Adolygu’r Tymor
Wrth edrych yn ôl dros y tymor, bu gwelliant amlwg. Rydym wedi ennill yr un nifer o gêmau â’r llynedd ond wedi llwyddo i droi wyth o’r gêmau a gollwyd yn gêmau cyfartal ac oherwydd wedi casglu wyth pwynt ychwanegol. Gwelwyd gwelliant aruthrol yn y golofn goliau yn erbyn ond nid ydym wedi llwyddo fel uned i sgorio ddigon o goliau. Yn union fel mae’r amddiffyn wedi gweithredu fel uned, rhaid inni weithredu fel uned i sgorio mwy o goliau ym mhob rhan o’r tîm.

Cyrhaeddom rownd cyn derfynol Cwpan y Gynghrair am y tro cyntaf yn hanes y clwb. Uchafbwynt y tymor oedd gwneud y dwbl dros Bangor a hyn yn profi ein bod yn gallu codi ein gêm at yr achlysur mawr ond heb ei gyflawni hyd yn hyn yn wythnosol yn y gynghrair. O’n plaid hefyd ydy’r ffaith nad oes neb wedi rhoi cweir inni gan ein bod bob amser yn gystadleuol gyda phob un o’n gwrthwynebwyr yn sylweddoli eu bod wedi cael gêm go-iawn bob tro. Cafwyd llawer mwy o bwyntiau positif na rhai fel arall yn ystod y tymor a chyflawnwyd yr hyn a oeddem yn anelu ato ar ddechrau’r tymor sef dangos cynnydd. Pwy a wŷr beth ddaw y tymor nesaf ? Bwriadwn gryfhau’r garfan gan obeithio y bydd y chwaraewyr presennol yn aros gyda’r clwb.

Diolch
Rwyf am gymryd y cyfle i ddiolch i lawer o bobl. Yn gyntaf i Osian, Campbell a’r chwaraewyr am eu hymdrechion yn ystod y tymor. Maent yn grŵp da o hogiau sydd yn rhoi ymdrech cant y cant ar y cae. Diolch hefyd i Phil Jones (Cadeirydd) a’r Cyfarwyddwyr am eu cefnogaeth. Diolch i Meirion ac i’r nifer sydd wedi helpu’r clwb drwy noddi, hysbysebu a chodi arian nid yn unig ar ddiwrnod y gêm ond o ddydd i ddydd yn ystod y flwyddyn. Heblaw am ymdrech y bobl yma, ni fyddai gennym glwb yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru. Mae gymaint o’r gwaith tu ôl y llenni yn holl bwysig i gadw’r safonau y mae Port wedi gosod i’w hun ac i godi’r arian angenrheidiol i gynnal pêl droed ar y lefel yma. I gloi’r diolchiadau, carwn ddiolch i John a Steve am eu gwaith gyda’r ail dîm Y tymor hwn, mae nifer o chwaraewyr wedi bod yn gwthio i ennill lle yn y tîm cyntaf –mwy nag ers llawer blwyddyn. I’r ddau, mae llawer o’r diolch am hyn. Diolch o galon i bawb.

Gwobrau Viv
Amser i roi gwobrau ydy diwedd y tymor hefyd. Bu Gwobr y Chwaraewyr yn gystadleuaeth dynn iawn gyda dau yn y frwydr wrth i Mark Williams a Ryan Davies ddod ben ben a’i gilydd am y pleidleisiau ond i Ryan aeth y wobr yn y diwedd.

Rŵan dyma ychydig o’m gwobrau i am y tymor –gan gadarnhau nad ydynt yn farn y clwb!

Dyfarnwr y Tymor: Phil Southall sydd wedi bod ben ac ysgwyddau uwchben ei gyd ddyfarnwyr a hynny er y chwe munud ychwanegol yn TNS a oedd yn iawn yn ôl llythyren y ddeddf ond pam nad ydy dyfarnwyr eraill yn gwneud yr un fath? Rheolwr y Tymor: Nick Tucker, Llanelli –gwnaeth waith rhyfeddol i gadw Llanelli yn y Gynghrair gan ei bod yn edrych yn nos arnynt cyn iddo ddod yna. Chwaraewr y Flwyddyn: Steve Evans, TNS -chwaraewr gwych o dan bwysau gyda’i chwarae bob amser o safon uchel.

Pob hwyl a mwynhewch yr haf!

Review of the Season
Looking back over the season, there has been a definite improvement. We have won the same number of games as last term but we have turned 8 of last season’s defeats into draws and therefore picked up an extra eight points. The goals against column has seen a dramatic improvement, but we have not scored enough goals collectively as a unit. Just as the defending has been as a unit the goals have not come from all around the team.

We have also reached the semi-final of the League Cup for the first time in the club’s history. The highlight of the season was doing the double over Bangor City which showed we could do it on the big occasion but not yet week in week out. Another plus is that no team has turned us over, we have been competitive and every club we have played has known that they have been in a game. The season has thrown up more pluses than minuses and what we wanted at the start of the season was to show an improvement, and that has been achieved. Who knows what next season will bring? We will be looking to strengthen but also hoping that the existing players will remain with the club.

Thanks
I take this opportunity to thank a lot of people. Firstly to Osian, Campbell and the players for their efforts over the season. They are a great bunch of lads who will always put in their effort and commitment on the pitch. Thanks also to Phil Jones (Chairman) and the Directors for their support. Thanks also to Meirion and to the many who help the club with sponsorship, advertising and fund raising not only on match days but day in and day out. Without the efforts of these people we would not have a club in the Welsh Premier. So much of the work that goes on behind the scenes is vital to maintain the high standards Porthmadog have set themselves and to raise the funds required to sustain football at this level. Finally I would like to thank John and Steve for their work with the reserves. This season a number of players are pushing to break into the first team squad –more than for many years. A lot of credit must go to them for their work with the reserves Thanks to all of you.

Viv’s End of Season Awards
End of season is also a time to hand out awards. The Players’ Player Award has been a tight struggle this time with two players emerging from the pack, Mark Williams and Ryan Davies who have been head to head in the voting with Ryan just gaining the final nod.

Here now are a few awards of my own. These are my own personal opinions and not the club’s! Referee of the Season: Phil Southall who has been head and shoulders the best ref this season despite the extra six minutes at TNS which was right to the letter of the law but why do the rest of the refs not do it? Manager of the Season: Nick Tucker, Llanelli – has done a remarkable job to keep them in the League for they looked dead and buried before his arrival. Player of the Season: Steve Evans, TNS –awesome under pressure and a real quality player.

All the best and enjoy the summer!
