Y 10/12 Disglair – y stori hyd yma The Super 10/12 – the story so far Saesneg / English Ychydig iawn o fabanod newydd gafodd lai o groeso na’r un sy’n aros y 10/12 Disglair. Yn wir mae’r anghytundeb diweddaraf ynglyn â’r tymor 44 o gemau yn 2010/11 yn mynd i barhau. Mynnodd John Deakin, wrth siarad gyda Dave Jones o’r Daily Post, nad oedd y cynllun 44 gêm wedi’i setlo’n derfynol. “Does yna ddim brys mawr i benderfynu fformat y gemau ar gyfer y tymor nesaf –fyddai ddim yn eu rhoi at eu gilydd tan fis Mehefin,” meddai. Beth felly tybed oedd pwrpas y cyfarfod yn y Drenewydd? Ai’r gwir ydy nad oes yna gynllun, a fod project sydd heb ei ystyried yn ddigon gofalus, bellach yn cael ei orfodi ar glybiau heb ymchwil na chynllunio. Rhaid i’r clybiau hefyd ysgwyddo peth o’r bai am y ffordd y maent wedi siarad ac un llais yn gyhoeddus, ond yn pleidleisio i’r gwrthwyneb. Mae sylw cadeirydd clwb Hwlffordd, Rob Summons, i weld yn cadarnhau fod yna ddiffyg meddwl ymlaen llaw, pan mae’n datgelu fod “ .... y fformat newydd wedi wedi’i benderfynu mewn pum munud gwallgof heb unrhyw drafod ar sut mae’r clybiau yn mynd i ymateb i’r galwadau arnynt.” Dadlau o blaid Cyfarfod Arbennig o’r clybiau fydd yn sicrhau lle yn y gynghrair y tymor nesaf gwnaeth Rob Summons, a rheini i benderfynu’r fformat “ .... er mwyn i’r clybiau hynny fydd yn gorfod byw gyda chanlyniadau’r penderfyniad gwirion yma ddelio efo’r mater.” Y naw o blaid y fformat 44 gêm oedd: Aberystwyth, Caersws, Derwyddon Cefn, Gap Cei Conna, Llanelli, Port Talbot, Prestatyn, Y Rhyl a’r Seintiau Newydd. Felly mae’n bosib ail drafod rhai pethau ond yn amlwg nid maint y gynghrair -a hynny er gwaetha’r derbyniad llugoer a ddatgelwyd i’r newid gan ‘Arolwg Sgorio.’ Yn y Drenewydd gwrthododd Phil Woosnam, cadeirydd Bwrdd y Gynghrair, ganiatáu trafodaeth ar fater sy’n dal i rhannu’r clybiau. Yn wir o’r cychwyn mae’r holl broject wedi’i lethu gan broblemau. Gwaniwyd yr holl gynllun wrth ddiddymu’r Ail Adran heb gynnig dim arall i’r 8 clwb a allai golli eu lle yn UGC. Effeithiwyd ar y prosiect ymhellach gan benderfyniadau o’r tu allan sydd yn awgrymu elfen wrthnysig wedi’i anelu at danseilio’r gynghrair. Penderfynodd bwyllgor Domestig y Gymdeithas Bêl-droed ddiddymu’r ffenestr drosglwyddo i glybiau o dan UGC, taflu ail dimau allan o’r pyramid heb wneud unrhyw ddarpariaeth arall a wedyn diddymu cynrychiolaeth UGC o’r Gymdeithas Bêl-droed (penderfyniad a wrthodwyd wedyn gan Gyngor y Gymdeithas). Ymddengys hefyd nad oes digon o arian yn y pwrs i ariannu’r holl geisiadau am y Drwydded Ddomestig. Gwnaed y broses o dorri’r gynghrair llawer anoddach wrth i benderfyniad hwyr gael ei wneud i ddal i ganiatáu dyrchafiad o’r cynghreiriau is, a hynny er gwaetha’r ffaith y gallai 8 clwb golli eu lle yn UGC. Ni fu unrhyw ymdrech i gael barn rheolwyr, chwaraewyr na chefnogwyr a gyda’r holl gefndir trafferthus yma oes yna syndod fod cyn lleied o frwdfrydedd dros y newidiadau? Mynd o un argyfwng blêr i un arall fu’r hanes a does yna fawr o dystiolaeth i ddangos fod y gobaith tila am godi safonau yn mynd i fod werth y boen. Dyna ichi opera sebon go iawn! The Super 10/12 – the story so far Few prospective births have been greeted with less enthusiasm than that of the Super 10/12. In fact the latest bust-up over the proposed 44 fixture season in 2010/11 seems set to continue, as John Deakin insisted to Dave Jones in the Daily Post that the 44-game plan is not done and dusted. He says, “There is no great hurry to decide on the fixture format for next season – I wouldn’t be putting them together until June.” Why, in that case, was it necessary to hold the Newtown meeting? Is it not the case that there is no plan, and that the whole ill-considered project is being railroaded through with insufficient research and planning? The clubs must also shoulder blame for the way in which some have said one thing in public and then proceeded to vote the opposite way. Indeed the words of Haverfordwest chairman Rob Summons seem to confirm this lack of forethought when he reveals, “The new format was decided in a mad five minutes with no discussion of how clubs will be able to meet their commitments.” Rob Summons also makes a valid point when he argues that the matter be decided at a later date by an EGM of clubs who will be in the league next season so that the problems “… can be dealt with again by those who will have to live with the consequences of this ludicrous vote.” The 9 in favour of 44 games next season were: Aberystwyth Town, Caersws, Cefn Druids, Gap Connah’s Quay, Llanelli, Port Talbot Town, Prestatyn Town, Rhyl and The New Saints. While it appears that some things might still be open for discussion the size of the league is not despite the lukewarm response to change which the ‘Sgorio Survey’ revealed. League Chairman, Phil Woosnam, at the Newtown meeting, refused to allow any discussion on a survey which suggested deep divisions. The new league project has been fraught with problems from the start. It was then seriously flawed by the decision to drop the 2nd Division without any serious consideration of alternative treatment for relegated clubs. The project was further undermined by prejudicial decisions taken externally, which suggest a vindictive desire to undermine the league. The FAW Domestic committee decided to remove the transfer window for all leagues below the WPL, reserve teams were kicked out of the pyramid with no alternative arrangement in place and WPL representation on the FAW was removed (a decision later reversed by the FAW Council). In addition funding for the domestic license appears to be insufficient for the purpose. Also the process of reducing the league was made more difficult by the late decision to allow promotion from the feeder leagues despite the fact that as many as 8 clubs could lose their WPL status. Against such a background, and without any attempt to seek the views of managers, players or supporters, is it surprising that there is so little enthusiasm for the changes? It has been a chaotic lurch from one crisis to another with little evidence that the hoped for improvement in standards will make the fall-out worthwhile. What a soap opera! |
