob dros Port 13 o weithiau yn 2009/10 ar fenthyg o Aberystwyth. Mae Daniel Bell, chwaraewr canol cae o Bethel, wedi ymuno o glwb Bangor. Buodd Daniel ar lyfrau Oldham ac mae wedi cynrychioli Cymru Dan-18. Disgwylir hefyd i Paul Lewis gwblhau trosglwyddiad o’r Bala yn fuan.
Bydd mwy o enwau yn cael eu hychwanegu at y garfan yn ystod y dyddiau nesaf.

He has also added several new players to his squad. Robert Evans has joined from Caersws. He is a creative midfielder with considerable experience. Llongyfarchiadau hefyd i Chas Rowland, Ysgrifennydd Cynghrair Huws Gray, sydd wedi’i ethol yn y Gogledd Ddwyrain i wasanaethau gyda Steve Williams yn yr ardal honno.
Gan ystyried ymddiswyddiad diweddar Andrew Edwards mae Cynghorwyr yn wynebu her i’w hygrededd, a da byddai gwybod barn ein cynrychiolwyr ar y materion pwysig ac ar yr Adolygiad trefniadol fydd yn ymddangos cyn hir iawn.

Ron Bridges (21)
Eric Wyn Jones (11)
Mike Jones (6)
Bryan Owen (8)
This means that Ron Bridges and Eric Wyn Jones have been elected to the Council
Congratulations also to Huws Gray Alliance Secretary, Chas Rowland who has been elected to serve North East Wales as a Councillor of the FAW. He joins Steve Williams as North East Wales representative.
In view of Andrew Edwards’ resignation councillors face a serious challenge to their credibility and it would be good to know the views of our representatives on these controversial matters and on the organisational review which will appear shortly.

Bermo yn dathlu / Barmouth celebrate

Bermo/Barmouth & Dyffryn Bydd Port yn ymweld a’r Bermo pnawn Sadwrn pan fydd y clwb lleol yn dathlu 150 o flynyddoedd o bêl-droed yn y dref.
Mae’r ddau glwb wedi datblygu perthynas dda iawn yn ddiweddar a’r tymor diwethaf chwaraewyd gêm gyfeillgar canol tymor ar y Traeth rhwng y ddau. Hefyd dau dymor yn ôl caniatawyd i Academi Port chwarae rownd cynderfynol Cwpan Academi Cymru ar gae Wern Mynach.
Mae’r Bermo wedi cael canlyniadau da mewn gemau cyn dymor. Agos iawn oedd hi yn erbyn Aberystwyth dim ond yn colli o 4-3, a’r Sadwrn diwethaf cafwyd buddugoliaeth o 1-0 dros Penrhyncoch. Felly wrth i Port edrych i barhau â’r safon a ddangoswyd yn y Rhyl medrwn ddisgwyl prawf iawn yn y Bermo.

When Port play Barmouth on Saturday the local club will also be celebrating 150 years of football in their Town.
The two clubs have enjoyed very good relations in recent seasons. Last season they played a mid-season friendly at the Traeth and two seasons ago Barmouth very kindly allowed the Port Academy to use their excellent Wern Mynach playing surface for an important Welsh Academies Cup semi-final.
Barmouth have enjoyed a good pre-season, running a strong Aberystwyth team close though eventually going down by 4-3. They followed this with a good win last week over Cymru Alliance club Penrhyncoch. Port can expect a testing time on Saturday as they look to continue the good midweek form at Rhyl.

Ymddiswyddiad o'r CBC / FAW resignation

Andrew EdwardsYchydig yn hwyr bellach ond mae'n werth tynnu sylw at y ffaith for Andrew Edwards, cadeirydd clwb Port Talbot, wedi ysgrifennu at bob clwb sy’n aelod o’r Gymdeithas Bêl-droed gan egluro ei resymau am ymddiswyddo o Gyngor y Gymdeithas.
Mae o’n mynegi ei farn yn ddiflewyn ar dafod gan cyfeirio ei ddicter yn benaf at gynrychiolwyr niferus Cynghreiriau Cymru (y de). Mae’n cyhuddo rhai aelodau o fwlian, gweithredu fel clic er mwyn hybu agenda eu hunain a threfnu penderfyniadau ar y cyd o flaen llaw.
Mae’n annog y clybiau i gydweithredu er mwyn sicrhau fod y newid angenrheidiol yn digwydd. Cewch ddarllen y llythyr llawn ar y dudalen erthyglau.

A bit after the event, but it's still worth drawing attention to the fact that Andrew Edwards, chairman of Port Talbot Town FC, has written to all member clubs explaining his reasons for resigning his seat on the FAW Council.
He does not pull his punches directing most of his ire in the direction of the numerous representatives of the Welsh Leagues (south). He accuses some members of bullying, acting as a clique and doing deals outside of Council to further their own agendas.
He urges clubs to act in consort and make change happen. You can read his letter in full in the articles section.

Buddugoliaeth dda / A good win

Rhyl Heno enillodd Port o 1-0 dros Y Rhyl ar y Belle Vue. Mae buddugoliaeth dros Y Rhyl yn gam arwyddocaol i unrhyw glwb, hyd yn oed mewn gêm cyn dymor. Efallai yn fwy arwyddocaol ydy’r ffaith mai Carl Owen sgoriodd unig gôl y gêm a hynny yn erbyn cyn glwb. Bydd y gôl hon yn gam pwysig yng ngwellhad Carl ac y gôl gyntaf iddo sgorio dros y clwb -yn erbyn y lefel yma o wrthwynebwyr- ers yn union dwy flynedd i’r diwrnod, sef 30 Gorffennaf 2011, pan gurwyd Y Bala o 5-2 mewn gêm cyn dymor arall.
Ffaith bleserus arall ydy peidio gadael gôl i fewn –y tro cyntaf yn y gyfres o gemau cyn dymor eleni.

Tonight Port gained a 1-0 win over Rhyl at the Belle vue. A win over Rhyl is a significant marker for any club even in a pre-season friendly. Perhaps even more significantly the game’s only goal came from Carl Owen –against a former club- and marks an important step in his recovery after such a serious injury. This his first goal for the club -against this level of opposition- for exactly two years to the day, since the 30 July 2011, when he scored with “an emphatic shot from 18 yards” in a 5-2 win over Bala in another pre-season fixture.
Another pleasing feature is the clean sheet, the first in this series of pre-season fixtures.

Adroddiad Treffynnon /Holywell match report

Mae adroddiad gêm ddydd Sadwrn i’w weld yn adran ‘Adroddiadau’. Treffynnon enillodd o 3-0 yn erbyn tîm Port oedd heb sawl un o’u chwaraewyr tîm cyntaf. Ond bydd tîm cryf Treffynnon yn ffefrynnau i ennill dyrchafiad i’r HGA y tymor hwn.
Mae trafferthion ynglyn â sicrhau fod y tîm cryfaf ar gael ar bnawn Sadwrn yn gwneud i Gareth Parry ofyn a fyddai’n well chwarae gemau cyfeillgar ar nosweithiau yn yr wythnos. Mae’n siwr ei fod yn iawn gan fod galwadau eraill ar amser chwaraewyr ar benwythnosau cyn i’r tymor go iawn gychwyn.

The match report for Saturday’s game can now be seen in the reports section. Holywell defeated an under strength Port by 3-0. But Holywell should on this showing be very strong promotion candidates come next April.
Gareth Parry poses the question whether in fact Saturday pre-season games should in future seasons be avoided. He is probably right as there are so many other demands on players time before the season proper gets started.

Rhagolwg Gareth Parry o’r tymor / Gareth Parry previews the season

Gareth Parry Fel rheolwyr eraill yr HGA mae Gareth Parry wedi rhannu ei feddyliau gyda gwefan swyddogol Cynghrair Huws Gray am y rhagolygon at y tymor newydd. Meddai , “Mae Porthmadog bob amser wedi bod yn glwb uchelgeisiol a bydd yn parhau felly ond hefyd rym yn ddigon realistig i wybod beth sydd yn bosib i’r clwb gyflawni. Yn bendant byddwn yn anelu i orffen yn uwch y tro yma ac os medrwn wthio ein hunain i’r pedwar uchaf byddai ‘n dipyn o lwyddiant.”
Darllenwch ei rhagolwg yn llawn yn rhan Erthyglau.

Along with other HGA managers Gareth Parry has provided the official Huws Gray website with his thoughts on prospects for the coming season. He says, “Porthmadog have always been ambitious and will continue in that vein, but we are also realistic in what is achievable for us as a club. We definitely want to finish higher up the league this time around, and if we can push ourselves into the top 4 it would be a great achievement.”
