		David Copsey 2

Eto bu hon yn gem agos mewn tywydd perffaith ar gaeau hyfryd Treborth
ac wedi'r buddugoliaeth a pherfformiadau da yn Bala ac yn erbyn
Bangor yr wythnos cynt roedd hogia Port am adeiladu ar hyn a chael
buddugoliaeth arall. Cychwynnwyd yr hanner cyntaf gyda chwarae da gan
Port a nhw oedd y tîm debycaf i sgorio yn y cystadlu cynnar. Daeth hyn yn
wir hefyd gyda David Copsey yn agor y sgorio ar ôl chwarter awr (gyda'i
droed dde!) o gic cornel wedi i gwpl o ergydion gael eu rhwystro gan
amddiffynwyr penderfynol Bangor. Bu'r ddau dim yn eithaf creadigol wedyn
gyda Llion Jones a Gomer Morgan yn taclo'n gryf a chario'r bel yn dda o
ganol cae Port a crëwyd cwpl o gyfleon da na drowyd yn goliau. O ran
Bangor bu hwythau'n chwarae pêl-droed taclus ond llwyddodd amddiffyn Port
i'w cadw i ergydion o bell ac roedd Ceri Jones yn y gol yn gallu delio'n
gyffyrddus gyda hwy. Roedd Ceri yn edrych yn dda eto yn y gol ond ei
gamgymeriad o, pan adawodd gic wan lithro trwy ei ddwylo, deng munud cyn
y diwedd a adawodd Bangor yn ôl i mewn i'r gem ac yr adeg hynny roedd
hi'n edrych fel ei bod am orffen yn gyfartal. I fod yn deg a hogia Bangor
nhw chwaraeodd y pêl-droed gorau yn yr ail hanner a chael y mwyaf o'r
meddiant ac efallai y buasai gem gyfartal wedi bod yn haeddiannol. Er hyn
efallai y gellid dadlau mae Port oedd yn edrych debycaf i sgorio wrth
iddynt wrth-ymosod yn yr ail hanner ond eto ni fu ychwanegu i'r sgôr tan
i Ceri Jones ollwng y bel i'w gol ychydig cyn y diwedd. Dangosodd Port eu
penderfyniad wedyn trwy ddal ati i ymosod ac roedd Gomer Morgan yn gwneud
gwaith da iawn yn y canol gan yrru'n gryf at amddiffyn Bangor a
defnyddio'r asgell yn effeithiol. Penllanw hyn oedd i David Copsey ganfod
lle ar ymyl y blwch wedi ymosodiad arall a'r tro yma llwyddodd i droi ei
amddiffynnwr, a gafodd gem dda yn y cefn i'r tîm cartref, a saethu ergyd
i mewn i'r gol, wedi'r gôl-geidwad anffodus gael llaw iddi . Doedd dim
amser gan Bangor i dalu'r pwyth yn ôl ac felly aeth hogiau Port adref yn
hapus a buddugol unwaith eto. Mae'r tîm wedi datblygu yn arw wedi'r
Nadolig ac yn elwa o'r ychwanegiadau diweddar gyda Gomer Morgan, Carwyn
Jones, Owain Thomas a Ceri Jones yn chwarae yn dda ers iddynt ymuno ar ôl
y Nadolig. Gem oddi cartref nesaf yn y Drenewydd gan obeithio am barhad
o'r datblygiad.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

It was once again a tight affair, in perfect weather conditions on the
beautiful Treborth fields. Following the good performances in Bala and
also last weekend against Bangor the Port lads were eager to build on
these and gain another win. Port started well and in the early exchanges
they looked the most likely to score. This is what happened with a corner
leading to David Copsey’s opening goal (a right footer!) after 15 minutes,
following a couple of blocks by determined Bangor defenders. Both teams
created well and Llion Jones and Gomer Morgan tackled hard and carried the
ball well in midfield for Port creating a couple of chances which were not
converted into goals. Bangor also showed some neat football but they were
restricted to shots from distance and keeper Ceri Jones dealt comfortably
with these. Once again Ceri performed well in goal, but 10 minutes before
the end it was his error which let Bangor back into the game when he
allowed a weak shot slip through his hands. The game now looked as though
it was heading for a draw. Indeed Bangor had played the better football in
the second period gaining the majority of the possession and probably
deserved a share of the spoils. Port counter attacks however had looked
likely to produce a goal, but there were no more goals until the Bangor
equaliser. Port however showed their determination with Gomer Morgan
playing well, driving at the Bangor defence and using the wings well. The
end result of this came with David Copsey finding space on the edge of the
box and managing to turn a marker, who had played really well. Copsey
fired into the net after the unfortunate keeper had got his hand to the
ball. There was no time for a Bangor response and the Port lads ran out
winners once again. The team has developed considerably since Christmas
with the recent additions Gomer Morgan, Carwyn Jones, Owain Thomas and
Ceri Jones showing up well. The next game is away at Newtown and we look
for a continuation of this development.

Cai Parry
Sion Bradley (2)
Leo Smith (2)

Mae gemau yn y grwp oed yma yn erbyn ein gwrthwynebwyr o Fangor bob amser yn
agos ac yn gystadleuol ond y tro yma roedd Porthmadog 3-0 ar y blaen ar ôl
dim ond 10 munud.
Daeth y gyntaf wedi 4 munud gyda Cai Parry un ar un yn erbyn golwr Bangor a
Cai yn ei rolio i gefn y rhwyd. Sion Bradley gafodd yr ail wedi 7 munud yn
dilyn gwaith da lawr y chwith.. Ond roedd y drydedd yn ergyd wych gan Leo
Smith o 30 llath dros ben y golwr i gornel uchaf y rhwyd.
Mater o sawl gôl fyddai Port yn sgorio oedd hi wedyn ond gwnaeth Bangor
frwydro gan gadw eu pennau a rhwystro Port. Cafwyd cyfleon ar y ddau ben o’r
cae ond 3-0 oedd hi’n dal ar yr hanner.
Yr un oedd agwedd Bangor ar ôl y toriad ac roeddent yn anlwcus i beidio
sgorio. Braidd yn flêr oedd y gêm ar yr adeg yma a ni ddaeth 4ydd gôl Port
tan 4 munud o’r diwedd. Wedyn cafwyd ergyd arall gan Leo Smith o du allan
i’r blwch i wneud y sgôr yn 4-0. Yn y funud olaf sgoriodd Sion Bradley mewn
un ar un gyda’r golwr a oedd hwnnw yn anlwcus i beidio cadw’r hanner ergyd
allan. Rhaid hefyd canmol Owain Williams a gafodd gem dda yn y gôl wrth gadw
llechen lân.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have always have close competitive games against our rivals from Bangor
at this age group, but after 10 minutes of the start Porthmadog were 3-0 up
and were well in control of the game.
The first came on 4 minutes from Cai Parry a one on one with the Bangor
keeper and Cai rolled it into the back of the net. The second came from Sion
Bradley on 7 minutes good work on the left midfield crossed in for a tap in
by Sion. The third was a wonder strike by Leo Smith who shot from 30 Yards
out over the keeper into the top corner.
It was a question of how much Porthmadog would score after this but Bangor
put up a fight a kept their heads up and stopped Porthmadog playing football.
Chances went begging at both end but the half finished 3-0.
Bangor came out in the second half with the same attitude they finished the
first and were unlucky not to score, a very scrappy game at this point and
Porthmadog got the next goal 4 minutes from time, another shot from outside
the area from Leo Smith similar to his first put Port 4-0 up. Last minute of
the game Sion Bradley scored his second a one on one with the keeper who was
unlucky not to keep Sion's miss kick out. 5-0 Port

Chwaraewr y gêm / Man of the Match : Leo Smith
(Special mention goes to Owen Williams in goal who also had a very good game
to keep a clean sheet)

Port: Owen Williams, Daniel Price, Gwynant Parry, Iwan Richards, Dylan Jones,
Sion Bradley, James Papernick, Leo Smith, Sion Jones, Cai Parry, Dylan Sweeny.

Dechreuodd y gêm efo Port yn pwyso ar amddiffyn Bangor. Ond ni ddaeth gôl tan
20 munud ar ôl gwaith da gan Jordan Roberts ar yr asgell dde, cyn iddo groesi
i flwch cosbi Bangor lle roedd Tomas Saynor yn barod i roi Port ar y blaen
gydag ergyd isel i gornel gôl Bangor. Ond ni fedrodd Port ddal y pwysa ar
Bangor. Yn wir, mae’n rhaid rhoi clod i Fangor oherwydd iddynt ail afael yn y
gêm a’i throi ei ffordd hwy. Fe ddaethant â’r gêm yn gyfartal ar ôl 30 munud
a rhoi braw i Port gan fynd ar y blaen ar y 34 munud, a dyna oedd y sefyllfa
ar hanner amser efo Port yn colli o ddwy gol i un.

Ar ôl sgwrs a thrafod hanner amser fe ddaeth Port allan am yr ail hanner gydag
agwedd benderfynol ac roedd Aled Hughes a Tom Mahoney yn meistroli’n llwyr yng
nghanol cae. Pan ddaeth Liam Jones ymlaen ar y dde a Meilir Williams yn y
llinell flaen, roedd Port yn rheoli’r gêm. Nid oedd rhaid aros yn hir cyn i
Port ddod â’r gêm yn gyfartal gydag ergyd wych gan Steffan Owen a dyna sut
arhosodd y sgôr am gyfnod. Ond fe aeth Port ar y blaen gyda gôl gan Meilir
Williams ar ôl cyd chwarae da efo Liam Jones. Erbyn hyn roedd Port yn ymosod yn
drwm ar gôl Bangor, ac enillwyd cic rhydd ar y dde. Cymerodd Tomos Meical Owen
gic o safon uchel a gyrhaeddodd Iolo Hughes a lwyddodd i sgorio gôl arall i
Port gyda pheniad cryf. Nid oedd hogia Port wedi darfod oherwydd fe sgoriodd
Meilir Williams ddwy gôl arall i gwblhau ei hatric, a dyna sut ddiweddodd yr
ornest gyda Port yn fuddugol o 6 - 3.

Rwyf eisiau rhoi clod mawr i’r bechgyn am allu troi’r gem yn ôl i ffafriaeth
Port o fod yn colli o ddwy gol i un; maent yn brysur yn dangos eu bod yn
garfan glos ac effeithiol. Da iawn chi bois.

O.N. Gobeithio bydd ein cefnwr chwith Owain Paramore ddim allan rhy hir oherwydd
ei anaf.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The game started with Port putting pressure on the Bangor defence. But we had to
wait until the 20th minute for the goal after good work by Jordan Roberts on the
right wing, before crossing into the Bangor penalty area where Tomas Saynor was
ready to pounce and give Port the lead with a low drive into the corner of the
Bangor net. Indeed, we have to give credit to Bangor who managed to come back
into the match and turn it in their favour. They levelled things after 30 minutes
and gave Port a fright when they took the lead on 34 minutes, and that’s how
things stood at half time with Port trailing by two goals to one.

After a chat and a discussion at half time, Port came out for the second half with
a determined attitude with Aled Hughes and Tom Mahoney in charge of mid-field.
When Liam Jones came to the field on the right and Meilir Williams joined the
front line, Port were in control of the match. We didn’t have to wait long before
Port levelled things with an excellent strike by Steffan Owen and that’s how
things remained for a while. But Port took the lead with a goal by Meilir Williams
after good interplay with Liam Jones. Bangor’s goal was now under siege, and Port
managed to win a free kick on the right. Tomos Meical Owen took a high quality
free kick that reached Iolo Hughes who managed to net another goal for Port with
a strong header. The Port lads weren’t done yet with Meilir Williams bagging a
further two goals to complete his hat-rick, and that’s how the battle ended with
Port the victors by 6 - 3.

I would like to give praise to the lads for managing to turn the match back into
their favour after trailing by two goals to one; they are busy showing they are
a close-knit and effective squad. Well done boys.

Cafwyd gem dda o bêl-droed go iawn gan ddau dim o chwaraewyr addawol, cystadleuol
ond teg iawn ar gae Clwb Chwaraeon Madog gyda'r tîm cartref yn dod allan yn
fuddugol yn y diwedd. Ond roedd y canlyniad yn un a allai fod wedi mynd unrhyw
ffordd hyd at y diwedd un. Gyda anafiadau yn golygu newidiadau yn y cefn unwaith
eto i'r Port Bangor a aeth ar y blaen wedi 3 munud. Llwyddwyd i ennill pêl yn yr
awyr gan un o flaenwyr Bangor ac yna'r ail-bel wedyn gan ei bartner cyn iddo
daro'r bel yn gelfydd dros gol-geidwad Port, Ceri Jones, wrth iddo ddod at ymyl y
blwch. Er hyn ceisiodd Port chwarae eu pêl-droed gan gadw'r bel ar lawr a cheisio
cael Aaron Roberts-Evans, a oedd yn weithgar trwy'r gem, yn rhydd i lawr y dde a
chael y bel i draed y blaenwyr peryglus David Copsey ac Aaron Griffiths. Ond am yr
hanner awr cyntaf Bangor oedd yn cadw'r bel orau gan ddangos patrwm chwarae taclus
iawn er iddynt fethu a manteisio ar eu cyd-chwarae gan wastraffu ambell gyfle a
methu a churo Ceri Jones a oedd yn edrych yn dda yn y gol i Port. Trodd y llanw o
blaid Port ychydig cyn yr hanner pan sgoriodd David Copsey yn dilyn gwaith da gan
Aaron Griffiths ar y chwith. Wedi'r toriad fel yna y datblygodd yr ail hanner
hefyd gyda Port yn llwyddo i roi llai o le i ganolwyr Bangor a thrwy hynny cadw'r
bel a chreu cyfleon ei hunain. Gyda'r canlyniad yn dal yn agored a'r gem yn prysur
ddod i'w therfyn cafwyd un moment o sgil arbennig i droi'r gem ffordd y Port. Gyda
llai na 10 munud yn weddill doedd gan Bangor ddim ateb na ffordd yn ôl i'r gem
wedyn. Dyfarnwyd cic rydd i Port tua 30 llath o'r gol ac heb i neb, gan gynnwys
gol-geidwad Bangor, symud tarodd David Copsey mellten gyda'i droed chwith yn syth
i gornel uchaf eu gol. Gol wych a fuasai'n ddigon da i ennill unrhyw gem ar unrhyw
lwyfan. Gyda Bangor yn pwyso am gol i unioni'r sgôr llwyddodd Tomos Meehan i
ychwanegu gol arall wedi cic gornel gan Seb Bowcott ac er, efallai, bod 3 - 1
ychydig yn annheg ar chwarae effeithiol hogiau Bangor efallai y buasen nhw hyd yn
oed yn cyfaddef bod gol David Copsey yn werth 2!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was an excellent game of football, played at Clwb Chwaraeon, between two
promising, competitive and fair teams. The home team came out on top but the result
could have gone either way. Injuries meant changes for Port at the back and it was
Bangor who went ahead after only three minutes. After winning the ball in the air
Bangor also won the second ball which resulted in a clever lob over Port keeper
Ceri Jones from the edge of the box. Despite this set back Port played some good
football keeping the ball on the ground and trying to release the hard-working Aaron
Roberts-Evans down the right to feed dangerous strikers David Copsey and Aaron
Griffiths. But for the first half hour it was Bangor who kept the ball the better
and created a number of chances which were either wasted or kept out by Ceri Jones
having a good game in goal. The tide turned Port’s way just before the interval when
David Copsey found the net after good work by Aaron Griffiths down the left.
The second half continued in the same way with Port now keeping the ball well and
creating chances. But with the result still open and time running out there was a
moment of outstanding skill which left Bangor with no way back. Port were awarded a
free kick 30 yards out and before anyone, including the Bangor keeper, had time to
move David Copsey thundered a left foot exocet into the top corner of the net. This
was a super goal worthy of winning any game at any level. With Bangor trying to get
back on level terms Tomos Meehan added Port’s third following Seb Bowcott’s corner.
A 3-1 margin in favour of Port was probably unfair on a Bangor team who played some
effective football but even they would have to concede that David Copsey’s goal was
worth two!

Hon oedd ein gêm gyntaf yn 2010 ac un roedd yr hogiau wedi edrych ymlaen
ati ers i’r rhestr gemau gael ei chyhoeddi ar ddechrau’r tymor. Gan fod
llawer o chwaraewyr yn chwarae i’w clybiau gyda rhai o hogiau Bala roeddent
am sicrhau yr hawliau brolio am yr wythnos i ddod.

Ar y cychwyn nid oedd yr un o’r ddau dîm yn rheoli, gyda’r bêl yn cael ei
chicio o un ochr o’r cae i’r llall. Mewn amser dechreuodd Port rheoli’r gêm
gan ennill mwy a mwy o feddiant a chanfod bylchau yn amddiffyn y Bala oedd
yn gadael i flaenwyr Port rhedeg tu ôl i amddiffyn Bala. Ond rhwystrwyd
Port, ar fwy nag un achlysur, gan George Richards, golwr Bala, a oedd allan
mor sydyn. Yn y blaen i Bala roedd cryfder Daniel Evans yn achosi peth
trafferth i amddiffyn Port.
Ar ôl 20 munud aeth Port ar y blaen pan wnaeth Leo Smith ganfod Cai Parry
gyda pêl dda a Cai yn saethu i gornel chwith y rhwyd.
Cyn pen dim roedd Port ddwy ar y blaen gyda symudiad tebyg i’r cyntaf gyda
Cai Parry yn derbyn pêl o ganol y cae ac yn mynd ymlaen i sgorio. 2-0 ar yr
hanner.
Port oedd yn rheoli yn yr ail hanner. Sgoriodd Leo Smith, ar ôl 46 munud,
gyda ergyd dda o 25 llath a bellach roedd y gêm tu hwnt i’r Bala.
Ben Robinson, yn ei gêm gyntaf, sgoriodd y 4ydd gôl. Yn agos i’r diwedd
aeth yr amddiffynnwr ymlaen ar gyfer cic gornel a phan groesodd Dylan
Sweeney disgynnodd y bêl i Ben a rhwydodd, i roi buddugoliaeth o 4-0 dros
ein cymdogion.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Our first game in 2010 and the one that all the boys looked forward to
since the fixtures were announced at the start of the season. Many players
play their club football with some of the Bala players, so they were
playing for the bragging rights for the week ahead.
At the start neither team took control with the ball being booted from one
side of the field to the other. Eventually the Port midfield started to
take control of the game and gain more and more possession and finding
gaps in their defence enabling Port two front men to run behind the Bala
defence, but George Richards in the Bala goal was quick off his line on
more than one occasion to deny Port. Meanwhile Bala front man Daniel
Evans's strength was causing the Porthmadog defence some trouble on the
break.
It took Port 20 minutes to break the deadlock and Cai Parry was put
through by a nice pass from Leo Smith, and finished beautifully in the
bottom left hand corner.
Not long after Porthmadog went 2 two nil up with a similar play as the
first, a pass from midfield allowed Cai Parry to shoot home for his and
Port’s second. 2-0 half time.
Porthmadog were well in control of the game and the second half was all
Porthmadog. Leo Smith scored for Port on 46 minutes with an excellent
strike from all of 25 yards and put the game beyond Bala.
The fourth and final goal came from debutant Ben Robinson. The defender
went up for a corner in the last five minutes, the ball crossed by Dylan
Sweeny fell to Robinson and he slotted home to complete a very welcome
4-0 win over our local rivals.

Ar ôl y siomedigaeth ddydd Sul diwethaf (Rhyl gartref) fe oedd y
garfan ar bigau eisiau gêm a phawb mewn hwylia da ar y bws ar ein
ffordd i Bala ,
Dechreuodd y gêm gyda Port yn pwyso ac yn wir mi wnaethon ni daro'r
postyn dair gwaith cyn i Iolo Hughes ddod i fyny o’r cefn i benio cic
rydd Nathan Williams i gôl y Bala ac dyna oedd y sgôr ar hanner
amser.
Ond yn yr ail hanner fe ddaeth hogia Port allan gyda’r agwedd a’r
bêl-droed yr ydym wedi dod i ddisgwyl ganddynt ac yn wir i chwi fe
drawodd Jordan Roberts ergyd o ongl dyn i rhoi Port dwy ar y blaen, a
chyn hir fe gafodd Meilir Williams ei gôl i’w gwneud hi’n dair i ddim
i ni. Wedyn ddaeth Tomos Saynor ymlaen a sgorio dwy gol i rhoi Port
mewn sefyllfa gyffyrddus ar bump gôl i ddim a dyna sut y gorffennodd
yr ornest gyda Port yn fuddugol mewn gêm lle ddefnyddiwyd ein tri
gôl-geidwad sef Gethin Roberts, Dafydd Jones a David Lawson. Fe
gafodd Owain Parramore gêm gyntaf dda i'r tîm, roedd Tom Mahony ac
Aled Hughes yn meistroli yn ganol cae a chreodd Steff a Tomos Owen
broblemau i’r Bala ar ei esgyll. Hefyd cafodd Carwyn Eckly gêm
gadarn yn y cefn - yn wir fe gafodd pawb gemau da iawn - da iawn
hogia, Chris.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

After the disappointment of last Sunday (Rhyl at home) the squad was
itching for another game and everyone was in good spirit on the bus
down to Bala,
The match started with Port enjoying some good pressure and we hit
the post on three occasions before Iolo Hughes came up from the back
to head home Nathan Williams’ free kick into the Bala net and that’s
how things stood at the interval.
But the Port lads came out in the second half and showed the
attitude and the football we’ve come to expect, and it was no
surprise when Jordan Roberts extended Port’s lead with a shot from
the tightest of angles, and before long Meilir Williams notched up a
goal to make it three-nil to us. Tomos Saynor then came on to score
two goals to put Port in a comfortable position with a five-nil lead
and that’s how it ended, with Port victorious in a game where all
three of our keepers; Gethin Roberts, Dafydd Jones and David Lawson
were called into action. Owain Parramore had a good debut for the
team, Tom Mahony and Aled Hughes bossed things in mid-field and
Steff and Tomos Owen created problems for Bala down the wings. Carwyn
Eckly also put in a solid performance at the back – indeed all the
lads put in good performances – well done lads, Chris.

Porthmadog: Gethin Roberts, Carwyn Eckly, Nathan Williams, Iolo Hughes,
Owain Parramore, Tomos Owen, Tom Mahony, Aled Hughes, Steffan Owen,

Liam Murphy, Harri Griffith, Llion Owen, Jordan Roberts.

Bala .... 1 Porthmadog ....0

Dyma’r gêm gyntaf i’r tîm dan 16 chwarae ers cychwyn mis Tachwedd ac
roedd yr hyfforddwyr a’r chwaraewyr yn barod iawn am gêm gyda’r garfan
nawr yn wahanol i’r tro diwethaf y cafwyd gêm gyda 5 chwaraewr newydd
wedi ymuno. Gan fod gôl-geidwad a cwpl o amddiffynwyr newydd gennym
cymerodd y cefnwyr ychydig bach o amser i ffeindio’i traed ac roedd
chwarae hir, uniongyrchol y tîm cartref yn peri ychydig o anawsterau
i’r hogiau yn y cefn. Roedd cwpl o ymosodwyr tal a chyflym gan y Bala
ac aethant ar y blaen wedi rhyw ddeng munud wedi iddynt geisio dal Port
gyda pêl hir arall dros yr amddiffyn na chafwyd ei chlirio’n iawn. Wedi
hyn daeth hogiau Port i mewn i’r gem yn well gan ffeindio eu dynion a
cheisio chwarae pêl-droed ar gae mawr ond eto trwm.
Yn yr ail hanner roedd yr hogiau wedi dod i gydweithio’n dda a nhw oedd
y tîm gorau yn braf gan sgorio unwaith ond i’r dyfarnwr ifanc weld
trosedd yn rhywle. Cafwyd cwpl o gyfleon eraill yn ystod yr hanner a
methodd Aaron Griffiths sgorio o rhyw chwe llath trwy daro’r bel i
wyneb amddiffynnwr cartref nad oedd yn gwybod dim am y peth. Canlyniad
anffodus ond perfformiad da, a dyna sy’n bwysig yn y safon yma, gyda’r
hogiau newydd yn gwneud eu rhan yn dda iawn a David Copsey, a sgoriodd
y gôl fuddugol i Blaenau yn erbyn Bermo yng Nghynghrair Undebol Arfordir
y Gogledd y diwrnod cynt, yn beryglus bob amser roedd yn ymosod.
Edrychodd Ceri Jones yn gyffyrddus yn y gôl hefyd a phawb yn chwarae eu
rhan a gweithio’n galed, gan gynnwys eilyddion megis Sion Kyle a
edrychodd yn beryglus iawn wedi iddo ddod i’r cae.

---------------------------------------------------

This was the first U-16’s game since the beginning of November and the
coaches and players were looking forward to it. There was a much
changed squad with five new players having joined. As the goalkeeper
and a couple of defenders were new it took them a little time to find
their feet and the long direct balls played by the home team caused
problems at the back for our lads. Their tall speedy attackers took
advantage and after 10 minutes they went ahead resulting from a long
ball which the Port defence failed to clear. But after this Port
started to find each other and attempted to play a passing game on a
big heavy pitch.
In the second half the lads started to combine well and they were
easily the better team. They found the net only to have it disallowed
by the young referee. There were a couple of other opportunities during
the second period with Aaron Griffiths’ effort inadvertently striking a
defender in the face from six yards. A disappointing result but more
importantly at this level a good performance. Several of the newcomers
showed up well and David Copsey, who had scored the winning goal for
Blaenau against Barmouth the previous day, looked dangerous every time
he went on the attack. Ceri Jones looked very comfortable in goal and
all who played worked hard and played their part. Sub Siôn Kyle in
particular was a danger when he came on.

Porthmadog: Ceri Jones, Tomos Williams, Jed Lloyd, Carwyn Jones,
Sion Phillips, Llion Jones, Gomer Morgan, Aron Jones, Aaron Griffiths,
David Copsey, Huw Quaeck, Tomos Meehan, Alex Lanz, Sion Kyle, Seb Bowcott.

Roeddem yn disgwyl gêm anodd yn TNS ond nid felly oedd hi. Cafodd
yr hogiau brofiad o gyfleusterau rhagorol yr ystafelloedd newid yn
y ‘Venue’ ond wedyn bu’n rhaid chwarae ar gae ysgol dwy filltir i
ffwrdd a hwnnw yn gae trwm iawn -nid yn ddelfrydol ar gyfer
pêl-droed da ond dyna’n union a gafwyd.
Dechreuodd Port yn gryf a dyna sut y bu drwy’r gêm. Roedd Sion Bradley
a Joe Holt yn cyfuno’n dda lawr y dde ac yn achosi trafferthion di-rif
i amddiffyn TNS. Ond o’r chwith ddaeth y gôl gyntaf gyda Dylan Sweeney
yn tynnu’r bêl yn ôl i Joe Holt a sgoriodd o 12 llath. Er na arweiniodd
hyn at llif o goliau sgoriodd Leo Smith a Cai Parry gôl yr un cyn yr
hanner i wneud y sgôr yn 3-0.
Cododd Port eu gêm ar ddechrau’r ail hanner gan sgorio ddwywaith yn y 5
munud cyntaf diolch i Joe Holt a Cai Parry ar ôl symudiadau gwych. Ar ôl
40 munud sgoriodd TNS gyda chic o’r smotyn ond o hynny ymlaen nid oedd
fawr o beryg i Port adael gôl arall i fewn.
Cwblhaodd Cai Parry ei hat tric, gan guro’r trap camsefyll cyn rhoi’r
bêl yn y rhwyd. Yn dilyn gwaith da lawr y chwith sgoriodd Dylan Sweeney
a Dylan Jones gôl yr un a gyda eiliadau yn unig ar ôl gorffennwyd y gêm
mewn steil gyda gôl o 25 llathen gan Sion Bradley.
Canmolwyd perfformiad hogiau Port yn fawr gan hyfforddwyr TNS a’r
Dyfarnwr.

------------------------------------------------------------

We went to TNS expecting a tough match but that wasn't the case. The
lads got to experience the excellent facilities of the changing rooms at
"The Venue" but unfortunately had to play a couple o miles away on a
school field which was very heavy to say the least, not the perfect
pitch to play good football but that's exactly what Port did.
Porthmadog started off with the stronger side and it never really
changed all game. Sion Bradley and Joe Holt were linking up well on the
right and it caused the TNS defence all kinds of trouble. But the first
goal came from the left, Dylan Sweeny pulled a cross back to Joe Holt on
the penalty spot to shoot home. This did not quite open the floodgates
but Leo Smith and Cai Parry both scored before half time to put
Porthmadog 3-0 up.
Second half started with Porthmadog upping the pace, within the first
5 minutes Porthmadog had scored twice through Cai Parry and Joe Holt
with some lovely passing moves. TNS got a goal back from the penalty
spot after 40 minutes but from then on Porthmadog never looked like
conceding again.
Cai Parry completed his hat-trick after beating the offside trap
and comfortably slotting home past the TNS keeper.
Dylan Sweeny and Dylan Jones linked up well on the left side and
both were rewarded with a goal apiece.
With seconds on the clock Sion Bradley finished the game off in
style with a great strike from 25 Yards giving the keeper no chance.

TNS coaching staff and Referee were full of praise for the
Porthmadog lads after their performance.

Mae’n rhaid i mi ddiolch am anrheg Nadolig buan a gefais gan y hogiau
sef perfformiad o safon uchel a phêl-droed gwerth ei weld. Fe
ddechreuodd y gêm gyda Port yn mynd ar y blaen gyda Ian Darwood yn
sgorio gôl ardderchog o tua ugain llath gyda’i ergyd wych i gornel gôl
T.N.S yn rhoi dim cyfle i gôl-geidwad T.N.S. Ond cawsom sioc oherwydd
i T.N.S gael cic gosb i ddod â’r gêm yn gyfartal. Mynd ar y blaen
unwaith eto wnaeth Port gan i Iolo Hughes ddod i fyny o’r cefn a phenio
i'r gol o gic gornel wych gan Liam Jones ac doedd ddim dal ar y hogiau
wedyn oherwydd fe sgoriodd Tomos Saynor ddwy gôl dda a Meilir Williams yn
cael y gôl arall. Roedd Tom Mahony a Liam Jones yn rheoli yng nghanol cae
ac ein asgellwyr Steffan Owen ar y chwith ac Ian Darwood ar y dde yn creu
problemau i’w gwrthwynebwyr a gydag Aled Hughes, Iolo a Harri Griffith fel
cefnwr de a Liam Murphy yn chwarae fel cefnwr chwith yn rheoli yn y
amddiffyn heb anghofio David Lawson yn y gôl, cafodd T.N.S ddim hwyl yn
ymosod ar ein gôl. Ond roedd ein ymosodwyr ni’n creu difrod bob tro roedd
ganddynt feddiant o’r bêl ym mlwch cosbi T.N.S. Hefyd fe gafodd Jac Jones,
Llion Owen a Guto Roberts gemau da pan ddaethent ymlaen. Rydan ni’n edrych
ymlaen am hanner nesaf tymor nawr. Diolch hogia’ am eich hymdrech yn hanner
cyntaf y tymor ac am yr anrheg Dolig buan.

-------------------------------------------------------------

I must thank the lads for the early Christmas present they gave me – a
high quality performance and football that was a pleasure to watch. The
match started with Port taking the lead through Ian Darwood who scored a
brilliant goal from around twenty yards with a superb strike into the top
corner, leaving the T.N.S keeper with no chance. However we were dealt a
shock when T.N.S. scored from a free kick for the equalizer. Port however
regained the lead with Iolo Hughes coming up from the back to head home a
superb corner by Liam Jones and there was no holding back on the lads from
then on with Tomos Saynor notching up two good goals and Meilir Williams
getting the other. Tom Mahony and Liam Jones were in control of mid-field
and our wingers Steffan Owen on the left and Ian Darwood on the right
created numerous problems for their opponents and with Aled Hughes, Iolo
and Harri Griffith at right back and Liam Murphy at left back controlling
things in defence, without forgetting David Lawson in goal, T.N.S had no
joy in their attacks on our goal. However our attackers caused damage every
time they were in possession in the T.N.S penalty area. Jac Jones, Llion
Owen and Guto Roberts also put in good performances when they came on. We
now look forward for the second half of the season. Thanks lads for your
efforts in the first half of the season and for the early Christmas present.

Porthmadog: David Lawson, Harri Griffith, Liam Murphy, Iolo Hughes,
Aled Hughes, Liam Jones, Ian Darwood, Tom Mahony, Tomos Saynor,

Cyn dechrau fy adroddiad fe hoffwn ddiolch o galon i Eddie, Iolo a
Berrnie am eu gwaith caled gyda'r brwshys a’r ffyrch er mwyn cael
y cae yn barod i chwarae arno - diolch bois!
Fe ddechreuodd y gêm gyda Bangor yn rheoli, ond mae angen rhoi
clod i gôl-geidwad Port David Lawson gan iddo wneud amryw arbediad
campus i gadw y sgôr i lawr i un gôl i ddim i Bangor ar hanner
amser, ac am waith caled yr hogiau i gyd pan oeddent dan bwysau.
Ddechreuodd yr ail hanner gyda hogiau Port yn ail afael yn y gêm
ac yn pwyso ar amddiffyn Bangor ac fe gawsom ein haeddiant pan
wnaeth Tomos Owen groesi o’r asgell dde i'r blwch cosbi lle oedd
Tomos Saynor yno i reoli’r bêl ai phasio ymlaen i Meilir Jones i
ergydio i mewn i’r rhwyd i unioni’r y sgôr. Erbyn hyn roedd hogiau
Port wedi troi’r gem i'w ffordd nhw ac yn wir roedd Tom Mahony a
Liam Jones yn rheoli canol cae. Fe ddaeth ail gôl Port ar ôl gwaith
da gan Jac Jones a Meilir i lawr yr asgell chwith y tro hwn, a phan
ddaeth croesiad gan Meilir fe wnaeth Aled Hughes daro ergyd bwerus
ar y foli i adael gôl-geidwad Bangor heb unrhyw obaith i arbed a
rhoi Port ar y blaen a dyna sut a wnaeth y gêm orffen gyda Port yn
fuddugol.
Fe gafodd y garfan sialens gadarn iawn yn y gêm hon ond fe
ddangoswyd cymeriad a chalon gan y bois a fe gawsant ei haeddiant.
Da iawn chi hogiau.

----------------------------------

Before I start my report, I would like to thank Eddie, Iolo and
Bernie for their hard work with their brushes and forks to make the
pitch playable – thanks lads!
The match started with Bangor in control, but praise must be given
to Port’s keeper David Lawson who made a number of excellent saves
to keep the score down to a goal to nil to Bangor on the half, and
for the hard work of all the lads when under pressure.
The second half started with Port re-gaining control of the match,
putting pressure on the Bangor defence and were rewarded for this
when Tomos Owen crossed in from the right wing where Tomos Saynor
controlled the ball before passing to Meilir Jones who fired home
for the equaliser. By now, the Port lads had turned the match back
in their favour and Tom Mahony and Liam Jones were indeed
controlling mid-field. Port’s second came after some good work by
Jac Jones and Meilir down the left this time, and when Meilir’s
cross came in, Aled Hughes struck a powerful shot on the volley to
leave the Bangor keeper with no chance, giving Port the lead, and
that’s how it finished, with Port victorious.
This was a very stern test for the squad but the boys showed a great
deal of character and heart, to secure a deserved win. Well done lads.

Port: David Lawson, Carwyn Eckly, Tomos Saynor, Nathan Williams, Iolo
Hughes, Tom Mahony, Liam Jones, Adam Davies, Liam Murphy, Aled Hughes,
Tomos Owen, Harri Griffith, Guto Roberts, Dafydd Jones, Ian Darwood,
Llion Owen, Jac Jones, Meilir Jones.

Man of the match: Aled Hughes.

We had to adjust to a late kick off time after confusion about the venue
but credit to the players for keeping their concentration and straight
from the kick off tool control of the match with Aled Hughes and Nathan
Williams forming a very strong partnership at centre back and in front of
them Carwyn Eckly and Tomos Meical Owen dominating our midfield and up
front Tomos Saynor and Liam Murphy giving us a very solid spine in the
team. The pressure soon paid with Liam Murphy scoring after collecting a
pass from Ian Darwood from the left to give us the lead on 15 minutes.
Then Liam scored our second on 23 minutes from a cross this time from
Adam Davies was the first to react on 30 minutes from a free kick by Llion
Owen to score at the far post giving Port a 3-0 lead at the break. The
second half started with the Port players still on top and on 50 minutes
Aled Hughes controlled the ball on the edge of the box and went on the run
past three Prestatyn players and unleashed a powerful shot from 20 yards
into the top corner of the Prestatyn goal with their keeper well beaten.
Harri Griffith scored our fifth and final goal with a good strike from a
corner from Steffan Owen.
The players showed a high level of concentration and work and they got
their reward in a convincing win which they fully deserved. We also hope
as a squad that Gethin Roberts makes a speedy recovery after breaking his
finger in training.

Man of the match: Tomos Meical Owen.

Our first game as a squad against a strong physical Quay team and it was
Connah’s Quay who took the lead after good play down their left and their
striker beating our keeper David Lawson with a clinical strike which
David had no chance with. Slowly the Port boys took control of the game
and Iolo Hughes came up for a corner two minutes from half-time to score
with a powerful and unstoppable header. After the break it was the
Porthmadog players who controlled the game with Liam Jones and Tomos
Meical Owen controlling the midfield and providing the platform for the
team to drive on and on 50 minutes Port had a corner and after a good
delivery from Adam Davies, Nathan Williams challenged for the ball and
headed towards goal and their keeper parried the ball which fell loose
in the 6 yard box: Meilir Jones was the first to respond and volleyed the
ball into the Connah’s Quay net to give Porthmadog the victory with a 2-1
score.
This was an excellent start to our season and I must give credit to the
players for standing up to the challenge of a strong physical team and
also for playing attractive football at times.
